Thanks for the first feedback! I have included the answers below. - Start totorial 1 also with the picture from tutorial 2. It is a good idea to show what your start point and end objective is. Yes that is a good idea, I will add that. - I would first tell something about the different layers - then show the different part tabs Yes I see your point, and Alban and I discussed what we should and should not cover in detail in the videos. The tutorials are set up so you only learn/see what you need to know at that point, otherwise things might have to be explained twice, or the user might wonder why they were shown something that they didn't use. This is why the layers aren't mentioned until the second Video. We thought about the tabs as well, but figured that we don't want to make the videos too basic or too long either. 4 of the parts tabs are actually used in the videos, and we figured the video should focus on the "how-to's" and things that were hard to explain in writing in the help file. Because of that we left some basic exploring to the user. Thanks for pointing it out though. If more people feel the same way I will add more of the basics. - also something about which parts connect automatically and which ones do not I hadn't actually thought about that. I don't think we mentioned it in the help file either. Thanks for pointing it out. - tut2, 7:07 -> I would change the text, selct the brush, to select the paint tool, because it is named paint in the menu Very observant of you! I had not expected someone to notice so quickly. It is already on my to-do list. - maybe finish with showing a link to the website (always helpfull) Yes, I thought about that and then I left it out in favor of an actual link in the video's description. But I think you are right, I will add one anyway together with the BlueBrick logo. I should mention though that these videos might only be on YouTube temporarily (unless I can get the video quality sorted out). They will definitely be hosted on Albans site in future

I got a note from Alban today confirming that I could upload the tutorial videos to YouTube so that I can start getting feedback from everyone. Unfortunately the quality of the recording is reduced quite a bit and I am not sure why. the text is much harder to read than in the originals. I hope it is good enough so that you can give some feedback. In time the orignial videos will be available on the BlueBrick website. Please leave your feedback here rather than on YouTube. Thanks! EDIT 27.08.09: These videos are higher quality and have the changes recommended by Eurobricks user "aawsum". See todays full post (27.08.09), for a list of the changes. In addition I have used a different video format, and also increased the font sizes where possible. The callouts are much easier to read. Make sure that "HQ" is selected at the bottom right corner of the video window. Tutorial Part 1 Tutorial Part 2

Yes my nickname is definitely misleading as far as that goes. You guys are helping a lot just by making the gifs. I might give it a try myself this weekend so I can start adding to the community as well. I will be focusing on my sets from the early to mid 80s.

Hoi Aawsum, bedankt voor de feedback! Yes, I apologize for that section still being empty. Alban has been quite busy over the past weeks and unfortunately I wouldn't know where to start. To Cusaeng, yeah, I figured you were right about the firewall, but it was worth a shot. You should give your IT Admin some Lego to play with in return for unblocking the site.

It could be that your browser won't open the PDF file directly. You can try right clicking on the link and selecting "save target as..." to save it on your hard drive first, and opening it from there.

Ok everyone, Alban hast posted the off-line version of the helfp file on his site. You can open it, and save it from here. The table of contents has active links so you can skip to the section you want from there. I would apreciate any constructive feedback! The video tutorials might be online this weekend.

Wow you guys, this is great! I hope you don't mind them being in the next BlueBrick release so that those who aren't on Eurobricks.com can use them as well?

Hello all, it is great to see a topic in this forum dedicated to BlueBrick. I already mentioned in the "Digital Designed Layouts" topic, that Alban and I are busy working on help files and tutorials. I finished the two video tutorials yesterday. The videos are made using screen capture so everything is clearly visible. We also chose to use written callouts instead of audio commentary as these will be easier to translate. How quickly the files get translated depends on how much time our volunteers have available, so please be patient. The English videos should be available on Alban's website in the very near future. When I next talk to Alban, I will discuss the idea of extending the help files with advice on making new BlueBrick parts. In the meantime however, it would be great if everyone could leave a quick note on how you made your parts, and what advice you would give. I am looking forward to seeing what everyone comes up with! When that is done I will also be looking into making the program/website easier to find on Google. Unless you know the actual name, it really isn't easy to find. Happy building! Alex

Fantastic. I had to think of this car recently when I saw the centerfold of one of the old Brickjournal issues. I got mine when it was first released, not long before I entered my dark ages. My brother (who is 10 years younger) got the black super car that followed. Mine is still in storage and will probably also need a good cleaning and maintenance so I am really interested in seeing how you get on.

I have to agree with Hobbes. I got the 7740 for my 6th Birthday back in 1982, and it is still my favourite. It took 3 days of after school building to get it completed (with parental support). I still fondly remember the day I got it.... and I still have it. I have also got the mail car, but not the sleeping car... I will have to find it on ebay one of these days.

This is the last track I had which was taken apart about 10 years ago when I moved out. Everything you'll see in the Brickshelf pictures has been in storage since. It all started when my brother, at the age of 10, saved up his pocket money to buy me the football stadium which Lego released for the 1996 Eurpean Football Championships (I think it was for my birthday). That got me motivated to finally make a proper layout with mountains, bridges etc. It was an interesting layout as about 2/3 was my lego from the early to mid 80s and the other 3rd was my brothers which he had recently started collecting. The 10+ year difference made a great contrast. As my 12 Volt track no longer wanted to work I bought the same amount of track again in 9V and converted my 12V trains. You can also see some of my classic space, technic and model team collection on the shelves in the background as well as the 12V trains which were not often on the track (like the 7740). I apologize for the very average quality of the pictures. They were taken, and scanned a loooooong time ago (yes... we are talking analog cameras!). One of these days I will scan them in with a high resolution scanner. By they way, for those of you who use BlueBrick for your layouts , I have been helping Alban Nanty to write a pretty detailed help file over the past weeks. The English version should be available on the the BlueBrick website in the not too distant future, which will then be followed by a tutorial. Versions in other languages will be made available as soon as possible. (BlueBrick wasn't around at the time I made the layout posted above... just in case you're wondering ) Happy building!!

Really stunning. I recognized the old German "Fachwerk" style before I even got around to reading your description. The details are really nice. It would go well with my old BR50. I am looking forward to seeing more of your work soon!

ENTERED Hi Eurobrick Members! I have just come out of my dark ages and I am now scouring the internet looking for sites with new members that can give me constructive feedback for my future builds. Having seen some very familiar, high quality steam locomotives on this site, I figured I have come to the right place. My first MOC in 13 years is this Power Functions BR50 steam train. All the details and a load of pictures are on my MOC Pages webpage. It would be great if you could leave me your comments and a rating during your visit (you don't have to be an mocpages member to leave a rating). You are very welcome to leave comments here too if you prefer. My high res. pictures and a video of the train in action can be found on my Flickr page. I hope you like it!
