You are right! Thanks for pointing that out. And thanks for your feedback. You are right, it is definitely not critical, but might be useful. I will finish off my missing train and perhaps some of the additional wagons that I have.

Welcome to EB Patje. As I mentioned in another thread, I have also been a big fan of your layouts for a while. It is great to have you on Eurobricks! I am looking forward to seeing all your updates soon.
-
I can't wait to see the actual layout! Will you be making it soon? I noticed you had mountains as one of the layer names. Will you actually be making mountains? I also noticed there were some breaks in your BlueBrick track. I guess the real track will be forced into the correct shape? My previous layout was also forced to fit together... and now I am trying to find a way of making the track properly in BlueBrick. It's not so easy when you can't break the rules.

A few days behind schedule but here we go. First of all I have added the links to the XMLs in the post with the Century Skyway airport GIFs. For my new GIFs, I have gone for something a little different. I have decided to add the trains that my brother and I own to my layout (still missing one or two... I think). I am not sure whether trains will ever be included in an official BlueBrick release but I think it might be quite handy to have them to see how well the trains fit into certain sections of the track (e.g. train depot). I will post the XMLs tomorrow but they are not required for the positioning in BlueBrick, just the author and peeron link. Do you think trains should be included in BlueBrick? Your feedback is welcome. That is a great layout Patje! I saw the pictures in your Brickshelf account quite some time ago. The reason why I noticed them at the time was because of the cat sitting and lying in the middle of the layout. My cats used to do that all the time. I was always amazed that they used to walk in and out of the layout causing minimal damage. I think I need to make a cat GIF for BlueBrick to add realism to my virtual layouts.

Hi Aawsum, it is great to see you're back! I am looking forward to seeing your new layouts and GIF creations. Groetjes en een prettig nieuw jaar! I will be posting some more GIFs tomorrow. Right now I am just enjoying having a chance to read through all the threads I have been missing out on over the past months.

Rumplemuck already gave you the correct link, but alternatively you will always be able to find it in the very first post of this thread, and in the BlueBrick Set Index to which there is a link in my signature. Alternatively I have noticed that typing BlueBrick into google now actualy has the correct page turning up at the top of the search results. I haven't gotten around to making the XMLs for the airport yet. I did a Vista to Windows 7 upgrade instead. I can't believe I waited so long! It is sooo much better.

That is a great track Thomas! You should deep link it so that everyone can see it without having to download the zip file. You can do that by posting it on Brickshelf and making an image link to it. Do you have pictures of the actual layout itself? If so, you could also put those on brickshelf (but no need to link them to this thread as this is specifically for virtual layouts). I am looking forward to seeing some pictures!

I just built this set in MLCad as a request for a fellow Eurobricks member. Somehow I missed out on this set completely when it came out. I was really suprised how long it took to build (virtually). Despite its size this set is packed with details, minifigs, vehicles and tools. Thanks for all the pictures! GIF XML : 6479 Emergency Response Center

Right, now that I have some time on my hands I figured it was time I presented an old classic which probably many AFOLs have in their collection somewhere. Actually it was my younger brother who had this set. I had the earlier 6392 model. I will post the XMLs tomorrow. I have added it to my BlueBrick layout which you can see here (a reproduction of my old layout which is here). I just noticed I still need to lighten the grays a bit too, so I will let you know when I have updated them. Not many folks making virtual layouts at the moment? Hopefully seeing this long lost topic again will encourage all of you to share your virtual layouts. I have just added the 6597 Century Skyway to my layout. Slowly but surely it his turning out to be just how I remember it. The Original photos are here.

Even though I haven't been at work for the past week, I still haven't been able to dedicate any time to BlueBrick... until now. After all, how could I possibly turn down a request from a fellow Lego fan? Here you go Richie. I hope you like it. During the next few days I will be working on some stuff which I have owed Alban for ages, so hopefully we can release version 1.6 some time in the near future. Happy building! Great job! Sorry for the long delay. This is the first time I have checked since my last post. Did you get my PM Message? Happy building!

Speaking of the "under construction list", I didn't get around to it on Friday night so I am about to do it now. Another great creation, thanks Rapseflaps! Only one more mad work week to go and I will hopefully be back with a vengeance.
-
Even more fantastic GIFs! I am clearly not pulling my weight anymore in this thread. Thanks Rapseflaps for these great contributions. I will add them to the index tomorrow evening. The week after next I will finally be able to add contibutions of my own. Right, break is over, back to work. Happy building!
-
Those look great! Thanks so much for your contributions. As soon as I have a proper internet connection on Friday (currently using a BlackBerry) I will add them to the index. I don't believe anyone is working on the toyshop. I am looling forward to seeing that! Could you put the car and motorbike in the service station GIF? To prevent the parts library from getting too cluttered we try to only separate the vehicles from the main Gif if there is no room on the baseplate. Thanks again for your great work!

Power Functions For Trains - XL Motor vs M Motor ?
missouri_bb63 replied to cagri's topic in LEGO Train Tech
I used two M Motors for my BR50 because they were easier to hide than one XL motor. The drawback was double the gearing and wires. Worked like a charm when it was done though. -
As promised, here are two revised GIFs based on your BMP files. I also noticed that the chef in the Snack Bar GIF has his hand sticking out over the edge slightly. Because of that and the overhanging door on the left it is hard to tell exactly which dimensions the model has in studs in length or width (which makes it tricky to rescale). It is best to avoid making any unnecessary overhangs when making GIFs but I think this re-scaling comes pretty close. Don't forget to make the XML files for your GIFs. You will need them for any sets that have overhangs so that will fit properly on the BlueBrick grid. This one is also a bit less fuzzy now. I just checked peeron concerning the baseplate of the beach house and it has it listed as a standard green. I will see if I can find the exact color somewhere. Happy building! EDIT: OK, I just had a look at quite a few pictures of the beach house using the image finder on google and on Brickshelf, and it really does seem to be a relatively dark green baseplate but it is always hard to tell because of the lighting. Here is one of the pictures I found. So perhaps it would be best to change it to standard green in MLCad too, or use the custom color pallet to make a color which you think is closer to the original.

Hi Thomas, you can send PM messages once you have made 10 post on Eurobricks. One more post and that feature should be available to you. I will try to work on the pictures this weekend.
-
Hi Rumpelmuck! I think I can see why the snack bar is looking a little squished. You have opened the door on the left side which is sticking out over the edge by about .25 of a stud. I am guessing that you might not have included that extra width when you re-sized the pic? Close the door just enough so there is no overhang and try it again. It should be fine then. Did you take the screen shot of the beach house with a different program? I noticed the other two GIFs are step pictures from MLCad. I am trying to figure out why the green is so different. Thanks for letting me know that Brickshelf was up and running again. Here are my very, very humble contributions. Its my last project week of the year next week so hopefully I will be able to provide more input again after that. GIF XML : 6388 Holiday Home GIF XML : 6613 Telephone Booth

Well it seems that Brickshelf is still having problems and Flickr won't support the XML files. Anyone got any ideas on how long one will not be able to upload files to Brickshelf? My two new GIFs are 6388 Holiday Home Peeron Link and 6613 Telephone Booth Peeron Link ... and I will post them as soon as I can find an upload solution.
-
I was going to post 2 new, small GIFs today as I haven't had a chance to do more over the past weeks, but it turns out that BrickShelf is having some issues. I guess you folk are also getting the "Uploading is temporarily disabled." message. If Brickshelf isn't up and running by the middle of the week I will post them on Flickr. Happy building!
-
Hi Thomas, those are great GIFs. The only issue seems to be that the baseplates of the two new GIFs are quite bright and your first two GIFs are a little fuzzy which might have happened during the resizing. Is there any chance you could post the original screen shots of all 4 GIFs on your Brickshelf page (also not adjusted for size), so I can adjust them according to the existing BlueBrick GIFs? Thanks. As everyone has noticed the BlueBrick thread is quite quiet at the moment. It seems like many of us (including Alban and myself), are snowed under with work and other tasks. Because of this the release date for 1.6 will be pushed back by several weeks. We will try to provide you with something new at the beginning of December. In the mean time please keep on posting if you have any more questions, suggestions, contributions etc!

You have done a great job of rebuilding those trains with your newly developed skills! The detailing and use of parts is now up to the same level as your more recent projects. I still like the old versions as well though. They have a real classic look to them.
-
Hi Thomas! I am not sure why you got the error message. Perhaps one needs to have a certain number of posts first. I will ask the moderator. I couldn't send you a PM either. Great GIFs so far. I love the classic stuff (I grew up with classic town and 12V trains and most of my GIFs are no older than the early 90s). How did you make the images? Did you do a direct image export from LDraw, or did you use a screen shot...? For post processing Eurobricks user "Aawsum" uses a freeware photo editing tool called GIMP which is similar to Photoshop and provides high quality results when resizing and adjusting color. It can also remove the white background that one can see on your Garage GIF. I am sure we'll find a way to give you the best images possible for your layout. There is an additional thread here where you can post the layout you are working on. I will add your models to the index, and I am looking forward to your next creations. Let me know if you have any more questions! (EDIT: I just noticed your images are attatched to the post. For me to be able to put them in the index they need to be linked to another website such as brickshelf or flickr.) (EDIT 2: I also just noticed that the 675 Snack Bar was already on the "Under Construction" list. I have now added the usernames of the people who have reserved these models.) (EDIT 3: The Brickster just found out that one have a minimum of 10 posts to be able to send a PM message so keep on posting! )
