Problems with BS / Is BrickShelf no more ???
Berry Syedow replied to john cleese's topic in General LEGO Discussion
This whole situation is really curious. Should we perhaps have a thread dedicated to information on Kevin since nobody seems to know anything about the guy? I'd like to know everything about his history. For one, why did he create brickshelf.com if he isn't a LEGO hobbyist?! (Was he at one point?) It seems like in the past people have offered his site assistance (to give it a better layout and whatnot), but the guy never took up any offers. This guy also seems to be persistent on not COMMUNICATING (I can not emphasize this enough) with the community. Does anyone remember if he gave a reason for shutting zerostuds.com down? From what I remember it simply disappeared after a few days of activity. And like others have mentioned already, surely someone must still be in control of the website if the back door was shut hours after being opened. If this is how brickshelf.com has to go down, I'm happy for brickimage.net because at the very least the site will be in the hands of LEGO enthusiasts, and I can bet more communication will be involved. /Getting steamed, man. -
Problems with BS / Is BrickShelf no more ???

I found this on bricklink.com: > Look here: https://www.brickshelf.com/ > Maybe they are moving to a secure site? > The search on the main page didn't seem to work for me, but the search page does > along with everything else. Most likely they forgot to shut this part of the site down. This would be a good chance to go grab all of your pictures while you still can! -Billy I was able to access brickshelf, so it should work for everyone else. Now is your chance to save your photos/other people's work. -
Excellent army and fort, Hussar! I kind of agree with your opinion of the cowboy hats. TLC needs to design a broader range. Welcome to Eurobricks by the way.

This Impulse line sounds exciting! I hope it turns out to be a bunch o' fig packs (especially that knight). Everything else is as expected. This must be the third year of ExoForce. It's good to see that it's doing well, even if I don't collect the stuff. :-P

I actually own this set. It's got a handful of useful pieces, but other than that it isn't anything special, and if you own any of the larger sets then there really isn't much of a point to get this except for novelty, army building, or collecting. But what the hey, if I saw one of these sitting on a store shelf, today, I'd probably buy it. 3.5/5 ~4/5 Against an entire lineup: 2/5 P.S. This set retailed for $7.25 According to Peeron.

Welcome, Darth Lion! You sound very excited to sign up. Did you lurk EB before signing up? ;-)

Howdy, MengShu! Those are some pretty nifty MOCs. I hope you enjoy your stay. :-)

Excellent idea! *y* Will this data be used for anything important or are you just goofing around? ;-)

What are your favorite movies?
Berry Syedow replied to Capn Kirk 911's topic in Culture & Multimedia
My comprehensive list of favorites with some commentary (in no order): Magnum Force ~(A very slick dirty hairy movie; still have yet to watch the entire original.) Good, Bad, Ugly ~(Very nice blend of action and humor; the three leads are great together; the music is terrific!) The Fugitive ~(Tommy Lee Jones is featured in one of his best roles.) The whole Indy collection A Christmas Story ~(I probably watched this over eight times during my last Christmas. :-P) The Terminator 2 ~(One of Arnold -
A forum dedicated to hot issues would bring more trouble than flies to a cow-pie. This sort of stuff is what divides communities instead of uniting them. Sorry if I sound harsh Mr. Norrington, I'd just hate to see EB fall apart. :-(

Sounds interesting Corpreal, but do you have a prize? Surely a life long dream to hold a contest should warrant a prize. ;-) I think EB has a pretty solid Jurassic Park Fanbase, so your contest should do fairly well. Good luck!

Sorry, but with the sort of expression my avatar has to keep up I cannot chill. *Looks at Hinckley real squinty like* (No winkies means serious business.)
-
Hot dog! That's an impressive army. I envy your collection of kettle helm knights. Those guys go for a pretty penny on bricklink (as do those dark grey kettle helms). Anyhow, welcome to the site!
-
Ah, if that's the case then I say more power to 'em!
-
Hinckley, one word comes to mind: "chill" ;-) You should be thankful that TLC even included an option to not receive the free item. :-P I agree that TLC should refrain from producing frivolous junk that's exclusive to their site and store, and if they must then they should sell the junk at a much cheaper rate than they are right now. (Over $100 for a single storage container is beyond ridiculous.) Wasn't the whole reason that they went bankrupt due to this very thing?! They're losing their focus again... But if an item with a useful application is free of charge, I'll surely not complain. (And, hey, we don't have an ice-cube tray where I live, so with my latest order I was more than happy to accept the free 'cube tray.)

I thought the whole point of the original seven wonders of the world was that there were no other man made creations like them? At this point in the game it's a little silly to limit the "wonders of the world" to a ridiculously tiny list of seven. And if I'm reading this right, the fact that people even had to vote just goes to show that we shouldn't limit the list to seven.

skeleton design discussion (new and old)...
Berry Syedow replied to Brick Miner's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Back on topic: I'm kind of undecided, here. On one hand I prefer the new torso design, but on the other hand I prefer the style of the original skeleton arm. Preferably, TLC would have redesigned the original skeleton arm to go along with the new skeleton torso. Alas, they substituted the redesigned droid arm to save money instead. While that's a good idea in theory, people are going to be dissatisfied with the end product, which this poll (along with the comments) does a good job of showing... We can always hope TLC releases a proper skeleton arm, though. If they do my vote will go to the new skeleton torso, but until then I shall remain undecided. -
Yeah, they're either scorpion helmets or the modified "winged-helmets".

Which might be a good indication, but I hope you're right. More sets that are on par with graveyard duel would be wonderful! It just seems like a lot of Harry Potter sets are hit or miss. Some have great design while others are dreadfully <insert that tiresome argument>.

I searched, but didn't find anything... so do what you will if this topic has already been discussed. A certain thread in Bricklink's forum says the end of Harry Potter is near: LINK If Harry Potter is to be discontinued it will be most unfortunate for those of us who enjoy collecting LEGO accessories and whatnot. At the very least we got a new hair-do from the latest hogwarts castle set. Meh. :-/

Hmm, hmm, hmm, I think I'll reserve judgement until we have better pictures of this set. To answer Brickminers question: I'm mainly interested in the elements of sets in general. The set itself is secondary (unless it's well designed or has uncommon pieces) and is otherwise disregarded as a parts pack. From what I can make out it looks like this will be a parts pack set with some neat-o minifig elements. I hope TLC releases some smaller sets featuring the dwarfs so I don't have to shell out a huge sum of cash. I like where TLC is headed, though! They just need to work on creating better designed structures. I'd like to see some mid-sized ones such as a tower or outpost of some sort in the future.
-
I'm cautiously optimistic. The trailer was most excellent and the graphics and humor were spot on. The voices didn't do it for me, however I noticed that in the beginning segment that a few fig heads from older sets were shown. Any elements from "older" sets is a always a nice surprise. I wonder just how many discontinued elements this game will contain. Stuff like the "pitchfork" and those tall green trees would be most welcome as well as all of the old hinge components.

I wonder if this is the work of the Ambassadors? Nevertheless a chess set without glue is a cause for celebration. Like I already mentioned earlier, I doubt I'll buy this at full price, what with all the other excellent army builders already out there, but when this hits half price I'm there! ;-)
