Post your general LEGO Star Wars questions here
legolandia replied to XimenaPaulina's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I have seen on Bricklink that there is a new spy droid for sale (the one with magnifying glass, etc). Does anyone know which set that comes in please? -
I am exactly like you. I never rebuild the sets and simply display them for vewing pleasure. Lego has never re-released anything. If we get another UCS MF it will not be exactly the same as the previous version. It will have several subtle changes and as such the exclusivity of the previous models will not be ruined.

Why would you feel robbed? If you bought the set because you like it then you can continue to enjoy it for years to come. It becomes an "antique" however that doesnt mean it devalues. If you bought that set as an investment then I'm afraid I have no sympathy for you at all. I don't see why the thousands of people who want it today should be punished for the sake of few hundred people that bought the Falcon back in the day. When you purchased the set it did not come with the guarantee that it will never be made again.

Isn't that ship the same as medical frigates of Clone Wars?

Hope you guys can help with a couple of questions I have: Is the UCS Sandcrawler set likely to be available to buy until the end of this year? Does anyone know when the next Lego sale will be? And last does anyone know of any other webshop in the UK that stocks the Sandcrawler (apart from Smyths)? -
Is this a new polybag or one of the old ones?
-
In terms of continuity this set makes sense because it compliments the UCS X-wing. However the price is all wrong. I can see this is going to be one of the heavily discounted sets (like B-wing was).

I think the main issue you have got is the fact that your Lego collecting habit is very broad. You need to narrow your choice to one or two particular themes of Lego. I have never understood how some people buy items for their collection and stash them away in a loft or keep them in boxes. To me a collection is something which is displayed so that I can enjoy it every time I go past it. Personally I have narrowed my Lego collection to just Star Wars minifigures (1 of each, including different colourways, variations, etc). That is my main collection (one which I display in special glass covered cabinets hung on the wall at the side of the stairs. Now and again I will indulge myself in collecting particular Lego minifigures which are non SW which I might like (for example, LotR, Simpsons, etc). I also buy specific Star Wars ships and vehicles (large ones such as ISD, SSD, Venator, etc) mainly UCS. I usually buy sets when they are on offer on Amazon and other shops. I keep the minifigures that I need and sell the rest of the set on ebay.

Bootleg Super Heroes minifigs - worth it or not?
legolandia replied to KingPixels's topic in Community
I just stumbled upon this thread (usually hang out just in the SW forum) and it's got me slightly worried. I collect minifigures and buy a lot from Bricklink. Is there a way to tell between the original Lego minifigures and the fake ones? By what I have seen I am starting to think that a lot of the Bricklink minifigures could potentially be fake ones. -
Looking forward to the Constraction sets. I think the best Ep 7 sets will be the ones released in January next year which is perfect timing as well because all the kids would have just finished watching the film and enjoyed all their presents and they will need a boost durng the January lull. Very likely a lot of kids will be asking for money or vouchers this Christmas.

I remember a while back when Lego started to introduce flesh coloured heads with intricate designs and after a while people started to complain and yearn the long lost yellow head with a simple smiley. It's the same story with the capes. As far as I am concerned the capes are perfect. Sometimes simplicity is better than complexity. And particularly with jedi minifigures the capes work very well since they portray what they are supposed to be: a plain item of clothing which is very functional and offers warmth, protection and disguise (as and when required).
-
I am getting a little bit confused with the "better quality cape" topic. Are people suggesting that Lego should make printed capes with patterns on them or that they should make better shapes than the current basic one?
-
If true the news is excellent. About time that Lego expanded into construction which may include character busts, iconic buildings (hint hint) and so on.

Actually in the EU the Falcon did get a repaint (blue and white if I am not mistaken). Didnt hear many fans screaming then... It may have initially been a hunk of junk but through the years the ship got fitted with a hell of a lot of latest weaponry that it was quite cutting edge. Obviously this was all in the EU and we dont really know what future awaits the Falcon in the new Disney era but I dont see why a custom paint job would be out of the question. A black paint job would actually make it stealthy since it wouldnt be visible in the pitch black of space. The main feature that distinguishes the Falcon is its shape.

My first thought was: That is a weird elongated B-Wing hybrid with some strange flat and very large tail section. I certainly hope it is not a represnetative of the ship design in Ep 7. However I do hope that we get some nice variations of the Star Destroyer and other capital ships. I thought it was a shame that JJ missed the opportunity to give us a Falcon with a new colourscheme.

Lego signed a contract with Lucas films not long before the Disney purchase so not sure how Disney's acquisition would affect the prices. I would rather say that the price hike is very likely Lego itself trying to milk the hype that is and will be created over the Ep 7.

Does anyone know when the double VIP points offer comes on please? I haven't missed it already have I? -
I think if you look closer it is very likely that the advent calendar Rieekan is different from the previous model. Lego tends to change small parts of the design so as to maintain the individuality of each minifigure. So the 2013 variants continue to remain as rare as they were. I am primarily a minifigure collector and I would much rather have a minifigure which is available to everyone to buy than a super rare minifigure like the 'I love NY' Yoda which costs a fortune to get. The only minifigures that my collection is missing are the Cloud City Boba, Gold C3PO and I <3 NY Yoda and quite frankly I have no intention of buying them either (for the stupid amounts of money that they sell for).

A beautiful set for which I have been waiting for a while. Definitely a must buy for me. It makes me laugh how one minute some people complain about accuracy of the set and the next some others ask for minifigures which were nowhere near the scene. No matter what Lego does there will always be someone who is disappointed. I doubt very much if this Boba or any others in the future will ever increase in price the same as the Cloud City Boba. I believe that Cloud City Boba is the only publicly sold set minifigure to have bloated in value that much. And if I am not mistaken the reason for the high price is because not many Cloud City sets were sold at the time (?).

I am not a hardcore LSW fan and neither agree nor disagree with this statement. However I would ask if this is based on assumption or on any particular research?
-
Thank you for that picture. Very helpful. Not sure why some people have been complaining about but it looks to me that the new AT AT is pretty accurate and certainly a decent size compared to the rest of them.
-
That may be the case in the films but we are talking about a toy. And one which is smaller than the original version if I'm not mistaken?
-
I dont understand all this hatred and why people are clinging so much to the fact that the new MTT has less droids. The new MTT has less droids however it does include other minifigures as well. And if one wanted to you can buy lots of droids for pennies on Bricklink.

You have not been keeping an eye on Amazon sales then. They are by far the best. It is somewhere between the Midi version and the old larger version. Not one for me I'm afraid. I'll stick to the old version I have.
-
Exactly my thoughts. I do hope it is a Trade Federation battleship (Saak'ak was its name if I am not mistaken). The fans have been begging for a long time for TF battleships. I'd love to see some pics of the AT-AT. The ISD looks a bit on the chubby side to me. Even chubbier than the old version. Almost half price soon if you are patient
