  1. Well I'm happy to report that the shape does indeed work. I redid the angles very carefully, and now have one where all the hinges managed to align and fit correctly. Here's the best version (small sphere) LDD link Guess Ill edit the old links too.. Thanks for the pic Holodoc Maybe I'll try that kind someday, it looks fairly possible....
  2. It has an interesting rounded shape, which seems to work with the new windscreen and overhanging roof over it. I'm thinking though, might be better with a single landing gear in front. The two white grills near the front of each wing seem a little out of place (they break up the smooth shape) and, could the big black stripe along each side (at windscreen level) could be partly exchanged for clear bricks to make windows?, this would fit well with the current front windscreen and overhanging roof look...
  3. Actually, its 50$USD, not 100, but thats still a lot. Though really with a 420 piece count I suppose that makes sense. I guess playability is a major factor in percieved value. (maybe I should add a few minifigs ) Anyway, I did make a smaller version, which came out to 25$USD. Half the price is a bit better. And even tho smaller probably just as worthwhile in terms of impressive geometric-ness. LDD link
  4. Did some teaking since first upload and got more hinges into alignment... The shape itself (Dodecahedron) is fine. Biggest reason why some hinges dont want to connect is I positioned the bricks using LDD's built-in hinge rotation tool, so the angles are not all exactly identical and a few areas aren't lined up just right. When doing this in real bricks, that's not an issue since the act of clicking things together will push things into alignment.
  5. I was bored, and decided to make this in LDD (not imported from cad, just lots of carefully adjusting hinge angles and copy/paste) Perhaps it could be very useful as part of a space station? or a moonbase biosphere? ancient alien artifact of ultimate power? LDD annoyingly did not allow many hinges to connect, so they're left sitting nearby the real locations, simple enough to fix if you acually buy one.... I was suprised at the price, seems high? LDD small variant Well I guess the main thought to take away from this is, that It is possible to make those cool geometric things, without needing too many specialized(rare) technic connectors. You just need lots and lots of beam plates....
  6. Looking closely at the red cones on the missles, and grey cones on the car's rear These appear to be a new piece. Note how there is a slight stopper ridge at the base of their top stud. Interestingly, the trans green cones on the helicopter seem to be of the older mould style.
  7. Nice design. I especially like the garden and walkway area outside, official sets seem to lack detail in this department. How did the price come out?
  8. Neat little set. I do like the parts a number of hard to find bits all in one pack, depending on how much it costs in USD I'll have to consider it. And while the buggy designs kinda suck, I'm a little happy to see them, its been years since TLC made any small go kart style vehicles. I guess Tiny Turbos have been overshadowing that market?
  9. Looks like TLC noticed this post and 'fixed' the cheaper price bug. Their solution seems to be... checking price on these combos of bricks gives an error in LDD and any uploaded models that contain these combos have 'server errors' thus you can't buy em. Basically, now in LDD All turntables in a model must be the same color. No mixed white and black ones within the same model. Dumb solution if you ask me, since while rare, it might potentially mess someone's design plans up... I'm guessing, they couldnt leave a bug relating to prices lying around, but also couldn't do a full update on LDD itself, hence they put a fix on server side that just rejects that brick combo. Only reason I noticed and made the connection is cause one of my models consistently had price check errors and I removed one brick at a time till it stopped... But I can potentially see a kid becoming frustrated if one of their creations falls into this situation. Not good Well, I guess its good to know they are listening, even if their solution kinda sucks.... HEY TLC, fix the pneumatic T connector piece, the center arm doesnt like to connect in the same way the ends do. Clip vs Hole, try it.
  10. I find it a little odd that these two sets are basically the same idea, a car with boat on trailer. Just different sized. I feel like I'd only need to get the smaller one really, since it covers the concept...
  11. Some people reported seeing the new Agents and Coast Guard and MM sets in some TRU stores. That was in CA I think. But I think the east coast tends to get things sooner than west, so the chances are good of seeing those. But possibly not in the actual Lego Shop, they seen to get stuff After TRU for some reason...
  12. If there was a female Paradisa minifig I'd buy but there's not ohwell nice idea at least
  13. Nice pics Especially interested in that space wing piece in dkstone (see the front of the boat trailer) haven't had one of those in quite a while Those new balloon tyres look nice and spacey too how do they compare in size to the existing ones in techinc sets?
  14. Neat looks much less like a box on wheels now I like how you overlap the two big wheels, they always looked too.... skeletal to me on the origonal, having them overlap reduces the appearance I'm thinking one improvement could be, if that flap on the rear could open up to unload Drones (like the side walls on the official ver did) Then you'd have all the same features but a superior appearance.
  15. Neat idea you could almost built it in LDD just wish they hadn't gotten rid of the female face in last update stuck with the generic androgyne face...
  16. I guess the issue is the Martians were designed purely as cannon fodder for the Humans to point their ray guns at? Hence, terrible Martian minifig design, bad ships that arent as popular, resulting in not many big Martian sets? There's not even a story like with EF to make them into Evil Characters, they're just wierd green jelly things... Too bad really.... I wish the Martians had been given better thought. Say a decent new minfig...with enough character to deserve actual cockpits and windscreens on their ships perhaps? Just think, transparent neon green windscreens could've made a come back.... I think, given how ... wierd the situation is with the old Martians and the new 'Commanders'; maybe a good set might be a 'Martian Hive' with some implications for how the different styles of minifig relate to one another in an alien life cycle? brick built cocoons? some kinda Martian queen (probably made of many bionicle parts)? maybe a factory where their semi-organic looking flyers are 'grown'?
  17. Looks better with dual gun arms I think... And based on the black/yellow striping there, I'm thinking the name is now Stinger
  18. I actually don't mind that the Drone's mechas have traditionally lacked cockpit windows and whatnot. Seeing as how they're robots, piloting robots I guess I think of it as more like they're strapping on a prosthetic body, than acting as a pilot in a vehicle. Hence having their head exposed as the mecha's head seems okay...
  19. NICE! Finally an Actual Mining Vehicle in MM and for the more bloodthirsty fans, it turns into a scarab tank. The cargo boxes are nice too, seeing as how the other MM sets kinda neglected the idea of actually transporting the mined crystals... I see what ya mean about it being either an EF or MM set. Look really closely at the alien flyer, see the Drone face in the nose? Also, look really closely at that tiny 'scooter', do you see what I see? a nod to classic space?
  20. Welp I think I did the Astro Dasher a little better now. the lower 'wings' are now thrusters, while the upper ones have the green lights like on the orginal. Astro Dasher LDD ?larger models? havent ya seen my stuff lying around here...
  21. Nice One! Your color changes look really good. Bumblebee. And good thinking with the window replacement. I don't know whats up with TLC... they gave us the new brick pallate and it seems they swapped out those train windows with simpler moulded variants, but then they still have yet to get them into stock, so we can't buy em! Same with the new sticker sheets, I just cant use em yet...
  22. Thanks I think part of the issue with Astro Dasher, is that on the original I wasnt sure Exactly what all those ?space wings? ?antennas? all over it were mean't to be. Hence the identity of the new parts with technic connectors was also a little questionable. I guess they may be some kinda thrusters? What do you think the original model was trying to portray with those parts?
  23. Silly looking little flyer. If its an impluse set like the on to the left, then it'll probably also cost the same 3.5$USD right? But Isn't the Astro Fighter for 5$USD a superiour set(parts at least) that is basically the same concept? I'm not seeing why I'd ever buy this till it gets on clearance... There was also a little alien flyer impulse. So far only the Robot/Crate is what i've seen in store... where are the other two?
  24. Made a little collection of space scooters, remade with modern/available bricks. From left to right: 1875 Meteor Monitor 1974 Star Quest 6805 Astro Dasher 1916 Starion Patrol 6803 Space Patrol What ya think? I'm not too sure how well the Astro Dasher turned out... When ya get a whole bunch of cute little sets in one pack, it almost seems worth the price. Theyre about 5$USD each I guess. Plenty of transparent bits for sure. LDD Link
  25. Looks neat so far What will you use for books? maybe 1*2 tiles? Not sure if that would fit in the shelves tho
