  1. Just discoverd this too. Very Very Bad TLC! Patches are supposed to make things Better Not add a bunch of useless sound effects, and Break stuff that was fine to begin with. my current workaround for fixing the legs: find one of my old (small) models where they are properly connected, and Import it into new model, then keep the old minifig. (this kinda thing can be important for very close fitting cockpits)
  2. Sounds like, he was trying to fill out the 'Lost Brick' request form, but accidentally selected the wrong box and filed it as a 'Replacement Part' request. Not that far off since they're both on the same page.
  3. I havent actually used the Lost Brick form before, only asked for Replacements when I've had a problem with a new set out of box. So I don't know if they prefer you to buy Lost ones; but Replacement stuff is generally free(since it was their fault). I'd guess, since you filled out the form for Replace they'd just go with that and try to send em to you free. I've yet to see them actually ask someone to Prove it was really their mistake, etc. So its not like you'll be in trouble or anything. Don't bother feeling guilty about it if they do send you a free part, just keep it; the cost of mailing it back to them and having them reprocess it would be more than the value of the brick itself.
  4. That one came from Stealth Hunter 7700 (exo force). It's trimmed from the center of some armour panel sticker... Well, Im all out of transparent 1*2 tiles.... I guess I could use up some 1*2*1 smoke bricks (without center tube).. but thats not quite as cool looking as a flat panel.
  5. So I finally broke down and tried stickers. I was just so tired of not having any good printed tiles for Space control panels. But I did it on my terms: Previously (and Im sure many agree) I have been against stickers because over time they peel or get dirty and start to just look bad. But here I've managed to bypass this issue, so they're acceptable to me in this siutation. Can you see what I did? Yep, those stickers are on the Inside of the bricks. So there's no danger of them rubbing on stuff and peeling. This only works with the transparent plastic stickers of course, not the paper ones (which won't work backwards thru the plastic) Its not perfect of course, see the orange control panel? thats the Space Skulls sticker, and the backside is rather washed out. This doesn't bother me much, since it still looks really awesome; transparent orange 'holographic' control panel. Exo Force stickers work particularly well backwards, especially the Drone's silvery stuff. trorange and tryellow tiles seem to work best, (seem to enhance contrast) with blue and red being the least visible... also the brick underneath the tile matters a lot. Oh, and it takes a lot of patience and a steady hand to carefully trim the stickers to fit; since the inside of the brick is a bit smaller than the outside...(hmmmh, not tardis....) Anyhows, I'm very happy with the results, got myself a handful of very cool looking 'holographic' control panels. So those of you who had also been against stickers, consider using them for this special situation.
  6. Thanks I've been wondering How?? do you find these things? Is there some special webpage I dont know about? instructions sure dont seem to show up when I search for them off lego.com
  7. Nice I'm definetly going to have to get one. ....Which One though? It is kinda saddening that they didnt sell well (my lego shop always had a shelf full) I guess TLC probably won't be following up this experiment with any more AFOL space.... I guess I didnt buy em earlier because... I keep thinking Id rather buy one of my own Factory designs plus Mars Mission was out and looking pretty good, with their Printed torsos
  8. Actually, since these are designed to unclick easilly. at times they can work inwards a little, letting the inner hubcap of the wheel brush the chassis leading to friction my fix for this is to leave a tiny gap so even if the hubcap locks up the wheel itself rolls independantly. but this is an annoyance....
  9. Not Sure how many of you like Racers but have you seen the new tyres on Mud Hopper? Look awesome don't they? Well, strangest thing, perhaps its a USA manufacturing supply problem? (maybe a EU Racers fan can comment) over here we get these tyres instead: Not the ones on the box cover Very lame, same old tyres I already have! And the Only reason I buy these ridiculous pull back motor racers is for the new parts! There doesnt seem to be any mention of any inventory difference on peeron at any rate... And the replacement parts section of TLC Customer service Does list the cool new ones, not these old things. So I put in the request, and a week later or so later they send me the new tyres. Anyway, just wanted to point out that TLC really has great customer service Tyres are some of the most expensive pieces there are and they let me have em. p.s. what is up with the wierd old ones they seem to be packed with instead? regional thing? supply problems?
  10. Yep, boring instructions nowadays. I tend to either: skip pages and try to fill in the gaps on my own. or read the whole book once, then try to build the set from memory without peeking It keeps things lively in otherwise mind numbingly dumb instructions....
  11. I've gotten a lot of them in the past. Especially when they go on sale, Ive bought many multiples for the parts. This year though, Only felt the need to get two of them, for a pair of glow lightsabers, and a pair of glow wedges. Aside from that not too inspiring parts... Also, this year the individual sets dont have any of the nice big truck wheels(which work well in minifig scale), 3/4 are shiny hubcap ones, and only 1 had the slick racer wheels. Thats really the only thing thats stopping me from buying more Tiny Turbos, the funky shiny 'hotweels' type wheels that are starting to dominate... they dont look good when reused in minifig scale.... Good Bad
  12. Saw mine update today too. No clue what it does. Bricks all seem the same, prices seem the same. Bricks I've complained about in the past are still broken. Sticker prices are still broken. Who knows what it was for. 30megs or so
  13. Looks really neat nice teeth I suspect if you wanted to make it look more Space Skull-ish you cuold replace the blues with reds. BTW You Don't have to wait a day(or weekend in this case) for the model to be approved before you can buy it, (or for the rest of us to download it). Just go into your My Lego Factory section of the gallery to view your own models. Even though it hasnt been approved yet, you can click 'check price on it' then copy down that url. The rest of us can still download it via that link even tho it isnt listed in the main gallery.
  14. Check out these awesome Mars Rover wheels. See the Flick Fire Missiles?
  15. I like the shape, especially in the 3rd photo. an undernose cannon would look really great in that pose. I could see it swooping in for strafing ground targets. one thing that bothers me though is it seems to have a few too many spikes and protrusions. like all those lime wedges and the red claw and sword bits. maybe you could smooth things out a bit.
  16. Seeing as how this MOC didnt get noticed (got lost in the SpaceDock forum merge i guess) Here's some photos of a Piranha made with my RealBricks. Since this is made with my own bricks (not ordered from LDD) some colors and parts are changed, most visibly the location of yellow on wings, and the grilles are black than yellow. It really does photograph better in person than when LDD draws it. Guess its too much white and lack of real shadows that makes it hard to visualize digitally. But yeah Its a cool little fighter. With a good price designed for mass production. I'm really proud of the SNOT work on the sides, its quite strong. Add one to your fleet.
  17. Landing gear sounds neat, if it can be made to work. Potentially a winch cable to flip the legs up/down can be a lot smaller than technic gears and whatnot. I'm not a Castle fan, but drawbridge?
  18. Well I guess its nice that they're making the story background a little more clear. With that jelly plugged into the power cable... Hmmh, both Jellies and crystals can be used as power sources, think theres a connection? both of them are transparent and greenish... Maybe Jellies hatch from crystals like eggs? or need them as food? or something important like that? Yay for evil humans.
  19. I havent had the time to experiment with it. But I was thinking it may be good for a minifig scale forklift? where you could push the forks down, load cargo, then press the button to raise them up? It would be a step up from the simple spring loaded forklifts, if you could get that winch hooked into some kinda small pulley system.
  20. This Piece I have far far too many of them. Tiny Turbos make awesome parts packs usually, but lately TLC has a habit of giving them all these uselessly ugly wheels. They look terrible in Space, and pretty bad in Town MOCs too. Seriously, I miss these
  21. Well, the ground level corridor Does show up in the moonbase standard instructions. http://www.zemi.net/moonbase/images/moonbase_heights.jpg I'm just puzzled as to why no one ever uses them as far as I've seen. Is the ground so unpopular?
  22. Thanks for the support. Here's my current mock-up Just to get a sense of scale, none of those walls are actually connected to the (floating) dome. and of course theres plenty of gaps to be filled in. Not even sure I'm keeping the slopes yet... Thats a 'stressed element' octagonal building. and off to one side, you can see a moonbase standard ground level corridor. Might hook that up in one wall.... But I've never actually seen anyone do a ground level corridor, whats up with that?
  23. Sort of. Thing is, all the angles are identical. So I can use the clone bricks tool to repeat it. Hard part was getting the first angle right though. Basically what I did was, adjust it to look approx right, clone it onto my hex and penta frames, then try to fit them together. Then seeing that its either too wide or narrow an angle, hit the Undo button a buncha times, readjust it. then repeat the process of cloning and reattaching, and seeing how it fits.... Must have done that at least 10 times over till I found the angle that actually let everything fit together... Since LDD doesnt let you type in an exact angle (have to mousedrag it by hand) precision was very hit and miss.... Anyhow, for the base of the dome, I'm thinking it Might be adequate to have an octagonal building. I've been 'stressing the bricks' and found that I can get a 45 degree wall by using a triangle of 12 by 12 by 17 studs that fits close enough... (reality is 12 by 12 by 16.97 studs) but thats tolerable right?
  24. After previous success with dodecahedron shapes in LDD, decided to take the concept a bit further. It's an agricultural dome for a space base. Later it'd be filled with plants. So, its still in progress. At the moment the dome itself works pretty good, and I've located spots where it can mount onto a more normal brick structure (see the yellow studs at the bottom). Problem is, what sorta structure to mount it on. I'd rather not just place it direct onto a baseplate since thats awfully plain looking. I'm thinking a large circular wall all around the base would be good. Something like the domes in this screenshot. where theres a collar around the base of the dome for machinery and airlocks. (from the space colony game 'Outpost') Of course, building a circular wall like that is a challenge in itself. Any suggestions? Notes: the dome by itself costs about 36$USD so far. Decent price I say... I might just have to buy one later...
  25. Updating bricks? there was like a month ago a new brick update but that was... a while ago and when i got it didnt remove my old models, just made them non-uploadable so either, your copy somehow broke or maybe youre looking for your models in the wrong folder? no clue really... OK, try searching your hard drive for *.lxf files
