  1. Perhaps Atticus was/is the Maginastra's boss, (or one of several bosses). Years are years. If Alexandre has been alive for 40 years, it should say 40 on his profile. If that means (to you) he acts like a twenty year old, that's up to you as a player to bring out in his interactions an reactions to stuff.
  2. I'm not quite sure what you mean here. Should I write that I (chromeknight) am 36? That info is available on my profile. Should I write that Nerwen acts like a woman in her mid-twenties? That can be found out by interacting with her. Or that she had been alive for 261 actual years in the world of Heroica? Should I write that Nerwen has a daughter who is nearly 100 herself, that she's been 'married' (well contacted would be a better word, but sounds more impersonal and mechanical) so that the analogy with a 20 something human doesn't quite hold, she has so much more life experience than that. Nerwen is an adult by the standards and mores of her home community, but not an 'elder' by a long stretch. But writing all this in my signature or profile robs others of the opportunity to actually ask and interact...
  3. This feels like thread necromancy, replying to something from 5 pages ago, even though it was less than 24 hours... I think I commented before that just because someone is genetically elvish (pointy eats, eerily beautiful, +5 to agility) doesn't make them culturally elvish (being able to speak an Elven dialect, being smug and superior, being a kick-butt archer). Moreover, there are multiple elvish communities, with their own history and culture anyway (eg. Brickdoctor's Brobric elves). For elves that have been around lots of humans, 20 is grown up and adult, for others who lived among their own, they might still not be fully mature in their outlook until 50 or later. So many of the cues about age come from clothing choice and speech patterns, both of which are player controlled and don't conform well to a strict standard, even if there was one. Anyway, that's my two gold on the topic (as a player of an elvish character who is elvish)
  4. Sorry Xander, I did not see you were hurt also. Would you like to save your potion and let me heal you, that way you can still strike the enemy. I have not had much success in doing so. If Xander wants, Nerwen will heal Xander from the back row. Otherwise Nerwen will attack the swordsman again from the front row this time.
  5. Noticing a streak of red soaking into Galen's clothes Nerwen asked, Are you alright? Do you need healing?
  6. Nerwen did not have the reach to strike the swordsman while standing back, but could not risk stepping much closer, wary as she was of his sharp blade. She repeated her attack sneering at the swordsman from the back row taunting him to step closer into the range of her hammer.
  7. Nerwen gasps the hammer again as foes arrayed themselves before the party. She singled out the swordsman and, since her hammer did not have the reach or spread of the teal blade carried by the soldier, she swung from the back row.
  8. Nerwen nodded at the decision and helped Xander load his horse with the weapons. Let us make haste. The traitor already has a long lead on us. Farewell heroes. We will catch up again in the hall.
  9. Yet again, another Runblestrike quest with the final battle aborted because some hero sides with the 'villain'. It's becoming a trademark. But really, good quest all round. Loved following it, and your mocs complimented the story brilliantly.
  10. -Crafting hat on.- One Diamond + One Topaz + One Amethyst + One Ruby + One Sapphire + One Garnet + One Opal + One Aquamarine + One Emerald + One Mythril + A Dragon's flame = One Zirconia -Crafting hat off Sound about right?
  11. Nerwen moves over to the young elf. Recalling him slightly from the hall she says. Quel re. Mani nai lle umien? (Good day, what have you been doing?)
  12. Could have been worse. I could have left you alive and then used the bandwagon to run you down hard. You'd never have lived that down...
  13. The recent events took Nerwen a little while to process. In the elvish way often she could be standing and hearing, but also meditating and recalling past events in order to shed light on the present. Little Nerwen had seen or done had prepared her for the confusion that seemed to be perpetrated by the lack of communication between the Emperors, or more correctly, their minions and underlings. However the thinking over colour theory taught to her by an uncle when she was quite young, Nerwen now had some idea about the potions. Seeing Arthur raising it to his lips she stepped forward, bold enough to put her hand on his arm and stay Arthur's motion of drinking the potion. Please wait. I have been thinking about the potions, I believe they are beneficial, but they are a reward and perhaps you might let De'kra drink it. I think purple, the colour of magic, may enhance ether. Red, the potion I hold enhance health. Green is possibly strength and blue perhaps defensive in some way. At least that is my idea from thinking about colours. De'kra, you've been very talkative since meeting this mage, I take it you know and trust him? You've said more in the last little while than in the whole quest previous. Is he connected to your past somehow?
  14. You are right. We should go now. We have done what was asked of us.
  15. Xander has the spears, Cronk, Sarick and I are carrying the swords and sabers, are there any weapons left to carry? Where has Russel got to?
  16. Nerwen uses two short prices of rope from her satchel to bundle the spears together and beckons Xander over to help carry them. She suggests to Sarick he use a ice spell to freeze the locks on the chest so the can be shattered by a strong blow, or a lightning spell if they're mechanical, If he thinks that would work.
  17. Nerwen moves quickly, inspecting the area behind the black grill and also opening the two chests. Turning to De'kra she says... Perhaps you should put that elven cloak you were telling me about on, then if we meet enemies, you might be able to tell us about them. She also takes the two swords that look like they are of elven manufacture. (ie., the katanas)
  18. Yes, but as an RPG, (rather than a tabletop wargame) there are two sides to playing. There's playing as a character, which, as you say is simple and easy. And then there's actually running the game as a QuestMaster, which, as anyone who's done it can tell you, is a lot more complicated and time consuming. Playing a wargame properly means you need to know the appropriate rules in order to make informed tactical choices about movement, attack, defence and other actions. More complicated than playing Sandy's Heroica as a character, less than playing it as a QM
  19. Nerwen hand over the 20 gold for a tonic and thanks Miguel
  20. Nerwen is put off by the man's reaction, clearly there was more going on for him than simple drunkenness. I would be happy to return to the marketplace if more stalls are open. It could not hurt to look.
  21. If his highness will excuse the use. Nerwen takes one remedy from the crates and uses it to cure the other worker's drunkenness. She then stands him on his feet. Reaching into her satchel she pulls out 5 gold and gives it to him, saying, Wife or not, you have a friend who wants to look after you, a job to do and, who knows, no doubt a destiny to fulfill. You cannot honor those things drunk on the ground. And if you absolutely must escape your life, no doubt you can accompany us and escort these supplies to the front lines. Either way, go in peace with Galadrya's blessing.
  22. Is there anything we can do to help him? Sarick, should Cronk or I carry the medical supplies? We are less likely to fall in battle and lose them.
  23. In terms of setting up a consistent arc for your character, you might like to look at spending a little time answering these questions. They don't lock you into anything, but they do light up the road ahead of you a little. Who Are You? (hopefully more than just a name, some titles perhaps, or secret identities/ aliases) Where Are You From? (again, more than a place name, have an idea about what that place is like.) Why are you here? List three things your character does better than the average (insert class here) List three things your character does worse than the average (classmate) List three things everyone knows about you List three things no one knows about you List three things you believe are true List three things you want but don’t have List three things you have but don’t want Once you've got some secrets, some beliefs and some goals (getting what you want, getting rid of what you don't). You're on your way! Hope this helps (someone, somewhere!).
  24. Nerwen steps forward and speaks in a commanding tone. Right lads! Step to. We're here for the medical supplies. This soldier here has the seal and signature. Let's see the goods.
  25. Nerwen's sharp elven hearing had also caught what the man had said. At the suggestion to move on to the docks she nodded her assent, and moved toward the door.
