  1. I was wondering this same thing the other day. Even though they contain more plastic than the average piece they are comparable to tree or 4 large pieces by weight. I would certainly buy more if they where sold for less or even if they where sold at the same price in a greater variety of colors. Also the last set that I remember with a large baseplate would be either Market street or Town plan, whichever came later.
  2. Sorry if this has been posted before but I found this while searching the internet: http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/mahjqa/A...resentation.pdf This was very interesting as I seems to be from before 2009 and now we can see some of the sets mentioned here coming true- (10196 Merry-go-round and Farm sets). Could some of these other sets be produced soon?
  3. I agree with every one who has said they would like to wait. I can still remember the excitement when I fist saw CC in a store in disney world. I'm glad that the pictures were removed and I will eagerly await for TLC to release them.
  4. The way I am quoted above it sounds like I don't like trains. I think that I will build a train but I would also like to buy one. I was thinking about the Emerald Night but I don't have the money for that now and it's not 9v. The most inexpensive train set that I could find in bricklink was 3747-1 but I don't know what is included. Is this set a good buy for someone restarting their train collection?
  5. Thank you It seems like there is nothing to do but it is frustrating when people don't read what they are buying before they buy it.
  6. This is a great article and it has inspired me not to buy a lego train, but to search through my closet for the old motor somewhere in there. Before this I have just been using some straight tracks to go behind some of my buildings as a subway but now I am off to find the rest of my 9v train stuff. So far I have found the motor and all but one of the curved track pieces for a circle, sadly this means that I cant run a train on it yet
  7. To start off I think that this is in the right section but I don't know. I have a bricklink store and today for the second time someone backed out of a purchase after sending me an invoice. I could understand if it where for a different reason but both have been because the person didn't read the condition of the minifigure for sale. Is there a way tho prevent this from happening and has this happened to anyone else?
  8. I agree the Viking like was good and I missed out on it. Another set I wanted as a kid was #10036. It's on Bricklink for only $7 over the original price, I might pick one up.
  9. I voted town because like others have said you can't have one without the other. If however we are counting Modular Houses as seperate from the town theme (like TLC does) then this choice becomes allot harder.
  10. This was my first pirate ship ever and I still like it. This is an average set but compared to others of it's time it was pretty good. I never knew the compass was a rare piece (I have 2 or 3) but this adds to the ships value. Thanks for reviewing the largest pirate set I had as a kid.
  11. I think that the boxes are so big because they need to be the same size as other similarly priced toys on the shelves. Compared to other toys however there is way less packaging in lego boxes. For green sets I think they could use more foliage in their sets and add some printed tiles as solar panels on some of the houses.
  12. This is probably my favorite Indy set yet. With 4 figs and lots of accessories in such a small set it is perfect. The only improvements would have been to add the money with a fez or the other sword. Still for only $10 I will probably buy 2.
  13. The Sidewalk goes back 7-8 studs (It depends on where you measure from) and the technic pin is 10 studs back from the front. The alleyway in the back is also 8 studs long. When building the set it should go like this from front to back- sidewalk 8 studs at widest, 1 stud of the building, the technic brick (2 studs), 10 studs of the building, another technic brick, 1 stud of the building, and 8 studs of the alley. I hope this helps you.
  14. Thank you all for the welcome, and to all the people that recommended Classic Pirates.com this was how I discovered Eurobricks in the first place, and is one of my favorite Forums.
  15. While I was watching the last Mythbusters episode (with the giant Lego ball) I was inspired to build this MOC: http://www.flickr.com/photos/37952096@N04/3489259449/ (It's on Flickr because I can't seem to load the pictures here)
  16. I suspected a win for Star wars but right now it's 24-24. I voted Pirates because I think that it is more creative than the SW sets. The SW sets are also more expensive per part and concentrate on the vehicles. The recent sets - New pirates and the Clone Wars sets only tip the scale further in my opinion to the Pirates.
  17. Hello everyone, my name is Tom and I am very excited to finally be joining Eurobricks after lurking around here for about 6 months now. I have been collecting Lego for years now but I fell in love with them after discovering the Online Community in October. Everyone here has inspired me to build and become more involved in Lego and I look forward to sharing some of my MOCs with all of you. I also thank you because the quality of my MOCs has skyrocketed since seeing everyones creations here on Eurobricks. My favorite themes are City, Pirates, and Castle but I have built things that fit in virtually every theme. It feels great to finally join Eurobricks and discover the community of AFOLs because before it felt like I was the only person my age still playing with Lego. I now know that I am certainly not alone and I look forward to meeting all of you soon. -Tom Bricks
