  2. You are likely to be breaking your agreement to the PayPal TOS by only giving your buyer the one option to pay as a Personal Payment. Which in my opinion does not give you much credibility either.
  3. This thread would be a good place for you to try, and its always interesting to see rare/ strange/ unusual sets and parts.
  4. The consensus in this thread was that they help give contrast following the instructions in the early stages. But sometimes the wrong colours are visible in the final build, which annoys me if I wanted to keep the set built, in which case I would swap it with a better colour.
  5. They are supposed to be softer and have more flex than bricks, as otherwise they would be too easy to break.
  6. I doubt this is going to happen soon. I don't know the full details as I was well in my Dark Age, but early this century Lego gave away good bricks in the good colours, in relatively cheap 'Parts Packs'. But thankfully they are now in good profit and are sticking to making money, rather than giving away bricks. Whilst selling 'Parts Packs' could yield a return, they will get bigger profit by selling good sets. It has to be remembered that Lego essentially have a monopoly. I am not interested in MegaBlocks or Cobi, I want to buy Lego Bricks. I might sound cynical, although I would argue I'm being realistic. But we end up with the parts we need through BrickLink anyway. Obviously we pay more than we need to (the cost of sets plus the added markup of a secondary supplier). But given that Lego exist to make money, this is the best strategy for them.
  7. I agree with your suggestion, it would be good to see more variations in torso prints. But, once a particular element is recoloured it then becomes 'a different element' - it may cost the same to produce, but needs to be stored and handled separately, and then picked and selected for a specific set. And at the end of the day a large percentage of the target market probably don't care that much, as they will not accumulate loads of clone torsos in the time they play with Lego. My biggest frustration is sorting. As soon as I have it how I want it, I get more pieces which don't fit nicely in the system. So I have to reorganise, and have boxes of 'nearly sorted' and 'overfill'. That's my biggest problem with buying sets - the pieces that I don't 'need'. I prefer Bricklink, but the 'good and new' pieces are always to expensive when they first come out, so I buy a few sets and end up with stuff I don't really want.
  8. I don't really understand databases, but here is another suggestion... Your LDD Manager App seems to know (most of the time) if particular elements actually exist in that colour. I assume you downloaded the bricklink catalogue? If so, is it possible with some filtering of unnecessary data to compare two different instances of the bricklink catalogue? So that the differences would be either New Elements or Established Elements in a New Colour?
  9. You might know this already but Bricklink can list the latest additions to the catalogue here. But that only shows actual new elements (or stickers/ prints on old elements), and not new types of colour for elements. *Obviously the list is a bit boring now, but when new waves appear in a certain region, it gets more interesting.
  10. I presume the charge is to help persuade people to reuse and recycle the plastic bags, as 'one use' plastic bags are a waste of natural resources and an unnecessary component of landfill. As for the OP, this is a great use for plastic bags, I am sure I have seen this method used to create fashion accessories etc. on sites like etsy.
  11. Maybe with the amount of people buying multiples of the recent modular buildings as an investment, then the inflation in prices will slow down. I don't think the secondary market would ever be saturated, but the inflation seen with the first few sets will not be as severe. The modulars are sometimes perceived as a 'cash cow' which is great if only a handful of people choose to pursue this investment, but the more 'investment' sets floating around in the future, the less they will be worth.
  12. Let me Google that for you
  13. I have no idea about how to make a Floating Rock, but if you have not already read them this topic and this topic discuss making rock/ cliff. I would assume that a Floating Rock uses the same idea, but you build it upside and more three dimensional. At the end of the day making 'natural' objects is trial and error.
  14. It is likely to be some clone brand set, as the bags don't really look like Lego bags, and the top right bag seems to have a sprue in it.
  15. Don't expect anyone to ever take you seriously if you are threatening legal action over a $30 transaction.
  16. When I can't find a certain piece in LDD, I find out what sets it has appeared in (Bricklink), then check the Official Sets Made in LDD Topic, I can then download the file and copy ad paste the piece into my model. So the wider track piece appears in 8259 Mini Bulldozer. I have no idea about the smaller 'chain' piece.
  17. Although at the moment my interests have diverted towards the pseudo historic themes it was City sets that bought me out of my dark age, and after I made my initial purchases I did consider acquiring the classic sets from my childhood. Once that initial wave of nostalgia passed I lost interest in buying classic sets, I love looking at classic sets, and a nice classic display still makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. But I think the contemporary designs of sets are so much better than classic (this is not to say a certain 'one over sized wheel fits all' problem ruins the current designs), and as has been said more details means more pieces (and I like getting more pieces!). Of course adding in the fact that we can have minifigs with character now, means contemporary wins for me. I do think that jd5775 picked some good comparisons, and looking at 6543/ 4644 I think the classic version is so much better. But perhaps it is unfair to compare these two directly, although they both roughly serve the same kind of function, the classic 6543 at 674 parts was a 'Big' classic set, whilst 4644 at 270 parts is really a 'Medium' city set. Potentially if 4644 had been allocated a 'Big' set position, the result would have had more substance than a bridge connecting two mediocre buildings.
  18. Welcome to Eurobricks, you need 10 posts before you can access the profile options, this topic explains everything.
  19. This topic. I tend to keep interesting instructions in a few box files, the other 75% I file in the blue recycling bin.
  20. I have no experience of complaining to eBay directly about Lego purchases, although I can say if you are prepared to spend a long time on the phone, they are likely to give you vouchers to spend on eBay. Potentially by the time you pay your phone bill, you will break even (at best). Potentially you might be able to work something out with the seller? And consider a PayPal claim as "Goods not as Described", it might be worth (if the seller is ignoring you) to start mentioning a PayPal claim early on to get their attention. Also in the longterm, you may just put this "down to experience" as if you think over many purchases you have had some good deals on used sets, getting burnt once or twice is not that bad really, if you compare to what you would have spent buying on BrickLink (which generally you may pay a bit more, but are pretty much guaranteed to get what you bought correctly). Anyway good luck sorting it out.
  21. You can use the BrickLink catalog to view sets which contain that part here. In future when you are looking for sets which contain a specific part, find the part on BrickLink, next to the picture is an option "This Part Appears In: 148 Sets (View Them)"
  22. Thanks for the replies guys Cheers, looking at it now, maybe the jumper plates turned 900 might have been better, as the eyes do seem a bit close to the nose. Those bricks are Reddish Brown, they came at an extravagant price per piece ratio though! Cheers! I saw a MOC a few weeks ago that used lots of seaweed really close together, and to me it kind of simulated long swaying grass. I think I spaced them out to much here, which ruins the illusion a bit. Of course the ritual being performed here might explain the strange effects on gravity! Thanks for picking up on the title ambiguity, I was kind of aiming that it could be referring to either the statue or the figure. I wish I had more time to build mate! My time is that limited at the moment that I always want to finish something (although generally I don't actually manage to get it to work!) in the play time I have, so that I feel I have achieved something more than a WIP. Something like this on a bigger scale showing a proper ceremony happening in front would be epic. Maybe when I retire! Cheers, the head is Seso, from the Prince of Persia sets.
  23. This was loosely inspired by Moai sculpture:

  25. Potentially it might have been "BrickTrainShop" - they would advertise retired (and new) sets, but you were only ever buying instructions. The descriptions were misleading (although did state you would only get instructions), and returning the overpriced instructions people received was a long and arduous process. They are well known scammers. I believe the site has been shut down now, but potentially they have just changed names. They would often crop up on 'sponsored adverts' links (including on here -which I always thought was bad form for EuroBricks).
