  1. So... Because I'm not excited about this movie like everyone else seems to be and for the time being am disappointed with what I've seen , you initially thought my post was spam?.. I don't see the logic in that. NO trolling going on here and i think your assumption is unfair. How can you have enough of something that this universe is essentially based on? Hints and what not are cool (such as seeing the Alien or "Xenos" skull in the Predator ship in Predator 2), but i still fail to see the premises of this being a prequel without the stars. Maybe my mind will be changed as we start to see more of the movie, but as of now it doesn't scream "Alien" to me nor am i excited.
  2. Jaun is 100% correct. We understand that "technically" this is lifting up using the lift from the rotors as well as the power from the LEGO XL motors. But it is not lifting its own weight. That is the question at hand. Can a LEGo powered vehicle, effectively lift a Lego vehicle under its own power? This vehicle does not demonstrate this ability considering it has a counterweight. Remove the counterweight and this model will go no where.
  3. So let me get this straight... This is supposed to be an Alien prequel, but there will be no Aliens in it?? How dumb is that??? Thats like having a Transformers movie based on Cybertron without Transformers. Highly anticipated movie of 2012? More like epic fail. I mean it looks like a good sci=fi movie, but if there are no Aliens, then its worthless as a prequel.
  4. Man!! I take it all back! You guys are as bad as TF fans! It does if you want them to be successfully. I can't think of one comic book/video game based movies that had fans in mind first that was a financial success at the box office. I agree 100%. Burton's movies were the best for me as well and had the captured the batman I've grown to love. But the problem is particular "balance" has been done before. Nolan's take may not be to your liking, but it is a fresh take. And that's what you need to keep a franchise alive. I have to say, based on your comments here, I'm not even sure you were watching TDK. But I'll address a few... 3- I thought the joker was quite funny. I loved his "pencil trick", his henchmen "try-outs". quite funny. 4- Really? Did you not see the Batman's "interrogation" of the Joker? Your telling me you saw no emotion in that? 5- Dent showed great passion with his work and maggie. Not to mention when he became two-face. 6- Realistic?.. Yes. As much as you can get for a guy that dresses up as a Bat to fight crime. As far as the cell phone surveillance, Batman has always had wild before its time gadgets. Some more believable than others. But that said, i think they found a good balance with Batman's traditional gadgets. 7- I don't see anything wrong with the plot. A sicotic madman wants to destroy a city by making them as mad as him. Easy. You are looking wayyyyy to far into this. As i responded to The Penguin's post, Batman in every carnation, in every series has had some kind of wild, over the top gadget at his disposal. Why should this movie be any different? Yes using cell phone radar might be a little far fetched, but considering you opened yourself up to a crime fighter who ... 1.- Dress up like a bat.. 2.- The police not only approve of.. 3.- they call him via a giant spot lamp on the roof of police head quarters. Your fine with that premises, but your problem is the cell phone tracking system. If you constantly let these things bother you, your never going to enjoy the movies. Again, your fine with a Rich guy dressing up as a bat that local law enforcement approves of, but are criticizing his methods to extradite the baddies? And how do you know the plane is unregistered? And who said it was easy? It was obvious that the whole operation was paid underground. At some point you need to let go of reality, remember what your watching and have a little fun.
  5. TF: Dark of the Moon was awesome. Just thought i'd add that. G.I. Joe on the other hand, was a good movie, just not a good G.I. Joe movie. But i guess that's another discussion entirely. LOL You both remind me of TF fans complaining about Micheal Bay and how he ruined their childhoods. (well your not nearly that bad ). And what's funny is while you both and many other Batman fans don't care for Nolan's approach on the caped crusader, many in the TF fandom are wishing upon a star that Nolan would give his take on the TF franchise. Point being its different when your a non fan looking in. Your not looking at all the specifics. The small details don't bother you. Your going in more or less enjoying a movie. And IMO, that's a good thing. I won't use the term fan boy as i don't want to offend anyone (some consider it derogatory ), so I'll just use "serious fan". But the problem is the traditional take on a particular character may not necessarily work in a certain adaption. So it may need to be tweaked. Batman and his stories are over 70 years old as someone has already mentioned. There must be a dozen or so different takes on the subject and characters. So is there really one right way of doing Batman? If people see the characters and they still carry the same characterization as well as a similar look, then whats the problem? So far from what I'm seeing, Batman, Bruce Wayne, catwomen, Bane are all recognizable from at least there looks from the trailer. (and this is coming from someone who doesn't read any comics and have seen the occasional animated series episode as the Burton and Schumacher movies). From the outside looking in, things appear to look like "Batman". I learned along time ago these type of movies aren't made for fans. There have, and always will be made for the general public. Many may not like that, but its fact. Movies built to to this scale need the general audiences approval to be successfully. That being said, that's why alot of of comic book/80's cartoon movie adapt-ions don't always take a familiar take. What works with the fans, doesn't always work with the average Joe. Fans are catered to with comics, novel books, and TV shows, while movies need to reach out to a broader audience. Personally Nolan's adapt ions have been up and down for me. I found BB to be a bit boring, while TDK had a much better story and better characters (Heath Ledger played an incredible Joker and really made the movie). I still think Tim Burton's moves were the best adapt-ions period, but I'm a bit biased since i saw them both in the theaters as a little boy. But in the end i guess thats one of the problems of being a "serious fan". Your going to have high expectations and wether or not you want to admit it, you have your own vision of what said franchise should look like on the big screen. Fans what something familiar. The general audince wants something fresh.
  6. Though i think this is a great idea (your comunity), this thread probabaly will be shut down. But comerning your lego cominity and forum, I think its awesome! I do not work for law enforcement, or any other other emergency type agency, but i do build emergency vehicles for a living. Everything from police, fire, ems, swatt and mobile command vehicles. I'll stop by and say hi!
  7. New trailer for the Dark Knight Rises debuted over the weekend with Sherlock Homles and Mission Impossible. Quality isn't the best, but i guess its better than nothing. http://www.pedestrian.tv/pop-culture/news/watch-the-dark-knight-rises-bootlegged-trailer/60548.htm They were also supposed to show the 7 minute pro logue with Mission impossible, but it wasn't linked to every showing of mission impossible. Oh well. Heard the trailer was better anyhow since many complained they couldn't understand what Bane was saying in the pro logue.
  8. Have to admit... This looks really good. Music was perfect as well. Cool to see the combiner Bruticus as well. bad thing about video game trailers is we won't see that same level of compasion the Optimus gave Bumble Bee in this trailer, that we will in the game. While i really like the movies, I hope the writers of TF4 took a good hard look at this trailer. I'd love to see this type of intereaction between the bots in the 4th movie.
  9. I have a friend who work for LEGO, and this comes up every year. And while every year a "theme" gets shut down, they are getting closer and closer to to making just what your looking for KisKatanna. Small sets that are vehicle based only. There also been talk about USC type sets. Hummvee's, Aircraft, Large trucks, all have been in the talks for some time since its not really a theme, just a model of a military vehicle. At this point the aurgument of Lego doesn't do violence is out the window and anyone who tries to use this aurgument as defense to why LEGO hasen't, or won't do a military theme is ignorant to TLC's current and past theme's sets. It doesn't matter that they were licenced or not. No ones putting a gun to TLC's head (sorry, no pun intended there) for them to make these sets. They know what there about before hand. If that's truely there policy, then they wouldn't have been done in the first place. The signs are all around us. Frankly its just a matter of time fore this happens. Especially with compeditor brands currently making full blown military themes (in most compeditor brands, there military themes are their best selling sets).
  10. HI there! Thank you for the nice compliments. Yes, this is my work. As DLuders said, its a healily moddified 4404 dirt diggers set. I've since replaced the solid axle suspension and turned it back to independent since i couldn't get the rear soild axle to work the way i wanted. Made a few changes since then though. I'll post up some current pics tommorrow if your enterested.
  11. HI There Kim T. Hope you've been well. Nice to see another F1 topic. Here's hoping that Hamilton will start concentrating a bit more. Also this will be the end of Vettel's rein. We'll know more in the upcoming off season, but it seems that most teams will be on par with each other.
  12. Sure. I remember seeing the show as a kid. Always loved the truck with the helicopter inside; but crack up looking back since he would always use the helicopter to get away from cops.. and they would always wait for the 45 seconds or so for the helicopter to lift up out of the truck and take off! That's Hollywood for ya! Very cool. That's how i feel with my town and technic creations as well! All have to be able to support there associated figures!
  13. Excellent mocs. The Rat rod and Steinwinter are my favorites. I love the color you choose for the rat rod. Really brings out the old school feel. Perfect! The Steinwinter is very unique as well. Speaking of the Steinwinter, did you know they designed a truck based on the Steinwinter for an 80's TV show called "The Highwayman"? http://www.famouscars.de/images/highwayman/highwayman.htm Overall great job! Not sure if this has been covered already, but can a mini fig fit in truck?
  14. How is the quality? A couple years i built some of these Mega Block Halo sets for my Boss's son, and the mini warthog kept falling apart every time the suspension compressed, and the rest of the sets had no grab in the pieces. Curious if they've made any improvments in quality in the last couple years.
  15. Wow.. For a web site that frowns upon spam, there sure is alot of it in this thread. So Am I to understand that this is some kind of test to see how people react to numbers as user names instead of actual names? Whats the point in that?
  16. A re-boot was never promised. Just something Bay hater's made up because the movies didn't meet with their approval. And while i hope this isn't true, it seems that both are denying any talks with Paramount at this time. http://filmonic.com/jason-statham-and-michael-bay-address-transformers-4-and-5-speculation Though Jason Statham doesn't exactly state that he is, nor isn't involved in TF future movies. As for Bay, even if he isn't involved at this time, he might start talks later on after his current project "pain and Gain" is completed. Its a real shame that most are just seeing the end of season one of TF Prime. The last 3 episodes have to be the best yet. This is shaping up to be not only one of the best Tf continuities, but one of the best "Kids" TV shows. Story telling is excellent. The best I've seen in the TF franchise. You can definitely see their listening to fans (which I'm very surprised) and given them darker toned stories and characters. It will be very interesting to see how the dinobots are brought in for season 3, as well as Here's hoping the toys are as well done as the animated toy line.
  17. To late, you were already rude with your initial post. Saying your sorry, doesn't make it any better. What exactly doesn't make these good mocs? Instead of just writing them off as "Poor excuses" for mocs, how about you explain why. Give some constructive criticism. From what i can see these seem to be fairly well done. I'm sure if these were built with Lego you'd have nothing but compliments, but because he has used megablocks, you list them as junk. That's not only unfair, but complete ignorance on your part. No ones saying you have to like competitor brands, but its not fair to dismiss one's creations because of it. It appears that his mocs are custom with good detail. I love the turrents and detail on the weapons. Good job battlemas. I'm curious if the rear of the tan tanks open for troops like the real ones would. Overall nice job.
  18. Ya, but thats been done already. I think it would be kinda cool if Sentinel Prime was resurected as Nemisis Prime. If Rodimus does make it into the 4th, then maybe have him lead a rogue league of Autobots. Autobots that have there own adjenda and don't want to take orders from optimus.
  19. The U.S. premiered TF: Prime nearly a year ago. Were about to start our third season this Saturday! Its such a great show. Excellent stories and great characters. You can really feel the connection and even tension between all of the characters. Great stuff. Oh stop it. Get out of your 80's dream land of a G1 re boot. Doesn't matter who the new director is its never going to happened. You need to get through your thick head that things need to evolve for a new audience. No its not perfect, but nothing is. And a "promise" of a re-boot? There has never been such a promise. Just something the people who didn't like the movies keep telling themselves in their head is going to happen. At this point nothing has been set in stone. They've been talking about a new story line, new director, to Bay and Co. coming back for another 3 movies. I wouldn't mind Bay coming back. Over all i think he did a good job with what he had to work with. I do think he missed out on some good opportunities with DOTM but hey, you can't make everyone happy. As far as TF deaths, the movies aren't the first time TF have come back from the dead. Tf characters have been revived in several TF comics, and they even did it in the orignal 86 movie. (granted they were turned into new characters, but revived nothing less).
  20. This will never happen. Your looking at these movies and the franchise in general from a fanboy point of view (and i use that term loosely, and in no way mean it as a derogatory). These movies and others like it, are not made for the fans. There made for the general audience and are designed with a modern, fresh look. Now I'm not saying that this formula always works, but more times than not, the comic book versions focus to much on small details that while intrigues the fans, loose the general audience. Many are stuck in the past, (not saying that you are penguin. You have suggested that they follow the modern day comics) and are not open for change. For the most part, people know the mannerisms and designs of these characters. Thats why in these times, fresh takes are needed to keep the audience interested. If your saying that Batman fans know better as they know how a Batman movie should be, then I'd have to disagree. Its my honest opinion, that if fans had control of how full length, big budget comic book/toy product movie adapt-ions,(this goes to any comic book/toy product franchise fandom) they might be mildly entertaining (like the first Mortal Kombat movie and Super Mario Brothers), they'd be complete financial flops. Nolan's adapt-ions aren't my favorite versions of Batman, but but his version of the Joker was absolutely fantastic. Heath Ledger was incredible as the Joker. While your completely untitled to your opinion and it is a valid one, saying that he's been raped is a little harsh. (I still don't understand how you can say he was good in BB, but not in TDK. That seems to be a bit to critical). You might like the comic book foundation, but that doesn't mean its the version that the majority want to see, nor does it necessarily mean that its the correct adaption to take reference from. How about a little from everything? The problem with keeping something familiar, you run the risk of it being to familiar and it becomes boring. We need fresh takes on our old school super hero's. Other wise, there going to wither away and die.
  21. That's not true. It was the idea from everyone (Bay and Co. and Hasbro) in the begining that Sentinel Prime was going to be the main vilian. They anounced Shockwave as the main vilian to throw everyone off the trail since they couldn't say SP as his trechery was a key plot twist. The only problem with this was Shockwaves character was way over hyped to the point that he didn't live up to the expecations that everyone had for him.
  22. I doubt it. While i'm in no way shape or form a Potter fan, i think those movies were far more anticipated than Avengers. The new Star Trek movie, first Transformers, all were blowing up boards every where. And Episode III? Nah. Episode one maybe as there had been a 20+ year gap in SW movies. I'm looking forward to this, but there are other movies coming up that i think will be just as good, if not better. For some reason, the new "Battleship" movie really intriges me, and i'm curious if Dark Knight Rises can top the Dark Knight.
  23. Don't care for Armada at all, but its still not as bad as the energon series. Most of the Japanese series were darn near unwatchable. Terrible stories, music, lame diaolge, overly cheezy, and rediculous alt modes. The Cybertron series was proabably the best of the Japanses series, bust still falls short of anything from G1, Animated, or TF: Prime. What are you talking about the movie having no plot? It was quite clear. The space race between the Russian's and American's was due to trying to find out about what crashed landed on the moon. The decepticons worked with humans to keep them off the moon and had them reveal the crash to the Autobots so they could revieve Sentinel Prime so they could continue with their plan.
  24. I'm sure I'm in the minority here, but if you don't want these type of things happening, then it probably isn't the best idea to post free instructions on line. Yes, I understand the Jurgen put alot of time and effort in the design as well as building instructions on line on his web site. Its obvious that many are grateful for his work. But at the same time, not everyone is going to be honest and with free instructions roaming around, this type of thing is bound to happen. Is it wrong not to give the original designer credit? Sure. Is what this guy doing illegal? Unless Jurgen has some kind of copy right to the design (don't know if that's possible considering its built with patented Lego pieces) its 100% legal.
  25. The animated toy line has its upsides for sure. One of the main things i love about it is the ease of transformations. Even on the leader class figures you use the instructions once, and then your pretty good. One of the down falls of the movie lines are the complexity of transforming many of the figures. I say many, because there are a few out there that are rather simplistic. Most of the Deluxe class figures and even a few Voyagers are rather simplistic in there transfomations. Others while highly detailed, can be a nightmare to transform. I'm really hoping that the TF:Prime toy lines follows suit with animated and makes things easy. Now that's were i'd have to completely disagree. The movies lines are very accurate to their on screen counterparts. Maybe not 100%, but no worse than Animated has been. While the smaller class figures are sure to be a little off due to their size (its been this way for nearly every toy line, not just movie TF's)the larger ones seem to be spot on for the most part. I received Human Alliance Road buster for my birthday, and both his vehicle mode and robot mode are spot on his on screen design. IN fact, i'd have to say all the Human Alliance figures are spot on accurate in terms of vehicle and robot mode. Leader class figures are also a good example of alt, and bot mode accuracy. The down fall many times of course when it comes to accuracy, is the complexity of the transformations. Take HA Road buster for example. Great detail in and out, but with over 45 (Yes, that's right 45!) steps to transform from bot to car and vis, vursa, it can get a little fustrating. But after a couple practice transformations, its not to bad. Defenatily not for your average 8 year old. As far as the Mech tech weapons, while not my cup of tea either, they have been doing remarkable well in TF fandom and market place. Espeacialy since it they were used in the movie. And lets face it. Kids like guns with there figures. As far as the quality of TF: Prime the series, sorry, but have to completely disagree. This has to be the best TF series ever done. Fantastic writing and story telling, with just the right amount of darkness and humor to capture both the young and the old. Animated was a little to campy and immature for my taste. Prime tops it in every way shape and form (Please remember this is just my opinion. Not attempting to bring yours down or suggest that yours is wrong, cause it isn't :))
