One Thousand Fathoms / Burpy
Perterz replied to SirNadroj's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Christ that deepsea creature is amazing, I'm getting a fair bit off inspiration out off these.. Wait, are those plants made off icescream?! Brilliant! -
I'd say keep it as a bike mainly for its originality and 'simple' build. Maybe just center the rearwheel ;)
-
Wow that's rather impressive! Incredible details and the fact it eats is very clever..
-
Funny litle scenery and very well build, only bug for me is the corner area of the bley plates and inverted slopes. It doesn't look as clean as the rest of the MOC but hey that's only me :) Intresting vignette, the inner part where the princess discovers the orc was a nice extra!
-
Wow that's very creative and artistic. The creation perfectly illustrates its title which is mostly because of it being made out of transparent bricks, nifty!
-
Well I respect your opinion and I would like to thank you for giving decent guidelines! Toa of Whimsy: intresting/disturbing questions, thanks tho! gormadoc1: I got the cat from a lot I bought a month ago :) at first I wasn't to sure it was an official Lego piece but I do remember seeing it years ago in a city set. It has a 'Lego' brand inscription aswell so that convinced me. I'm really glad you like this MOC, I'll deffinatly start on an update or a new one. Thanks! edit: link to Brickshelf Gallery added in the first post.

That's brilliant! I really like its clean and simple look. Like stated couple post above, I would also buy this if it came as an official set :)

Thanks for your kind words. That's a great fall Erdbeereis, seems like this technique is common used, are the transparent plates on teh lower part build on a blue plate? Sidenote: I've added the link to the Brickshelf gallery in the first post ^^

I've never had missing pieces or damaged bricks in the sets I bought. Every thing hits a first time ofcourse, yesterday when I was building up my newly purchased Pirates Shipwreck Hideout I concluded that 1 2x2 darkgreen brick was missing (luckely I still had a few) but instead they gave me a darkgreen 1x2 slope. O well I can live with it, my first error in a Lego set ever.

After a first concept MOC of a treehouse for my eventual diorama I completed another one, a waterfall this time. Some of you might remember the first wip pictures of the diorama featuring a fall, people recommended the use of transparant plates but didn't have any. Meanwhile a crapload of transparant plates are in my possesion and I experimented with them. This MOC is the result, a small natural diorama. I've added some minifigs to complete it, the starving peasant is lucky to come across this little party in the middle of the jungle and profits some fish and water to drink :) Brickshelf Gallery I hope you'll like it, any input is appreciated! Cheers, kevin.

Yeah I bought me a couple Star Wars sets but I sold them all again having had them for a month. I liked the accuracy of the ships and the minifigs are incredible but the parts are -to me- useless and the models got boring after a while. But that all has more to do with personal preference tho, I really like natural kinda things, landscapes, cliffs, rivers and seas but also surreal and paranormal crapload, witches, ghosts, mythes anyway I think you've guessed by now my vote went to Pirates.

Damn I missed this event! How many of those events are there held during 1 year in Belgium? I'm really intrested in visiting events like that.
-
I just recieved an order including the Castle advent calender and my second Pirates set (#6253, Shipwreck Hideout), I'm so happy with it, especially the castle advent calender! Also a shitload of transparent 1x2 plates and half a forest of flowers and grass were included. Next on the list are slopes and brown tiles in bulk.

Me neither, nearly as much as the MMV but the pieces in quality as quantity don't seem to be worth a 100 bucks. I'd rather buy me a third MMV instead of this set..
-
Hilarious scene, the landscaping and the river being that wild really make it come to life. Very creative!

Oh man I loved this set ever since I saw the box, bought me a couple of them at €69 each while I could because they seem to be out of sale/production here in Belgium so I was lucky (and smart)! Again I state that lighten up my dark ages at the absolute perfect time proves that it is freaking meant to be.. Great review and shots you bring us, thanks! I actually never came to build the school building but your review makes me want to edit: I voted 'outstanding' for it's amazing parts in both quality as quantity for a fair price.
-
Great review man, eventho I wasn't planning on buying the set anyway I still read the review. I came to 1 (for me important) conclusion: what's with the minifigs?! I can live with 1 side printed torso's but absolutely no prints at all?! That's pretty weak for a set of this calibre imo. Or was this done on purpose/with a reason I don't know off?
-
Yes indeed! That was simple
-
Oh thanks! That Bionicle piece looks very intresting. Well yes it is quite strong, deffinatly strong enough for a display. Transport is no problem, I can hold the MOC on 1 hand into the sky without it breaking into pieces. Here are some new pictures, I hope it shows a bit how it's built... Thanks again for the input! Kevin.

It was deffinatly meant to flow as a tree hence the minimal concern for structure, the more chaos the better! Actually I wanted to create a timbered roof and all but got a bit lazy, that also could be a cause of its 'slapped together' appearance. The ladder is something that popped back in my mind, I remember using the technique as a kid as it is pretty simple, I've never seen it on another MOC myself but I'm pretty sure atleast 1 person has done it before, like that seems to be the case regurarly. Thanks for the quality advice here folks! That's deffinatly helpfull, I will keep these suggestions in mind when I build the final version on the diorama. 1 Question tho, what are 'vines'? My English vocabulary is limited :s No I don't mind, it's not pattented :D Thanks for the great input so far guys, your reactions answer the questions I asked myself! Cheers, Kevin.

Tan and blue deffinatly work together, actually believe me when I say that any color can suit any other color! The secret lies in the usage/mix of them. I've seen proof enough of that since that was a past project in the art classes when I was at college. The only big thing I don't like are the big special castle bricks placed on midlevel at the sides of the door (can't name it by name damnit), they look out of place to me. Anyway pretty nice house and the garden gives it more atmosphere if that makes sense.
-
That works so well, perfect balance! Very realistic looking shed and those birds are plain brilliant, again I'm amazed by the great use off the minifig hands..
-
That's some great detailing and design on that cafe, I found those SNOT (just got into the terminology) parts very attractive especially on the second modules pool, perfectly done! Just the front of the tan building seems a bit to simple compared to the rest, but maybe we want to much :) Also that second truck looks even better than the first one ;)

Age of Empires II Woad Raider
Perterz replied to Hound Knight's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
Oh thanks, I'm not really into StarWars Lego but they seem to have another pretty cool hairpiece. -
I'm glad I can present you a finished MOC, well it's not exactly finished since there's missing some decent interior tho. The only interior I've added is the Wizard doing his thing. I've made this MOC as a concept to use for the treehouse I'm planning to add on my diorama thus the interior wasn't that important to me for now. Brickshelf Gallery I hope you'll like it, any input is appreciated! Greetings, Kevin. edit: link to BS gallery added.
