It happened to me after I had my Catapult defense for a day or 2.... looks like quality might be falling witht the instructions manuals as well as the colors. >:-(
-
Oh yeah, the darn movies. They had so much potential and they ended up being so lame. :-| Only the bionicle adventures book series saved the storyline from being dumb, and they were great! ;-)

Does anyone look back on 2006 fondly?
Zarkan replied to Darkness Falls's topic in LEGO Action Figures
Excellent points, Darkness. I totally agree with everything you say. ;-) Yeah, I do look back at 2006 very positively. Despite it's flaws, it opened up so much more in the bionicle storyline and other things. A couple welcome changes were: 1: That the storyline was darker and really revealed that it wasn't just a couple of islands fighting against one foe. In 2005 we got some hints of the total bionicle world (like Roodaka's homeland in the comics and the Dark Hunters), but in 2006 it totally became a massive universe with even higher stakes than before. And for the first time, we see how desperate the situation really is. At the end of 2003 it seemed that the new life on metru nui wouldn't be so bad, but almost imediatley after we got back from the flashback storytelling, the toa were launched into trouble. That's the kind of stuff I like. *sweet* 2: That the set design finaly started to break off from the clone types. The Inika and Piraka were still basically clones, but the more unique color schemes and different feet and arm molds livened things up a bit. I also like how Hewkii and Nuparu stood apart from the rest with their chains and claws. Now, 2007 remains the king of non-clone set design by far, but 2006 showed that TLC was finally starting to change their ways a bit. Yeah, so, I loved 2006. 2007 tops it by far, but 2006 was still great. :-) -
My name obviously comes from the fact that I love General GRIEVOUS, but am not the best speller when in a hurry. :-P

I actually think the matoran are the best of the 2008 lot we've seen. They seem to have a lot of great parts, and the masks are wonderful! ( I mean on the good matoran, not the seemlingly infected ones) Those are probably the only bionicle's I will be buying until summer, and even then, maybe not more. :-)
-
Eh, I knew it was for Halloween the second I saw it. Whether this is the final version or not is the REAL question.... 8-|
-
Well, seriously, I don't think TLC was trying to make an exact clone of Gundam, you know, despite the obvious anime references. Exo-force is a line of it's own, and I happen to like it the way it is (although this year's summer lineup was a bit mediocre asside from the golden tower). ;-) Actually, though, the comics they make for the website really look good, despite the average at best dialogue. But... wait, why are we talking about exo force anyway? This is Bionicle 2008 images! *wacko* Anyway, we know of course that the new bionicles are going to sell well, regardless of the minorities opinion (which is unfortunately us). BZP's given them a wide approval, but considering that 2/3's of the people there are probably under age 11, it doesn't surprise me at all. :-/ ~~END~~
-
Er, I can't agree with that at all. (looks at massive exo-force collection on display shelves. 8-| ) In your opinion. There are still plenty of people that like the current storyline, even here. Also, how many times do I have to say that Greg isn't as all powerful as you think he is? He has a whole story team he works with, so Bionicle is not his massive sandbox to play around with. Also, you realize how difficult it is to make a storyline when TLC cares far more about set sales than storyline? The storyline in fact is just another Bionicle promotion in TLC's mind. :-| Besides, you can't expect Greg to please everyone. While you hate the current storyline and say it's awful, I happen to love it. It's all a matter of perspective. ;-)

X-O I have just confirmed that I must get them all, for the 3rd year in a row. *wub* Okay, maybe not ALL of them. I'll probably pass on the tank. But the rest: 8-

I can't say that I'm confused. Then again, I haven't been confused by a single element in the bionicle storyline, athough a few "how questions" still bother me. X-D
-
Hardly. That's just imperialshadows shadowing his opinion on this with a fake marketing report. X-D Anyway, this movie looks just OKAY. Won't see it, no doubt, but if it does okay and brings more buisness to Lego, why is it so horrible? Oh, and that doesn't even include the fact that TLC is also aparrently making animated movies for Mars Mission, Town, Castle, Bionicle, and Creator in partnership with another company. *wacko*
-
He's right, though. Aparrently TLC might not have even made the Nuva return at all if it wasn't for him. And he's hardly the only one who talks smug; people here and at BZP have been doing it for years. It's a fact of life that things often sound smug when you don't want to hear what they say or dissagree with them. It's not anybodys fault, but what are you going to do? :-/ Jinzo, I know how you feel. We all know, but that doesn't change the fact that TLC is in control, not me, us, or even GregF (who only has some say in the process, but usually not much). TLC and the stores made the decision, Greg's just telling it. :-(
-
Well, you may or may not know what I think about Bionicle 2008, but let me say now that it looks like it's going to be a light year, Bionicle wise (thank goodness too: 2007 was a killer! *wacko* ). I seriously dislike the new Toa Nuva. Kopaka may be the only one who is at least okay, and they still gave him wings and removed the shield. Lewas looks terrible with lime and a visored mask - and Pohatu is just :-X Not that any of them are bad as far as canister sets go, but since these are supposed to be the Nuva, I take offense at how much they aren't, set wise. Pohatu is ORANGE and SILVER, for crying out loud! Oh, and they all have cruddy launchers that make the cordak look like the best idea ever. I actually like Zamor launchers, but this is just terrible. :-X I don't blame the story team or GregF, of course. They have nothing to do with set design, and I kinda pity them right now, since they have such a poor lineup of sets to work a story out of. TLC seems to be the culprit, but I also see it partly the store chain's fault. Aparentely, Wal-Mart and Target are uneasy about selling the new Nuva just because they sold sets labeled Toa Nuva ONLY 5 years ago. :-| Oh, and don't even get me started on the new baddies (Phantoka?). Who's idiotic idea was for them to carry energy balls filled with spiders in their waist areas? :-| Oh, and that doesn't even conisider the fact that the set designs look totally :-X The only sets I like are the Matoran: cool masks and some good parts in new colors, and I will buy at least a couple for sure. :-) So, overall, blah. At least the story looks like it will still be good, from what GregF has been revealing in his blog on BZP. Toa Nuva orgins back story is so on! *sweet*

Plus, Keiken's reason for Hitomi not becoming an Exo-Force member is that he doesn't want the same thing that happened to her parents to happent to her, infering that they died in battle. ;-) Anyway, I'm totally loving the new exo force, as I said in the catalog topic before. The Assault tiger's chainsaw blade looks SWEET, and you gotta LOVE the PURPLE in the dark panther (man, I can't seem to express my feelings any other way than in capitals lately X-D ). All of them look great, though, and it's especially nice to see a real cockpit on Hayato's small mech. I expect that I'll have to get all of them - for the third year in a row. *wacko* :-P

Great review, and funny commentary! ;-) I still don't like the Areo Booster in general, but each picture I see makes me like it just a bit more. It's good to see that a lot of people still like it, even if I don't. :-)
-
Thanks everyone for all the comments! ;-) My next review is most likely going to be the Toa Mahri I bought a long time ago; I also typed up a review for her but haven't bothered posting it! Ah well, I'll get it up eventually.... X-D Edit: Gah! I just realized how many posts I had! Better post something else on the boards quickly.... :-P

Remember when I said in my review of 7090 to expect a review after I went to ToysRus? Well, somehow things didn

To tell you the truth, I'm not sure if any year can surpass this year, since 2007 had so many amazing revalations (return of Castle and Aqua-themes, so many amazing city sets, modular buildings, 2 creator houses, real guns and battlepacks for Starwars, Bionicle sets that finally are not clones, etc.). 2008 is looking awesome as well, but I'm just not quite as excited as I was this year. ;-) Hm, maybe Yoda's force powers aren't working so well lately. He should have sensed a distubance in the force... must be old age. X-D
-
Okay, where is yoda? Usually he's one of the first to post in news topics like this, but it's been a whole day and he still isn't here! Come to think of it, this topic isn't getting as many posts as I thought it would (other topics with only news on one theme have reached higher totals than this easily). Come on, this is the 2008 news of the year! :-P
-
legomilk, you should seriously get a member class of your own, because you have to be the coolest member here! Okay, well, that's an exageration, but you still rock! (and I'm not kidding about the member class) *sweet* Anyway, there is so much to comment about, so I better get started: City: Much better now than the first few glimpses! The cargo plane, believe it or not, is looking great now, especially with all that green *wub* And the new carg truck is lovely! I'm not as keen on the two smaller ones, but it's great that TLC hasn't given up 4 wide planes entirely! Also, anyone else here love the vast quantity of packages and containers? *sweet* As for police, not as good, but mainly because of the stupid water plane and the color changes (now it's blue and black, not just black? :-| ). But man, that Police Station is HUGE! Must be the first ever to have 2 cells, and it looks really detailed! Plus, we get new taller windows, 3 vehicles, and 8 figs! *sweet* Oh, and the helicopter turned out fine, as I figured. TLC couldn't have messed that one up.... :-P Exo-Force: My dreams have come true: a PURPLE Mech! *wub* Unfortunately, it's a robot mech, but still great! These look like awesome parts packs and great designs - I want them all! *sweet* Bionicle: This... isn't as good. Okay, so toa Kopaka looks OKAY, but Lewa and Pohatu are not Lewa and pohatu any more! Plus, they all have the stupidest launchers yet, and the weapons don't look that great. The little matoran are great, though, and they all have new mask designs, which is really good too. But seriously, what is with these bad guys? They carry giant balls of energy in their stomachs? :-| The designs also look like crud, but this is good: because now I don't have to go bonkers on Bionicle shoping, like I have for the last two years. X-D I'll talk more later, I have to get off right now. But 2008 is rocking my socks! *sweet*
-
Man, I'm surprised I haven't said anything about this yet. This is already making 2008 look like an awesome year for Exo-force, and better overall than 2007 (which still was pretty good, IMO). *sweet* I see lots of great pieces in there, and we finally get a normal green mech! *wub* BTW, Swiftone (who works with TLC on Exo-force), said on BZP that this book is not planned to be released. It was at one point, but is currently not on the schedule. However, he had said nothing about the mech on the cover, which makes me think that it is a real set. ;-)
-
Hm, let's get out the trusty Dwarves Mining checklist: Different colored beards? Check Sick Goblin swords and shields? Check Brickbuilt warhamer and mining carts? Check Totally fearsome troll in an exclusive color? Check Crystals and treasure galore? Check Totally kick-butt set? Oh man, you bet so! *sweet* Man, TLC did everything right in this set. And since it's probably a 50 USD set, I JUST might be able to get it. And to think this is only a foreshadow of 2008..... which we have already seen and already loved. X-D
-
Me too! Any pictures that possibly might just make Lewa look better are fine by me! ;-)
-
I'm surprised at the reaction to the new police trailer. I think it looks just fine, and it looks like there's a lot of detail and acessories packed in. The tower may be a bit dumb, but it looks like it has some useful parts in it. Overall, I like it. :-) The plane on the other hand is CRUD. Sure, the floats and wings have good designs, but they can't change the fact that the giant passanger jet hull looks ridiculous here. Definate *n* from me.

One quick note: Greg F. has given a reason how Nocturn was able to break his home island: no, he didn't punch it in a rage, but used some sort of weapon to break it. Just though I'd let you guys know. :-P Oh yeah, a giant 50 dollar makuta titan would be SICK. *sweet* Eh, I don't think so. The early barraki pictures we saw last year were extremely close to the finals. But let's forget that for a monent and hope for what you say anyway. X-D
