What game are we playing at the moment?
Zarkan replied to Mr Hobbles's topic in Culture & Multimedia
Don't forget the sequel: Supreme Commander! I haven't played it, but the vehicle designs are SWEET! *sweet* Eh, anyway, I played my own game today. .... Omigoodney, Grevious makes games? Er, yeah. They're fairly low quality, but I am getting better, thanks to the neverending assistance from Gamemaker examples I downloaded. ;-) -
Quote from Jinzo's post after his review of Sicko: Don't trust Mr. Moore, Colonel Thok. :-P

I think it's a japeneese exclusive that they decided to bring to the rest of the world.... 8-| -
Spent a day out shopping with my family, and got to play the Super Mario Galaxy demo in Gamestop for the second time (I stink at platformers. |-/ ). Oh, and I spent an hour playing Smash Bros. Melee (surprise, surprise. X-D )

Very interesting! I never thought about using legos this way, but it is pretty neat! It's about on the level of that giant minifig scale thousand seat lego church somebody made a while back (dozens of friends and family keep sending an email about that to me because I'm a lego fan. X-D )

Hah! It's still like that today! Just look at the "worst lego theme" topic that was revived some time ago. Bionicle happens to be at the top of the list, and not suprisingly, many members here still think Bionicle is not real lego. I respect their opinion of course, since it has been true since day one that Bionicle is one of the most controversial themes to date. Just the very concept sent many AFOL's heads spinning. :-P Yeah, some AFOLS have warmed up to bionicle, but many still really dislike the theme (okay, HATE :-P ), and I understand why. ;-)

I disagree, since I think having high tech stuff in bionicle spiced it up. That is my opinion, and your posts are too. I really am getting annoyed as to how some members here state things like their OPINION is fact and all other opinions are fiction. Call me rude, but that just isn't fair to those who like the current years and actually still enjoy Bionicle. >:-( Some members here don't seem to understand that the set version and the one pictued in the music videos is far different than how the terain crawler is in the storyline. In the storyline, the toa are able to ride it by going inside the armor plates, and there are no airlock hatches or other junk. I mean, even in the comic they removed everything unrealistic except the Cordak, and no, the toa are not riding on top of it like some high tech blaster weapon. :-| You guys are forgetting something. Does the words "Exo toa Missile" ring a bell? That giant piece of machinery built into a giant machine suit was no less technological than the Cordak or the Zamor launchers. I really struggle to see why people here haven't made that conection, although it again is just my opinion. 8-|

I'm noticing a disturbing trend in this topic: All the current bionicle haters here applaud any member who says something that supposedly proves how 2001 is the best, and criticize any members opinions when they are against that notion. And I think I know why. For some reason, many people here seem to think that there is a distinct good way and a bad way of doing Bionicle. Of course, the good way is considered 2001, and the bad way is 2006 and 2007. Fact of the matter is though, that they are wrong. Also, if I said that 2006 was the best year of bionicle, no questions asked, I would be wrong too. Visorak Kal, I also disagree with you when you say that 2007 is the best year of bionicle, and so on and so forth. Why? Well, because, you can't say that one year is the best, no questions asked. Because no matter what you say, someone will have a different perspective, and often it is just as good as the former. Maybe I made a mistake when I wrote the title; maybe I should have said this was MY opinion, but all the people here who are making rock hard claims like "2001 is the best, end of story," "Piraka Bodies stink, no questions asked," etc, are also taking it too far. Fact is, you can simply not claim something like that without conceeding that it's your opinion. There is no UNQUESTIONABLY right way or wrong way of doing bionicle, as long as it makes money, because there are bound to be people that love the way its being done, and some that hate it. I love 2007. KMOI dislikes it. Visorak Kal loves it. Ravensburg hates it. But no one in their right mind can say "So and so year is the best year, without question" without making it an opinion, and far from a fact. So often we all slip on that and get carried away with our arguments, but in the end it's all our different perspectives on how we think Bionicle should be done. Phew, glad that's over with. Maybe I shouldn't have started this topic in the first place... 8-|

Well, first post here. All these times I keep making a point to post a review in this topic, but somehow it never happens. X-D Anyway, I watched World Trade Center with my family. Very, VERY powerful movie, but then again, it's about 9/11, so I didn't expect anything less. 'Specially glad that the ONLY evil characters were the ones that weren't even show (terrorists, of course). If they had thrown in a couple of stabs at the President just to make a non-related point, my Dad probably wouldn't have even bought this film, as no doubt the whole outlook would be different: from "America is in it together", to "Bush is a terible president!" Okay, so I'm getting carried away again, but we've already had one film like that (Farenhight 9/11, anyone?) :-X

I'm really ticked off right now: they aren't making this game for PC! And since I don't own any next-gen consoles, no LSW: CT for me. >:-(

Zarkan replied to Mr Hobbles's topic in Culture & Multimedia
They're called the Pits of 100 Trials. ;-) I've attempted to beat the one on the gamecube version a couple times, but considering that it takes at least 2 hours to do it, from what I see, I don't think that will be happening right now.... (too much video game time makes my eyes tired, plus I'm not usually allowed to play for several hours in a row) 8-| Ah, who cares. I'm playing Smash Bros. Melee right NOW. Awesome game; Captain Falcon rules! *sweet* -
Sheesh, what's with all this crazy discussion about baseplate rules? This is supposed to be a contest about killing the dead, but it seems we'll all be dead before this topic gets back on track! :-P
-
Yeah, far better than 2005 - Only two masks in the entire lineup (excluding the playsets) and they were only in the exclusives! I sure was upset about that. *n*

I've seen another Movie Style Krekka that is a lot better, but this still is pretty good! The head is the best part: it totally captures the look of his face. *y*

I wasn't talking just about the animations, which I agree are pretty lame. I also am talking about other web content we have been getting. Especially this year: Bionicle Story.com has to be about the best Bionicle related thing in years, and I really cant get enough of it. Also, remember the Vahki animations from 2004? They may have not been long, but they really were cannon in the fact that they brought along the idea of heartless, emotionless law enforcers in Metru-Nui, and a Communist like regime that Makuta had created in the city. That was to me just as good as the old templar animations, and I'm really glad we still have acess to those as well. :-) And is that wrong? Seriously, I get upset when people act like an MOC is only good if it is totally-out of the box original. You don't have to use something in a totally unique way each time to MOC, and you seriously can't say that an MOC is bad unless it truly looks bad. Lessovik's sled may be filled with silver, but I happen to like the design, and may get Lessovikk if he is still availble next year. To me, pieces don't have to be useful in 1000 thousand ways to be GOOD pieces. Look at the lego motorcycles we've had for years. All of the designs, from the dinky classic ones to the modern, sleek ones have used big pieces, but not many people have complained, because they do what they are supposed to do. I dislike the term Junorized when talking about things like that, because TRUE junorization is things like Jack Stone, where the sets both are made of big pieces and look AWFUL. Just because something is made of fewer pieces doesn't mean it's any more stupid: what matters is whether it does it's job well. In the case of Piraka bodies, I think they succeed, but in the case of 4+ Pirates, they totally fail. :-X I like this topic too: it's entertaining to see how worked up everyone (including mysef) can get about a stupid toy. (J/K) :-P

Okay, no offense, but I said these were my OPINIONS. So, please tell me, why are you saying bold statements and acting like you are right just because you're older than me? Look, just because I didn't say "I think that Tohunga parts aren't useful" doesn't mean it's not my opinion and is FACT. No offense, but I think a lot of people read me wrong. Everyone seems to think that this was just a "this is the way it is post, and this is how things work post" when all I was trying to do is share my opinion about things. This was not a rant, this was not a factual thing, this was my OPINION, so please just don't assume the opposite. *wacko* Oh, LOST. That show that is going to go through 3 more short seasons and will be boring everyone to death by the time its over. X-D Seriously, that is the reason why I hate LOST so much. LOST is one of those shows that makes much more mysteries than solves them each episode. My mom used to be a fan, but now that the seasons keep making more and more mysteries she completely "lost" interest (pun intended). Besides, you can't even compare Bionicle to Lost (IMO). Aside from the island thing, nothing really is similar - I mean, even the island makeup is totally different! LOST island is far simpler in terain than Mata Nui - have you ever seen Ice villages and active volcanoes on it? :-/ One question: Why? Why is it any worse than using Toa Olda Bodies for, say, a neck? Fact is, with MOCing, there is no stupid way to do something, as long as it works. You can't go around saying that making bigger bodies out of smaller bodies is bad just because it's far easier to do. Not everybody wants to spend time making bodies out of small technic beams, like Jinzo does (which is fine as well). Also, yes, you loved the gears. I don't like them, but I didn't say that either opinion is right or wrong. Also, what's wrong with liking the new style because I think it's cooler? That is totally biased, IMO, because although you didn't say it, you yourself like the gears better because you like the old style better. Can you say, contradiction? :-/ Okay, better prepare for the next wave of comments.... :-P

Okay, by now I kind of have a general grasp on how a lot of the Bionicle fans here think. Generally, this forum has a mixed view on how good the current years are, but the majority of people here seem to believe that 2001 was the best year of Bionicle, hands down. While I agree that it was a great year and a landmark achievement for lego, calling it the best year ever just doesn

Okay, so suppose you are at a friends house and playing with his legos, and then his mom comes in and says "your buildings must be no more than 20X30 studs each, you divide every type of brick evenly between each other, and all buildings belong to me, the goverment, so if I say that your little brother can destroy one of your buildings and build a military center on it for the goverment, you must comply." Is that fair? :-| Seriously, this is just ridiculous, and yet you seem to be agreeing with those wacko teachers. And the network has nothing to do with it. These kind of things are everywhere, and this sure isn't the only orginization that's reported on crazy people with comunistic-like agendas. *wacko*

Okay, for about a week, I've been working on an Exo-force site, but I've direct linked to pictures on Brickset and Lego.com. Some members on another site told me that this costs the sites I linked to bandwith, but I'm not sure if this is true. After all, there is a lot of direct linking going on here, and I haven't heard anyone said it's wrong (I've even linked to some stuff, but I've not been reprimanded or anything). So, I need to know: does direct linking cause loss of bandwith when you just link to pictures and put them on a free site? (like freewebs) I checked Wikipedia, but I don't really trust the article there, as it says it has potential problems above the text. So, if anyone can help me, please do. :-) (P.s. If someone doesn't know, Direct linking is when you post the actual image in a post or on a site, instead of just a text link to it.)

Batbrick, your entry is so good that I just might vote for it instead of being the usual stuck-up voter and voting for myself! 8-

Brickshelf FIND: Reuse of juniorized airplane parts
Zarkan replied to natelite's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Hey? Who says all the airplane parts are <insert that tiresome argument>? The tail and top of the cockpit are, but the main fueslage parts and maybe even the wings still have uses! :-P But, yeah, this MOC is totally awesome. Thanks for sharing it, natalie. ;-) -
Well, whatdayouknow. I actually got my contest entry in earlier than almost everyone else! *wacko* Oh, and I did a huge ammount of overlapping. My actual vig's almost 3 times as long as the 8X8 I used for the base! X-D

Hey, second poster! Cool, I finally get something done quickly! X-D ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Throughout the lands the Crown nation rules over and has fought in for the last year, one distinct question continues to surface:
-
Man, yoda. Your eyes must be tired from all of that winking you're doing today. :-P Anyway, great idea for a contest, Hinckley! So great in fact, that I built my entry before I even wrote this post! I'll get a picture and bio up soon.... although what soon actually means has not been decided yet. X-D ~~END~~

I respectfully and totally disagree, of course, but I still must admit that this is a very creative MOC. Simple, but effective considering your opinion. Um, is it safe to say that I actuall like Bush and don't think that this war was a total waste? 8-| :-P
