Hm, I really can't tell any major differences between the old one and this new one much besides the strange markings and a bit more dark red. However, I'm kinda upset about the figures: sure, we get two new awesome jedi, and if they are like Kit-Fisto, even better, but only TWO clone troopers? That seems a little low for a gunship... :-/ Ah well, doesn't matter for me, since this is WAY out of my price range. :-P

What game are we playing at the moment?
Zarkan replied to Mr Hobbles's topic in Culture & Multimedia
Went to my local gamestop and played that Super Mario Galaxy demo AGAIN. I just can't get enough of that game, even though I don't even own a Wii... *wub* BUT, that could change after my birthday, where I just might have enough money to get one. *sweet* Of course, I'll have to pass on a lot of lego's that year. Ugh, tough choice... :'-( -
I have to totally disagree with yoda on this one. First of all, what's wrong with Skeleton horses? We only got 5 in the entire 2007 lineup, so a way to get REALLY cheap ones is great IMO. ;-) Also, the knight kit isn't the best, but I don't see what's wrong with the weapon choices. You get a crossbow, an axe, and a classic sword all in a two dollar set. And what's wrong with the torso and helmet? They look fine to me. Oh wait, you already corrected that. :-$ For me, these will be great sets since they will be really cheap and they have some great stuff. Respectufully disagreeing, of course. ;-)

... Weird. Cartoon Batman? Movie batman logo? Old figures? These prototypes are about the bigest liscence mish-mash I've ever seen in lego form. *wacko* Still, the sets are looking pretty cool. I probably won't buy any, but at least they aren't terrible for prototypes. ;-)

Problem is, he'll probably get what he wants, since TLC is aiming Bionicle at the 8-10 year old range, and are now trying to get 6-7 year olds into it as well. :-( Eh, even if Mazeka is the original Makuta, I won't be unhappy, since he'll still be "THE MAKUTA" to me. However, I WILL be unhappy if he is just another Phantoka Makuta clone with a tridax pod chest and cheesy slapped together weapons! Come on TLC, 2007 had the best bionicle lineup since 2001, and now you're throwing all the genius put into Maxilos and Nocturn down the drain. >:-(

Remember, it's just a preliminary. Things could change a lot from the prototype to the final kit. We shall how good or bad it really is soon enough. ;-) Regarding the new coast guard set, I am seriously in awe of the ammount of detail and design put into this beauty of a set. 8-

Hm, interesting. Can't say I LOVE what I'm seeing, but since this is just one PRELIMINARY picture, I'll pass on judging it so soon. :-/ BTW, I really don't think that Mars Mission was a waste at all. Seriously, I love it a lot more than Life on Mars, and it has a lot of cool human and alien vehicles. The only realy cons for me were the jelly aliens and the cruddy foam launchers, but it is my opinion, so I know many disagree. For me, it's Mars Mission ON, and this new theme possibly on; once we see better pictures I'll know. ;-)

Yeah, I know. Probably makes Super Paper Mario players wish that they had badges in that game. :-P -
Man, that is one cool set. The color scheme still is a bit wonky, but the actual design and details are WONDERFUL! That giant zodiac especially is awesome: I love it! *wub* Impulse sets are great too: a cute street sweeper, a civilian set, and an ogre! Mars mission set is eh, but the rest are great! *y* Ugh, no more awesome sets that I want, please... *wacko* :-P

Of course I won't laugh! Mario is awesome and his games are too! I've also beaten the Master all three times on Paper Mario - actually, I've beaten the entire game 3 times! *wacko* The fights with the Master really help if you have the Zap Tap badge, since he can't use his double and triple attack moves that prevent you from defending. ;-) Right now, though, I'm playing through Bionicle Heroes on my PC for the second time. Not a game for everyone, but I really like it, and it has some of the best graphics I've ever seen on a game aimed at kids. *sweet* -
Yesterday I watched my new Batman Begins DVD. Man, that might have been even better than the first time I saw it. Great action, deep characters, good plot, and some top-noch voice acting! I even didn't mind potato-sack-head... Er, Scarecrow as much, since he seemed a lot more creepy this time than the first. Now I'm really looking foward to The Dark Night, since I see now that the makers really are trying to take a more realistic and believable series out of a sort of campy superhero world. I mean, Joker is great, but he is so silly really - since when did falling in acid make your face white and insane instead of burning you to nothing? :-P Oh, and the batman begins music theme is just *sweet*
-
Oh, whoops. :-$ Er, now that I know what you really are saying, let me make a better reply: I totally understand your distaste over the Makuta species name, but you

Then that means that I and Visorak-Kal have also been "owned." And I doubt anyone would liked to be refered to as someone that has been tricked into liking so called "crud." |-/
-
Okay, seriously, even I could have thought of better names than these. Gorast? Bitil? Rockoh T3?! :-| Then again, when you have to pull random names off an already made list, like Greg and the team have to do, there's no real hope for it to remain okay. |-/ On the plus side, there's lots of titans, so I'm betting that at least one of them is decent enough for me to purchase. :-)

National Treasure: Book of Secrets. Saw it with my parents, grandparents, and my 11 year old brother. :-) Man, that was awesome. Okay, so it wasn't quite as good as the first, but it still was a lot better than many crud sequels of movies. There was a ton of action and suspense, maybe even more than in the first, and the same fun puzzles and clues that made the first so enjoyable. I'd probably give it an 8/10, and the first 9.5/10. ;-) Oh, and that Goofy cartoon they showed before the actual movie was classic! The only problem was that it added onto a HALF-HOUR of movie previews and other stuff, which was really annoying. They said the movie would be done at 5:30, but we didn't get out until 6 O'clock. |-/

Hm, I guess this is as good as a time as any to pull out the old websters dictionary! :-) *searches for gimmick in dictionary* GIM-MICK (gim'ik), n. 1. An ingenious or novel device or stratagem, especially one used to draw attention or increase appeal. Well, looking at this, I'd have to disagree. While I particulary hate the tridax pods, I can say with certainty that they are novel, and of couse they are used to draw attention of the 8-10 year olds who love Bionicle. They seem to fit the definition of gimmick pretty well, IMO. :-/

Couldn't disagree more, especially when I'm looking at my Golden Guardian, Supernova, and Striking Venom. Besides, you can't say a line is bad just because you hate anime. And violence? Hah, it's no more violent then Bionicle, probably even less, because no one dies except emotionless robots. Concerning Mars Mission - Terible colors? What's so bad about orange and white, and lime and black? Vehicle wise, I seriously can't think of a show that in any way resembles Mars Mission at all. Plus, the storyline is no less logical than many Sci-Fi shows and movies. Figures is the only way that I can agree with you, but only Alien wise, because I love the humans. *wub* Huh? You're saying that Toa Mata bodies and Piraka bodies are both <insert that tiresome argument>, but you like Mata bodies and dislike Piraka bodies? Er, maybe not. I didn't understand this part well. *wacko* What does lightups and glow in the dark have to do with Greg F? He has nothing to do with set design - he just writes the story, and I never have seen a quote where he said he loves those features (he can't say anything bad though, since he works for TLC). If you hate those gimmics, fine, but don't blame Greg, as he is a story man, not a set man. |-/ And in here lies the problem. This isn't reasonable at all, because of course we can't all agree on things like that! Some of us love 2006 and beyond, while others hate it. There's nothing wrong with that, and you can't expect us all to agree. That's what discussion is all about - giving opinions and trying to back them up with reasonable posts. Without disagreement, there would be no real discussion, since that's what life is about. ;-)

Woah, now there's some COOL kits! Funny that they look so much like the prototypes, but still, they're great! Lots of green, tons of folage, awesome figures, and multi-colored giant ant molds! *wub* I am wondering though - what's with those new skellies? Do they have giant blue crystals in their heads or something? *wacko*

Drat, and I was going to post this topic myself. :-P Anyway, I got the following: Exo-Force Golden Tower Mars Mission Landing Craft Bionicle Maxilos and Spinax Bionicle Hydraxon Bionicle Jaller Mahri Bionicle Nuparu Mahri Castle Skeleton Prison Carriage Movie - Batman Begins A set of CD's of a radio program I love Candy Pencils A Spiderman Christmas ornament I was able to get more lego this year than usual because my mom took advantage of a couple of B2G1F sales at TRU (with a suggestion from me, of couse. :-P ). Even better was the fact that I get to spend Christmas with my grandparents as well (who are still here). :-)
-
I liked them too, which is why I got Keetongu. I thought he was better than Roodaka because at least it seemed that he was holding his weapons or that they were strapped onto his arms, instead of actually BEING his arms and hands like Roodaka. :-/ Stole the words right out of my mouth. This is by far the biggest reason why the Phantoka Makuta, Icarax, and Mutran have no appeal to me. Even the Hordika torso was far more useful than their "torso" (I actually built a decent MOC around one of those! ;-) ), and the fact that TLC just HAD to add another launcher gimmic to Bionicle is just :-X

Another day, another great review. ;-) One thing I love about the parts selection in this line is how they keep making that cheif's hat in new colors. Since 2006, we've gotten it in trans clear, trans blue, and now trans PINK! Besides those pink hats, this kit seems to have a lot of other useful pieces, like that giant white dome and Sandy's helmet. This kit and the other new 2008 kit will probably be favorites of hardcore MOC'ers. ;-)
-
I may not be a fan of spongebob, but I must say the lego line is chock-full of useful parts. This kit is no exception - lots of orange and WHITE tires! If I was a hardcore MOC'er, this would be a must buy. *y* Great review as always, Hinckley. ;-)
-
Great review, little green man. ;-) I must say I love this set, especially since it has so much green. *sweet* At first I didn't like how the containers didn't had studs on the top, but then I realized this means that you can put things in them! So, this would be a must buy for me - IF I had a lot of money like all the AFOL's here. 'Tis tough for a TFOL like me... |-/ ;-)
-
That really annoyed me when I last went to TRU. I walked into the lego isle and was all happy about them having new kits until I saw the price tag. Then, I was like "No way, TLC raised the exo force prices again! Now it's gonna cost me 100 to get all of them, instead of 76!" *wacko* Then, I looked on lego.com and saw that the prices were the same as last year. Which means only one company raised the prices, and it wasn't TLC. >:-( That's why I hate TRU, but sadly I may have to buy 2008 lego from there until Uber-Slow-Walmart gets the new line in. |-/

Hey, he's not the only one I've listened to, and although you probably weren't thinking this, no way am I an "uber loyal idolizer." :-P Hannedy, Savage, and Ingram (sp?) are all good too, it's just that Rush and that nickname came to my mind when I was thinking about these enviormental and gas related issues. Besides, it's either that lot and a few others or Keith Oberman and Chris Mathews on NBC. :-X And since I'm conservative, which would I really choose? X-D BTW, I've learned in my experiences with lego shopping that Walmart is always last to get the latest sets out. The TRU nearest to me has a lot of 2008 Exo-force, Racers, and other stuff, while TRU is lacking anything new. Unfortunately, even TRU hasn't gotten in the new Bionicle, starwars, town, or most of the other themes in yet. Also, not being an extreme and totally expert MOC'er like you, Jinzo, Pohatu really has no use for me. Lewa on the other hand is okay better, and I might get him if I decide to spend all my money on legos again next year. But that may just not be the case.... X-O :-P
