  1. Your MOC's continue to impress me, Shine. I love how you used system parts in a way that didn't seem forced, but natural and streamlined. Also, am I right in assuming that this MOC is female? One more thing: your MOC naming skills rock.
  2. Well, I finally bought the new Tahu Nuva kit today, and as soon as I had built him I tore him apart and redesigned his form and gear. Originaly, I planned to only modify the weapons and chest, but I soon realized that that wouldn't cut it. So, I also modified his limbs and jets, reducing the massive glut of silver and streamlining his form. Here are the results: Side view of his new weapon, AKA firesword 3.0. I love how I used the blades on his former spinny-shield-thing. A back view, showing the new arangement of the jets. I originally didn't mind the mecha-jet arangement on the official kit, but once had Tahu in my hands I quickly grew tired with it. Old rivalies do die hard. Comments and questions are appreciated, as always.
  3. I fail to see why Teridax is so stupid. Personally, I thought The Makuta's real name was a relief and not that bad, especially compared to some of the other names this year like Helryx and Klak.
  4. I have another idea: let's not. Seriously, this is getting out of hand. We're supposed to be talking about 2009 sets in this topic, not flaming a member of another forum because he was refusing to believe something. All you're showing by calling him all those names is that YOU are the immature one - as Eurobricks members, we're supposed to act like adults, not like the average BZP noob.
  5. Here's an idea - Lego Carnival. This theme could incorporate a ton of fun sets involving everything you'd find at the average city carnival. Ideas for sets could include the following: - Game stands with working functions. You could have a target shooting booth with some kind of shooting device, a crane game with a working crane, etc. - Small rides like bumper cars, mini planes, etc. - Stands for food, drinks, ice cream, gifts, toys, and anything else that you could find at a carnival. They could package several of these together as well. - Big rides like a Feris Wheel, carousel, and possibly even a roller coaster. - Other things like an arcade, mini golf, etc. This would be a welcome break from inner city themed kits, and would be plenty of fun for both kids and adults.
  6. Wow. Just WOW. That video has to be one of the coolest bionicle related things EVER. I suppose you mean Leigh's poster version - because the version seen in the final comic is almost exactly like the one in the video. Also, I have a feeling that the reason Aravagantos has acted like this is possibly because he's about the only bionicle fan that DOESN'T like the idea of Mata Nui being the universe.
  7. Everyone that would have wanted to play a demo of the game already has the full version by now.

    City '09?

Those US prices are most likely incorrect, as American prices generally are less than European prices. I'm thinking the Farm will probably be around 50 dollars, actually - it's no bigger than other 50 dollar sets we've had.
  9. Fixed. In all seriousness though, I don't see why everyone thinks BZP is unreliable. Yes, many of the members are, but the actual frontpage information is usually very accurate.
  10. I had a hard time deciding between City and Pirates, but I ended up going with the latter. I only have had one Pirate set for my entire life, so it's great that I now have the chance to finally invest in that theme again. I'm also really excited about the farm sets in the City line, but I will be modifying the big farm set a bit. Mainly, I'll just be improving the barn by adding walls and doors.
  11. As we all know, TLC has increased the ammount of Technic used in regular System sets, especially in certain themes. I've noticed that this is an issue many people here are divided about, so I decided to make this poll to see what everyone's opinion on current Technic usage is. Personally, I don't care how much is in sets. Heavy technic usage in themes like Mars Mission and Starwars just doesn't seem to bother me much at all. I think TLC is using a bit too much in some sets, but it's not that big an issue to me - you're still building the kits, after all.
  12. As usual, I am very late. Oh well, happy birthday.
  13. Despite the fact that I haven't actually bought any kits from the theme yet (limited budget's killing me ), I love this theme and everything about it. It far outclasses Alpha team in every area - vehicle design, minifigures, bases, colors and parts, etc. My favorite agent is easily Fuse, as he kinda reminds me of myself, with the hair style and glasses. I also love the Turbo car above every other agent's vehicle - it really captures the james bond feel of the line with lots of gadgets built into the design. My favorite villain is easily gold tooth, as he's a really fun character with the golden hair, teeth, piercings, and gun. The best villian vehicle to me is no doubt the jet included with the Mobile command base. It's very compact and well designed. As yoda used to say, Agents ON!
  14. While you're right about the price difference between the two sets, I think you should read my post again. I said I didn't expect that of this kit, only that I wished they had included just ONE more figure, not 6 more figures. I don't think that's that much to ask for - the $20 skeleton chariot in 2007 included NINE figures, counting horses.
  15. Honestly, the chances of the Mata Nui set just being Matoro Inika are basically nothing. Lego does not rerelease bionicle sets - this is most definitely a placeholder.
  16. That looks better, but I think you might be able to improve it more if you swap the front and back sails. That way, there will be less area between the forward and middle masts, and it will probably fix the problem of the high stern. I must say though, that red sarlacc-like monster is excellent! I hope the final scene will include a few prisoners being eaten by it.
  17. This is a hilariously twisted entry, joe! The idea is very original, and you've chosen the perfect faces for the two figures. Also, I actually like the mixture of new and old grey - because in my opinion, building with different shades of grays is more realistic than using same shade everywhere. The only complaint I have is minor: the shield used in the bathroom doesn’t really fit with the Pirates theme. If you replaced it with something else – say, a lantern – then that would improve the scenery. Other than that tiny little criticism, this creation is fine just as it is.
  18. I don't really see what's wrong with having a big piece for the island - Pirate sets have used raised baseplates for years, and the ones in the new line are just a different style. I personally love that Loot Island has a unique baseplate - it makes it a must have for me, among other things.
  19. The general ship design is looking very good, Lord King! I love that it has skeletal arms and a skull - that really adds to the uniqueness of your creation. I think that the problem you are having with the sails is due to the stern – it’s way too tall, and it makes the back sail looks strange. The rear sail should probably be lower than the frontal and middle sails, so I suggest you lower the stern at least 7 bricks, if not more. That would probably improve the design immensely. Also, can I assume that the final entry will have better pictures than this? Your current shot is way too grainy and dark, but since this is just a work in progress, I understand. Other than those two things, you are off to a really great start!
  20. As usual, you’ve made an excellent MOC, Hinckley. There’s plenty of detail in the village, lots of Eurobricks members, and plenty of pirate carnage. I especially love the way you did the pillars in the front of the port. However, I do have one big criticism: the pirate ship. While the bow and the figurehead are excellent, the stern is simply way too big for a ship that size. It seems like it would just sink the poor boat with its ungainly girth, and it also has far more brown than the front end of the ship – making the colors look a bit unbalanced. Still, overall I like this entry a lot. If you could improve the back end of the ship, I’d be even happier with it.
  21. 65d Argh, me mateys! In anticipation of the new Pirates line coming out next year, I decided to fix up my Armada Flagship to modern standards. This is the only Pirates kit that I currently own, and its not exactly the cream of the crop - so I went all out in improving every area of it. I'm hoping I can get Brickbeard's ship in 2009 to display along with this mod. Let's take a look! Here's a general view of the ship. As you can see, basically everything is different from the original kit, aside from the configuration of the sails. I've built up the hull and given it a real deck and cabin. Frontal view, showing off the figurhead and the beautiful but slightly wrinkled sail. Next, a view of the top deck of the ship (is this called the stern? I'm not too familiar with nautical terms). This is fairly close to the original, except that it has two lanterns and doesn't have the annoying colapsing sail in the original. A view of the hatch that leads to below deck. Yes, there is an interior down there, although I'm not sure if it could fit actual minifigures. You can see the ladder leading down, and the yellow thing in the corner is one of two hamocks I squeezed in. There's no cannons currently, as I don't have nearly enough to fill up all four spots. The captain's quarters! This is a fairly nice room, with a desk and chair, a map, an ink pot, a globe, and a candle (it's left of the bottom stair). Finally, the back of the ship. Aside from the sails, this is probably the least modified part of the ship. Well, that's all! Considering that I'm not used to building with Pirates style ships, I think my mod came out very well. Comments and questions are appreciated!

    City '09?

Guys, I've checked the instructions for the farm set, and the fedora is most definitely tan, not white. Personally, I'm not surprised, as tan seems to be a much more fitting color for a farmer than white (straw hat anyone?).
  23. Thanks for the great review. This set is pretty standard as Islanders go, but it is such a cool subtheme that I don't care a bit. I totally agree with your comment about old and new sets. I don't think I would enjoy Lego as much if I didn't have a decent amount of kits from pre 1999.
  24. Nice sorting! Just for kicks, I'll post pictures of my collection, like other people did on page one. Starting off, here's my big containers near the doorway to my room. In these, I keep my basic bricks, big plates, wheels, doors and windows, and fins. They're positioned right behind my town display, so it's a bit cramped - but since I'm young and agile, getting to them is pretty easy. Right here is what I call my "personal lego isle." There's a lego cabinent that has a lot of lego containers in it, and various other boxes in this space that I can't fit anywhere else. Here's four of my biggest sorting containers. Starting from the top left and going counter clockwise, we have my small slopes, large technic pieces, small plates, and lanscaping/architecture pieces (plants, arches, pillars, fences, etc.) These are all my smaller sorting boxes. All of my modified bricks (bricklink term for bricks with specialized sides), hinges, tiles, small technic pieces, minifig parts and acessories, round pieces, and various other things are in these seven containers. A view of the opposite side of my minifig box. The top has all the basic minifig parts, while the bottom has headgear, backpacks, visors, and capes - as well as droid parts, a few jack stone figures (don't stone me ), and some hinges that I couldn't find a better place for. Here's a couple other containers, that have my rare color bricks, technic beams, big bricks and slopes, and some other modified parts. This is my biggest container, which has almost all my vehicle parts. Everything from jets to tails to the octogonal bricks from Aquazone are in this bad boy. Bottom of my biggest container, which has the largest vehicle parts, as well as windshields and large animals. Overall, I'm pretty proud of my collection. I've seen other collections that families with teenagers own, and they're not a pretty sight - which is why I'm particularly happy with my organizing job. It's probably going to stay this way until I get a full-time job and home of my own, which won't happen for at least 6-7 years. Until then, I think this suits me pretty well.
