[KEY TOPIC] Official LEGO Sets made in LDD
Zarkan replied to Calabar's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Now that all the 2013 instructions are finally up, I'm starting on the third wave of Ninjago. Dang, Penguinz, you got the jump on me by only a few seconds. 70500 - Kai's Fire Mech - Theme: Ninjago Errors: Missing prints and stickers Missing exclusive fire sword part (currently not listed on either Brickset or Bricklink) LXF (LDD 4.3) 70501 - Warrior Bike - Theme: Ninjago Errors: Missing prints and stickers Missing parts 6021269, 6020757, and 6020755 Missing rubber band 4544140 Missing exclusive lightning sword part (currently not listed on either Brickset or Bricklink) Tread 1681 does not flex, and thus can not be placed on model LXF (LDD 4.3) ~~~~ On another note: Superkalle, I've checked once more, and the sets I uploaded that you said were lost in the server crash still appear for me. I'm not sure what is going on, but if you want, I will repost those entries anyway. Also, I haven't forgotten about correcting the last few sets I posted. I'll get around to doing that in time for my next post.- 5,041 replies

REVIEW: 70003 Eris' Eagle Interceptor
Zarkan replied to WhiteFang's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Great review. I am curious why you gave it such a low rating in the value catergory, though. Are you basing this on the Singapore price? Because as you showed, in the US it practically reaches the renowned "10 pieces per dollar" price ratio, which has long been considered to be a very good value.- 34 replies

Question about Glatorian socket durability:
Zarkan replied to Sir Walter Maugham's topic in LEGO Action Figures
I will add that from my experience, the 2009 Glatorian versions of remolded parts seem somewhat more durable than when they were first introduced in the 2008 waves, as I have yet to break any of them. The exception is the one new socket joint part that was introduced in 2009: the fingered hands. I've had several of those break on me, and they probably all will if they are disassembled and reassembled enough times. -
I think Prince of Persia has been one-upped. These sets look absolutely stunning. This also definitely makes up for how abysmal POTC was. Here's hoping the theme does well, even if the movie isn't that great.

Zarkan replied to Calabar's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Thanks! You're incredibly knowledgable as always, Aanchir. I already tried that with no success, but just to be sure, I did so again. No dice. Yes, and I'm not sure why, but for some reason the posts still appear for me and are even editable.- 5,041 replies

LDD 4.3.5 bugs
Zarkan replied to Superkalle's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Something just came to light as I was making a correction to my model of 2259 Skull Motorbike: it turns out that the chain link piece in LDD has small gaps between the connections of each two links, meaning that the part is not as long and thus can sometimes not be used the same way as in real life. -

Zarkan replied to Calabar's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
I've checked the model and you're right. The problem is, for some reason the chain can't stretch as far as it does in real life. In the real life model, when the handle used to activate the skull head function is directly vertical, the chain is fairly loose and the skull head lies flat upon the bike. In LDD, it appears to be impossible to even get the lever to a completely vertical position without the skull head being partly levitated. I've attached a modified LDD file for reference.- 5,041 replies

I fiddled around with this for a bit and I still can't seem to get it to fit. Do you think you could attach an LXF with it assembled so I can add it to the model?- 5,041 replies

[KEY TOPIC] Official LEGO Sets made in LDD
Zarkan replied to Calabar's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Thanks for that. I've added your hand and replaced the 2x2 plates with the correct parts, as well as added the mech pilot's three part headgear. FTR, both those mistakes were due to me originally building this model in a previous version of LDD, which had none of those parts. I had already gone through and corrected a few other substitutions, but I managed to miss those. The lxf file and screenshot are both updated. I've also built a couple other Ninjago kits since posting my first one: Lasha's Byte Cycle and Destiny's Bounty. I'll hopefully get around to posting them tomorrow.- 5,041 replies

The Eagle's "Castle" could not be more underwhelming. On the plus side, that Raven vehicle is the first Chima set I've seen that I've instantly fallen in love with. The others have grown on me quite a lot since their initial debut (which disappointed me quite a bit) but this one wowed me right away.

So, I've decided to join in on the fun. I'll start with a set I did weeks ago and am suprised no one else has done yet: 9448 - Samurai Mech - Theme: Ninjago Errors: Missing all prints and stickers Missing parts 6016683 and 9815102 Part 4278756 does not attach to part 4514553, technic axle substituted for latter part Mech helmet does not come down fully when minifig pilot has headgear on LXF (LDD 4.3.5)- 5,041 replies

Well, Speeda Demon is technically a non-humanoid, but I agree.

Rumor: Lego moving brick production away from China
Zarkan replied to Pro_Ice's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Its interesting to me that this issue is being raised again, because back in September I was discussing it with another member in the Hero Factory 2013 speculation topic. What confuses me is that the member I was talking with states that that color consistency was actually worse in the classic era than is now: http://www.eurobrick...pic=73334&st=50 Correct me if I'm wrong, but is that not the exact opposite of the assumption this latest topic is operating under? Or am I just confused about some of the technical details? Needless to say, I"m not really sure who or what to believe. -
I can't say I'm sad to see the Glatorian head go, as it means that TLG's constraction figure lines are now 100% free of fragility. From what I've experienced via my brother's Green Lantern figure, connecting 2.0 sockets and ball joints puts close to zero pressure on the former part, all but eliminating the breaking problems that plagued Bionicle in its last couple of years. I still think the 2008 remold fiasco is one of the worst mistakes TLC ever made, and I've glad to see they've since learned their lesson.
-
I'm a little confused by something. If Galaxy Squad is indeed a Summer theme (which is strongly indicated by the lack of high-res images), then why on earth would TLC chose to advertise it in the last Lego Club magazine of 2012? I don't believe they've ever hinted at a theme in their end of year teaser unless it is a part of the winter wave.
-
I always thought Insectoids was highly underrated, so I'm glad to see TLC reinvisioning the concept. Of course, as with all themes these days, the aliens/non-humans are just the monsters - though to be fair, outside of a single maze book, I think that was also the case with the Insectoids. Regardless, its good to see the return of space.

Clone Review: Kre-O Battleship Missouri Set (38977)
Zarkan replied to Laura Beinbrech's topic in Community
Thanks for the review. Oxford, and by extension Kreo, are probably the best non-lego building brands to this day. At least in my town, however, it looks like Kreo has been a flop: at my local Walmart, practically every set they had has been moved to clearance. -
Sweet Suukorak, I can't believe I didn't notice that before! That is quite a suprising development.
-
Well well well, so I guess I'm not the only person who chewed on his lego pieces when he was a kid. Can't wait to see the finished product!

Um, if you're refering to the number of sets and not the prices, no it isn't. Exo Force's final wave had seven sets, while Ninjago's final wave has only six. And if you were referring to the latter, keep in mind that Exo-Force's other two Winter waves also did not feature sets more expensive than $30. That said, It is true that Ninjago's last year will probably end up being planned out a lot better, since this time the designers didn't save the biggest sets for a non-existent third summer wave, and the story will most likely be completely wrapped up. Also, Aanchir, I'm curious why you've been so hard on Cole's Power Drill, since in my opinion it is much better than his 2012 vehicle (which I felt was possibly the weakest set of the entire wave), and besides Loyd's golden robot is also the only substantial Ninja vehicle this wave. I'd say Cole probably fares better this wave than the other three original Ninja, especially Zane and Jay.
