Oh yes, I've had plenty of dreams like that. Back in 2006 when the first 2007 set leaks had come out, I was waiting patiently for the first images of the winter Bionicle sets to come out, as they were late to the party. As a result, nearly every night until they were revealed, I had a dream of finding them in a store or a catalog. The catch was, they always looked very different, and they had some very odd features. How odd? Try masks made out of Megabloks Dragon egg slime and instructions that swore at you and involved placing double A batteries inside the sets.

I honestly didn't have a problem with the music at all. Sure, it wasn't spetacular, but it didn't sound anywhere near as horrible as some people have claimed. Also, I didn't think the sound effects from the earlier movies were memorable at all. Why? Because I don't remember any of them.
-
Okay, might as well give my review of the new movie, since everyone else has as well.
-
Picked up the Skrall and Vorox Bionicle canister sets on clearance yesterday. I wasn't planning to get either of these sets, but for nine dollars each I really couldn't pass them up.
-
Sahmad may have not been nearly as threatening as the Skrall army, but he would have been a great change of pace. Seriously, he's a rebel Agori from an almost extinct tribe that captures other Agori and sells them as slaves. We've never had anything like that in the official bionicle storyline before, and it would have been nice to see another villager villian like Ahkmou. Oh well, at least we got Metus. Also - drat, I forgot to ask about Perditus. I bet the chances we'll see him are second to none, especially since he doesn't seem to really be an interesting or important character at all.

You just showed that what Arthas said was right. As good =/= better, and the same =/= they use the same formula. I meant what I said, which was that generic brands often taste about the same as the expensive brands, even though they use different formulas. But seriously, I'm not going to even argue any longer. It's obvious that nothing I or anyone else you say is going to change your opinion, and nothing you say is going to change mine, so let's just end this conversation and go back to discussing the original topic subject - Disney buying Marvel.

One problem with this statement: as of now, Megabloks's prices are almost exactly the same as Lego's prices. I know they weren't years ago, but they are now, which means that price is not a factor in this debate. Also, the cereal comment is rather silly, as generic brands often taste just as good as the more expensive brands. I would know, because my mom buys generic brands all the time. Care to explain why? Also, it seems that, through your line of reasoning, you technically can't prove anhything. Which may be true, but can't you at least admit that there is a lot of evidence that Lego is more popular than Megabloks? Because that at least is true, even if it doesn't totally prove it. Last time I checked, there was a total of one Megabloks forum, with about five active members. Compare this to the dozens of lego forums, with tens of thousands of active members. Now tell me Omi - from this data alone, which theme would you think has a bigger and more diverse fanbase?
-
Don't be silly, of course it does - or at least, it sure gives a reasonable amount of evidence. Sales statistics are the number one indicator of whether something is popular or not. If a brand makes a lot of profit, then it is popular - and if it loses money, it is not nearly as popular. Lego's sales are so much higher than Megabloks that it's very hard to make a case that the latter toy brand is somehow more popular than the former, despite the fact that it is not doing nearly as well. IMO, the battle between Star Wars and Star Trek is a far better example of this kind of popularity conflict than the examples you gave. Throughout all the years the two have been in existance, it would be hard to find very many people who would say that Star Trek is more popular than Star Wars. Oh sure, you'd find plenty of fans who would say that the former is superior to the latter. But superiority is different than popularity, and higher quality does not necessarily mean that it has wider appeal. Classic Star Trek is infinitely more philisophical and complex than it's main competitior - and yet its fanbase mostly consists of a small but devoted cult following. Star Wars is an action heavy fantastical romp that focuses less on complex moral issues and more on eye candy, and it also has a huge fanbase that covers many demographics and people of all ages. Look Omi, I know that you like Megabloks, and contrary to what many people here say, that is perfectly fine. But arguing that it might possibly be more popular than Lego is like arguing that WWII had a greater impact on the world than the life of Marylin Monroe. Oh sure, there are plenty of people who would say that the latter event is important - but no reasonable person would argue that it contributed more to the evolution of the world than the defeat of an oppressive, power-hungry alliance that threatened to take over the entire planet. There's just not any evidence that supports that belief - just as there is little to no evidence that Megabloks is more popular than Lego.

Yes, I had a slight suspicion that you might be joking - however, since it is nearly impossible to detect sarcasm on the internet, I thought I might as well play your comment straight. Perhaps this distaste for joking of this kind come from the fact that one forum I used to attend was overflowing with it, making it hard to tell whether someone was being serious or not. And seriously, I'm not that familiar with many of the more popular members from BZP - for all I know, you could have been serious, as I have heard people say before that opinions can be wrong.
-
Eh? The Hydruka were featured - they got a few cameos in Bionicle Legends 6. I think only Morak was actually mentioned by name, but they still were in the storyline. And besides, they're just little Rahi - it wouldn't matter much if they weren't featured. Sahmad, on the other hand, could have been awesome, had he been given any actual time in the story. Now that I know he won't, however, I'm hoping that one of the winning entries in the Core War story writing contest will feature him - that way, we can at least get a canon appearance in the storyline.
-
Well, I was thinking that if I ever got Kiina, I would switch out her arms for Tarix's legs, but since that probably won't happen, he'll remain with the metru legs. But yeah, I totally agree that we need some new limb molds - we haven't gotten any since 2006, for crying out loud!
-
Okay, here's the pictures of my modified Tarix, as promised. Sorry about the semi-bad photography - these are the first pictures I've taken in my new home, and it'll take me a little while to get a good setup. Frontal view. As you can see, the main improvements are rather obvious - the weapons are now far more realistic in their positions, the color scheme has been improved, and the body has been beefed up a bit. Side view, showing off how I fixed the position of his water blades. Also, I don't care what anyone says about the shoulder spikes - I love them and I think they're easily one of the best parts of the non-modified set. Back view. I added a spare Roborider head to the back to make the waist less skinny, and the body is now a technic pin higher. The construction is a lot more complex than you'd think from this shot - it had to be in order to both make the body taller and keep the armor on the front. Closeup of the body and head. Since I wanted to keep all the gold parts, I decided to bulk up the armor by adding some blue technic tubes and one of those v-shaped parts to the body. The rest of the blue comes from a bunch of blue 1x2 plates that I put wherever I could. Overall shot with Gresh, who is also modified a bit (Mainly just the arms, which I swapped out for Metru legs, and the body, which no longer has that obnoxious gap in the middle). Together, they can fight as allies, or.... ...as competitors in the Arena Magna tournament! Comments and questions are appreciated, as always.

Overall nice review and great pictures. However: What the... how on earth can an opinion be wrong? That's why it's called an "opinion," after all - it's not possible to classify it right or wrong, as it's a matter of taste, not fact. But, since you're playing that way, I might as well add my thoughts about Strakk. In a word, he is a horrible set, and one of the two worst Glatorian along with Malum. As awesome as his axe and helmet are, I can't get over the fact that he only looks good in about one pose. Those giant ice pieces may be great parts, but they simply do not work as shoulder pads. That, along with the Toa metru arm used to connect his head to the body makes Strakk look like a giraffed-necked monkey in just about every position besides the generic, frontal caveman pose. And worse, because of the way the shoulder armor part is made, he is virtually unfixable - unlike Tarix, who had wasted potential that can be brought to full glory with a bit of MOCing.

Dunno if this is new or not, but I've got some disapointing news from Greg: Telluris shows up in the The Crossing, and I think Atakus may have been in that as well, don't recall. I don't have plans for Sahmad. With only two books this year, and one a movie novelization, I did not have room to feature all the characters. Yep, unfortunately, Sahmad is the first set character to not appear once in the storyline, despite the huge potential he has as a villian.

Um, well, I used to own a PSOne. But I'm mostly a Nintendo fan. Although I must admit, Crash Team Racing was far better than the current version of the game it was based off of, Mario Kart 64. Tracks were more interesting, there was far more unlockable stuff and replay value, and it had an actual story mode. On the other hand, the only thing worthwhile about Mario kart 64 was the battle mode.

Well, I've posted in the other topic, but I haven't posted here about my titles. Basically, the first one (Gungan Rebel) I got for acting immaturely in the former Tie army Topic, the second (Indy afficianado) I got for demonstrating a total lack of knowledge about the Indiana Jones films, the third (Indy afficianado and Gungan) I got for remarking that I was glad that I didn't have the word "gungan" in my title, and the fourth (Boring Title Gungan) I got for remarking in the other title topic that my titles were boring compared to many of the other member's titles. Meditation sessions? Woah, that's a far cry from what moderators supposedly used to do in the Chamber. Anyone remember back when the joke was that it was a torture chamber?

Power Miners: New Sets for 2009
Zarkan replied to cartoondude's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Don't think this has been posted yet - there is a new Power Miners alternate model featured near the back of the September-October issue of the Lego Mag: Not bad, IMO. The name stinks, but the actual model is pretty cool. -
Ah, I used to love Thomas when I was really little, and my youngest brother has the same love for it now. He has a lot of the duplo Thomas sets, and I've got to say that they aren't that bad. TLC's done a good job of replicating the characters - the only problem is that they aren't doing well with the selection. I mean, come on - why a set of a random new engine like "Stanely" instead of all the classic characters they could make? They still haven't made Henry or Edward, for crying out loud! I have to disagree with that. Just walking by when my little brother is watching the new show, the first thing that popped into my head was "gosh, that is ugly!" Seriously, the animated faces aren't any more emotional than the classic way of doing them, and they don't look nearly as nice. But yeah, I agree about Thomas and the Magic Railroad. What is even more disturbing is that I wanted to go see it when I was young. First theater move I ever went too.

Oh yeah, I remember that cartoon! That was easily one of the best Disney-based TV shows the company has ever made, and miles better than the Hannah Montana/Jonas Brothers crap they make now. I'd love to see a set of the ship from that cartoon, and maybe some more based off of it if the first one sells well.

Wha? First of all, that is not a biased opinion - it is fact that lego is more popular than Megabloks (and this is coming from someone that has defended MB many times in the past). Secondly, you just invalidated your remark about lego "having the Halo license if they were that popular" as you stated the exact reason that they don't. It's not a matter of popularity - it's that they don't do licenses of video games or mature products like Halo. That is, if you're not being sarcastic, because I know you have been before when discussing this issue.

Wolfenstein - Veil Heavy Trooper and soldier
Zarkan replied to exxtrooper's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
Offensive? Heck no, these aren't any more offensive than Indiana Jones. Great job with the customs - it looks like you've captured the characters from Wolfenstine very nicely, and the decal designs are great. -
Great job - the propotions and usage of parts are fantastic. I especially like that you found another use for the Kadin. Most of the pieces in this MOC aren't even Bionicle parts - they're either normal technic or from the Slizers and Roboriders lines. The only Bionicle specific pieces I see are the Kanohi mask and the Toa feet.
-
Same here. I did a bit of surfing but I can't find it - just a bunch of suspicious looking sites.

Okay, I've watched the intro of the movie again, and I can't for the life of me figure out why people are claiming that it is horrible. I don't see how it supposedly ruined Robot Mata Nui - in fact, I think the intro did reasonably good justice to the incarnation of the Great Spirit that we first saw in the ghost movie. Sure, the animation's a little too fluid, but I think the lighting is fine, and the sweeping shots are really quite cool IMO. Oh, and I don't mind the music either. Yes, I'm not shaking easily from my opinion that this movie is far better than the first three in almost every way. Thank you for highlighting the very important fact that so many people here keep forgetting, Innerayg. Seriously guys, did you really expect the characters in the movie to look organic in the least? This movie is being made for kids, and the kids aren't going to care about miniscule details that Greg throws out on BZP. To them, the Glatorian are just as robotic as the Toa, since they look so similar in set form, and this means that the movie has to tailor the characters towards how they understand bionicle. I bet that if the Glatorian were made to look like "twisted humans" in The Legend Reborn, most kids would be freaked out and wonder what the heck they were watching. There's no point in trying to please the 0.01 percent of fans who follow the storyline religiously and care about details like this, so it's understandable why we are seeing things like rotating pins and a Skopio that looks and functions exactly the same as the vehicle that was based off of it. Face it guys: we're not the center of attention here.
-
Man, as much as I love the intro, it's so incredibly out of sync with the storyline. I mean, look at all the things it got wrong: - landmasses on Aqua Magna - Av-Matoran are still in the Core - the Core looks like a fusion reactor - the island of Mata Nui is still covered in vegetation - Aqua Magna is not one of the three planets in the UDD system - etc etc etc Seriously, the old movies may have been boring and poorly animated and voiced (for the most part) , but at least they didn't mess with previously established material. I think it's safe to say that the movie isn't canon until the Ignika crashes into the sands of Bara Magna. Eh? How is the animation any worse than what we've gotten before in Bionicle media? It's certainly not Ghost, but it's no flash animation either. And honestly, I think it's really hard to appreciate the music while it's overlayed on Polish dubs. Once we see the english version, I bet it will be a lot better.
