  1. Hey, this sounds pretty cool, actually. I was fairly impressed by the new Bionicle movie, and so I'd probably be willing to at least rent another lego movie made by them. Plus, the name Clutch Powers reminds me so much of the character names in the Lego Island PC games, which if nothing else had some wacky and hilarious characters.

    City 2010

Okay, might as well comment on the new pictures, now that everyone else has. Fire Station: Well, against all our hopes and wishes, TLC has done it once again - and the Fire subtheme has appeared for the third time in a row. Needless to say, I'm not especially happy, although this was surely expected by many. However, unlike many here, I actually think this new fire station is the best out of the three City designs, as it takes everything that was good about the second and fixes the one major problem with it - namely the lack of interior space. I'm eager to see sets of this in person, as there looks like there's a lot of room in there for a good interior. Add that to the inclusion of a fire pole, trees, a cat, and two good vehicles, and you have a fantastic kit that is only marred by the fact that it's still a Fire kit. Fire Boat: Again, it's a remake, but fortunately it's much better than the horrible Fire Boat we got in 2001. Unlike that piece of garbage, this one has a more consistent fire scheme and actually looks like a fire boat. Using a recolor of the Coast Guard boat hull was a great idea, and it looks excellent along with the tall cockpit. Plus, as with the new fire station, it seems like it has a good amount of interior space, which hopefully will be filled with some nice details. Fire Copter: If it wasn't for one minor (no, major) detail, this would be an excellent set, and a great improvement on the poorly designed Fire copter from 2009. Unfortunately, as much as I hate to say it, they've really blown it with the front. Seriously, I'm not as hard a critiquer of <insert that tiresome argument> parts, but even I can't overlook such a blatant cop-op as this. It's like the designers woke up one morning and didn't feel like making a good front out of basic parts, and instead just called their friends in the new parts division and asked them to make a one piece front that has more in common with Playmobil than lego. This is utter crap, lego, and I sure hope that it doesn't become a trend. Airport: In direct contrast to the new Fire Station, the new Airport fails to fix barely any of the problems with the old one, and in the process removes some of the great features like the baggage roundtable and the boarding walkway. The plane is just as big, the airport's interior isn't much better, and the control tower is inferior to the excellent one in the 2006 airport. Needless to say, this is very disapointing, especially since I was one of the few who requested a new Airport subtheme. Seaplane: On the flip side, the new civilan seaplane offers another excellent airplane in the classic style, and this is something I could actually see myself buying for my town display. It's nothing special, true, but it's still a great kit - I only wish I could say the same about the new airport. Tanker Truck: Now this is more like it! Back in 2007, I was hoping that TLC would eventually create a whole Octan subtheme to go with the excellent Gas Station released that year, including a tow truck and tanker. Sadly, when we did get a tow truck, it went with a totally different subtheme, and that dashed my hopes for the latter vehicle. And then, out of the blue, TLC suprises me with this beauty of a kit! Seriously, this is the perfect example of how to create a City equivilent of the tanker trucks of old, as it manages to be beautiful in design and color scheme whill not being exceedingly huge. I won't be buying it, as I don't have room in my town, but I'm still glad that City 2010 isn't a total disapointment. Tractor With Pigs: I saved the best for last, and now it's time for me to express my grattitude to TLC for continuing the Farm theme. Sure, it's only one kit, but man is it a great one! Four awesome new pigs and two farmers combined with an awesome tractor and some nice acessories make this an absolute must have for me, as well as being an all around great kit. Now, here's hoping that the summer City line next year is better.
  3. Yes, because they don't deserve to get this much praise. They're Av-Matoran with a few new parts, and up until now I was sure that everyone had gotten sick of that kind of set design. Aparrently not. That's exactly the problem I pointed out. This is no more than a cheap marketing move by TLC to please both kids and the older fans. "Who cares about making an original but well designed and nostalgic Tahu - let's just throw in a recolored Hau with a plus rod and the 2001-ites will buy it anyway!" Seriously, you guys may going head over heels about these new sets, but I'm not going to be praising anything until I see a new small set design that doesn't incorporate a single Av-Matoran part. This is one of the times where I feel glad that I'm not so obsessed with the early years of bionicle like some people are, and thus won't be pleased by one or two old masks with plus-rod connections.
  4. Honestly, I can't believe you guys are eating this crap up. Come on - these aren't legendary sets - they're Av-Matoran with a few new and modified molds slapped on to make them look just enough like famous Bionicle characters that kids will buy them despite the complete unoriginality and other flaws (seriously, the weapons are way oversided, Takanuva is white and silver, Vezok doesn't look anything like the original and can't hold his weapon right, almost all the weapons are silver, etc etc etc.). I honestly expected a totally different reaction from you guys - count me surprised, and rather disapointed. Needless to say, unless the canister sets are better (if there even are any this time around), Bionicle won't be getting any of my money next year. Long live Bara Magna 2009, crap you Bionicle Stars.
  5. Wonderful. Beats Gali Mistika by a mile - but then again, just about everything does. Still, awesome MOC, and for once I don't mind the fact that she doesn't have any melee weapons.
  6. Maybe it's fun to you, but it certainly isn't fun to the rest of us. And seriously, this seems more of a waste of time than anything - if you don't want real prototype pictures to be spread, then just don't bother uploading them to your brickshelf account in the first place. I'd think that a member who wants to be taken seriously would rather do that than purposely make people lose trust in him, but that's just me. Besides, that still doesn't explain why you uploaded that list of sets - that is a totally different case than leaked images, as it's far harder to tell whether set lists are fake or not when you don't have any evidence for or against them. Heck, some of us thought that list might actually be real, which goes to show how impossible it is to discern things like that. Honestly, Tilus, you can blame the reaction on gullibility all you want, but in the end we aren't the ones who are posting fake images and links for no purpose other than to have fun. Eurobricks is supposed to be a mature forum, and stuff like this smacks of immaturity. I don't claim to be the best example of maturity on this site - I've had my share of embarrasing and immature moments on here, especially in my first two years on the boards, but I think a lot of people will agree with me when I say that posting fake images and sets is not going to earn you respect on a site aimed primarily at AFOLS.
  7. A good bionicle MOC that uses puffin colors and Inika torso armor for feet? I approve.
  8. Well, I understand this a bit better now, but I still don't understand why you asked to be banned. If you wanted to leave to focus on family issues, you could have just logged off your account and not paid any attention to PMs or anything you got from other members. Asking to be banned always has felt to me like a rather dishonorable way to stop visiting a message board, as it makes newer members who don't know your story look at your posts questioningly. In fact, I myself was rather suspicious of what had happened, as I had no idea that the story behind your banning was not due to bad behavior. Then again, even if I had known, this whole "fake set list" issue still would make me question your standings as a member. This is the second time you have posted or uploaded something fake and claimed it was real, which smacks of a complete disregard for gaining the trust of other members. If you want us to believe you about other things, why do you do stuff like this? I undestand that some people post fake stuff as jokes, but the point is that you got everyone hyped up and discussing something that turned out to be false. This to me is worse than leaking information, as it does nothing to help the community and makes you look completely untrustable.
  9. I'd say it's easily one of the best webcomics out there, or at least one of the best I have read. I especially like the Starwars spin-off called Darths and Droids, which is a clever take on the Star Wars films that turns them into a grand role-playing adventure (plus, it actually made Jar-Jar likeable, which alone is a feat deserving of praise). Also, I'm happy that the humor generally is fairly tame compared to the humor of some webcomics, as it makes the comic acessible to just about anyone you could show it to while still being really funny.
  10. Like others, Makuta Teridax AKA The Makuta is one of my favorite villains, and is also one of the biggest reasons why I love the Bionicle storyline so much. While many other stories used to market toy lines generally have weak villians who rarely win and rarely succeed at everything, Makuta was allowed to win an ongoing battle after eight years and take over an entire universe, destroying all his brothers and exiling his rival in the process. Of course, in the end he will probably lose, but it's good to know that in the process he was allowed a generous measure of success that will hopefully make his downfall even more epic. Also, while many Batman fans generally praise the villians of BTAS over the villians of any other series, I personally am a big fan of a few of the villians from The Batman. While that show often struggled with many of its interpretations of classic Batman foes, in several cases it improved on the standards set by previous animated series. Riddler became extremely sinister and totally in control of his riddles, Clayface became very tragic and served as the Harvey-Dent/Two Face of that particular show, and Hugo Strange became a complex and maniuplative psychological threat that nearly tricked Batman into turning the entire city of Gotham into horrible monsters. These villians are some of the reasons why I enjoy the Batman despite it's large share of poor or mediocre episodes (particularly in the first season), and I'm glad it managed to get five seasons in a climate where many shows generally don't make it beyond two. On another note, I would also like to add Darth Vader to this list, but after the way the prequels tarnished his legacy and destroyed his character, I really can't view him the same way I used to.
  11. I know I'll probably be mauled for saying this, but I actually really enjoyed Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, unlike most people here. Many of the things people had issue with (Shia, the aliens, heavy use of CGI) did not bother me much at all, and I really enjoyed all the nods to the Indy legacy and some of the new characters. The only things I truly did not like were the nuclear fridge scene and the obviousness of the alien reveal (would have rather had the alien's true form to be mysterious and hidden), but overall I enjoyed it far more than all three of the Starwars Prequels combined, and would go see a sequel if they made one. That is, as long as the sequel isn't actually a Mutt Williams spinoff of the Indiana Jones series. For me, it's either they keep Harrison Ford as the lead, or not make a sequel at all. Mutt was fine as a sidekick, but I don't think even I could tollerate a whole movie centered on him.

    Happy B-Day

    Happy birthday to you all!
  13. Never in my life would I guess that we'd get a lego ostrich, even if we had gotten a Zoo theme in the last few years. Count me suprise - and very pleased. I just hope the sets are as good as the figures - because if so, than that will mean another near-flawless execution of a new 2010 licensed theme.
  14. Who cares about the eyes - that MOC is wonderful! You've really captured Sonic's design well in this creation, and the way you did the head is very clever.
  15. Like we're going to actually take your word on this, Tilus. A word of advice - don't try to confirm future set pictures after putting a fake list in your brickshelf account.
  16. You did not just say that! Antroz is easily the coolest of the Makuta in 2008, and IMO he is nearly perfect as canister sets go. All that he really needs is a piece of armor on his lower body and a fix for his wobbling neck, and he's utter awesomeness. Also, the Jutlin is not just "kinda cool" - it's the best evil mask we have gotten besides the original Mask of Shadows. It's one of my favorite masks by far, along with the original Miru and the Faxon.
  17. However, these images came from another site, and that same site had images of a bunch of other sets that looked extremely legitimate. I doubt people would take the time to fake all of the pictures we have seen so far, as you'd need both an extremely high amount of artistic ability and a lot of time. Also, the images we got of the "Bionicle Stars" are far different looking than the fakes we've gotten before. Remember in 2008 when tons of fakes came out and none of them looked any good? I don't really see how we can go from those to fairly clear images with very little evidence of photoshoping in only two years, especially since no one with any real talent would waste their time making fakes this good. Besides, just because they aren't from lego doesn't mean that they aren't true, Omi. While they still may be fakes, it's unrealistic to take either that or the opposite position when we truly have no official confirmination. Only a few people here seem to be reacting to them like they believe them 100%, while the others are approaching them with a healthy mixture of anticipation and skepticism. So stop calling everyone gullible, 'kay?
  18. I must say that, out of all the pictures we have seen so far, the Toy Story sets are the only ones that truly have impressed me. While most of the other stuff is just rehashes or not interesting to me, the Toy Story sets honestly really impressed me when I first saw them. The playsets themselves are excellent, with lots of bright colors and great pieces and structures. And the giant action figures just blew me away - I don't care that they have big pre-fabricated molds for the heads, but I do care that they are mostly system built and really resemble the characters well. Plus, you can't go wrong with a giant purple set with new pieces in that rare and prized color.
  19. Yeah, I know that sounded weird, but when I meant "born full size" I didn't mean in the natural human way. I'm kind of thinking more of a mystical energy creation way rather than natural birth - which BTW is something that I'm incorporating in my bionicle-style epic series.
  20. Great new 2010 picture. So far, this set and the Toy Story line are the only things from next year that have impressed me so far. I really like how they're branching out into a new location rather than just staying with the rock theme - and a subtheme based near the earth's core is fine with me. Plus, the vehicle looks great, and I love the mini lava monsters power miners in heat resistant gear. I can see myself buying this set when it comes out - as it looks like I won't be buying much else from 2010's winter lineup.
  21. This has been known about for nearly a month, Zourceman. But thanks anyway. Edit: darn, Rick beat me to the punch.
  22. This might be interesting - except that we don't know whether the inhabitants of Bara Magna grow over time, or whether they age in another way. Who says Glatorian aren't just born full size? And besides, that still doesn't solve the problem that TLC is using the Av-Matoran build for the third year in a row. Seriously, this is getting old - in 2008 it was already boring, in 2009 it was only made somewhat okay by the wealth of colors and elemental themes, but now it's just redundant and completely uninteresting.
  23. When I first saw the leaked names, I was rather skeptical about them, and I sure would sure like to be that way. However, the images we got look real, and I'm fairly convinced of their legitimacy. The problem is... they're absolute crap! Seriously, chibis? What are you thinking TLC - are you seriously going to throw out the storyline just to release a few new Av-Matoran sets with the masks and tools of old characters? This is rubbish, and I truly wish these images are fake.
  24. Signed, athought I don't really know how much it really will do to change the mind of a multibillion corporation. But let's try to keep positive, okay?
  25. Happy birthday!
