  1. Very awesome and distinctive! There have been some great stuff coming from Kaliphiln recently and this is no exception. Interesting idea, but one that suits your guild, I can well imagine Dwarfs working at this place. Nice work
  2. Great work! I have been enjoying the works coming from Kaliphiln and this is another great desert tower. It has a great arabian look and feel and fits your guild very well. Nice work
  3. Well done Andonii, like de gothia has said, its great to see that you have updated your tower and made improvements. Well done, a nice tower to keep an eye out for those Drow spys! Keep pushing yourself and don't be afraid to try out something new, our guild members will always be on hand to give you advice if you need it. Great work, keep it up Sir!
  4. This is beautiful de Gothia! I love the old cosy countryside feel you have achieved here. The building looks perfect, full of charm and blends so well into its surroundings. An excellent idea and pulled off extremely well. Its great to see that Avalonia are pushing forward in establishing and bringing our land to life. Well Done Sir
  5. Looking good sir! I like the added Avalonia colours built in and the interesting stone details. What's that in the background, a secret castle?
  6. Nice job, these look great and functional. It's good see others making siege weapons, as there were very few on EB. What can I say, Avalonia sets the trends and others follow Great work, just watch the EB siege weapons vids go viral, soon everyone will be watching them
  7. Yes, Zcerberus has made some important points. We are working on a capital plan for you to build, but we need to make it accessible for everyone. There will be a list of all the different parts and buildings for you to each choose and build, but it is up to you to choose something that you know you suits you and your collection. For example, there is no point choosing a gatehouse just for the sake of it, if you know you havn't got enough bricks to do your best effort. So when it comes to choosing a part to make, try and pick something you know you are comfortable doing and able to give your best. There will be a lot of variety, from Gate houses, towers, battlements, market stalls, shops of all kinds, Inns, houses of all kinds, Keeps, etc, so I hope you will all find something you are happy and confident building. Also, like Z has said, even though you can build each part your own way, remember that as its all one capital city, there will need to be a bit of cohesion so that each part does look kind of like it belongs with every other part. It would be a bit weird if there was a row of houses with a forestman's tree hideout stuck in the middle of them, so it will be a tough task. But if we work together and pull it off, then we will have a mighty capital that we can be proud of, thats unrivaled in the world of Historia. Even though this is not a main challenge, the point system will be up soon and a lot of these builds will be used to represent our guild and earn us points, which lead to prizes. Who knows what the prizes could be...fancy a spot of Jousting anyone?
  8. Well overdue and well deserved Z
  9. If you wish to build a Nocturnus moc, that is fine, but, you are representing Avalonia, so you will need to have some Avalonians in it. If it is a scene with Avalonians escaping a Nocturnus hideout or tower that is fine, but the Nocturnus building will count as a Nocturnus building, if you get what im saying. So feel free to create a scene happening in Nocturnia, but remember to make it relevant to Avalonia somehow, otherwise if everyone could build in every guild it would kind of make the whole guild idea pointless. Hope that clears things up for you
  10. 'Heavy Metal Horse' - Awesome!!! Built like a tank, a charge from a group of these would do serious damage! Nice one
  11. Well done to all members with your latest builds! Some great stuff coming through recently As you know, we have yet to build up our capital, or name it. So we will soon be doing just that. A plan is being produced by our master architects which will show the layout for the capital and have the list of each building and parts that make it up. All of you will then have the chance to choose a part to build, allowing everyone to take part in building our mighty capital, as it would be a bit too much for just one person! This is a chance to show how mighty Avalonia is, as our capital will be one of Avalonia's greatest landmarks. So lets make it stand out as the mightiest capital in Historica! I noticed someone mention that Avalonia should have buildings built from timber. A nice idea, but not easy to build for people with small collections. Avalonia is the 'classic' medieval land, with stone towers and half-timbered houses. The two can be combined for a very interesting effect, so rather than having a plain stone-built capital, our aim should be to give it a fantasy look with many half-timbered rooms and extentions jutting out from the walls and some interesting tower designs. This is a great picture of a mighty capital! As well as our capital, both the Mystic Isles and Enchanted forest will have castle/strongholds as well, which we can build at a later date. This particular picture looks like something that would be found in the Mystic Isles. It has that feel to it and would be a great scene to build. The final plan for our capital will be ready soon, then you will all be able to build which part you wish and however you want to build it
  12. Very nicely done! Nice to see more people using those medium blue plates, they work very well here. Great entry for your guild.
  13. Greetings guildsmen! Firstly I would like to welcome all new members to the guild. We are glad to have you with us, feel free to settle and build where ever you wish. I am really pleased with our new map! Excellent work both of you. A well thought out piece indeed and we are grateful that you have taken the time to do this and update it. Special titles will be rewarded to you both. I noticed a bit of unrest over posting of task mocs. Lets not let things get out of control here. As others have noted, the point of these tasks was something extra to help people practice and work on building mocs. The main challenges are what will get our guild points, so the tasks are to help people work on their building to prepare for the main challenges. There is plenty of time to do these in, so take as much time as you want. As you know, titles will lead to prizes. The members with the most titles will win prizes, and lots of titles will be available to earn throughout the project. Some titles will be given out for special things that members do. You may have noticed some members with a Knight title. As you may have noticed, Avalonia was loosely based on the King Arthur Legend, but only loosely as I didn't want any restrictions on what you can build. The Knight titles are basically Alias titles. Handed out to members for special deeds, effort and any mocs that have a similar feel to any of the Arthurian myths. Don't worry to much about earning these special titles, as you will all earn plenty along the way. The titles that should mean the most are the ones that are given out to those who score the highest in the main challenges. Things are quiet in Historica at the moment, guilds are at peace. This is the chance to build up our land. Our capital needs building, but because it is such a mighty capital, it needs to be planned and different parts assigned to each member to build. This will be coming soon, and each of you will be able to choose what part you would like to build. We will have the mightiest capital of all the lands! Time to get things started.
  14. Well done, this is an excellent build! Great work on the house, I love the many details you have added in, you have created a great effect. The house really looks old and full of character. The surrounding landscape is also nicely done and has so much to catch the eye. Really great work, Im very happy to know my guide has given you some inspiration! Keep up the great work DC
  15. One of the best and most beautiful creations I've seen! Pure excellence
  16. Next we are going to add a tower behind the mill. I will not show you how to build the stone part of the tower as I have already covered the techniques used to do it. The stone part is built the same way as the mill, with 1x1 round plates built up with a second wall of normal bricks behind them. So, I will explain the window technique. To start with, we will need a 2x6 dark gray plate with one row of tiles and one row of plates on top like so. Then we add two 1x4 half fence pieces. These wedge into the studs of the plate as shown in the picture below. We then connect some headlight bricks to the fence pieces with the top studs sicking outwards, 3 on each side. Now we add some more headlight bricks with a 1x1 brick stacked between them. We can then add some tiles which clip on to the headlight bricks. You can do them in gray to match the windows or you can use any other colour you want. Here I have used to shades of green. Then you add another 2x6 plate on top add add whatever details you wish. I have used some cheese wedges and another half fence piece. Here you can see the whole stone tower section with the windows in place. Like I said earlier, the tower itself is built using the same techniques as shown in the contruction of the water mill. As you can see in the next picture, I have used some brown tiles for the floor and added a ladder in the center. I have built up posts using dark brown tiles and 1x1 bricks with studs on either side to attach them. Next, we place white bricks between the posts, wit the top layer made up of 1x1 bricks with stud facing out. In the next picture you will see I have added dark green tooth plates to the white bricks and then place a layer of dark brown tiles over the top. I have also added some dark brown telescope pieces around the ladder in the middle and topped them off with tiles. In each corner I have built up some pillars which will support the roof. We then add a flat roof using dark brown plates topped off with some black plates. We now need to build the roof. We start off by laying out a triangle shape using wing plates. Then on the back we need to add some hinge bricks which will allow it to be attached to the tower. Then some tiles and grill tiles have been added to the front for extra effect. You will need to make four of these! Once you have made all four, you can then attach them to he roof. They will all fit flush to each other and there will be a 2x2 space left in the middle. In this space you will need to build up a pillar of 2x2 bricks to the top. At the top of the pillar you will need to place a 2x2 round plate/with handle all the way round. We then need to make 4 lengths of black 1x1 round stacks with a clip at the end, like in the picture below. These can then be clipped to the handle piece at the top and run down each corner like so. Now we have the finished tower! I have added a flag and some foliage around the tower. The tower can now be placed at the back behind the mill. It is attached the same way as the house earlier on in the guide, using tiles and jumper plates. The next step will be to build some more different houses and shops for the village, as well as more landscape, puddles, well, and gallows. Thanks for reading DC
  17. Now we have to place the house on the landscape, but rather than just plonk it anywhere, we are going to place it at an angle overlooking a small pond. First we need to build the pond. The SNOT technique works well for this as its still water. I have used dark green as it gives a nice murky pond water effect. As you can see in the picture below, I have built a shape out of dark green bricks and then surrounded it in where I can with black bricks. This will keep it locked into place. You may also notice some half technic pins sticking up in the pond, these are merely to attach some plant pieces to. Next, I have started to add a combination of brown plates and dark gray slopes. This is done the same way as before. Once the rocks and mud have been built up, then we will need to connect the house. First you will need to lay the house roughly in position where you want it. Once you are happy with the angle of the house, you will then need to attach a jumper plate to one of the corners. Then you will need to mark the area of the house with tiles. As you can see in the picture below, I have used dark gray tiles around the rocks and green tiles for the rest. Now we can place the house on the tiles where it will sit at an angle. Remember to use jumper plates on a few of the corners where you can. This will hold the house in position. Now, at the far end of the pond I have added a small wooden platform which acts as a sort of bridge where the path passes over the end of the pond. This is simply done using headligt bricks on their side and clipping 1x2 tiles across. Then adding plates and tiles running across the top. In this picture you can see the finished platform/bridge. I have only pressed down one end of each tile on the bridge. This gives an old warped effect. The trick is to build up the rocks and landscape around the platform so it looks like it really is built into the land. Now the pond is finished. You can then add foliage where you want to. I have added quite a few bulrushes as they are commonly found in ponds. These are made using brown and tan 1x1 round plates. Building the green landscape should be pretty simple now as I have covered it a few times already earlier in the guide. So in these pictures you can see I have built up the green land around the pond. Next, we are going to build a small outhouse/storage area next to the house. We start off by laying some dark gray plates as the foundation. Next we add some tiles for the path and start building some of the walls using 1x1 round plates. Keep building up the walls to a height of about 5 plates. You can add a few 1x1 brown plates for mud and some tan plates for straw. I have also added a box, a bucket and some 1x4 brown pole pieces clipped to the sides which make good places for the villagers to tie their horses to. Now we need to make some supports for a small roof. To do this I have used 4 1x1 round cone pieces. In these I have put a 1x4 pole piece. To give the roof a slight slope, I haven't inserted the two poles at the back all the way in. They stick up higher than the front two. Now we need to make the roof. This is very simple, just a 6x8 plate with tiles attached on top. I have only attached the tiles lightly, so they give an uneven and old warped effect. Place the roof on top of the pole pieces. The poles should inline with the gaps underneath the roof. It wont be attached, but it will lock into place and only fall off if you turn the whole moc upside down! In these pictures you can see the completed storage building. I have also added some more string fencing around. This is done the same way as I covered before. From these pictures it is clear that something needs to be placed at the back behind the mill. Something to give some depth and background. So I have decided to add a tower which will serve as a watch tower. I will cover that in the next section. Stay tuned! DC
  18. Its true, LOTR is coming, the owner of my local newsagent told me, and I also read it on the back of a Kellogs Cornflake box In all seriousness it probably will happen, as Lego havn't yet really had a castle themed Lisence. Best to wait and hear it from Lego themselves though. Speculation is fine, if anyone gets hold of secret set images it would be best if you didn't post them till Lego makes an official announcement, as Lego try's hard to stop leaked images and are not happy with the amount of leaked stuff that gets posted here. It doesn't do relations with the site and Lego any good, to the point where they may not let us in on posting official announcements. Besides, its better to be surprised by a new wave rather than know everything months before hand.
  19. Lots of great stuff from mitgardia! The guild looks strong, with so many great builders, it looks like you are holding all the aces. It will be hard to compete
  20. Oh dear, that's really bad The future that is, how can people let things get so bad This is a great piece of work, every stage has been well thought out and there are some great techniques on display. The church looks excellent and so does the landscape, but my favorite part has to be the scaffolding, this really caught my eye and is a great detail. Well done, this is excellent
  21. Well done guildsmen! You all do your guild proud and we are well on the way to creating the mightiest land! Our army and siege weapons are unrivaled throughout Historia, and so shall be our land. On this note, I think some free-build challenges are in order. This is your land guildsmen, so anything you think it may need, feel free to build it! Royal stables? where are our famous Dragon Flight steeds kept? Windmills, Forges, Inn's, etc. Anything you think our land needs. It would be nice to see things that the other guilds have not yet thought of. Remember, you don't need to rush. Take your time and work on some great ideas that will sit proud in our land. Offer accepted. We welcome King Lionus and his army to our land and are very grateful for his offer. See it done Nicely done de gothia. The title is yours Great work Niku, this is indeed a mighty siege tower. Alongside our other siege weapons it makes us an unstoppable force! A title is yours. Well done sir! These look well presented and Avalonia is proud to have them as warriors. Excellent work on these.
  22. Excellent work Z! These are very impressive and the mantlets are a great idea. Great to see that Avalonia is well prepared for anything. Keep up the good work
  23. Looks great Captain! Really love the old worn/ruined look that you have achieved I've always believed that pirate moccers make great castle moccers and it seems a lot of our Avalonian members are proving that. Well done, hope to see more from you
  24. Great work Guildsmen! Avalonia just grows mightier everyday! Sounds good, I look forward to seeing this. They look excellent! Deadly and well organized. Light cavalry are ideal for riding round the enemies flanks and surprising them. I do apologize for the treatment of one of your men. As you are well aware, we have always had a good understanding with Kaliphiln and do not wish any unrest to come between our lands. However, these are uncertain times, and my men were just acting on their natural instincts. While I am sorry for the treatment of your man, I cannot fault my men as they are just doing their jobs, and very well it seems. Fear not, your man will be set free and escorted safely back to Kaliphiln with food and water. Artorious A nice well put together scene de gothia. Great alternative to a joust. Well done.
  25. This is a really great moc! Has a very different look to it which gives it its charm. Great techniques with the way the walls are built. Nice one
