i was thinking abou tthe same thing, two of those wheels housing on each side, and some traditionnal steam train rods with a piston, and some technic wheels to make it steampunk ;) i'll see if possibly i could link the mechanics to the weels, would be great to see it moving :D Thanks for the answer, helped me a lot

hey guys i need your help ! as you've read, i want this train to be sort of floating on a magnetic field or sumthin like that, but that means that there are no wheels, so no real way of propeling with rails. So here's my question: how do you think i can propel this train ? as i don't want classical propelers cause it will not fit the design, should oi use turbines or things like that ? hi, here's a little WIP of my loco, it's for sure not finished at all, but the basic shapes are done, now i need to add some .... well a lot of mechanics and tubing and other things on the exterior, add the front cow catcher, some more mechanics and a fully detailed interior and here's a pic showing the train and a minifg on the side, like that you'll see the scale of this quite big train :D as you see with his high hat the minifig will still be abble to stand up in the coach See ya !

it's this f****n part, the 246226 facet brick 3x3x1, i can't find it, bricklink tells me no item found ... Oups, this is just the code that's false, when i tipe facet brick i can find it ;)

thx for your comments ;) i really appreciate that, after such a long dark age (8 years), finding a new way of approching legos is such a great thing ! i've been counting and packing all the lego bricks i have at my mom house today, but i'll have to buy , well a lot more to build them yeah it's big, i agree, but i've to admit i love big things, and as i'm still a kid in my head, when i was 10 i would have loved to have such a big build in my hands and spend a week to build it. And for me, as seen is films such as wild wild west, steampunk is a kinda dreamed thing, like what you would see in your early-20th-century-man mind, always bigger and bigger, and faster :D it have 4 wheels at each end, but i'll take your advice and add two more axles at each end, so it'll be a 16 wheeler per coach i've picked small wheels cause the big deal of this all moc is to hide those weels, as the entire train was floating on some magnets or other thing like that, so big wheels would have been harder to hide, but the cheat is that this train is for display, at least now in my mind, i don't want to motorize it but more like some static display with a steampunk train station and train repare space, so no need to move it or just a bit ;) I've found quite all the bricks, but the tricky ones are the round shaped for the corners, they are no more available on pick a brick, but i will find them for sure Yeah, in my mind world there are biiiiig straight lines, no obstacles, and this train would be my favorite way of traveling across a country, with a suit, high hat, and everything steampunk-way-of-life :D Once again thanks, it just give me motivation to buy more and more bricks and build this IRL

hi all ! here's a new one for the train Took the wheelbase of my coaches, shortened it by a 1/3, keepin the same design way for the exterior, but the interior is a lot more rough and spartiat, there's only some tools, a compiter and a phone to talk with those in the loco, no wooden floor a coal container take place on one side, is drains automatically the coal to the locomotive, and on the other side there are 4 water barrels, linked to deliver more water to loco or braking system. As the others, roofs is openable as the doors are, and it has two loading gates openable on sides, it counts 1473parts thx for watching, comments welcome EDIT: changed a bit the design of the brake-mechanic housing, and hide more the wheels

thx ! well it's 20 wide and 54 long counting the pins for assembling coaches together ;) so it's big, really big The restaurant coach is "only" 1916 parts composed ;)

well infact, as i want all my coaches to have the same exterior design, i've just designed a new interior for the restaurant coach So finished a lot faster than the first, here it is: so the details: a bar with 2 beer serving device, 2 beer barrels, a lot of glasses, bottles and so on, 3 tables for 2 minifigs, and a place to have a drink on the other side, not so many work on this one, but i find the interior really cool thx for watching !

Hi all As i don't have enough money to build all i want, i keep building on LDD to spend some time, i've worked on it 3 days This will be my first minifig scaled creation, a full steampunkn train My first part is the travelers coach, it fits 16 seated minifigs, and some more standing up It has a lot of machinery on the sides and the roof, some steam tankers for the brakes, and the wheels/rails are hidden under by the side machinery, as i wanted it to be "floating" it is composed by 2175 parts, so it's quite a big build, but i like challenges ;) roof is openables to place minifigs inside, and the side doors are openable too Here are the pics, thx for watching ! comments are welcomed ! i'll update the post with the rest of the train when they'll be done !

here's a new one, based on the roadster wheelbase i wanted to try something different, with a racer style, so no channeling, no lowering, no top chop, nothing custom the engine is a prepared inline 6 with 2 carbs, free exhaust, the interior uses two basic seats, no paint or doors interior, gas tank in the openable trunk it has the same scale as the rest of my models, and i'll try to build it soon Thx for watching, all comments are welcome

yeah, all my models have non turnable wheels, they are for display only thx, i love the vw bus in real life, and i think i'm gonna do it on a larger scale as it's not the same sclae as all my other models, it's a bit smaller, so i'll not be abble to display it with rest and it's embarassing I'de like to find this lego bos in france, but it's not sold anymore and you can't find it under 150e ...

So here are my creations on LDD, i'll put them all in this topic as it will be more clear for everyone So lets begin with the first, it's based on the 10220 lego vw bus, i've found the instructions on the internet, build it on LDD and then customised it: Image Image Image so here's the modification list: lowered frame, chanelled body, pick up body, custom interior, shortened front and rear end, custom flat4: 2 twinbodies carburators, new exhaust and new radiator next are free buildings, not based on existing legos first one is my firts attempt, a barnfind 30's car with no interior, different color parts like it's been restored, in line 4 cylinders, rust like body Image Image Image next one is my first "successful" trial, a full custom pick up, it has an injected v8 engine, lowered frame, big wheels, free exhaust, and i've managed to build the entire drive train Image Image Image Image here's a hot rod, inspired by the 29 ford roadster, it has a blown v8, free exhaust, full frame with "z" rear section, openable trunk with gasoline tank, openable suicide doors and full interior Image Image Image Image Image here is now a volksrod, same scale as the pick up and hot rod, it has custom frame, realistic front end ( sway a way), custom engine flat4 with 2 carbs, full flow system, free exhaust, additionnal radiator, custom body fenderless and top chopped, channeled, interior with 2 tones Image Image Image Image Image Image Image Image the biggest issue was the front section, it has complicated shapes and i've spent 3 hours to do it great Thx for watching, all these models will be build in real bricks soon, first will be the pick up as i already have all the parts, i'll only have to buy the whees and some others parts

hi all ! my name's romain, i'm from france and i'm 23 I've been playing legos since i'm 3 or 4 years old, and now i got quite a big collection, with some cool parts like the space police 1 all set, lego aquazone and aquasharks full set, and some others great pieces. I've stopped playin legos late, like 16 or 17, and those late years i was building things with my sisters like towns and so on Now i wanna start playin again, but not like when i was a kid, more like a challenging thing like building things with no instructions, and with a lot of parts To help me, i've downloaded LDD, and i've already done 4 sets i'm gonna build, i'll show ya them in the LDD section not so many other things to say, in real life i'm a cad designer on catia v5 and tig welder on stainless steel, and i do some old furniture restoration with friends, and i help friens of mine making cool bikes What else ? well nothing, except i'm a big kid traped in a world of adults, i'm tattooed, pierced a lot, and i like deathcore and hardcore musique, i'm a singer in a band and a bass player see ya !
