And what a beautiful pic that one is :] Thanx! Btw, I know your _real_ name mate, but I guess it doesn't come as a surprise to you that I'm going to need some time before I get used to calling you Colin instead of Pedro Cuahchic :D

Aaaaaaaaand barry here has left the building, apparently.
-
My thoughts exactly!! Well, KanalK1, will you be our personal Santa?

I'd be very grateful if someone could please refer me to a store in London where one could obtain exclusive sets such as the Green Grocer, Emerald Night, etc. Actually, which are the GOOD places one must visit if they want to find LEGO in London? I may be heading that way in a couple of weeks. Thanks in advance! Oh, and my other query regarding good LEGO stores in Brussels is still on... any information will be very much appreciated.

Wow mate, that's a killer bike you got there!!! I've been planning on getting my hands on a Kawasaki ZXR 400 as a first bike for years now, I still haven't been quite able to save up. Guess that's because I suck at saving money :D Anyway, my dream ride would be the Triumph Daytona 675: Gorgeous motorcycle, top-notch performance. I'd love to have that parked alongside a nice coupe such as, for example, the VW Scirocco 2.0 TFSI, in my garage. All in due time tho

Thanks mate! Cheers indeed ;]

Musaka / moussaka - however you'd call it, I'd kill for a slice right now! Balkan cuisine ftw!!!!!! Drooling already?

The skin! The skin! Where's the skin! Omg! The skin! Aaaaaaaaaaah!!! We need a skin! ASAP! It's an absolute emergency! SKIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIN!!! Give us your best shot, Hinck... We can take ANYTHING!!! /rant over/ Don't know what's gotten into me. Must be all the energy and positive /if overcharged :D/ vibes flowing around from fellow forum members... Either that, or I've been watching too much South Park.

barry, dude, I guess you already know that, but "10-4" = "message received", "acknowledged". Why do you keep using it as a sign-out catch phrase!? Anyway, this set looks real nice, but at 70EU it would be WAY too overpriced. However, since it is probably going to be a "hard to get" item anyway, I guess that shouldn't be a problem. Collectors' sets usually command steep prices, so this should be no exception.

Didn't "dark ages" actually refer to adult fans who'd had a long period of not even touching LEGO? Anyway, mine lasted for ~10 years. Asya is the one who helped me come out of those a year or so ago and we've been building stuff ever since. I don't think LEGO would be half as much fun if I was building all alone, even though I've built some of our MOCs (bikes & cars) by myself. It's sharing a hobby with the idea of setting up our town which really made it fun once again for me. Otherwise, I might have taken the old bricks out some day, but I doubt if I would have had the desire to clean them all up and rearrange them, let alone start buying new ones.

Not at all mate! It is actually great to see another Florist MOC, besides there's room for any and all ideas here The flower buds-on-bushes thing is a wonderful idea... I might consider stealing it from you ;] P.S.: Can't wait to see this one next to the canal you're planning!
-
Oh my god! Can't believe it! You totally beat us to it :] Just took the first preliminary shots of our finally finished Florist, however they're not good enough for a presentation... Imagine my surprise, logging in to see a Florist MOC!!! Lol :] Great minds, I guess! Anyway, you've done some very nice work on the interior there... from personal experience I can say that furnishing a MOC is half the fun of building it, I'm sure you'll agree :) Love the use of the round plates in the columns too!
-
8154, the Brick Street Customs. Got it as a present, actually. I do hope its price had been reduced since it looked a bit too expensive for such a set... Will get around to building it later on this week, I guess. Once our current MOC is 100% done.

I just realized I hadn't posted my mug here... Fortunately, we come together as a duo pack with Asya, so at least there is one nice thing to look at Never mind our hairstyles, we've both just come out of the water - that's last summer @ the Bulgarian seaside. Btw - Pedro, why aren't there any pics of your fiancée? Or do you prefer for her to remain just a sigfig in our minds? Go on and show your better half mate

No, I don't think they look well side by side, there's a difference in their design that's way too huge. However, I LOVE both themes. I don't own any Modular Town buildings, mostly because their price is a bit too steep. But surely, in time, I will also buy up all of those sets as well. On the other side, classic style City sets are a fun and simple build which offers all you'd need at an affordable price. Since I haven't kept any one of my classic style sets in their original state and don't plan on rebuliding & displaying them, I do believe those are a priceless source of city-themed parts. Furthermore, there are sets such as the Service Station which are more or less crucial for any future MOC Gas station - so in that sense classic city structures also provide a foundation you really can't do without. I mean, just like you wouldn't want your city to be made up only of semi-realistic police stations, fire stations and construction sites, you wouldn't want it to feature exclusively huge gaudy structures such as the Modular Town buildings either, now would you? All in all, both have their place under the sun - and in our house, for that matter! However, seeing as we would rather build our OWN town with as few "original" buildings as possible (preferably, none), I see both as a good source of bricks and ideas - in the first case both are bigger, better and more exclusive - but on the other hand, with the classic city sets those bricks and ideas come at a very reasonable price, so that you could always purchase more of the ones you find particularly useful. On a sidenote: the florist we had announced for the Town Community Build (which seems to have all but died down) is "somewhere in the middle" between Modular and Classic buildings... well, actually it's quite a bit more on the "modular" side, but I do believe that's the better option if one plans to build their own town plan, like we do. Anyway, what I mean to say is that every builder is able to find their own level at which they're satisfied with the outcome, and that level shouldn't necessary be one of those two options.

I did not, but I would not say that Massa was the best driver during those two seasons. Ferrari's car was one of the best ones - that one is for sure. But I do not see Massa as having what it takes to be a deserving world champion. The team's strategy was appalling and really ruined Kimmi's race and Massa's qualification, but it is in such times when really good drivers show what they're capable of. Alonso did have a very good race, especially bearing in mind the amount of fuel his Renault was filled up with. But I fail to see the problem with rain - it makes for a much more thrilling race than the usual ?? laps, 2/3 pit stops, c'est tout. And by "dirt" I mean all the negativity that Hamilton has been surrounded by - it's all aimed at McLaren after the blueprint scandal and I must admit it is pretty much deserved. However, I can't see why this young talented driver should always be the one shouldering all the blame. British newspapers see this as a wonderful opportunity to stab him in the back, but that "lying to stewards" thing was absolutely blown out of proportion. First of all, FIA themselves are not 100% clear on what the rules are in such a case - Trulli left the track and was passed by Hamilton, should he then have taken his place back or not?! Obviously, McLaren's Dave Ryan was also pretty much in dark and we can only speculate whether it was indeed his aim to get Jarno Trulli punished by telling Hamilton to let Trulli pass him, or he was rather trying to avoid getting Lewis penalised for overtaking Trulli. In any case, it was a direct order from the team and if you're given such orders, you comply with them and do as told. Reporting false statements to the stewards was bad and naturally frowned upon - but turning his back on the team and saying "Meh, I wanted to do the right thing, but they made me do something else and then lie to you." would have been even worse. Lewis got stuck in a bad situation and he chose the lesser of two evils, regardless of what people might say. In short, give the boy a break. He really is a top notch driver and Formula 1 is a better competition for having more of these lads. McLaren however need to clean up their act and straighten up; but the same applies to FIA and their interpretation of rules & regulations as well. As to the cars - what you say about McLaren is obviously true for Ferrari as well, the problem is that I don't see any will to fight in Massa or Kovalainen's driving.
-
His starting position was 12. and under the given circumstances (rev limiter defecting etc.) I thought he did a great job. In Melbourne he started 18. and finished fourth before being stripped of it. Bearing in mind how AWFUL McLaren's car is looking this year and how apparent their problems with the chassis are, his driving is simply wonderful and a proper response to all the dirt that's constantly being thrown at him.
-
Great race for Jenson Button! Same applies to Lewis Hamilton who drove wonderfully despite the apparent problems of this season's McLaren car. That's really the only way to make all his critics shut up. On a sidenote: Felipe, baby, stay calm! Yet another race where it becomes apparent that Massa does not live up to the high expectations. Put Vettel or Glock in that Ferrari seat, either of them would be a revelation, but Massa is just a waste of a good car - much like Heiki...
-
Nice tractor, I'm sure your pal will love it as well! You're obviously a very good Model Team builder ;) I've looked through your other creations on brickshelf as well and that roof tile concept you tried out caught my eye. Did you actually build it in real bricks? Could you post some more pics from different angles?

HUGE price hike on Town Plan, Green Grocer, Others?
MetroiD replied to brickzone's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Sorry for misleading you mate :( -
2 am in my corner of the world, so I guess it comes as no surprise that I've loaded my playlist with Miles Davis... Still wondering whether to go see Dimitri From Paris at a local club next Saturday, but knowing how PACKED it would be and that I couldn't book a table, I think I'll pass...
-
It really looks like we'll be in for quite a show tomorrow! I've always enjoyed Sepang and now that I know that I will witness such duels as Vettel vs Hamilton at the back or Jarno vs Jensen at the (!!!) head of the starting grid, I just can't wait for it! Go Jenson, make it 3 F1 wins! And I DO hope Lewis manages to fight back once again...

HUGE price hike on Town Plan, Green Grocer, Others?
MetroiD replied to brickzone's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Just checked the prices on Amazon.de. Wow, was I in for a surprise... Cafe Corner and Green Grocer prices have not been altered, but Town Plan has been reduced by 40 EUR to the amazing price of 109 EUR! Bargain of the month!!! I'm pretty sure they ship to the UK as well, so if anyone wants to get that set, make sure you order it straight from amazon.de while they still have it at THAT price!!! Such a pity that Amazon won't ship LEGO to Bulgaria I just can't be arsed into paying 230 EUR for it at the local prices (that is, IF they've still got it at the local distributor's warehouse...) Edit: As brickzone has pointed out, unfortunately amazon.de doesn't ship to Ireland either :( -
Exclusive Train 10194 Emerald Night (Exclusive 2009)
MetroiD replied to der seb's topic in LEGO Train Tech
There is SO MUCH valuable information in this thread that does not necessarily relate exclusively to 10194 Emerald Night... I wonder if an admin could please separate the PF-related posts in another thread, since that would make it much more readily accessible for future reference, instead of having to dig through 30-odd pages of random info. Thanks!- 559 replies

This is simply perfect. MOCs such as this one are a real inspiration to anyone who hasn't decided on how wide their cars and trucks should be (such as myself)... Your design solutions are very crafty & quite unique, I absolutely love studying them and I guess I might even copy a few of those :]]] I do hope to see this truck built out of actual bricks, but I have to congratulate you on being able to build such a marvellous model - I personally couldn't for the life of me build something THIS complicated using only digital bricks :]
