Thanks a lot for the clarification on those, that means I won't have to wait to see what the other upcoming radii would be and I can just go ahead and place my order in May once R56 comes out. A question that was raised by a fellow LUG member was whether the metal rails' long-term effect on the plastic train wheels had been tested / verified yet? His concern was that the rails' hardness might contribute to wearing out the plastic, could you please give us any information on that? Thanks in advance.

Thanks for that lefty, that's also what I was driving at. Guys who are too open / frank often tend to be perceived as being rude; and I just see that as a difference of character and opinions, same as the whole accuracy discussion we've got going on here. I understand that I might also have come across a bit rude when voicing my opinions on fallenangel's X-Wing but I actually think he didn't take it too hard and instead focused on continuing his work in order to give us a complete MOC, which was my main criticism anyway. I don't think it was the fact that anyone was nitpicking mate, it was perhaps rather the tone - but, once again, as has been pointed out on multiple occasions recently - you can't judge a person by their 'tone' on the Internet, so the best solution is for all of us to take everything with a pinch of salt. I'm not taking sides here, merely observing and trying to draw valid conclusions for the entire community, and I think the above applies to us all Amen to that. But we really need that hug emoticon. Perhaps that care bear connection wouldn't be a bad thing to consider?

I've been checking out this thread regularly over the last few days, and despite the negative tone at times (let's admit it, sparks have flied, so what, we're all grown men, even if we fight over plastic models!), I must say that I find it a most interesting read. Also, I think it is one which can spur many other discussions including but not limited to: * How do you actually define good, proper, well-founded criticism? * Are comments in the line of "Awesome, keep up the good work!" encouraging, helpful, ego-stimulating or useless in an AFOL community? * Should strong personal views come first when rating / commenting / criticising MOCs or should one follow the "nice", albeit stereotypical fashion of responding? * Do builders actually want real criticism when they post their MOCs? * Can a person's tone when they present their MOC suggest how far one could go with criticism before it ticks the other person off? All of that, and a bunch of rather enjoyable witty responses. In a thread which started off with the sole purpose of discussing MOC accuracy. Not bad, I'd say! I'm all for proper, adult discussion and I think that each and every one of the AFOLs who've posted in this thread so far have revealed some very valuable aspect pertaining to one or all of the above questions. Keep it up, honest and straightforward discussion is the driving force of this whole place! And sorry for being off-topic...

And here I was, thinking you were actually going along with it. Actually, I admit I still think you played that rather well...

Falling for what? It's a public secret down at the Town forum!

Big Cam, are you sure? Try that again ;) P.S.: Aw, you edited your post!

Bye bye Hello Kitty... but isn't it time to say bye-bye to wintertime as well?
-
Expect a lot of that now mate. Seriously guys, are you absolutely sure there aren't some vultures among us?
-
Yes we are. Don't you know that Rick actually dedicated his to rum?
-
I just don't understand where you guys see all those sceptical people?!

It's great to hear you've considered so many aspects. At just below 16 USD though, I don't really think postage is expensive, especially compared to what other shops charge for overseas postage. Can't wait for the May additions...

I'm not really sure about your weapons. I think they need more ooomph. Have you considered using flick missiles? P.S.: How swooshable is it? Could you upload a video?
-
So... no rum for 100 blogs?

Brickster mate, are you really sure you want that? Consider the consequences first... An All Pink Bricks contest sounds like a proper way to introduce the new era. I'd need to stock up on pink pieces first though. Heard JimButcher was giving away his LEGO, so I might try and snatch all things pink from him...

LifeLites Releases Self-contained LULs
MetroiD replied to Brickdoctor's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
Did you mean to say that they're lully? -
Thanks, but mine is a MOC tram and my worries are associated rather with its specific design in terms of height and close coupling, not the general issue of integrating the rail in the layout. It's precisely because of that that curve radius is a bit of an issue, but not something that can't be fixed. Haven't actually posted the MOC itself yet since I'm still waiting for parts to arrive, but gambort surely knows what I'm talking about.
-
I'll be placing an order for rails without sleepers which I'll then be using for my tram line - integrated straight on the sides of tiled-up street baseplates (1 plate + 1 tile should correspond to the height of the rail without sleepers). That's precisely why I'd like to wait and see how those new curves will look. On the one hand, I appreciate the wider radius since the tram I'm building will definitely be able to negotiate that much more easily than the current standard 9V curves, but on the other hand I'm worried if that wouldn't make curves too big for a tram line... Have to wait and see, I guess. @roamingstudio: Shouldn't the track without sleepers be perfectly usable for all kinds of different gauges?

But they might just have invented new batteries! -
A well-played campaign to hype us all up and the product looks as though it's set to deliver. Great work there guys, I'll definitely be placing an order once I see the new curve radii. Am I the only one who thinks that this development naturally leads to the need for new 9V motors? P.S.: @Gareth: Yes, 9V did have crossed tracks, although they were pretty rare.

Double rainbow all the way, I presume...
