Heroica RPG - Quest #48: Death's Homecoming
Dannylonglegs replied to Endgame's topic in The Heroica Archive
"You made the right choice, Galen." Spoke Sylph softly. "He would have humanity wiped off the face of the earth, all of nature bent to his tyrannical will.... That cannot happen. We must heal the world, not seek dominion over it." Sylph took his Smelling Salts and Nostrum, reluctantly, but decidedly. -

The two look at each other wide-eyed, but amused. "Umm." started the cape-less one. "Why, I could ask you lot the same question, I could." He began, with a somewhat amused tone to his voice. "But that would be rude. I am a humble servant of the church. My mate and I are simply waiting here on Father Caine's orders. He wants to do some shopping, but the streets are dangerous nowadays. People are arming themselves for no good reasons. He wants the company of friends. 'Such a kind man, Father Caine is. He's just finishing up his Church duties now. He won't be long I think. Was there something we can help you with?" -
Heroica RPG - Quest #62: Insider Trading

The Heroes, having decided on stealth over bluff, decided to enter the church through the back-door that Dreyrugr assumed was there. The party took to the ally, fearing that they'd soon be out of time to stop whatever plot was brewing. When the party arrived at the corridor in the alley that lead to the church's back door, they were surprised to see that they were not alone. Waiting by the steps at the back-door to the church, loitered two were-ravens, clad in black cloth and belts, and quite little else apart from some strange metal shoulder-pad and breast-plate. The two were chatting intently with their high-pitched hard to understand voices. One, who wore a cape, held an odd-looking scepter. The other did not appear to be carrying any weapons. "Oh, Hello." The two said at the same exact time, once they noticed the party. -
Sylph may try to kill you for this. I won't lie. Oh, and 62ers, sorry for the Delay, I'll have an update up before thirty minutes from now. ~Insectoid Aristocrat

"Hmm...." Grumbled Sylph, deeply, sorrowfully. "You have made your choice. I've known your people to be of great integrity, strength, and love of nature.... It's a pity you do not share such inner-strength. You will fight against us? So be it. May Sylvania be merciful and allow you your life. I know she's more merciful than I." -
Yes, He and I are not so alike after-all. Well... At least we're on different sides of our similarities. ~Insectoid Aristocrat

"No, I don't want to change your mind." Spoke up the Druid. "I don't care what you think of me, my cause, my place in the world... I don't care, because you are part of that which I am sworn to destroy. You are a foul blight on Nature. You are, and have been from the moment a human breathed a cruel mockery of life into your cold husk from a spell in a stone building erected on the dead earth he broke, a desecration. You offer my men nothing but taint. You are spreading the plague that must be stopped. You are the sickness.... I.... I am a healer." His voice rang of ancient defiance and ruthless power. "And even now, after all these years, I have no dead loved ones. You cannot infect me." -
You monster! To be fair, allot of why we only died a few times is because if damage control. If we hadn't been smart about it, we'd have all died. ~Insectoid Aristocrat

Heroica RPG - Quest #62: Insider Trading

Sorry for the fright. I imagine the mob boss talks rather slowly, and that the conversation was ripe with heavy/awkward pauses. Also, you basically got a tour of Jaba's palace. It's rather slow-going on a crowded cliff-front filled with drugged-up were-ravens, if you get my drift. But yes, don't be worried that you'll lose the Quest simply because it's now 3. I'd update you more frequently on the time, but I think that'd just be annoying (and I forget.) You can be worried in-character, but I'm not a mean QM, and I won't screw you over without warning you fairly. (Well, not too mean. Actions do have Reactions, but I'll at-least make them actions and not something passive, like the passing of time that you have no effect on. If you have any more questions about the passing of time and its effect on the results you'v/ll experience, I'll be glad to answer them when the Quest is over . ) -

Well, chalk that up to the in-game time it takes for things to get done. it's about a 30-45 minute walk from one side of the city to the other, throw in conversation and combat, you started in the morning, arrived in the bar, received your assignment and you fought Marty and met the Mob and now you're here. The Day progresses based on the decisions you've all made, and less the amount of time it took IRL for said actions to be posted. Hence the me crossing off that dumb thing I said about combat not taking time. It takes time, but very little. Maybe about 5+ minutes in-universe depending on the banter, IMO, as opposed to the occasional days it can take IRL. (The fight with Marty and Co was likely about 5-10 minutes with his somewhat-subsequent insults and bullying and your responses taking up another chunk of time.) Therefore, it's somewhat arbitrary. The fact that it turned out to match a real-world time system in a way (somewhat) is mostly cooincidental. -
Devious? You think I'm devious? Good sir, you flatter me.

Oh, you noticed the clock? Wonderful. I will say though, the clock does not tick during combat. It's a little more arbitrary than Vash believes, And don't worry, you don't lose if the clock strikes 4. You'll find out what happens when the time comes. -

Peering down the Alley, Dreyrugr could see that it lead to an evident dead-end at the wall which separated the district from the Peasant's district. Several doors opened to it though, those of the two, joined buildings adjacent to the Church, and apparently, the back-door to the church itself (he couldn't be quite sure from just a look though, as the entrance to the Church he believed was there was hidden from view by the building.) -

From the smell, he could determine that there was indeed some were-raven blood around. The city was somewhat famous for its large population of were-ravens, though. -

No worries, I just don't want to leave the party behind. You're welcome to take as long as you like to post. The Party made their way to the Church district. On their way, they bumped into Dice again, exiting the Mage district, and his companion Yoro. They didn't stop to talk however. They actually seemed rather surprised (if not afraid) to see the party, and attempt to avoid eye-contact. They were gone before the party could take action on it. Dismissing the event, they proceeded to the Church district. Therein they scouted for the People's Church. It was not hard to find, particularly with Nessa's compass. It was the closest Church to the Peasant's District, among the homes of the poorer clergymen. The Party stood outside the Church, noting the narrow alley beside the main structure. The rain was drizzling and it was just past 3 o clock. How would the Party like to proceed? -

Sylph remained silent for a minute after hearing the Regret's next chapter. "Magic. Unnatural magic such as this." The masked figure spoke in a heavy, cold voice. He started to say something and then stopped, near-anger in his voice. "You and I are nothing alike. How many times did you split your ether-made soul in twain? Was it just the once, or more? It only figures that..." he trailed off from his tirade. He wasn't about to speak his mind after so long for so little an offence. Why did he feel compelled to converse with this ether-born monstrosity as if they were equals? No. He took a step back from the mad Progg. "My condolences for your loss." spoke the druid, distantly. "It would appear, however, that your motivation in seeking the destruction of humanity lies not in revenge, as was the case in your misguided nephew, Eidolon, but rather in self-loathing. A far more worthy emotion, I myself confess. Self-Loathing... and regret. Yes, you wield god-like power. Yes, you will likely live forever. But you shall wield and live alone. Not just alone, though, but empty. I was right before, then. You do have a hollow crevasse within yourself." The druid grunted a hmph in what might have been empathy... or pity. "So this is what you brought us here to discover: the truth behind the Progg race and yourself? It is a truly tragic tale. And I wasn't sarcastic earlier when I remarked that Fate is cruel. I agree with you there. There is much sadness in this cold air." -

OoC: Well, This does seem like a decision point. Dreyrugr cannot participate during weekends, but it'd be nice if Amorith or Drake spoke up. If no one else speaks up, I'll update later tonight or tomorrow morning. -

"Ah." noted Sylph, not in the same voice, though, but a sadder, more feminine voice. "How tragic." his voice returned to the grim snarky voice that he'd been using before. "Fate... is indeed cruel." The masked, cloaked, hidden figure spoke. "and now, now you are alone once more. No wife, no Mythrogg or Eve. Not even their siblings. Just you. Alone in a void of power. Yes, let us hear of this new chapter." -

"Hm." grunted Sylph, pleased. Knowledge was power, after-all. "Ah. That would make sense." He began, slowly. "So it was you. Regret... Who sired this horde, your army of Proggs. And your wife, she birthed them. What became of her?"
