  1. Hi SteampunkDoc, Thanks for taking the interest to learn about comic dialogue. Here are my initial thoughts on your work: 1. First thing I observed are the uneven thickness of the speech balloon borders, that's one thing you need to fix. What editing program did you use BTW? I think you won't have such issues using Photoshop (following my lesson on this topic). 2. The chronology of the speech balloons is ok (top to bottom), but the positioning can still be improved since the top and bottom balloons are near the edge of the image. Is that the original image (taken by the camera)? Or did you crop it from a larger image? If it's the latter then I suggest you allow for more space both above and below the image so the top and bottom balloons are not touching the edges. But if that is already the final image then I guess the only fix you could do is to slightly decrease the size of the balloons. 3. The text size is quite ok at this size of the image, it's understandably small since you have to fit a lot of words on the balloon. Just make sure this image/panel wouldn't be reduced further in size since it would make the text hard to read. 4. Minor grammar issues in the top balloon: typo: experence = *experience / delete doubled word = have have Try to fix these issues and come back with a revised version of your one-panel comic. If you have further questions, don't hesitate to ask. ~ KDM
  2. @Dave: If it makes you feel better, I think every new mafia player goes through this "easily trusts Hinck/Shadows/Draggy/any wily cunning vet only to get duped in the end" phase (I had that moment of weakness in Bloodbrick II when I trusted Shadows easily) . This will be indeed a learning experience, and after this game you'll never see Hinck the same way again in these games. But I must say I was thoroughly impressed with your energy and excitement in this game (it shows both in the game thread and behind-the-scenes ), and that's a good thing. (you just have to control it). One thing I realized in this game is I could never ever do what the likes of Hinck and Rick does in terms of MMPMI (Massive Multi-PM Interactions ), I think that's what one signficant attribute that really makes them great mafia players.
  3. I wouldn't take any credit, as it was a total team effort by all the masons and even the non-recruited townies like you and Walter. Pandora and Nightshroud laid out the foundations by recruiting the right people (in the middle of the pack), CMP and Dave's interaction with the scum side (albeit unknowingly) proved to be crucial on the lynches of Hinck and BoyWonder, while Endgame, me, and Zeph (along with 'Shroud) simply 'picked up the pieces' from that point forward. And even if you and Walter were not recruited, you have been cooperative with the voting late in the game and we couldn't have won it without your cooperation. So I think most of the town really did their part well. You mean on Night 8 if this game have still proceeded? Honestly I didn't actually know that there would be a penalty for not using one's NA until you told me after the day ended. I was actually contemplating on telling you to not use your night action since you can't block Peanuts twice in row. I'm not really sure how the masons would've felt if you had taken a penalty vote for not using your NA, it depends if you intentionally or unintentionally did it or if you coordinated it with us.
  4. I believe you even stated that in the opening photos/comics. Pandy and Nightshroud did exactly that and it proved to be a successful ploy for the town in the long run. I think it may be just the inexperience of Boy Wonder and the fact that he was suddenly alone after Danny got killed on Night 1, he might've wanted to team up with a veteran player like Hinck and Rick, so from that PoV I understand his choices.
  5. I must admit, I wasn't really proud of how I started this game, and midway amidst the consecutive lynches of townies I really felt frustrated and even didn't want to participate at all (hence, the inactivity). It's only when CMP made that crucial revelation on Hinck that gave me a glimmer of hope for this game. As far as my scum-reading skills are concerned, I was rather all-over the place. Thinking Hinck and Rick were town and Pandy was scum? Leading the lynch on Scouty? The only read I was quite proud of was I was fairly certain that Chromeknight was town, and I even made a late case to save him (but nothing can really stop a bandwagon). My initial hunch on Redblade on Day 1, though weakly unsubstantiated, seemed to have been correct in the end, but it was mostly due to his scummy behavior in the last two days.
  6. No, no, no. We're not saying that vanilla townies should just 'be content' with what the inner town group is doing/saying, they could still offer inputs and engage in meaningful discussions, but they just have to do it in a manner that would not make them scummy (like what Walter and Zepher did). We just thought the way Rick worded his PMs as compared to Walter's sounded "a bit off" to us. Now we don't claim to be good readers of PMs, but that's just how Rick's PM registered to us. And another no, Rick surviving the night kill despite being mayor is not the sole reason why we lynched him, heck it's not even a big part of his lynch. I'd list the reasons again with the % weight of reasoning for his lynching (my personal rating only): 1. Failed Recruitment = 50% 2. Surviving the night kill despite being Mayor = 5% 3. Scummy PM = 10% 4. Walter's more convincing proof of innocence (PM chain, private convos, extra effort to prove his innocence) = 30% 5. Metagame reason: Great player still living far into the game = 5%
  7. His PM to me was actually of the generic type "Hey I'm your Mayor, and it would be good to establish contact and talk about the game...". But it was his PM to Endgame that had a lot questions on what was happening behind-the-scenes, especially asking about night action results - which we though was too much asking for info for someone claiming vanilla. As one of the masons (I wouldn't name him ) said: "Rick really wants to know a lot of things, for a vanilla townie. Why does he need to know any of this? If he's town then he should be content with the masons." Then we tried to compare this with how Walter conversed with us privately, he never asked for night action results, the overall tone of his PMs were more cooperative and concerned, and we saw how he worked hard to prove his innocence (there were lots of case scenarios he presented). Of course it wasn't just the length (believe if or not, we actually did read through that novel-length PM post ), but we saw the genuineness of the PM, thinking it was something that would be hard to fabricate (even Zeph, who at that time wasn't still a mason, saw through that). We did entertain the possibility that Walter could've been converted and he's just using this PM evidence to prove his innocence, but on the other side other evidences also piled up on Rick (failed recruitment, surviving the night as mayor, his "fishing for info" PMs), ultimately we collectively concluded Rick was the scummier of the two. But I agree with you, Walter's posting of his PMs really helped a lot in convincing us, so it might've been unfair to the scum(?), so I'd understand if a new rule regarding public posting of PMs will be implemented in the future.
  8. We anticipated Redblade's possible alibis, like an argument that "if he's scum then why would a fellow scum (Rick) would vote for him considering they're thinned out in numbers". It would've made us doubt I'd give you that. But I think he miscalculated when he tried to not vote for Rick to save himself, if he did that then there might've been a chance we would've believed him. But yeah I agree with you, we were actually susprised he didn't put up one last stand. This is where I remember Tamamono's classic never-say-die fighting spirit in IMHOTEP!
  9. Combination of several factors: 1. Rick was playing a very convincing 'town game', so convincing that Dave trusted him enough to elect him as Mayor AND they tried to recruit him on Night 4. The failed conversion on him really cast a huge doubt on him. 2. Mayor Rick surviving the night without getting killed added to our growing suspicion. 3. Then on Day 7, Rick contacted me and Endgame as our Mayor - it rubbed us the wrong way, we thought he was trying to fish for info. 4. Between the two "unrecruitables", Walter convinced us better that he was the "more town" between the two with his lengthy PM chain posted in the game thread. 5. Metagame reason: most of us were very wary that a player of his caliber is still living at that point - so it's either he was converted by the scum due to his convincing town game from the start or he was scum after all. It was a risky move for us to switch from lynching Walter to Rick, so in hindsight we were really glad we took that risk. And it really helped that Walter worked doubly-hard both privately and publicly to prove his innocence. EDIT: Added Reason #2.
  10. I don't think Redblade would've been able to talked his way out of his lynch. The last three masons (Shroud, Zeph, me) were all fairly convinced Redblade was scum, including Walter who I've been talking to privately. His inactivity and suspicious scummy behavior on the last couple of days were convincing enough for us, but his refusal to vote for Rick was the final red flag.
  11. def, thanks for the great game! It was a fun roller-coaster ride, from being on a desperate townie situation to actually pulling off this in the end. Great job to the rest of the town, especially to the first masons Pandy, Nightshroud, CMP, Dave, Endgame as you've laid out the foundations for the eventual town victory. Special kudos to CMP's revelation/sacrifice on Day 5 + Dave's sucessful tracking of Hinck on Night 4 that proved to be the turning point for the town. Also a great game by Nightshroud for playing an effective under-the-radar "who would've thought he was an original mason" game. Lastly, Walter, I'm sorry if I was hard on dealing with you in this game, both publicly and privately. It was really difficult to trust someone who had that "unrecruitable tag" on his back, so I'm glad you were right all along.
  12. In the likely event that I get killed tonight, I'll be revealing the next mason who the rest of the townies could trust and turn to if this ordeal ain't yet finished by tomorrow - Zepher. Here's hoping for the best of the town!
  13. Yep I agree with everyone, calling the town sheep isn't really helpful Redblade, if you're town. Heck, the last person to call the sheep town turned out to be a scumbo (the great LBW). Claiming vanilla at this point is the easiest alibi for a scum. If you're scum, you would probably know by now (through fellow scum Hinck's insider info) that we have no way of verifying that you have no action, so it's very convenient for you to claim vanilla. We're doing our best not to blow this golden opportunity we have been given. Unfortunately, even if you claim you're town, you really haven't been helpful. I understand real life situation might get in the way of you being active in the game, but the very least you could do with your limited time is to cooperate with the town voting, which you clearly didn't do yesterday. Allow to refresh everybody's memories: With the votes tied at Rick - 2 vs. Redblade - 2, Redblade intentionally (and inexplicably, at that point) does not vote for Rick even if he is the other lynch candidate. The normal reaction for someone in danger of being lynched would have been to vote for the other lynch candidate to save himself, but in retrospect now that Rick is proven scum, that was a rather obvious attempt to steer away the votes from fellow scum Rick isn't it? Pls. tell me, Li'l Redblade, how your vote yesterday is a move of a townie, which you claim to be. Please explain. Vote: Li'l Capt. Redblade (Capt. Redblade)
  14. The only problem with that claim is we have no way of verifying that you indeed blocked him, it's just your word at this point and nothing else, so we should NOT easily discount the possibility that Peanuts may still be a scum and possibly a killer. This is not a direct accusation on Peanuts, I'm just stating that we shouldn't easily 'clear people' based on an unverified roleclaim. If you're indeed the Town Blocker Walt, then good for us, but even if you seemed to have redeemed yourself from a possible lynch yesterday every unconfirmed player (including you) at this point is still on our suspect list. I think you'll understand that since the town is just taking the side of caution.
  15. Just to clarify something before I get questioned about this: I was converted on Night 6 to the masonry. Due to a minor slip-up in scheduling, Endgame wasn't able to reveal me as the next mason before the day ended yesterday. Nevertheless, the masonry have succesfully converted another townie last night. Here's our situaton today: - The fact that Rick turned out scum and they didn't force a tie yesterday (or the previous day) just means we are not tied with the scum, so we're 4 Town vs. 2 Scum today. - The last two scums could either be two killers or one killer+one converter. - Our prime candidate for lynching today is none other than Li'l Redblade for various scummy reasons. Even without the benefit of night action evidence against him, his blatant scummy behavior in the past couple of days are reasons enough to lynch him. I'll gather the behavioral analysis evidence of his posts later, but if you've been observant throughout this ordeal you'll know what I'm talking about.
  16. First things first, to ensure that the town have the tie-breaker in the worst case scenario that we're tied with the scum: Mayor: Li'l KielDaMan I'll say more later.
  17. That's really helpful Walter, mocking a trusted townie and one that even gave you the benefit of the doubt (both privately and publicly) despite the incriminating evidence against you. If you think I'm just "blindly following the masons" and not using "the brains God gave me", then I applaud you for your impeccable psychoanalysis skills *slow clap*. We all know there is nothing certain in this game, so every vote we take has accompanying risks, and I do know and understand the risks of lynching Rick, I believe it's worth taking and I'm willing to go with the rest of the town on this decision (win or lose). As for the "4 Town vs. 4 Scum so it's impossible for Rick to be scum" argument brought up by Walter and Rick (coincidence? or by design?), I think this is a desperate attempt by the scum to not only save a possible fellow scum in Rick but also to mask another distinct possibility that we're actually at 5 Town vs. 3 Scum and the scum are scrammbling right now to plant seeds of confusion among the town and prevent a united town majority vote. I personally believe that this is the case right now, and even at a 3-5 disadvantage, all the scum needs is ONE - just ONE - uncooperative townie vote to sway the voting in their favor by forcing a tie and using Rick's tiebreaker to win it for them. See how critical one townie vote is? That's why I couldn't emphasize enough how important each and every town vote at this stage (even at the risk of being branded as "sheep blindly following the leader").
  18. It's quite interesting (and actually insulting) to see that even after the town masonry gave Walter the chance to "get off the hook" today despite having strong incriminating evidence against him, Li'l Walt goes on his own way to defy the masonry's call to the other townies to vote for Rick. Walter if you really are town, then you should cooperate with what the town masonry is planning. Don't you realize that your vote is a significant deviation and might cause the delicate balance of the numbers game to tip in the favor of he scum? Anyway, I'll do what a loyal townie should do, follow the lead of our trusted masons. Vote: Li'l Rick (Rick) I suggest the rest of the townies do the same. Like I said earlier, if we're going to pull through this we have to do things as a united town. We vote together, we take risks together, we go down or we win this whole thing together as one united town.
  19. Same here, actually even before Walter revealed those PMs I'm already doubting my initial suspicion on him despite the strong incriminating evidence against him. At this point, personally, I would like to give Walter the benefit of the doubt, which leaves us to... I think we still have some suspects to choose from. I suggest we wait for the collective decision of the town masonry (via Endgame), as I assume they know things better than us uninformed townies. What's important is even if we're on the outside looking in, we have to trust in their judgment and we'll do this lynch with a united town vote. Nothing is certain in this game, but if we're going to do something, we do it as one town, we vote together, take the risk together, win or lose this whole thing together.
  20. Mr. def, I think we'll need all the time we could get so I say we keep the normal length of the days. Thanks.
  21. Yes, I trusted you since Dave trusted you enough with the role and like what I've said to you privately (and even publicly in my posts), you've been generally pinging town to me throughout the game... ...well until Dave made the revelation on the failed conversion against you. Surely you would understand why I am suddenly suspecting you right? I think the others would feel the same way, it is but a normal reaction of an uninformed townie considering the paranoia and the fragility of the numbers game between the town and scum right. I'm giving you the benefit of the doubt, hence I stated the possibility of you being 'framed'. But at this stage of the game you couldn't really blame the town for clinging on every bit of evidence they could find to help their cause. If we're going with Walt today then you're still safe and there may be ways the inner town group could still verify you.
  22. Great! We're still alive, meaning it's either we're still 4-4 and the scum failed to convert last night OR we're actually 5-3 against them (best case scenario). I still think Walter is our best bet for lynch today, based on the previous evidences against him. He may try to persuade us that he's town but the failure to recruit him, his closeness with proven scumbo killer Hinck, and the fact that our last two masons, Pie and Dave, believed he's scum are reasons that cannot be just ignored and I think they are enough for us to convict Walt today. Before Li'l Dave died last night, he dropped a bomb that the masons failed to recruit Rick, That alone is a red flag, and with the fact that he was not killed today despite being Mayor raises a high suspicion alert on him. But there is still the distinct possibility that this is a 'frame job' by the scum (recruitment block on him + intentionally not killing him) to make him look lke scum. Still, I say we lynch Walter today and 'deal' with Rick later.
  23. I remember you also calling Li'l CMP an idiot yesterday, and why am I not surprised that you're calling the town sheep and its shepherd an idiot just because we got another one of you scummos? Why, you thought you scumbos have this already in the bag didn't you? Can't accept the fact that there is still a fight left in this town you call sheepish? Stay classy scumbo.
