  1. I can agree on that, just about any soccer mom is stockpiling Helm's Deep, Vampyre Castles and things like that... There's a lot of sets that are underestimated.
  2. Hey Prcuvu, welcome to the forums I own 8279 and the only alternative model I know of is some kind of a drag racer, unless I'm missing an instruction booklet. Check this link for complete building instructions: http://lego.brickinstructions.com/instructions.php?code=8279
  3. I also think that reselling older sets for astronomical prices won't go on forever, but the main thing is, that the sets I've bought are still valuable to me as a source of parts and if sealed it's doubtful that they'll fall under the MSRP price.
  4. Great MOC, love the red and black road, looks very ominous
  5. I think we can safley say that AFOL community would not be what it is without Bricklink site. I'd welcome a few security and feature upgrades, but I hope if they do make a facelift of the page, the new site won't need too much bandwidth due to the pretty scripts and shiny elements...
  6. Amazing, love the solar panels My first thought was: "Why's there no brick-built model only the photographs of the real thing
  7. The Comm Station is supposed to be a companion piece to*something*, only I haven't figured what exactly I might incorporate it into some larger MOC, once I build my collection up a bit.
  8. Something from my MOC backlog... This is a variety of stationary turrets, AA, railgun, grenade launcher, etc. Every turret has a camo, such as snow/Arctic camo, desert camo, urban, swamp. The can rotate 360 degrees and most can adjust the angle of firing. ANti-armor and anti-infantry stationary railgun, effective on medium range. Medium ranged rocket launcher, snow camouflage, with laser guided ammunition (note the red dot laser on the side) Anti infantry two barreled turret, snow camo. Laser guided grenade launcher in snow camo. Coastal defense artillery (think Atlantic wall), effective against battleships, classic urban camo. Long ranged, anti-infantry turret, urban camo, high accuracy - sniper turret. Four barreled anti-aircraft gun in snow camo. Double barreled anti-infantry turret in swamp camo. Comments and critiques are welcome
  9. Yeah, we need some part of Minas Tirith, Gondor army builder set, possibly Osgiliath attack / Ithilien camp, Ranger's ambush on Haradrim, Witch-king battle, maybe even a scene with orcs and Grond attacking the Gates of Minas Tirith. So many possibilities
  10. Thanks for suggestion, but we live in Slovenia, so Netflix currently isn't an option She loved the old movies the best, but I might rewatch some TNG episodes and decide if that'd be a better idea.
  11. You have a point there, if they included Sauron, the set could be a smashing success.
  12. So, I need some advice... I've watched all ST movies, plus a good deal of episodes from TOS, TNG and DS9. My girlfriend is a huge fan of Star Trek as well, but she had seen only movies (We intend to watch some episodes this summer) and her birthday is coming up in three weeks. I want to buy her a season or two on DVDs, but I'm not sure which would be the best. I was thinking first/second TOS series. Can someone recommend anything specific?
  13. @Darth Caedus: Sadly, I doubt LEGO would go for the 2nd Age sets simply because the story of Silmarillion is not too well known to general populace, especially to the kids. While I agree that seeing Gil Galad, Elendil, and the opposing forces would be amazing, it's nearly impossible to happen
  14. Modulars and the recetn Space Shuttle. I also regretted not buying the 4841 Hogwarts Express... Until I found it a few weeks ago in my store at 20% off retail price - like Christmas come early
  15. Thanks guys DraikNova, it's no. 3956 bracket: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=3956
  16. Found Hagrid's Hut at 39 EUR (50 USD) and 4841 Hogwarts Express for 75 EUR (125 USD). Factory sealed
  17. This is amazing. I've been thinking about building some rooms from Prancing Pony. Awesome walls!
  18. How I wish I'd have the time for Gunzburg... Damn finals.
  19. For smaller sets, I usually display them for a few days, then disassmble them and integrate them into MOCing collection. Larger sets - UCS Falcon - get to be set up for display for a few months or a year and then carefully taken apart, put into ziplock bags and stored in original boxes.
  20. I guess it's because my parents, friends and relatives have been buying LEGO for me since I was 3 years old - it's gotten to the point where my classmates get me LEGO inmpulse sets or battle packs when we have our annual Secret Santa kind-of-thing. I had hobbies I liked for half a year, a year, a couple of years, but I always came back to LEGO. It truly ia a toy and a tool for developing imagination and creativity.
  21. Thank you for the daily dose of humor. Comparing the set and the box is funny to the point of facepalming
  22. These two guys do instrumental cello renditions of popular pop and rock songs: Highway to Hell, Back in Black, Smooth Criminal, Welocme to the Jungle...
  23. Love the whale! This is one of my favourite scenes in the series.
  24. Since I have my finals, I haven't been able to build as much as I'd want to in the past few weeks. But I had parts from Clone Trooper Battle Pack lying arond the table and I created this: Manned Anti-Airship Gun. Operated by one Clone Trooper, featuring two barrels, fully rotatable.
  25. I've been busy with my finals for the past few weeks, but I've been tinkering with some bricks from Clone Trooper Battle Pack I had lying around the table. The final result: Autonomous Armed Drone. Since my brick amount is currently very limited (4 BL orders in progress, thankfully), I'm making mostly small creations, such as this Communications Station. The yellow tubes are power lines.
