Our lord and master. Right, so anyways... do these Holland catalogs usually pop out with new images, or just an alternate version of existing catalogs?

If any of you go to Lugnet, feel free to copy my post there in it's entirety. :-D

This looks like a job for Squitle... ... what the? ...okay, ugly bastard son of Squirtle will have to do.

For the amount of ADULTS on there, there's quite a bit of CHILDISH bickering. Every site has quarrels eventually, but those guys get personal. Why don't they upgrade? Because they're too proud to. It could also be that after putting in so much mental energy into deciphering the interface, that they don't want to leave... as it would mean all the time they invested in it was put to waste. Well, I don't want to judge everyone there just because a few infantile elitists can't believe they're not the center of the universe (Yeah, I'm lookin' at YOU, Eric Sophie!), but I do have to wonder why the "normal" people stay there to feed them. Then again, alot of the good guys on there have bled out onto these more modern boards (Read: BETTER. EASIER. FASTER.) But I'm not cool with their years of data being lost... here's EXACTLY what they should do: 1. LOCK UP THE OLD BOARD. 2. Create a modern board. 3. Link to the shitty, old board. Or, as was already said, use some clever software to extract and implant all the old stuff into a newer interface... but I'm guessing that'd be a logistical nightmare, possibly resulting in accidental data loss. All I know is, when I got into Lego a few years ago, people referred me to Lugnet as THE place for serious Lego discussion. But to so so so so many people these days, they've turned into a horrible joke, with gags about elitism and morons wanting to copyright the word "brick". Lugnet, I hear you were a grand thing at one time, but step into the future. We're waiting for you. It won't hurt. It will in fact feel very sexy. DON'T YOU WANT TO FEEL SEXY, LUGNET?

It was pretty exciting when they debuted in 2001. They had the joints of the Throwbots / Slizers (and RoboRiders), but didn't suck, as there was actual character design going on. A look not too unlike japanese anime type mecha. That was helped by the feverish mask-pack collecting. Mocers bought them in massive quantities to get them in different colors, while kids collected them also just for the sake of collecting them all. So, the first year, while still having some awkward looking larger sets, was pretty badass. But in my opinion, every year since then has had major flaws. Gone were masks in all different colors. Gone were the battery operated sets. Then came really AWFUL masks in limited colors. And every set had those AWFUL Bohrok legs. Ridiculous "play features" were introduced, which worse yet, adversely affected parts... pieces otherwise symmetrical were gouged just to fit them in. The "collectibles" were no longer masks that could be used imaginatively in mocs, but deteriorated into nasty little blobs of plastic. After awhile, most sets were just overflowing with giant "silver" weapons... which unfortunately were really lacking in the connection point department. 2005 showed promise, but was still plagued with giant, wonky, unusable parts for mocing. Electronics were there, but the batteries weren't removable, (unless you were clever). The cheesay gimmick was actually neat... BB ball shooters. There were steps in the right direction, but it wasn't quite "right" yet. But here's 2006. No wide assortment of mask colors again, but man... all the rest. --electronics (STROBE LIGHTS, no less!), with removable batteries. --LOTS of trans parts, and a generous amount in the sets that have them, not just one socket connector. --glow in the dark elements that aren't just painted on, also in a decent supply for the set that has it. --GOOD looking figures, not the runty, insect-like monstrosities of the recent years. --Playsets have minifigs with arms... and those arms are the PERFECT replacement for the system minifig "mecha-fingers" every mecha builder has had to suffer through year after year. --More violent action in the story? YES. --"Tool" weapons that can't help but be seen as guns? YES. No more pointlessly insulting tools this time, these guys are going to WAR. They always were, but now they look it. It's like all the whining I did on other Lego sites was actually being listened to. :-D The only thing they could do to make the line better is have motorized sets, a fully-trans action figure, and the masks available in more colors than one. Am I off my rocker or do you agree? Is not this particular year of the line the BEST since 2001? Is it not perhaps the best period?

So I just went through a LEGO revival

Ah well... I tried my best to trick you into buying a Bionicle set. :-P The majority of the "oldskool" builders pretty much hate Bionicle. And they have NO problem saying so. They're not completely in the wrong, but I do pity their lack of foresight. But hey, to each his own. To me, Bionicle / Technic is super-posable joints that let me make action figures. Don't get me wrong though, I'd LOVE a room of the house devoted to a city landscape of my design. Yet as you point out, Lego be costly, so we be buyin' just what be catchin' our eye first. Dynamically posable mecha For The Win. ...(and I'm not talkin' those stiff, hollow, limiting snap-jointed Exo-Force anime wannabe's... ...though they do have some good parts) -

Understatement of the year. lol I've seen electronics manuals that made posting and following responses easier. But to be fair, at least manuals don't have an elitist attitude once you do speak their language. ;) -
(1) 8730 Toa Inika Hewkii ($9.99) (1) 8643 Power Cruiser ($2, on clearance) (2) 8641 Flame Glider ($2, on clearance) (1) 4877 Rahaga Norik ($2, on clearance) (1) 4879 Rahaga Iruini ($2, on clearance) On a glorious note, the Toa Inika were sold out all but for 3 canisters. This never happened before at my Walmart. I HOPE they'll be getting more in.

Well if that's how you're going to be, screw paper!

Sounds like a good way to get boogers making alt accounts. :-P

Agreed. But the biggest thing to complain about is the swirly colors on thios particular set. VERY worthless to mocing. Immensely. But on a good note, all but one of the other Inika are NOT like that. Solid-colored goodness all around. Despite the inability to really use her swirly parts (lol), the green strobe light color and the gun-metal silver colored weapon are VERY welcome. All the pale, sickly looking silver and gold of recent sets are put to shame by this one's colors. I wouldn't mind all the silly armor and weapons put out each year if they were in this "serious" color.

Better yet, it might be an act of foresight by the writers... a storyline arc set aside as a way to let the Doctor go past his last regeneration. ::pictures a dramatic scene involving the master messing with the last doctor's life, followed by a couple lifetimes sacrificed to him by a parallel universe doctor:: Wow. That was hella geeky. ...lol
-
Not to mention a premise for one GEEKY porn movie. :-D I was just thinking... those good old days of stuff like "The 5 Doctors", all those meetup episodes... a thing of the past. The classic doctors are either dead or horribly aged now. It'd take tons of makeup, many back-shots of lookalikes, and possibly even CG'ing over top their faces. Sad. I liked those episodes alot. V__V Hey... anyone but me wonder where the doctor (assuming there even is one) from Rose's current reality was?

New updated Custom figs spiderman & thundercats
JINZONINGEN73 replied to Vader's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
People who know me know I hate Marvel and most American heroes in tights junk. But man, you did a great job here. Venom warrants an elongated head, though I'm not sure how to pull it off. Green Goblin looks like one of many green-faced Dragonball Z enemies. Scarlet Spider... NICE job. Thundercats... wow. Your work is proof that one doesn't need Kubrick-sized figures to get (convincing) character accuracy... just someone skilled to work in their design department. Why couldn't you work at Lego? *sigh* lol at chewed-up Cheetara. X D -
Following the "buy 2 of any Lego set" rule: 2 sets of Toa Inika Hahli 2 sets of Toa Inika Matoro 2 sets of Toa Inika Jaller These things are incredible. There's mocing potential in these that I've not seen in Bionicle since 2001. *wub*

Yeah, but the Daleks were stuck in that void space for a looong period of time, sucking up tons of the void particles. If you notice, the Cybermen, who'd hardly had much void contact, were NOT shown being sucked through the portal the Daleks were. As fans theorized, they were instead getting sucked through cracks surrounding the main portal. Rose too, had limited void travel. But yeah. lol. I liked this series pretty well. I am getting sick of crappily-animated CGI monsters. There's something to be said for CGI, but there's also something to be said for actors in cheesy costumes... character. David's shaped up to be a good doctor. Noone will ever be as bad as Colin Baker., and I doubt the BBC would start now lol. I just wish they'd stop the over-use of formula. This season mirrored last season too much. The whole "Torchwood' thing emulating "Bad Wolf". Blatant advertising for the new spinoff series with Capt. Jack. And if I'm not mistaken, didn't the idiot box, scribble, and at least 2 other episodes film on the same exact street set? Seemed like they were avoiding high budgets here and there. Should be interesting to see where things go from here... one or more Dalek left, Cybermen dead, no more Rose (though I hear she might make cameos).

So I just went through a LEGO revival

Welcome to our site! And welcome back to the world of Lego! Hey now, them's fightin' words. Don't discount what Bionicle has to offer... mainly, super-posable joints for making Lego action figures. If you're more a guy who only likes building original Lego-designed models, I can see how the Technic offerings might seem sparse to you. But if you're a person who makes mocs (My Own Creations), then by all means, grab 2 canisters of the Bionicle Toa Inika... preferably 2 of the same character (color). You might like'em. Hardly, hardly. Go to Lego.com immediately and order a shop@home catalog. TONS of System to be found. These days, unless you have a Lego store or Toys R Us near you, you're probably not going to find very much system. Places like Walmart (a big outlet for Lego product) does use their available shelf space more towards Bionicle and Knights Kingdom (the kiddy lines), with just a few system sets here and there. But lord, that is not all Lego does each year! So, here's your homework (lol): --buy 2 Bionicle Toa Inika sets of the same color --go to Lego.com and order a catalog *sweet* -
Unfortunately, even rechargables will never get anywhere with that many of Soundwave's minions to suck'em.

Drop that brain into a new body.

The only thing that could make this review better is a pic of all the parts before assembly. These Inika BLOW the Piraka out of the water 73 million times over.
