  1. Everything you just said, gylman. All I can guess is that they got some insane freebie of a deal on a container manufacturer. These are already doomed. They fail on 4 major points that Lego sets should be sold on: 1. Character / vehicle / story identification / idolization. -They have no story, and don't look like any cars... ever. 2. Look good as a completed set. -FAIL. 3. Give a reason for one to moc / buy more sets. -Not even... in order to do the desired function and still stay together in one piece, most probably won't go messing with the initial design. Buying more sets = loss of function. 4. Parts to price ratio... for use as extra parts in mocs. -Unless these are like $4.49 or lower, DOOMED. Yeesh, yeesh, yeesh and yeesh. My opinion will drop even less if the designs are painted on, and not stickers you can just throw away.
  2. I know... just didn't want anyone really clueless thinking I was closing the topic. :-D Seriously, I have hundreds... and regularly visit / contribute to the "factory" that still pumps them out. X D Alot are unfit for this site though... which is unfortunate, because there's a zip file floating around with nearly every one ever done lol.
  3. I'm suprised anyone voted for that. You have a man on a fast horse... and the ghost is present in just a tiny enclosure. I imagine he'd ride up to it, the door would open by itself (unless he used his weapon while mounted to open it), followed by "Zounds. That's not quite right", at which point he goes galloping away to go get hammered at a pub. What it lacks is peril. There's no enclosure, no one way out, no getting trapped. And he's looking down on the spectre... A haunted house, a graveyard, an arena, etc etc... it's you using even more of your frightened brain cells to calculate an escape route, however simple. Despite all this, if he were dismounted in that pic, perhaps a few studs away from the horse, maybe even the ghost's enclosure in between him and the horse... THEN it'd be a little more scary.
  4. Yawn. Can you say... "double exposure"? Here's an annoying one: The Hampton Court Ghost This one became fairly well known after it was released in December of 2003. Hampton Court, near London, was one of Henry VIII's favorite hangouts (it's because of him that Anne Boleyn is now a headless ghost roaming the Tower of London). A fire door inside the castle kept being opened when no one was supposed to be around. Guards checked the security cameras' videotape... and spotted this figure in period costume walking through the door. Castle personnel swear they don't know who did this, noting that they don't even have a costume that looks like this. 'Course this could be some prankster at work, but I felt this was yet worthy of including in my top ten list... until we ever find out otherwise. It might turn out to have just been some tourist in an overcoat. Yeah, ok, I'm sorry... this is clearly a MAN, even going back to close the door correctly. And yet... it made news all across the globe... no doubt to further discredit the supernatural. Here's the gif I made to show how phony it is: http://www.maj.com/gallery/JINZONINGEN73/J...nghostmyass.gif Similarly, a gif showing how stupid "Bigfoot" is. Hey, where can I buy a hair shirt like that? http://www.maj.com/gallery/JINZONINGEN73/J...igfootmyass.gif Perhaps even more annoying is that long-time Bigfoot analysts took the enhanced gif there and tried using it as further PROOF. People see what they want to, I guess. >__>
  5. What the heck am I looking at? Complete sets AFTER having firecrackers detonated underneath? I'm an adult and I don't understand it. A kid's just going to walk right by things that are that nonsenical. ...Is that supposed to be a bumper coming out of the grill on the red and black ones? ...Is that a hook of death dragging behind.... ...ok, these are dumb. But as usual, ok parts sources. They look like they might be more than $3.99 this time though. If they're priced higher than $4.49... they're going to flop right into the bargain bins.
  6. Oh no... oh no oh no. Don't get me started on the cat pics on this site too! nnnnNNNNNgggGGGG.... I CAN'T STOP MYSELF! Seriously... there's HUNDREDS of these. X D
  7. Seeing the way TLC overreacts to fake sets makes me want to create a false internet identity and go all out with nasty set premises. It's like... getting a substitute teacher kind of mentality. :-D
  8. Some TV shows are scarier than movies. The OLD Outer Limits (black and white) often had some pretty damn scary things goin' on. Especially the episode with the convict bugs that had human-like faces. Scary, scary, SCARY. That show was ahead of it's time. More fun to watch than Twilight Zone. WAY better monsters. http://www.theweaponshop.com/outerlimits/OLC1b.html http://www.theweaponshop.com/outerlimits/OLC2b.html
  9. Yeah, I see people using those treads largely as machinegun ammo and bandolier straps.
  10. I'm suprised they didn't slap those ski-like Bionicle swords as the front of the snowmobile. Almsost looks like an intentional return to that classic Technic look with all of these, doesn't it? Nice parts sources. :-)
  11. Looks like dark blay (gray). Could be almost any color though.
  12. Well... no. lol Look at the parts... nothing very exotic. And it's only a few bricks high. The reason it'd be easy (for us) is because the eBay seller dropped 3 more or less all-encompassing pics to go by. ;-) Someone lookin' at at unbuilt one in a poly bag would still get it.
  13. Well that answer the "Are they X-Pods?" question. I kinda' like the packaging, but I'll grievously miss the useful pods. V__V
  14. Graveyard Duel. Sure, there's skeletons and ghosts in other Lego sets, but this one REALLY has kids confronting the concept of death, and in a horror movie kind of way. >:-) Damn... now that I look at it closer on Brickshelf, I'm kinda' cheesed off that they never sold them at any stores in this town. >: (
  15. Lol... this is probably the best video "proof" of a haunting ever. Taken in the basement of a hotel, inside a town known for hot springs. The thermal image existed both against the surface of a filing cabinet, as well as the air just above it. The hotter, glowing emblem on the arm is painted onto the filing cabinet. This youtube vid stops before they show what happens next... the thermal image going back completely to "normal", no sign of the humanoid figure, no sign of a residual heat signature. http://youtube.com/watch?v=B7C7WlYCZGQ&sea...ghost%20hunters
  16. Speaking of more than one person witnessing things... Example, my wife and I a few years ago: So what, us two, who don't do drugs, weren't tired... just happened to witness the same thing 5 feet in front of our eyes?
  17. Right. There's laws that protect simple, one-shot "parodies". So unless Lego can show quantifiable figures of how much revenue they've lost from this... I think nothing will come of it, even if they find the creator. For all we know, it was initially just a funny image someone made and sent to a friend in email. If they went on a site and said "This is an official Lego set"... maybe... MAYBE they have a case. But I'm going on US law, so perhaps in another country they could mop the floor with someone. Really though... this is just Lego flexing their muscles in front of the public in hopes copycats think twice, and to quell any possible muslim wackiness before it happens, nothing more.
  18. Indeed. But it's a beautiful thing when you get 2 or more people experiencing an event at the same time. It could be a downright horridly scary event, maybe involving physical harm... but it becomes something different when there's witnesses and not just yourself. It invalidates one as being just over-creative in their head (or just plain kooky). The subconscious mind is not something to discount though. Just as easily as it can make a person believe they see & hear things not there, it can, on command, shift one into a mindset in phase with such stranger things. Might take a long time, might be instantaneous, but it certainly does work.
  19. Yeah, we're wishfully thinking... and I'm repeatedly confounded why set designers don't do the same. We buy Lego, we build with it, we know what we want... but year after year...
  20. Yeah, but Lego's ALWAYS excessive in swatting down even the most mildly derogatory use of their brand name. The site Newgrounds.com was stuck in an annoying lawsuit with a crappy gaming mag over something, and just when the admin's resources were stretched too thin, Lego jumped in with a cease and desist order telling them to remove Flash movies made by the users there that had Lego ANYTHING in them. So, because he was already drained from the other party's lawsuit, he felt too drained to even fight Lego, deleting them all. >__< And that's sad, too... because not only were some NOT derogatory, some were damn near positively promotional. But, time heals all wounds and the Newgrounds members have slowly returned new Lego Flash submissions to the site. I do understand their swiftness in this current matter at hand... Who wants kamikaze religious fanatics on their bad side? And I'd venture this was CLEARLY done for the shock value / Muslim anger of it. Still... this is pretty tame stuff. There's (or at least were) alot worse Lego porn sites out there. And I'll be the first to admit that they're not "perverted". They're "funny as hell". The whole thought that someone could actually be gettin' hot and bothered over smiling Lego figures is a ludicrous riot. :-D It's funny because it's so preposterous... less sexual than even stick figures drawn on a napkin. X D
  21. There's only 3 stores here that sell Lego... a drug store with overpriced Bionicle figures from 4 years ago, a supermarket that gets shipments in once in a blue moon, and Walmart. V__V You might say I'm screwed, save for Shop@Home. If I recall, didn't Lego get shafted somehow by Disney, leading to record-low sales one year? Probably some bad blood between them... which is fine by me. The less Disney in Lego, the better. You don't need..."them"... to make good pirate sets. (They can do it cheaper, too).
  22. Easy... though not in those colors lol. ... ...is it me, or does it look like there's no hinges? And if there isn't, how're they holding up the lid in the pic where the bricks are coming off in back? EDIT: Now that I think about it, there's probably 2 of the same joint piece on the back as the one on the front. Because it's not 1x2 swiveling angle bricks.

  24. It's cool, but the construction seems pretty easy to emulate from the pics. A couple black bricks, a couple brown bricks, and some yellow parts... bammo.
  25. Might be fun. I have some... "interesting" events going on in my life next year. If things go as planned this year, it'll affect those meetup plans. Until then, I have to just sit and wait. :-|
