Halloween 06: What has scared you the most
JINZONINGEN73 replied to WesternOutlaw's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Oh, I get shivers up my spine. But I understand what the shivers are, internally and externally. No, i guess it doesn't lol. I get an eerie feeling like anyone would, going downstairs to the fridge for munchies in the dark at night, but the real fear is stepping on ill-placed dog crap in my path. :-D There's more fearful things that are physical. For things out of phase with us to interact, alot of energy is used, and like I said, there's things and intelligences in place to buffer more extreme interaction. It might make you jump because it happened on a dime, but events that are odd should be approached with no more "worry" than if you saw something rare while bird watching... though there are some dangerous birds on rare occasions. And plenty of other factors to get in the way while trying to birdwatch, if you know what I'm saying. -
Halloween 06: It was a dark and stormy night...

Not being able to come to her senses quick enough, she panicked... a feeling magnified by an almost tangible feeling of dread coming up from something behind her field of vision... -

I never would've got those last two. I was thinking Lon Chaney or Boris Karloff had to be in there somewhere. -

Her ears picked up the cat, growling underneath a cubicle between her and the shadowy form... to her horror. -
They should go in, as long as they're gif or jpg. Unless there's some cookies you have blocked or something that won't allow it. :-/

It's easy to post the pictures yourself. 1.Go to brickshelf.com and register. 2.Create new folder, only use letters, not other characters or spaces. 3.Upload jpg or gif pictures. If you have any trouble with it, just PM me. *sweet*

I want what I see when a person walks out their door in a town lol. Off the top of my head, I wish Lego would get creative and make their own (original) restaurant. You know, a fast food joint like EVERY town with businesses has. You got some nice ideas there too, Calvin. I wonder what piece would work as a riot police shield, since they'd NEVER make that. :-D And most importantly... electrical, 9V lighting. Lighting... serious lighting is LONG overdue in Legoland. I remember looking at my brother's catalog thingie back in the late 70's / early 80's... the minifigs ran around town all day, then went to sleep at night, with their homes lit up inside. Imagine my dismay 20 years later to find they didn't even make that... short of getting an old 9V light brick from a train set and adding a 6 AA battery holder. >__<

Halloween 06: What should Halloween be?
JINZONINGEN73 replied to Zane's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Well, I've done my part to keep Halloween alive. Have any of you? -
Well thank goodness you're not one of those who go "OMG I'm soooo busy please delete my account for now!" Good luck, and cheers for having a good sense of priority. :-)

The psychic kid segment is annoying, but there's 1 or 2 good ones in here: http://www.jonhs.net/freemovies/worlds_scariest_ghosts.htm http://ssiys.ytmnd.com/ -
WAAAAAH! Lego killed my sculpting hobby WAAAAAAH!

LOL... yeah, I did that. Made my wife a cool ashtray with like 12 different colors in it... next thing you know, the oven's pouring smoke and I'm running away to not pass out, choking all the way. :-D -

Good, so it's not just me then. I was wondering if I just cooked them wrong. Well, I think every type needs kneading. That might be why cracks form over time, because of uneven drying points. When you knead, it all becomes the same. Do you cook them in an oven, or with a heat gun? I found that heat guns are GREAT for small stuff, cooking (or at least stabilizing it's surface prior to cooking) it right there. But with more dense creations, the heat gun only penetrates so far in, leaving the inner material unevenly moist, leading to easy damage. -
I sometimes add text stories (more like scripts) to mocs... each new moc giving more of the story. This is the only one I spent any real time on though: http://www.bzpower.com/forum/index.php?act=ST&f=25&t=53597 I think you're looking more for "cartoons", right?

What do you sculpt with? I found Fimo to be the only thing that has a plastic-like quality, so I could have moving joints. Honestly though, I don't think it's feasible anymore to make action figures out of ANYTHING you sculpt with. However, Bionicle Technic joints might be the answer. Some other dude made the creature from the movie "Pitch Black", but (somehow?) embedded the joints. http://www.shadow-avp.se/skit/Marauder3.jpg http://www.shadow-avp.se/skit/Marauder5.jpg http://www.shadow-avp.se/skit/Marauder7.jpg http://www.shadow-avp.se/skit/marauder9.jpg http://www.shadow-avp.se/skit/marauder10.jpg http://www.shadow-avp.se/skit/marauder18.jpg I'm wondering if it's even worth it to try this stuff again. The figure would probably have to be sculpted first, cooked, THEN drilled and gouged to accomodate the Lego joints. And really, the loss of shape during cooking might be the biggest problem there. -
Yeah, so I went into one of my old toy bins (I have dozens)... some not opened almost 10 years. I found some stuff I began sculpting. I thought in all the moves over the past years, that it was all lost. But, here were two remnants. As you can see, I was attempting to sculpt FUNCTIONING action figures out of Sculpey and Fimo. Unfortunately, that stuff changes shape significantly when cooked... even if just using a heat gun, like with the Felicia figure (because her Mystique core body would melt in an oven). These are REALLY rough. I know that. I'd only just begun learning the materials when my life got busy... THEN Lego walked into my life. http://www.maj.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=126333

:-D We're a bunch of filthy, lazy, non-clicking link morons.

Hahahaha, no, I'm not on 4chan. ...But I am on a site damned close to them... a site that "does not exist". >:-) Yoda, those were some cool ones I never saw before.

Hmmm... that glow is kind of deceptive. If there were light bricks, it'd say it on the front, yes? *sad* Exciting build with 15% more elements than like LEGO model Lol... sounds like the "Engrish" found on bootleg toy packaging. X D -
*y* THANK YOU, Lego! I'll take 20! Tiny Turbos For The Win! It says the ugly bastards are 10.99 in Euros... TELL me that doesn't convert to something over 5 US bucks.

To those in the know... is "canister" packaging
JINZONINGEN73 replied to JINZONINGEN73's topic in General LEGO Discussion
You speak the truth. X-D I imagine that the big, wonky canisters also GREATLY reduce pilfering. Meh, who knows? Maybe they're taking a hit on the packaging NOW, with a planned return to boxes after their brand recognition solidifies? -
To those in the know... is "canister" packaging
JINZONINGEN73 replied to JINZONINGEN73's topic in General LEGO Discussion
It's a weird thing... I guess there's more sales from the items sticking out more in view... but is it proportionally profitable to cheaper packaging (or as you said in the case of XPods... useful) and a loss of shelf space? I liked the first Bionicle canisters, as they actually had lids that could be used as building parts... but those days are gone. Now I just have 8 million hard plastic containers all over, taking up more room than my Legos already do. -
Does anyone have a rough idea on how much hard plastic "canisters", or even those metal, aerosol can looking one for the newer Knights Kingdom affect price for the consumer? It was just Bionicle doing it for a few years, but now there's KK, Racers, 2007 Creator, etc... and likely others will follow. It's hard to think the classic cardboard boxes aren't significantly cheaper to produce. So like, did Lego get some amazing deal from a packaging company? ...Not that the cost of some sets don't reflect expensive packaging at times...
