  1. There is but 2 options. --Bricklink --A really good American penpal. And sometimes, eBay.
  2. Well, they've been produced a few decades straight. That means ALOT of smilie heads. Bricklink should have them for quite a good while. ;-)
  3. In no order, and in no way meaning every crappy sequel or prequel, -Look Who's Coming to Dinner -Logan's Run -My Neighbor Totoro (and pretty much ANY Studio Ghibli, Hayao Miyazaki movie) -Blade -Star Wars, Empire Strikes Back (the rest somewhat blow) -Tremors -Threads (Every person in a seat of political power should be forced to watch this... instead of trying to ban it) -Aliens -Predator 2 -Ghostbusters -Robot Carnival -Project A-ko -Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (Gene Wilder) -Night of the Living Dead (old) -Shrek, Shrek 2 -The Abyss -Forrest Gump -Godzilla vs. Megalon (any japanese anime titles up there... SUBBED, not dubbed). I'm sure there's more that are a crime for not remembering, but I'm tired. : p EDIT: Oh, duh: -Jackass, Jackass 2 -Howard Stern's Private Parts
  4. Man, why don't more people do this?!? I mean, I've done a hefty pile of gifs with mocs... but they're lame compared to this. I wonder what program he assembled the frames and music into. (Must. Start. Doing. These. Things.)
  5. Hisssssss. lol Oh, I hate them on a personal level. But that's ok, I have many accounts with which to troll there. >:-) My choices, in order of importance: (sorry EB) Brickshelf - WAY too much history and art of building would be lost. (sorry again EB) A "site that does not exist". - Exclusive place filled with downloads and nasty humor of every form imaginable. EuroBricks - There you are. In_the_Bricks - Those crazy, lovable bastards. Bricklink - Not even just for the stuff to buy, but the documentation of parts. More useful to me than poopy ol' Peeron. Maj.com - Already lost a ton of pics when I was offline for the shutdown of "Geekshelf"... it'd be ten times worse if Maj did it too.
  6. Not to be boring, but I think they probably just looked around to see what feet they had excess of in what color, and went from there. More accurately though, I think they were trying to appease everyone who moaned that every new line is just 6 recolored guys with the same parts. (Wish they had Pridak feet in more colors). *wub*
  7. Figured I'd just drop photos to #8133 Rally Runner in here. No point in a new topic. ;-) (I hate putting stickers on my Lego bricks... they're just parts for mocing to me. Thank Hades the details weren't painted on.)
  8. ^^^ Exactly. That's the tell-tale sign of a franchise nearing an end. All these various story ideas that were planned all being chucked together at once for one final blow. Kinda' like how some tv shows have an ending episode where absolutely ludicrous and wacky things all happen at once, but due to limited time, leaves the feel of a regular episode of it in the dust. "This one went this way, that one died, these two hooked up, those ones split up, and that's the end!" type deal.
  9. Yeah, they did seem kind of "melty", didn't they? The one I got was downright sticky to the touch. And as for standing up: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=2050834
  10. Wow. This topic gave me a headache. And also made me see threads that are wound around an "ending" to Bionicle. I wouldn't be suprised to see a new toy line replacing it within 3 years.
  11. Well, ...you know ...Bionicle HAS had a pretty uh... long run. ...For a Lego theme.... y'know? 8-
  12. It's hard to offend when something's written out with though and respect like your post was. Even as someone who likes Bionicle sets, this too disturbs me. At the one place in this area that sells Lego, there's 2 shelves for Bionicle, 1 for Star Wars and Spongebob, then another shelf that varies with Racers or technic cars. ALL of these shelves are often lacking in stock, leaving Megablocks pushed over to fill the empty space! Sad stuff. I think that wherever a kid starts off, System or Technic, they still wind up in the future primarily on System. As the more useless Bionicle parts start to make sifting through the parts bins annoying, it seems natural to get smaller bricks. Kids starting off on System likely get only a tiny push. Even as a kid playing with my brother's collection of classic space, I used to think Lego couldn't create decent action figures... and I was totally right. But thanks to Technic / Bionicle, it's incredibly fun. Then, in the third stage of what I think Lego is, I find myself buying as much (if not more) System sets than Technic. It all works out in the end. Though toy shelves might suffer from a lack of System, the money coming in from Bionicle still allows Lego to make cool System sets to buy from them directly online. And hey, cutting out the middleman likely helps their profits too.
  13. In_the_Bricks, along with 2 non-Lego sites (secret) with a few dozen Lego fans onboard.
  14. Bionicle: Ugh... Bionicle is VERY compatible with System. Sometimes with great results. Gone are the days of Lego mecha that have no more than swing hinges and rotating 2x2's as "joints". Bionicle made system able to become action figures. Even without System being added, is this, a full-Bionicle parts creation, really not worthy of ever being allowed to exist? Is this really worse than Z'Nap or Galidor? http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=572524 Likewise, TRY to pull something abstract off like this with studded bricks: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=148565 Non-studded Technic parts are only as useless as you are creative. Hell, Even the awful Z'nap was used in the above link!
  15. "Other". I was going to say Galidor, as it was pretty much REALLY ugly action figures with pop-off limbs... but I think Z'Nap takes the cake. Here's why: -Z'nap was clearly an attempt to infringe on competitor K'nex, by confusing brand recognition among customers through a RETARDEDLY similar name. Shameful. -Even though the beams have Technic pin holes, they're spaced at such a distance whereby they don't connect alongside a regular Technic beam. -The mushy plastic used is akin to the type being used on some Bionicle and other weapon parts, so it was foolish to use the "teeth" configuration on the end of the beams, as they were easily disfigured when combined with normal Technic axles. -Even though of a mushy consistency, those same teeth SHRED the mushy axles of newer parts quite easily. It was a bad idea, and underhanded business practices made it all the more evil. Now those of you saying Bionicle... I don't think you'd want to see what condition Lego's finances would be at now had they not made that line. If you like the System you're seeing now, thank Bionicle's sales for it.
  16. Yah, and that makes me think he's not very much in control of things. That description there is of someone unexcited about their job... and that's usually a result of not agreeing with the bosses. It happens. I doubt he woke up one day and went, "OMG, what a GREAT idea I just had! Incoherent action scenes and no character developement! ...It's PERFECT!" ...Y'know?
  17. You're right... they feel so much better. Save anywhere, take screenshots, whip out value cheats, play fan bootlegs/hacks, no buying a second or third console to play foreign games, no tripping on cords, no clogging up the eletrical outlet with 900 systems, using 1-button keyboard macros instead of pulling off overly-complex fighting game moves on a controller... Fun, fun, fun! And best of all... especially referencing the NES console... no damn overheating / blue screen of flashing death!
  18. Then why'm I laughing? :-D Another good hoax was long overdue. It took me a few minutes, considering it was Zane, the early news gathering ninja. But within the hour I was posting on other Lego sites that it appeared fake. Toa Maxillos now joins his rightful place next to Voriki. ;-)
  19. Bionicle's far from the only franchise to get stricken with that disease. It happens to ALOT of initially cool things. Back in 1977, I was wondering what Obi Wan Kenobi meant by "the clone wars". But now that it's been fanboyed up with a poopy story containing just about every character that allegedly came much later... it's a piece of my childhood crapped on. DARTH VADER BUILT C-3PO?!? What? lol (Luckily, they were nice enough to remove "the young Han Solo swinging from vines on Wookie planet" scene present in the early script, but still. Whenever something gets big, this fanboy mentality creeps into the story. EVERY character is made to somehow connect with EVERY other character, etc etc till nothing seems special anymore. Everything becomes predictable, and when it's not predictable, you find that it was something totally far-fetched or boring. Anime has become insanely popular in the past 10 years. Alot of franchises dabbled in "anime" looks as a result. Now it's Lego's turn to dip their feet in it, in the form of Exo-Force and to a point, Bionicle. They're just trying to follow a market trend... which would be more ammunition to say that the presentation of Bionicle isn't in the hands of Greg as much as thought. Then again, that the same presentation reeks of "stupid westerners trying to be japanese" syndrome, who knows. Whoever's responsible, the anime feel, the emotion of the characters present in even the most mindless anime, is being represented in totally the wrong way. I doubt it's really an act to become "popular". It's not a glory thing. Unfortunately, it's likely part of his job description to be a question-answering ambassador on various Lego sites. Even more, by him answering questions, that particular site then gets to think they have bragging rights over "exclusive info"... that in turn makes Lego happy, for the site must adhere to certain levels of conduct that jives with what they want. Greg answers one kid's question and BAM! ...that site will now block accidentally leaked images. Greg answers another kid's question, BAM! ...that site will now candy-coat an official set review even if it blows. Greg answers another kid's question, BAM! ...that site now has no adult language. And if he stops answering questions, the site will have no need of him, Lego loses it's grip there, and Greg's in deep poopoo. On that note, I pity him. It can't be all that fun. I picture him these days as a guy sitting at a desk in a dark room, with an ankle chained to the chair and two dark forms standing behind him wearing suits. :-/ (Mind you, that image exists only in my head and may be 99% inaccurate lol).
  20. Yeah, right now, in the US, in a town in Pennsylvania where I live... ...they have a few Toa Inika, not even all the Barraki in stock, 2 different Spongebob sets, and a few of the ugly Technic crash cars. And that's annoying, for it'll probably look the same a month from now, after my money is gone elsewhere. *sigh* Hopefully their recent switches in production and corporate headquarters will lead to gaining #1 again.
  21. Like 007 said, it's pretty much correct in functional design... but aesthetically, the colored mishmosh on top of it looks fruity. I'm guessing that the final design is probably not what the set looked like initially by the designers. I dunno'... my gut tells me that cost-cutting parts substitution has taken place. Not sure why... it just looks watered down somehow. Yeah, the big giant base is kind of annoying, but it's a little bit more useful than your ordinary, 1-piece Lego ship hull. This one can be used as the base to some weird kind of building or something. Not a great set. Probably not worth the price. But not totally terrible, especially if you're a kid.
  22. No physical threats please, not even in jest. The biggest expression of harm has already been given in the form of complaints regarding his skills. Anything beyond that is just lawsuit territory. And rum hurts my stomach. Champagne for the win.
  23. That was fun. :-D
  24. I had to be my own Santa.
  25. I love it. In fact, I'ma go get me some now. X-D That was a cool vid... but the bottles some of the figs were drinking from... never saw those parts before.
