  1. Goodwill, For The Win. They have something good every year, guaranteed. Yes, UCS Batmobile. $10. Hot damn lol. The best run was back in 2001, before I had gotten into Lego or bought my first Bionicle set. Walking through Toys R Us, I knew that seeing the Steven Spielberg digicam movie studio sets at Goodwill for less than $30 was a good deal. I bought 2. (And one had been jam-packed with a bunch of smaller studios sets!). Then, a train set. Then 2 Millenium Falcons. Then a giant Darth Vader Tie Fighter. NONe of them were over $35... some were $15! Before I knew it, there was a huge pile of Lego before me. All in the time frame of about 4 weekly visits to Goodwill. X-D Actually, this should probably be in marketplace... moving.
  2. Might want to change the spelling inside project one. Specifically, it should read: "white sheet of paper". ;-) Wow... this stuff is so far over my head. I tried programming with it a few years ago, and got frustrated to the point of trading it. >__< Reading this, it was probably an action of haste.
  3. Like I said in a previous topic, the Mahri are like a dude jumping into the Amazon river, full of hungry piranha, with a machine gun or 357 Magnum. They're doomed. lol What you can't hit with fast skill, you try to compensate with quantity (of bullets) over quantity. I feel SORRY for the Mahri.
  4. No, no... these are just "placeholder" figures. The real ones weren't ready for display. It'll be changed by the time of set release. I do too. But my budget is limited... have to pick favorites.
  5. Whoof. This topic could use some closing now. It's degenrated simply from new set names into people brainstorming on different ways to say "I hate Gregf". If he's read this, he knows, he knows... :-D It's been expressed and addressed in specific depth a few times over. And since there's now pics to go with those names... Dead horse. Beaten. :-P
  6. They look frail to me. The Barraki are masters of their element, while the Toa are hooked up to life support devices. Look like they could drown any second. And big guns means they need to do some overkill in the weapons department, whereas the Barraki can get away with using goofy squids due to their skill and familiarity in that environment.
  7. What makes someone look "heroic" though? A muscley physique? A sword instead of a gun? I mean... fantasy stories aside, some pretty ugly bastards are often heroes in real life.
  8. Lol, well, the world would be boring if everyone had the same tastes. My problem with the spinners was not just that these were dollar store type junky toys, the kind of stuff sold in understocked supermarket "toy" sections, but the poor Visorak armor suffered for it. Because they had to include a notch for the zip-strips, the front of their faces were no longer symmetrical for mocing purposes... to say little of what their backs looked like. The good thing about these gatling guns is you can easily remove them... well, except for the one dude with no hand. :-|
  9. That 4958 Dino is AWESOME. I'm a sucker for black and lime together, but the spines there might be glow in the dark too. Aaaand it's remote controlled, with a roar. *wub*
  10. I know, I know, I saw the sarcasm. ;-) I liked the heads. The rest gave me a yeeshy feeling. :-D
  11. Gunmetal fingers... I have an unpublished moc that wants those. Yah, toa have looked pretty consistently different from each other time after time. I think these are ok toys, and slightly better as parts sets (as always). They're definitely better than the Inika, and I liked those too. True, but things like chaingun arms happen alot in scifi dealies. Same with that (immensely retarded... god damn I hate Marvel) Hulk Transformers-wannabe that was posted. It might not be liked by anti-gun dudes, but that look inevitably pops up alot in toy lines. No, these aren't abominations. The Hordika were abominations, going even beyond Lego trying to sell them by going, "No, really, they're SUPPOSED to be ugly, see? We MEANT to make them look bad, honest! Huurr huuuurrr!". These guys are welcome in my book.
  12. I'm glad you posted that. lol... I had a sinking feeling that the silver/green spines were intentional. Here's to hoping they're not. ::raises champagne glass:: And dear sweet lord, I do hope those are all a bunch of those newer all-the-way-through axle balls on Gadunka. I want 2 of him, if not 4. >__< And a second raise of the glass, hoping the gunmetal stays in. ...or maybe I just like champagne.
  13. I've been jumping between here on EB, In_the_Bricks, and FBTB all morning... then I went to BZ to see what they had. A press release? *wacko*. Wasn't anyone from there covering toyfair, digicam in hand? Oh, and white Takadox mask FTW. http://www.asmzine.com/toyfair07/gallery/L...s/IMG_6500.html As parts, alot of these sets are quite cool.
  14. I sympathize with ya' there, Shine. Gun metal was soooo cool. It worked with black and dark bley. I was hoping there'd be a heavy return of it somewhere. Pity. :-(
  15. Further, further... must go back fuuuurther! http://web.archive.org/web/20040211031906/...ting.ipsyn.com/ http://web.archive.org/web/20040803202645/...forum/index.php
  16. It's sad when any person dies, but man... she was a pretty despicable failure as a human being. She treated her oldie first husband like she was a monster once he said, "I do". The very last thing I want to hear about her is just this... what was she hiding about her child's father? Were they a creation of some of the old dude's sperm she had frozen, used after his death? Was it (egad) her recently deceased son's? Was it the cameraman's or Howard K. Stern's? And that's it. After that's answered, I never want to hear of the witch again. |-/ On an equally morbid note, anyone else watch her failed "resuscitation" video that one of the paramedics leaked? Icky, but still was oddly interesting to see.
  17. (The last picture appears to just be guys dressed in Star Wars costumes...?) Gadunka and Hahli are on my list, for sure. True, I might just want her for primarily for that partially trans mask, and Gadunka for HIS mask, but the extra doodads aren't that unenjoyable either. For the sake of mocing symmetry, it'll probably be two of each of these sets and that'll be it for my Lego budget a good while. Man... every time I see toy convention pics, and I mean ANY toy convention pics, it's always funny to see how the people setting up the displays mess up poses and even the assembly of action figures lol.
  18. Heh... I thought this was going to be another topic on those Lego-shaped 2x4 hard candies on eBay. These look like gummies. :-P
  19. http://maskofdestiny.com/archive.asp?i=1323 Hooray for the return of hard plastic masks! Well, I'm REALLY likin' this year. You? X-D
  20. Highly technical creations like this always shock me. They don't seem possible with Lego, but someone always manages to do it. Incredible stuff. 8-
  21. Indeed. I totally missed that initial topic though, so thanks. : p Closing.
  22. Fluorescent blacklight pics, taken by In_the_Bricks user Smeagol4: http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Smeagol4...6blacklight.jpg The spines don't look TOO glowy, but I still want'em. Hey... how many of those black balls does Nocturn come with? Those things are mocing gold.
  23. And once again, Howard K. Stern was present in the room for this death as well. Aaand a syringe was found in the room. >__< I was listening to Bubba the Love Sponge on Sirius Satellite radio today, and he made a good point.. Why is this chick so famous and all over the news anyways? Simply because she was A. A playboy model at some point, B. She was the epitome of the classic "gold digging woman" concept. He also said some other things, which I won't repeat (but agree with), but he made a good point... at least the news won't be messed up with pointless stories about her non-news-worthy life soon. :-|
  24. (copied from BZ) Truth be told, I had nearly no time to work on this. In fact, I only figured out what the technical feature would be 30 minutes before the end of the contest entry time. X D Be nice, this is my first time building an actual structure. :P --Eyes turn --Teeth swing down to dump 2 firey boulders down the staircase Victim, shadow assassins, Mordren, and one crazy undead doctor building a zombie. Gallery, when public: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=232750 I would've liked to had time to hunt through the bins and build some light gray rocks around the head tower, but, well... contest was closing. : / On a side note, not only did I whip the feature up a half hour before posting, but ALOT of the slopes were purple. I never unassembled / reassembled that fast on a moc, ever. (In case you're wondering, the contest called for a black and red castle / tower / medieval stronghold type dealie in red and black, alond with SOME kind of mechanical function.
  25. Me too. By having heads with actual emotions displayed, it added character to the figs. Up until I saw the ones in Alpha Team, I looked at Lego minifigs more as "children's learning toys", like the equally sterile Playmobil faces. No different races, nothing but "happy"... bleh. I don't like the fleshies, but I suppose they can be put up with if just used for licensed characters... though it'd be nice to have yellow versions as well. Anyway, I think this best sums up how mild the situation at hand is: http://www.bricklink.com/search.asp?viewFr...chSort=P&sz=100
