  1. Lol, what? I'm not complaining that there was advertising, just that too many people say, "So many people came out to see it... it must be good! Bay knew what people wanted then!" Lol, what? Did you actually see this movie? If you're missing such things that were blatantly out in the open, then what am I doing here discussing intricacies of the movie with you for?!? :-D Wow, cool. The last time I was at Forbidden Planet was in the LATE 80's, in New York City. Instant love for any place that had Godaikin robots lining the top of their bookshelves. *wub* I'm wondering (due to the coloring) if that's Starscream. I say that too because notice at the end of the gallery that Prime has a second version of his toy! (And thankfully with his faceplate in place). I want ALL of these figures... something I haven't felt for a line in a LONG time. Oops, scratch that... Megatron's alt blows. But still, I'm wondering what all the clear chests might be... a sparking or lightup action ...or merely just design? It seems kind of forced on some of them, so I'm guessing it relates to some action feature. (This one's arms seem to be not fully transformed at the shoulders...) http://tformers.com/ig.php?mode=view&album...ize=800&start=0
  2. Exactly. It was a melting pot that was aimed at pleasing (just about) anybody the fastest way possible, using the lowest common denominators. No, no, that was good. Just like Megatron ramming Optimus through buildings at the end was good. But the bad acting (they sure got cocky in RotJ, didn't they?) and the Muppets, and well, the Muppets...
  3. And while merely THAT would've pissed me off, the predominantly non-serious approach (just like in the American Godzilla)... no, not a non-serious approach... an absolutely CORNY attempt at making EVERY DAMN SCENE "funny"... THAT got me the worst of all. To say, "But dude... wasn't the G1 cartoon corny?". "Wasn't G1 non-serious?". Hell yeah it was, AT TIMES. But when they got serious... that's when it was at it's coolest. Imagine watching the original movie... Prime and Megatron are fighting. Now wouldn't you have walked out of the theater if, instead of Hotrod getting in the way and going, "N-No you don't, Megatron!"... he instead said, "Woah, Leggo my Eggo!"? That's product placement. And hopefully to a normal person, pretty forced dialogue. And what if, when Prime was downed for the last time, he said, "I've fallen, and I CAN'T GET UP!"... would that not be incredibly ridiculous and embarrassingly juvenile? Say what you want about G1, but they were NEVER shooting for a laugh-a-minute. Even in the funniest of funny episodes that were even at times unintentionally funny... they weren't TRYING to make EVERYONE sound STUPID. Because, as we ALL know, things that are popular with the majority of the masses are always GOOD things, yes? Sieg Heil! Or, do they merely pander to base instincts to achieve a quick, non-substantive rush? Explain to me then what made Paris Hilton, the Macarena and most celebrity news "popular" to the people. it's called a GIANT advertising budget. Not quality of product. And really, do you realize the media barrage that came months before this? I go to work, and there's 5 people sitting at my break table drinking Mountain Dew with Autobot and Decepticon symbols on it. THEN, the newspaper ads all have Transformers images in the electronics section, on tv and computer monitors. THEN, the classic rock station has a car ad with a bimbo chick asking "if the car comes equipped with energon cannons" and a father asks, "if the car runs on Allspark Cube energy". THEN, every website I went to at home had banners for the movie. Do you realize that those, combined with the fact the word "Transformers" was used... just how BAD this movie would have had to have been to not make a ton of money? Factor in too, that we're entering a world of robotics and technology, yet there's been like NO big-screen, live-action depictions going on? What was the last one in America... Robot Jox? Transformers filled a void and had assloads of advertising. But "good"? Yikes. Know what's funny? Lucas did 4, some of 5, and 6. Now, show me a Star Wars fan who doesn't think the 5th, Empire Strikes Back, was the best out of all 6. But guess who didn't like it... George Lucas. Because HIS hands weren't all over it. He's a pompous little man who makes money by turning the initially somewhat serious Star Wars franchise into an ever-increasingly BAD american cartoon. 4, 5... these were "good" movies. Then, when I was just a young teen, I saw 6, Return of the Jedi. I still liked Star Wars, but I felt uncomfortable at how "silly" it'd become. No, it went from being about one thing, then turned into something really, really, really SILLY. The first 2 Star Wars movies are not the last 4 that were released. It got insanely silly. Even Lucas himself said in a (British) interview, "American fans don't realize the Star Wars franchise is aimed at kids". Yeah, that was because, while being scifi and stuff in the first 2, it was undeniably "serious" at the beginning. But by Jedi, it was TONS of Muppets, TONS of cheesy dialogue... it was a mess. Jedi was able to be stomached if you blockout parts of it, but by episode 1, 2 and 3... holy geez... CRAP overload. That was the Transformers (2007) movie. Only instead of going from robots to people, it went from people to Muppets. I don't care about what cars everyone turned into. I don't care about flames on Optimus. I don't care that it wasn't a 100% retelling of G1. I don't care that Megatron's not a gun (lol). I don't care about product placement. I don't care that the robots weren't made of blocks connected by joints the size of toothpicks. I DO care that it's trying and failing to be Independence Day, American Pie and Dawson's Creek all at the SAME time. I DO care that the designs were SO drastic, that the robot (Frenzy) that did THE MOST WORK IN THE MOVIE, CAN'T EVEN BE TRANSLATED INTO A FREAKING TRANSFORMING TOY! Hello? At what point does it stop being "Transformers" again? I DO care that the story sucked. I DO care that every scene was an attempt at cheap humor. I DO care that their heads... hell, just their freaking recognizable likenesses couldn't all be emulated. Bleh, it was just a mess lol. Did I like any scene in it? ... ... ...the part where Megatron was ramming Optimus through a building. That was cool. But, we're talking just a few seconds here, aren't we? Saw it in the trailer. Saw it in the trailer (not that big a deal, either). And... meh. Read the script (which they TRIED to claim was "rough and unfinished", though it was nearly word-for-word and spot-on). Saw the designs. Saw the trailers. So yes, my mind was made up before seeing, for I had already seen it. But even at that, having given it a view, it would seem it was even WORSE than the copy I previously had collated in my head. Now, let's just forget about this crap movie and look up a few posts at those sweet, sweet, highly stylized new Transformers animated figures that Darth posted. Are they not beauty? Optimus's head may be a bit... freaky, but it sure beats the hell out of the last incarnation.
  4. Well, it should have been about robots blowing themselves up. Having actors executing a bad script did indeed detract from it. And no, they were not necessary. The comedy drove the nail into the coffin even further. It was just... yikes. I downloaded it, and seriously, I could only watch it once. Then I deleted it. Alot of parts were just so... stupid... that I'd look over at my wife and say, "Yeah... this isn't really what Transformers is", in order to validate with her the pile of robots I collected over the years in the basement. I know what he means by scrunching down in his seat, only I was just making embarrassed faces, wincing every now and then. My face hurt after it. No joke. http://www.vgcats.com/comics/?strip_id=241
  5. Yah, yah. The other sites of potential migration are a bunch of bells and whistles. They come with their own merits, but really fail to do what Brickshelf does in it's simplicity of browsing. Likewise though, if Brickshelf ever runs into trouble again, Kevin has GOT TO FREAKIN" TELL US! ...and I say that with love. *sweet*
  6. Had to go with the 8-wide. Sinner and Mr Muscle CLOSE seconds. *wub*
  7. Lol... I was WONDERING where the arm connections were. :-D
  8. Lol... I don't know why, but that made me think of this: http://youtube.com/watch?v=s_-rOZfJjY0 :-D

  10. Oh, if only he keeps up with the communication, so as to inform us in case it ever runs into financial trouble again.
  11. I dunno, man. Maj is like... Brickshelf. Except you can upload ANY other pics as well without them being deleted. ...God damn it. I'd love a statement from Kevin... describing to us his intentions for Maj's future and why he won't eventually kill this site.
  12. Your post was primarily annoying, because that same concern has been posed a few times already, in this thread even. As for that last part... I know what you mean, but I doubt it's going to happen. Rather, it may have already happened. Just in that Kevin has reopened Brickshelf so we could grab our galleries may be the way he says he's "sorry". He's notorious for being non-communicative to the tenth power. But he also made the CORE of the online Lego community for like a decade or so. So perhaps... he already did apologize? Like giving us one last go at it was his act of apologizing? See, he never speaks. The love (and at times, frustration) we have for him is solely in his acts. (Man, that was abstract). But yeah, I don't see why anyone would think Maj is a place that'll still be there, oh, 5 years down the road or so. I mean... he's just like that, y'know? Right-o. Not to diss Kevin, but it's the uncertainty of always being there that's scared the Lego community into looking into alternatives. Maj falls under the "uncertain", but it's logical to assume a place (and with a similar name) that's attempting to clone what Brickshelf was (simple and stable) will be the way to go, merely with more communication, updates and certainty of never going away.
  13. Oh, to be sure, it is quite a confounding situation we've witnessed the past few days. I wonder what people actually even WANT of a moc hosting site? Me, --Brickshelf's simple upload interface. --A button to jump to a biography of the creator. --Flickr ability to focus on a section of a pic and comment. --Flickr ability to post comments beneath image. --A bar above the image with like 5 pics of that moc's gallery... and arrows to let you scroll through them. --All that but without all the gobbledygook junk lining the screen like in Flickr *sigh* But for now, MAJ. If that goes down, I'll just reupload to Flickr, then MocPages, then whoever else (brickimage sounds promising), in that order. I'm sad. I was hoping I'd make it back onto page 1 of Brickshelf's "most viewed" page before it's doors closed. Oh well... guess that's what I get for going from a moc a month down to 2 mocs a year. :-D
  14. http://www.flickr.com/photos/61671941@N00/...57594483234435/ ::gets stuck looking at other stuff:: Flickr is alien to navigate for me. At the same time, I'm actually liking the commentaries. Maybe I'll migrate there. http://www.mocpages.com/user_images/123/11...JPG_DISPLAY.jpg Is that a Lego part, that hugeassed knife/sword? Loving this diorama... at first was put off by use of non-lego guns, only to realize they were merely cleverly constructed of smaller parts. The realism and detail in your environment(s) are freaking amazing!
  15. Hah! I only noticed this contest just now! The 22nd? I might be able to make it in. REALLY liking the 8-wide vehicle style. The 6 stud style is nice, but only for 1 driver.
  16. Indeed. I mean, do we even KNOW if it was over money? Like I've said before, you'd imagine there'd be people with philanthropist-like intentions who could've and would've shelled out. But as you said... communication. *wacko*

  18. Is that the same one that has 2 different versions due to a broken tabs defect?
  19. Well, that program that was previously posted in here is cool. It just grabs all the images out and drops them into a new folder... in seconds lol. The important thing is that you actually HAVE the space to save them all. (Something I don't have at the moment, but others already got mine for me).
  20. http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?m=Moko Moko is a no-brainer. *wub* http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?m=chingfat chingfat (EB member AlanYap?)
  21. Question... is it not possible that one or more entities may have mass-downloaded EVERYTHING that Brickshelf currently is... recreating either online or as one giiiiiant download?
  22. Dayum. So much happened to me today... and I came home to this. lol Hey Kevin... it doesn't matter if you're the real Kevin or not, for assuming the Peeron girl is real, then the real Kevin IS reading this right now. Thank you. I'm sad that for some reason, 100's of 1000's of links spread ALL OVER the internet are now going to leave topics just empty, dead shells. But what you've done for the Lego community up to this point... it's a staggering effect you've had. Thanks to you, SO many people were able to have a standardized interface, breaking down doors of wasted time otherwise spent trying to find stable hosting places. In doing so, you left people bothering with the important things... building and observing others building. It doesn't sound like much, explained in that way, but it couldn't be closer to the truth. NEVER have I seen something as stable and even better, simple to use than Brickshelf. I've launched a few harsh comments at you recently, and since they were correct appraisals, I take none of them back. But that's tough love too... and believe me, I LOVE you for what you've done. Your tiny act of creating an interface to upload images of a specific toy has brought an indescribable amount of happiness to many people in this world. I don't know the reasons this is happening, and I have no shame in theorizing, but it doesn't change my most important opinion of you... ...that you having lived on this earth has made it better than it would've been without you. Thank you, more than a long-winded post can convey. Oh, screwit... pics are better:
  23. Played around with it when it first began. DESPISED the interface. Same with Flickr. Same with EVERYWHERE not brickshelf. :-D The simple interface is godlike. No gunk all over the place, quick access to pics, never (well, usually) goes down.
  24. Yeah, and have fun buying a RED crab on Bricklink! :-D
