  1. I just came across this topic, and since my two fire engines back from 2009 were not indexed , I'd like to request it now Fire Engine 1 Fire Engine 2 Thanks!
  2. The gab between the wheels and the bottom of that headlight piece is indeed very small. But it's just enough for the wheels not to rub against anything (as long as all bricks are aligned well). Yes, I think that pretty much sums up how all the fire trucks here in Germany (actually in most of Europe) look like . Not as spectacular as their american counterparts, for example.
  3. Thanks everyone, I'm happy you like my creation. Just to clarify: this fire engine is also a german one, in fact it's basically the same kind of engine like my first MOC (more fire vehicles to come if I don't run short on time or bricks ) . As for the equipment, I really like to put all that stuff into the vehicle and I spent quite some time experimenting how to do it best . I think it's cool if a model isn't just accurate from the outside but also from inside. And I kind of agree with Rick77 that a combination of 6 and 7 wide seems just perfect for a minifig scale vehicle. But I don't see how to have two figs sitting next to each other in a 6 wide cabin without using those small standard wheels (wich I really dislike). Hence I choose to make it 8 wide. About instructions: I actually was thinking of doing some just for myself cause I won't be able to keep the MOC built up for long. Should I ever do instructions, I might as well put them online if there really is interest in it.
  4. Finally, pictures of the second floor! I must admit it's not fully satisfying my expectations, though. The stair's handrail is dissapointing, and I'm missing a carpet or a tiled kitchen floor like in Green Grocer. But what I really like is the fact that this is the first building with full interiour on all floors. The upper floors of GG contain just 1 to 2 pieces of furniture and seem much too empty to me, however the detailing of the bottom floor with it's tiling is still unmatched.
  5. V-LF-7C Hello everyone, since I've started doing my first MOC not long ago, I could not help myself and kept on building. So here is the result: a second version of the german fire engine I built previously. And this time it truly is in minifig scale! I had to reduce the crew from 9 to 6 firemen, but to my surprise a lot of the equipment I used with the vehicle's first version fits into the new one. So the model is still very functional, which I like a lot (hope I don't turn into a minifig equipment fetishist ). Brickshelf folder can be found here. Any comments will be appreciated!
  6. Now I just realized what seems to be missing on that building: it's a pitched roof with lots of red or black shingles. The bell tower on top looks a little bit lonely. I agree on that, the building would look more appealing at once if it had the colours of green grocer or cafe corner. But none the less, I like that fire station Like i said, there has to be some change to the usual pattern from time to time, or things get boring.
  7. Ahhhh! That's fantastic! What a great fire station, I can't believe it. It's just what I was waiting for. I love the interiour, given that the top floor is going to be like the description suggests, the inside will be the most detailed one of all the modular buildings. And that golden fire bell is lovely. Although I would have liked a modern fire truck better, the set seems perfect to me and I've already ordered it mentally. I agree that the outside is not as eye catching as green grocer, however it's not less detailed and I really like it. Also, I don't see a problem with the proportions since the bottom floor is a garage and thus it's naturally higher than the floor of a residential building. Personally, I would find it a bit boring if all the modular buildings had the same "art nouveau" like architectural style. This fire station looks a bit more sober, and I think that's ok for a public building. And I really would like to see that ping pong table, too
  8. Well, actually... no I guess I'll have to do a digital version of it anyway for the time being... That's exactly the point. My engine certainly does not fit into a whole city layout (except there is an army that could use it as a tank maybe ). As a kid I was always a bit annoyed by the lego fire trucks having no more than one fire fighter sitting inside. I was a big fan of fire fighters and rescue services (I still am as you might have figured out), and because my lego city happened to have huge disasters quite frequently, a LOT of fire men were needed. But every single one of them coming to the scene by his own car? Imagine that in real life... And btw. Ralph, I really like the vehicles you created, especially that british fire engine and ambulance!
  9. Thanks, rest assured that I will post the result here when it's done... some day... probably...
  10. Thank's for your comments, I'm glad you like it. The main reason for the colour sheme is that the window pieces I used for the cabin can only be found in white colour. But as Rick77 pointed out, you can find an example of a white/red fire truck in the brick shelf folder. I agree, but I really wanted to have all 9 of the fire men inside the vehicle I'll have to redo it in true mini fig scale, and I'm dreaming of a modular fire station that could house several of them... I'd like to build it like this one I saw in Finland:
  11. V-LF-7B Hello everyone, I'd like to share with you the very first MOC I created after I've recently come out of my dark ages. It's the model of a german fire engine that is used in almost every fire department in Germany. In reality, the vehicle is manned by 9 fire men, forming an autonomous tactical unit called a 'group'. And because I wanted my model to be very close to the real thing, I decided to make it 10 studs wide so that 3 minifigs can fit in side by side. Because of this, it grew slightly out of minifig scale (maybe I'll do an 8 wide version of it some time). I focused much on the interiour and the equipment that is carried by the vehicle, I guess there is quite some room for additional detailing on the outside. You can check out more pictures on brickshelf. There you will also find some reference images as well as prove of the versatility of this excellent fire engine (apparently german fire fighters aren't the only ones who appreciate it...) I hope you like the MOC, feel free to ask any questions and let me know what you think about it.
  12. ... sell him a pink droid disturbingly resembling the look of a walrus, and Stan...
  13. This thread is very interesting to read for me, as my own dark ages ended just a couple of weeks ago! When I was 13, I felt I would be to old for playing with lego, I remember 6479 being the last set I got for christmas in 1998. I decided to abandon the beloved brick, and at first it wasn't easy. But when other hobbies filled the gap, I lost the interest in it. And then there were computer games of course! They totally absorbed me for a quite long time. Occassionally I grabbed a Lego catalogue in some store, feeling ashamed, though. But there was nothing to bring me back, since around 1998 the qualitiy of Lego began to decrease rapidly, especially with all that junior crap. The only theme I considered to be still "real" Lego was Star Wars, but I only bought one of those (7130) as my very last set, already being in the dark ages. I don't know anything of what Lego did after 2002, and beeing busy with school and later with studies, I totally forget about it. Until recently, I came across the peeron website, providing scans of old Lego catalogues. Seeing all those pictures woke lots of old memories, and so I ended up buying many old sets at ebay that I always wanted to have but never got as a child :) . I spent way too much money on it, it was indeed a Lego shoping spree :-o . But I managed to end it (that is, for the time being). Now my huge old Lego collection probably won't stay long at my parent's flat anymore...
