Awesome work bricksboy, that model is very true to the original! I love the brick build doors, your Bus even tops the one made by Ralph S. quite a while back. Is there a reason why bikes are transported at the front instead of at the back?

What's missing is a guy in a sleeping bag who is first in line Nice effect on the store front, and that trash bin reminds me of the classic gas 'n wash express, one of my favourite town sets!

Well, I was quite excited for that car park, since the Metro Park & Service Tower back then was always a favourite of mine which was out of reach for ever due to its price. It was the first set I got when coming out of my dark ages... But that modern reincarnation of it looks a bit underwhelming to me. I think there is too much focus on the vehicles and not enough substance to the building itself. Why is that gatehouse on the first floor, shouldn't it be on the ground level? As for the hospital, I also find that underwhelming, even more so . 6380 until this day is still the best hospital Lego made imo.

Rumors and speculation: Haunted House Modular
BrickBox replied to forumreader's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Very interesting, but I'm still hesitant to believe that it's an actual modular building. It just seems so out of place there. Unless Lego decided to branch out the modular series into other, non-city themes... What's next, a modular space base? Now that would be awesome, wouldn't it -
Rumors and speculation: Haunted House Modular
BrickBox replied to forumreader's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
You're right, it could be a modular corner building, but then again, CC and GE have the entrance right at the corner, and this one seems to have a normal front facade with a less detailed side to the right. Anyway, it doesn't seem to fit with the rest of the modulars imo. But since it looks quite big and more detailed than regular sets, my guess would be it's either some kind of exclusive, or like you said they built it as part of a backdrop for exhibitions/Legoland or something like this. -
Rumors and speculation: Haunted House Modular
BrickBox replied to forumreader's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Yes, it definitely looks like a haunted house, probably it's the 'big' set for the monster hunters line? I say it's not a modular for sure, because it seems to be detailed at all sides, like a normal play set. Unlike the modulars, who always have flat, undetailed sides with technic pins so they can be connected to each other. There's also no sidewalk in front of the building. -
Sweet. The elevator is an interesting feature and allows for those open balconies at the inside instead of the usual staircase. I like that very much. But why has the mayor a frog sculputure on his desk? Am I the only who thinks this is weird Regarding the price, I must say it's very fair. They just raised it as much as necessary to make up for the additional pieces. 180€ for 2760 pcs is on the same level as 150€ for 2200 pcs, so I won't complain.

I very much like the bay window and the staircase design. And the apartement is just lovely, I want to live there! With a bakery down below, what more can you ask for? I must admit, though, that the 32wide version of your building is more impressive from the outside, like L@go and the dutch guy already pointed out.

Thanks again everyone for you comments! Thanks for this little english lesson, much appreciated! You bet I will I'm thinking of doing a heavy rescue next. I don't think I will make any stickers, I'm not a big fan of them. But even if I was, all I could do were paper printouts or drawings. You're right about the ladder basket, it should fold up instead of down and be put over the ladder. However I don't know exactly how this mechanism works, and I don't think I could figure out a way of building it from bricks at this scale I've also uploaded my LDD file for the ladder here for anyone interested in it.

LDD file for my fire engine MOC
BrickBox replied to BrickBox's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Sorry for bumping, just wanted to say that I'm planning to upload any LDD files I have in this thread from now on. I just added the lxf for the turntable ladder (see first post for link): -
Aha, I've missed that option until now. Very helpful, thanks!

Impressive, that trucks looks really cool and menacing! All those angles and curved shapes give it a lot of dynamic. But I have to say you kind of missed the initial goal of making it look like Blacktron I think there needs to be more 'Space' about this truck, maybe more trans-colored pieces? Off topic: those renderings don't seem to be made with LDD, did you use some third party program for that, or did you build the whole thing in MLCAD instead?
-
I don't mind so much the number of 'waves', but as vexorian said, one-wave themes used to stick around for several years in the past, like Ice Planet or the Divers sub-theme of the city line. I find it rather unfortunate that new themes tend to vanish after just one year in production now. But I guess it's a consequence of having more new themes every year and Lego not wanting their own themes to compete with each other too much.

Welcome kiepkip, enjoy your time on Eurobricks! Stop by at the town forum from time to time, you'll find lots of trucks there, too

Those are some cool Pick-ups, the snow plow is my favourite. I have to admit, though, that I find the front mudguards to be a bit too high, especially at the first and the third fire truck it looks somehow odd to me. Has the real vehicle actually the same feature?
-
There is a front door, have a closer look a picture no. 4. I quite like this house, especially the little garden at the back. The official modulars are all very bland at the back side. About the roof: maybe you don't have to lower it if you added some little windows at the front side?

Thanks everybody for your comments, much appreciated! Thanks EM4CZ. And indeed, that's exactly what it's supposed to represent. Thanks ER0L, the front was the first part I designed. It makes the whole model very recognizable I think, and I've chosen the original Iveco model because of this. I also find the front of those Iveco trucks to be kind of cute, especially the old ones from the 80s/90s This was also the first time that I didn't use one of the Lego wind shields. This really adds a whole lot of additional freedom in designing the vehicle, and it takes away that somewhat generic "Lego truck" look. Even though it can be tricky to find a feasable solution for a custom wind shield. I'm not much of a photographer, but I figured I'd try something more 'involved' this time, seems like it worked out. Glad you like it SwissBrick! I didn't intent to cause anyone vertigo, though Thanks lightningtiger. I went through several iterations of the ladder platform before I ended up with the final version, which I'm quite happy with. By the way, is 'water nozzle' what fire fighters actually call that water dispensing thing on the ladder platform? I'm still rather clueless when it comes to translating some of the technical terms of "fire fighting business" from german to american/british/australian/whatever english...

V-LF-8F Hello fellow town inhabitants, I'd like to share with you my latest fire related MOC: a turntable ladder. It might look a little odd at the front, because this vehicle is a low-profile construction. This is supposed to allow navigation in urban areas, where there are many passages with low height (like old town gates for example). Here you can find an example of such a ladder truck. It might not be visible on the pictures, but the struts on opposite sides are offset by one brick relative to each other. This way there is enough room in the middle to have the struts slide out at the sides by a significant length. A little bit of cheating, but it's only really noticable when looking at it from a bird's eye view. The ladder and turntable are not very sturdy, they've come apart countless times already when fiddling with the model. Also, the ladder tends to collapse under its own weight when deployed at a low angle and with full length (there are six individual ladder parts). But none the less, it works and I'm happy how it turned out. Please let me know what you think of it, any critique and comments are most welcome! Edit: LDD file for the ladder can be found here Lego turntable ladder fire truck (01) von Outolintu. auf Flickr Lego turntable ladder fire truck (03) von Outolintu. auf Flickr Lego turntable ladder fire truck (04) von Outolintu. auf Flickr Lego turntable ladder fire truck (05) von Outolintu. auf Flickr Lego turntable ladder fire truck (06) von Outolintu. auf Flickr Lego turntable ladder fire truck (07) von Outolintu. auf Flickr

Ha, I like that idea a lot! Blacktron have always been the coolest guys around in Lego Space imo (though I never had opportunity to pick up some of those sets myself back then). The truck looks really promising, I'm curious how it will turn out. And don't forget to add some yellow and trans red into the mix as well Thinking of it, you know what would be really cool? If this truck was hauling some kind of prototype Blacktron space rocket!

Very nice review Rufus. I also enjoyed your Car+Camper review previously a lot, your texts make for great entertainment . And I do like this garbage truck a lot, Lego did a great job in resembling a Mercedes Econic, this truck is just lovely. I will definitely get this set at one point or another, it's also a good opportunity to to get one of those large wind shields in a less expensive set.

Congratulations to everyone, the winners are well deserved. Also big compliments to everyone else who didn't make it to the top 10, all the entries were fantastic and I had a really hard time in choosing my votes.

I'm not a big fan of hearts and stuff, but the close up of the buffet table sure makes me want to get some cookies for myself now Great work!
-
I agree, it's much improved now. I like the new balcony (what I called 'jutty' previously) above the front door, that really makes the front look more interesting. And gutter or not, but I would at least make the left half of the roof stick out by one stud, just like the right half above the balcony. Also, the small white fences on top of the roof are somehow sticking out now, maybe replace them by black ones (but I guess you don't have them in that color)? It fits in very nicely with the other modulars, I like it .

Very nice, I like the front of the building, especially the windows on the first floor. But the class room seems a bit odd with the stairs leading right into it. Maybe you could rotate the stairs by 90 degrees and move them to the outer left side of the first floor, then add a wall between them and the class room?

Well done Myko, looking at this scene really makes me feel sad. This is the first MOC I've seen which approaches the matter of life and death in such a serious way. Not sure about the yellow courtains, though. They don't work well with the tan walls imo. How about dark green instead? Green is also the color of hope...
