Yes, that would be even better. Because I don't normally buy straight copies of LEGO figs since I buy all of the Marvel ones. Only few exception are when they do something slightly different (like Falcon from Civil War is a perfect example -- the bootleg was far superior, better design, leg print -- just better than the original hands down).

Haha, I'm not saying bootlegs are going to disappear overnight! And they better not! Because I plan to buy a lot of them over the next couple of years :) But what I am saying is that this could be the beginning of the end. Maybe bootlegs will shift their strategy and simply avoid copying LEGO themes directly -- but LEGO have now begun their offensive against bootlegs make no mistake. At any rate, that's my view... bootlegs may likely shift to another manufacturing center anyway in a few years time like Vietnam... but in China, I think the days may be numbered.

You're not seeing the bigger picture here. Tencent is not some no-name company. Firstly, it is a tech Giant with a capital G. How Giant? $600BN company with a market cap that surpassed Facebook last year. Yeah, that FB. Tencent is now larger than 99% of US companies by market cap -- in fact there are only a handful larger -- Apple, Google, Microsoft. That's about it. Let that sink in for a moment because you (and a lot of people outside of Asia) probably have never heard of Tencent. Perhaps it's because I live in Asia that I know that if there is one non US company poised to join the ranks of Google, FB and Amazon -- it's Tencent. The rise of Tencent cannot be underestimated. On any given trading day, Tencent is now one of the top 5 most valuable companies (in the world!) by market cap. Why is this important? Well, it's because people read Tencent and *shrug* and say who? Well, they have massive clout in China and Asia (more on that later). Why do you think LEGO has teamed up with them? Because they care so much about digital gaming? (meh -- maybe at the margin, perhaps). There is another reason. A very strategic one. Because you can be sure that there was some agreement that Lego would get some onshore support to combat piracy of its brand (read: bootlegs). How does teaming up with Tencent achieve that? Because this strategic partnership means that Lego is now a Tencent partner and by extension a part of their branding. I cannot stress just how important potential global champions are for China. Tencent is on a very short list and I would argue THE leading candidate (not Alibaba). If they really wanted, China could crush the bootlegs out of existence. It's only a matter of motivation and political will. And the Chinese are shrewd at business (perhaps the shrewdest?). Tencent absolutely, positively knows why LEGO wants to team up with them. They get it and they will deliver. Because from China's perspective, when you are trying to build up a global leader, you can't have the stink of bootlegs follow you around. At a minimum, this will be an interesting story to watch closely. Personally, I think it's a brilliant strategic move in my view. Do you disagree?

How is that different than, say, Star Wars? How many versions of the Falcon or the X-Wing have we had? Some ships are iconic to their lines (Quinjet and Milano being the obvious ones for the MCU). I love the fact that we get variant versions, but to each their own I suppose. Actually with Disney purchasing Fox, I hope we get the Fantastic Four and the Fantasticar at some point.

Btw, RIP to all of those who kept saying that the figure in the bright orange torso wasn't Shuri and was a fig from the Han Solo set... man, I've known this since last month but people just refused to believe because some random Star Wars blogger said it was...

Geez, this thread confirms that you can't please everyone! The Cull Obsidian Big Fig is fantastic, new mold and for my money the best overall of the entire IW wave. With Gamora being the best minifig.

The color scheme is light olive green similar to the Green Goblin big fig or the AoU Hulk. No printing on the arms unfortunately. Legs have boot print (looks dark grey or black)

I've seen the Cull Obsidian big fig and can confirm @SpiderJazz take: this is the highlight figure of the entire IW wave. Looks fantastic. Gamora is the best minifig of the wave IMO. Can't wait for the Sanctum.

The number of old (re-used) figs for IW is really disappointing: - Rocket R. - Star-Lord - Vision - Bruce Banner (still need a solid confirm on this) - Black Panther (granted its a "newer" variant, but still its a re-do from his Movie set) - Doctor Strange (yeah he gets a new hairpiece -- big whoop -- everything else is identical)

Most definitely. Initially I had thought about MOD-ding Loki's staff, but couldn't be bothered. Still wish we had leg printing, but am glad to get a new variant nonetheless.

Yeah that was my quick MOC spear I made from a trident (clipped the outer prongs). I hope we get an official one.

Happy New Year all! For those that have seen the Gamora next to the other fig (in orange), I can confirm this is Shuri. I know there have been reports that this is a fig from the Han Solo set (which might be true) but nonetheless it is Shuri.

Is the general consensus that this Mark variant is a battle damaged one rather than designed to look like this?
