MOC Johnny Thunder set -Hero's Tower
Graynar replied to Graynar's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Well it took a few hours to get the glue off. *n* That is a good point! I'll have to remember that! *y* -
MOC Johnny Thunder set -Hero's Tower
Graynar replied to Graynar's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Thanks for the comments! I have made a pretend castle theme. But those pics are not in my Brickshelf folder. Currently, I only have the JT sets being made. I will probably make other themes as well. *y* I really need to dig up those castle pics, they're about a year old. I did once, but I don't have stickers, so I glued the torso's to the minifigs. (Not something I'm going to repeat 8- -
Looks great! Funny, I've always seen you make vigs lately, so I'd forgotten you can build great MOCs not vig scaled. Do I see some characters from your jellybean comic? ;-) You should make a custom sail for the ship, or a LEGO one, it's difficult sometimes, but it might look cool. :-)

MOC Johnny Thunder set -Hero's Tower
Graynar replied to Graynar's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Thanks for the replies! Yeah, I got to put one in the next set. Maybe that's why they didn't like it over at CC, needs to be more TLCish. Me to, I miss that visor piece -only ever having one. :-/ Thanks! -
Hey guys, I've been busy lately -with LEGO projects! I've begun a new weekly comic strip! This is a humorous strip involving 2 characters as they discuss LEGO. (Oh and just ignore the Lemon's part for now. ;) Meet Maria and Ryan I believe it is public. Hope you enjoy it! Please tell me what you think of the comic!

As part of the JT (Johnny Thunder) revival, realizing we may never see him return in LEGO for real, I have started a pretend theme on him as he visits the land of castles. With some old villains, and a new one. This set would probably be 49.99 American or 69.99 Canadian. With 475 pieces, and 8 figures, (9 if you include the skeleton). Figures Not a bad looking tower... A side shot of the tower The back side, showing the interior and 4 levels. (The second floor was cut open for playability.) Interior The whole bottom floor can be moved with your hand as you send Johnny to his dea- umm into danger. Floor trap To get from level to level, JT can use the chain to go up, but he has to watch out for the ax. Ax trap and chain elevator Where's the treasure? Observe my insane sneakyness... Every JT set has to have one of these... The Tank Insert the dynamite into the tank and... ...KABOOM! Awesome troop truck The accessories The folder The first set. The whole JT land of castles gallery Hope you enjoyed it! Please tell me what you think of it. More sets to come...

Johnny Thunder and the Key of the castle dock
Graynar replied to Graynar's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Thanks for the comments! In my opinion and By the way. Can't agree more. It can be hard to build like TLC. For example -people built MOCs are often much more detailed, sometimes a bit fragile. LEGO doesn't normally build super fragile sets, and try to limit their piece usage. That's always taken into consideration, even if the gattling gun wasn't :-/ -
Johnny Thunder and the Key of the castle dock
Graynar replied to Graynar's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Thanks! It's always intresting when you cross differen't themes into one another. Meh, it was just for fun and something new. JT needed some new weaponary. Just a filler, like something TLC would make. Me to, though not many people seem to be that intrested... 8-| -
There's been lot's of discussion on the end of JT (Johnny Thunder) themes and I always wanted to see a JT theme of Johnny in a castle theme. So I created a new villain, and started making some new sets. (Pretend of coruse) I hope you enjoy this set, I hope to make some more with the big set being a big castle. ;-) So here's the first set: 19.99 $ American or 29.99 Canadian. (Sorry, I don't know what the Euro conversion is) With 172 pieces and 5 figures: The figures, (the two blue coats are the dock security) The trap door Ax trap Johnny facing his enemy for the key to the castle Hidden ruby My old school helicopter (tried to make it look old fashioned) with a side gattling gun. The other side of the copter (note: it can hold all of the pilot's accessories) The whole set's accessory inventory The folder Please tell me what you think of the set. :-) BTW: I wasn't sure if this was for the MOCs section or here, so move if you want.

HISTORIC ACCURACY or FANTASY in LEGO's history lines ???
Graynar replied to Brick Miner's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Well said. I also agree. TLC has to cope with kids turning away from LEGO because of video games. It's tough for LEGO as kids want more action causing TLC to create more "playable" less buildable sets. Kids just want action these days, hence the lovely mass production of catapults, action based weaponary, light bricks (and figs), and juniourized pieces. That's one of the reasons we lost quality sets and themes. KK2 is very fantasy like, and it helps to add more playability with magic and truely un-historical things like the wheeled knights of the jousting set. I believe TLC's going deeper into the fantasy age all the time, we're losing the historical/fantasy based sets, and becoming all fantasy. *n* If I were to chose which were better I'd say a little of both history and fantasy in sets, good set design and quality. Good topic by the way. *y* -
My bad, I meant other than pirate ships. *wacko* That's what I meant lol. *y*
-
I was refering to real life ships. British man-at-arms had large crews and such. Unless you're also refering to real life ships and making me confused.
-
LEGO is not normally to perspective. The pirate ships have a crew of 8 when real pirate ships have 800 (aproximate numbers) The Eldorado fortress comes with 4 soldiers, 1 commander, and the general. So in pretend terms it's a fortress of about 500 soldiers in relation to a pirate ship with 800. If this made sense, and we went by these facts, the fortress would be a fair size, compared to the other smaller forts. Of course, the rowboat of two pirates included in this set, don't really fit the equation.

Nice review, but where's Robin's yellow cape? Or did the set not include one?
-
Old base plate? Old black classic castle wall pieces? Bull shield? Tortured skeleton? New KK2:3 figs. Pearl battle at the pass helm. This is indeed strange. But if real, I think CC will be doing back flips over this treasure. *y* Thanks for the find! Anyone else see the majisto wizard dude?

Who wants to look at the Arkham comic when....
Graynar replied to reideen1313's topic in LEGO Licensed
Aw come on! It's not that bad. Considering other 2000 and up sets this isn't too bad. It's a great contribution to the Harry Potter Grave yard duel set. Haunted house indeed, still, a very nice set. Good pieces, not much juniorization, I'm impressed. *y* -
I disagree. This set is a step in the right direction minifigures and siege weapon wise. But not building wise, I agree on the juniorization. But still, it's not as bad as Mega block garbage. *n*
-
Nice battle scene. I was wondering if TLC's blue coats and Red coats were part of the same team. AKA the Imperial guards. I always thought they were opposing forces though...
-
Thanks for the resized pics! This looks like a really fun set. Lando's helmet is truely awesome. My only complaint is the lack of more of Jabba's soldiers on the barge. *n*

Thanks for another great review! This is a great price for 6 figs! Imagine this set released today -I bet it'd make a lot of money. ;-)
-
Great review! I'd love to have a set like that. I really don't mind the colors, but I do mind the price. The figs are great, kings only bother me if they're completely useless. And he's not bad, just ditch the crown. There's a surplus of shields, a nice flag, a goblet, 2 horses, and a chest. I think it's a good set. 8 out of ten bricks.
-
Nice! I've seen the whole movie on the website. Nice sig, I'm impressed and entertained.

What sets do we know are coming out next?
Graynar replied to Sting's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Is the Arkham Asylum a confirmed set to be released? What is this set by the way? The Batman jail or something? Or is it his batcave? -
Minifigs are expensive. Lately, town sets have had practicully no figs. A 80 doller set (hospital) had only 4 figs. LEGO's biggest castle (Vladeks dark fortress) hade 8. Compared to older 90's castle sets, that's sad. Also, minifig packs can lead to more people buying them than the bigger sets. Losing a profit. My two cents.

It's very annoying. We live right beside the USA and get some of the worst LEGO prices. I've yet to expierence shop at home internet pricing, but I've ordered by catalouge. Still have to pay by shipping and that doesn't help. I should move to the states where LEGO is cheaper. Then I could buy the airport...
