This review will be on the 8214 Lamborghini Polizia They always think they can outrun the Polizia. Not even close. Set Name: 8214 Lamborghini Polizia Theme: Racers Released: 2010 Pieces: 801 Price: $59.99/$51.16 EUR/45.96 GBP Here are some quicklinks Lego.com, Brickset, Bricklink Wanna see some pictures? Let's start with the normal box arts and manuals! Box art front Very nice box art. I love the street they put the car on. Very authentic. I could imagine how rough it would be to drive a car like that on a road like this. Yes, it's a real car. Look on the passenger door. You can even see the the police warning stick. Box art rear Again, Lego went to great lengths to keep the photos looking good. Even while showing the interior, they had it shot with a nice bacground. Manual cover Parts bags Parts lists Sticker sheet Random photos Oh yes. This product was given the "ok" by Lamborghini. I LOVE that little hologram sticker. I wish I could have one to stick somewhere besides on the box. Extra pieces The long blue piece is NOT extra. It's the rear spoiler that I lost and then found. And when I found it, I had it mixed with the extra parts photo. Build Process- Now I suppose you want to see how this beauty of a car gets put together? You're wish is my headache. To save space, I grouped it in 4s. Follow it by going left to right on each line. In the bottom right photo you can see the interior taking shape. Including the bottom of the seats and the emergency brake handle. Now you see the rear diffuser. I kind of like it where the rear center brake light is. Yup. Those grey studs are gonna hold the rear bumper. Another good use of snot. This is actually different than the engine found in the #8169 Yellow Lamborghini. While this car looks VERY close to that other Lambo, Lego did good in making things different enough to keep people from thinking they just bought the same car in a different color. I'm not sure what the orange cone is for. But you can see a emergency kit and another box for something. Both of which are totally hidden once you build the car unless you move the seatback forward. Good detail there. Bottom left panel you can see the hidden blue lights on the inside of the car. While many hate stickers, I think the sticker used for the rear of the car is done well. Unlike the Yellow Lambo where they used stickers for the front lights. Good view of the inside of the car. Notice you can't see the hidden gear behind the seats, although you can now see the emergency hand wand on the passenger door. Yes, that is a very red bull horn in the front boot. Bottom right panel shows how the roof lights are oriented. Top right panel shows there is a CAMERA to catch what the Polizia is chasing down. Yes, this is a organ box. Hmm.. What organs would be a red and white studs in a minifig? :) Finished photos Top view. Very nice lines. I still don't like how much the rims make the wheels stick out of the car. Front angle. Front view. The front spoiler is different than that on the yellow Lamborghini. I love the lights. They finally figured a way to make them without using stickers. Side view. Yes, I'm SORRY. I don't have the POLIZIA stickers on the side of the car. It's too ugly. I know it's on the real car, but I just couldn't do it. Rear quarter view. Yes. I know the rear spoiler is missing. It was lost when I took the shot. Rear view. Sweet. I wouldn't mind driving behind this all day. Inside view. You can see a closer view of that emergency hand wand. And yes, don't think too hard that there is no "dash". Lego could've given stickers for the dash. I wish they did. Hood open. Now you know where they stick the organ donor box. Everything open. Bonus photos. Group shots of the 8214 and 8169 Lamborghini cars. You can see how the front spoiler are different from each other. The stickers used for the headlights are nice, but its wrong! They should've spent a little more time and made them out of Lego. Ok. I guess you can't see how the engines are different. But besides the engine block, they are put together differently. Honest. Final rear shot. Same but different. Lego had enough time to iron out the little things on the car design to make it more polished on the Polizia car. Comments: I love replicas. And I like it when Lego makes them without getting too technic-y. Like those of the Ferrari cars. But they are nice in their own right. No working steering. Not suspension. But I would rather have the "photo" look than the technic look they would have had to do to make those options. I hate that Polizia sticker on the side. But I know it belongs. It's MY car so there. I hope you still like the review. My rating Playability: 4/5 This is playable. It's more of a static model, but everything that opens, does. Design: 4/5 Much better than the yellow Lamborghini. But still they used stickers for the rear lights. Although nowhere near as tacky as stickers for the front lights, some purest would say Lego should've made the rear lights out of lego. Build experience: 3/5 It says it's for ages 9+. I think it could be built by younger kids. But I think it was made for older people. Example: My son of 8 years of age, likes the car. But only because it's a car. Not because of how detailed it is or that it's a Lamborghini. Overall: 5/5 If you love cars, this is a must have. I wouldn't pay $80 for it as some stores are charging, but it's worth the MSRP. Car talk for Manufacturer Suggested Retail Price. Thank you for reading, I hope you enjoyed it! All photos are click able for larger, bigger-than-life picture sizes! If you like it, check out my flickr site. Here is a direct like to my: 8214 Lamborghini Polizia.

Review: 8099 Midi-scale Imperial Star Destroyer
starstreak replied to starstreak's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Mr. Hobbles- I.... wouldn't have enough bricks to build the Executor Super Star Destroyer. 11x the size of the MID ISD? Woah.. -

Thanks! Oh that's one I think I know. The white pieces give the "white" outline for the landing bay on the underside. -

Yup. as per my review, they do like to pop off. Consider it blown off by the rebellion. :) -
This review will be on the 8099 Midi-scale Imperial Star Destroyer So evil that even the command tower looks like a skull head. Set Name: 8099 Midi-scale Imperial Star Destroyer Theme: Star Wars Released: 2010 Pieces: 423 Price: $39.99/$31.16 EUR/25.96 GBP Here are some quicklinks Lego.com, Brickset, Bricklink Wanna see some pictures? Let's start with the normal box arts and manuals! Box Art Front Special Edition. I have no idea why except that only select stores will carry this. It does look very nice. I like the 2010 box colors. They stand out more. Box Art Rear Besides filler, I don't know why LEGO choosed to display the parts list on the back. Pretty much there are no special parts, so anybody with a million LEGO pieces could make it now. That's like the pot calling the kettle black... Lol. Lets see how many of you caught on to that joke. Manual Front Cheat. They used the same as the box cover. Parts Bags Parts List Random Page Wow, actual dimensions. I wish they gave a mini UCS plaque to go with this. Oh that black thing on the bottom is the built-in stand. Extra Pieces Build Process I still have no idea why LEGO likes to put weird colored parts in builds that shouldn't have BLUE or RED in them. Oh BTW, this was a very important step. The piece folded in half, and now you have studs facing up and also facing down. Here is a good shot of the first quarter being put on. You can see how there are some greebles (Small parts used to give detail.) Like the little claws at the nose of the ship. Here are the unstable dishes you'll here me mentioning in my closing. Now why did LEGO use those antennas? Technic to the rescue! LEGO used the antennas to fit into the Technic part to hold the rear thrusters on the back of the Destroyer! Only one more quarter to put on. The white colored "claws" are used to hold each of the quarters together. How simple is that? The command tower just clicks right on the top of the blue brick. Wha? Is that a head I see? The final quarter done. See finished photo below for completed shot. Finished Photos Top front- While the photo does make it look like an arrow head, slender and long, it's wider than the picture makes it out to be. Top rear- I'm amazed how LEGO find parts that actually look like parts that belong. Like the small balls to copy the radar domes (whatever they are) on the movie Star Destroyer. Rear angle- Here is a good shot showing the engines. Amazing how they added the engines to something that is all about SNOT. Side profile- Look how the LEGO undersides lends to side fold to almost make it look like greebles. Even the side canons. Nice move using Wall-E eye's parts. Inside joke. Move along. Underside- The black rectangle is actually inside the ship. I wish I had a mini-Blockhead runner to fit in there. The Black horizontal tube is actually upside down "T" stand. Not really meant to be taken off. Top view- Very symmetrical in shape. At least in this view you can see how wide it really is. Comments: This is a very good design and it holds itself well together. Know what SNOT is? No, it's not what comes out of your nose. Well, yes. But not in this case. SNOT stands for Studs Not On Top. Which is how I tend to build MOCs. But LEGO in the hands of masters, SNOT can make a very plain looking design, something very realistic and not so much like LEGO. This set has studs on the top, underneath, and even in the rear! Although the design was simple (The Star Destroyer), I could imagine the headache the creator at LEGO had in trying to dream up how to make the unit hold together when it really shouldn't be able to. My rating Playability: 4/5 This is playable. Very swooshable. The only part that falls off a lot is the thrusters. Design: 5/5 I don't think they could've made this much better without making the unit cost more than people are willing to pay. Oh the thrusters I mentioned above.. If you look at what piece they used (only choice) it's not a solid part that likes to stay on other parts due to its dish shape. Build experience: 3/5 It's made for ages 9-14. My son can build this. He's 8. I think they made it into the higher age group because it's more of a "model" than something that plays well with other LEGO sets. I mean, there's the Midi-Millennium Falcon. But it's not to scale for this midi-sized Star Destroyer. Overall: 4/5 I think this would make a great set if you love collecting Star Wars. It's not expensive, and if you're a AFOL (Adult Fan Of Lego) it doesn't look like a kids toy. I would be proud to display it on my work desk. Too bad work outlawed having personal items on desks... Thank you for reading, I hope you enjoyed it! All photos are click able for larger, bigger-than-life picture sizes! BUT. Flickr is now making sure the links for pictures can't be just copied and pasted. It needs to link back to flickr. So now, if you click on a photo, it'll take you to my flickr site of that photo. All you have to do, is right-click on the photo and choose "Original" and you'll see the full size picture. Here is a direct link to my: 8099 Midi-scale Imperial Star Destroyer

It seems Dk.Green is a fav for a lot of people. ;)

Thanks to all for your comments. :) 2/5? My point was that it was easy to build and that almost anybody can do it without any issues. Not that easy/junk. :)

This review is on the 7599 Garbage Truck Getaway Quote from Lego.com. I didn't want to say too much besides what LEGO said since the movie hasn't be released yet. Set Name: 7599 Garbage Truck Getaway Theme: Toy Story 3 Released: 2010 Pieces: 402 Price: $49.99/$39.34EURO/33.84GBP Here are some quicklinks Lego.com, Brickset, Bricklink Wanna see some pictures? Let's start with the normal box arts and manuals! Box Front Wow! Limited Edition! You HAVE to buy it! All kidding aside, I think it's because they give you Twitch and the normal cast of characters are dirty. Box Rear Here you can see the operation of the Garbage truck and the name of the characters. Parts Bags 4 parts bag. Weird part is that Buzz's parts are in the numbered bag, not just in the minifig bag. Manuals Duplicated manual covers. Nothing special. Parts Lists (Page 1 and 2) Look at sheet one in the middle. Part#4588493 is new I think. It's the loading arm for the Garbage Bin. Minifigs Front Look at the dirt on them. I thought maybe they were stickers, but to my surprise, they are actually part of the minifig design. I want to say decals, but that's not the right word. Twitch's antenna are easy to lose as they come off. Buzz's wings come off and so does his half helmet, which also comes off easily. Lotso still looks mean, and Jessie really looks sad. No, the hat doesn't come off. Minifigs Rear I just noticed that Lotso has a white tag like a real doll. Jessie's hair is part of the head. Twitch's wings are new too. Really looks like a bug. On to the build! That's the end of the dumpster build. Looks real. Too bad it can't hold all the minifigs. While the build has the wheels facing sideways, I wonder if it would've been better facing 90deg the other way so it would help "slide" the dumpster on the dumpster's arms on the Garbage Truck? Garbage Truck build Very interesting way of adding the gas tank on the Garbage Truck. See? No steering wheel. How weird is that? Btw, Jessie can't fit in there. Can you figure out why? lol! Pretty smart. Did you notice that the whole front window can pivot up wards? Garbage Container build Wow. I thought that was neat how they made the top to open. What I didn't know is that it's AUTOMATIC! When you raise the bin up, it actually opens the top up to take in the garbage! Go see the little movie clip I made. Go on. Go watch it in HD. :) Building of the lifting arms All done! Looks like the real deal. Sorta. Ok, real enough for a toy. Finished picture Everybody smile. Ok, maybe not Jessie. HD video for you to watch. If you click on them and goto youtube's site, you can view them full size and select HD. It's clearer than the normal 480sd. Here you can the Garbage truck arms in action. That is so neat. Very well thought out. And once loaded, you can raise the Garbage container and open the rear door to empty the contents. My rating Playability: 5/5. Very playable with all the minifigs. I just watched my son and daughter "Borrow" my set and play with it for about 30mins. For some strange reason, the dumping in and out of the garbage truck just fascinated them. Design: 3/5. Not bad. I wish they made the set a bit bigger. As stated, the garbage container doesn't hold all the minifigs. Now that I think about it, this set is really way off scale. I wonder if this is supposed to be a "toy" Garbage Truck more than a real one. I guess seeing the movie is the only way to find out. Oh, no steering wheel in the truck, although there are one on each side of the truck. lol. Build experience: 2/5. No stickers. And everything was easy to put together. Even for small hands. only thing easier to build would be a duplo set. Overall: 4/5. It's a limited edition. Only thing I can figure is that you get Twitch, and the normal cast of characters are DIRTY. Not with stickers, but actually part of the stamped design. It seems like Star Wars, the Toy Story line is expensive. 400 pieces and I paid $50, makes this one of the "cheaper" Toy Story 3 sets to get. Thank you for reading, I hope you enjoyed it! This was not using my normal Canon 5DmkII, so photos and movies(Still in HD) may not be the same quality, I hope you liked my review still. I had to do this build in secret. For those who know me, you know why. All photos are click able for larger, bigger-than-life picture sizes! Nope. Just new work area. Nicer area as it's new, but no drawers as they really don't want you to bring anything extra to work. -
REVIEW: 7754 Home One: Mon Calamari Star Cruiser
starstreak replied to starstreak's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I was just put into my new office yesterday. :( No eating, pretty much no internet, no LEGO, no building or taking photos. Not a happy place. -
This review is on the #7754 Home One Mon Calamari Star Cruiser Set Name: 7754 Home One Mon Calamari Star Cruiser Theme: Star Wars Released: 2009 Pieces: 789 Price: $109.99/$79.85EURO/69.73GBP Here are some quicklinks Lego.com, Brickset, Bricklink Wanna see some pictures? Let's start with the normal box arts and manuals! Box Front I guess for a limited edition, they pull all the stops. Very colorful and full detail of the whole playset. Box Rear Back of the box, shows back of the playset. Here you can also see how the moving pieces move. Parts Bags OK, about 790 pieces. But yet, they needed 11 bags. About 4 bags for each stage of the build. I wonder why they don't use less bags? Minifigs front Rebel leader Mon Mothma, General Lando Calrissian, Mon Calamari officer, Admiral Ackbar, Green Squadron A-wing pilot and General Madine Minifig rear Nothing much to see here. The only one with detail is Admiral Ackbar. Sticker Sheet Nothing fancy with these stickers. Just enough to make the A-Wing, and the control panels. Instruction Manuals Same cover for both manuals. And these manuals was all warped in the box. I hated taking these photos. Random Page Final build page. In it you can see the lever that locks in the bridge and repair bay. Action Page Here you go. A close up of everything that moves and comes apart. Well, just about. I don't think they show you the crane that moves the engine. Parts lists Yes, there are 3 pages of parts! While I don't consider 790 pieces a lot, this set uses many different types of Lego parts. Build Sheets I created a contact sheet for this build. For a set that doesn't have that many pieces, they had many steps. I've broken it up into sections. A-Wing. Repair Bay. And Bridge. The contact sheets can be clicked on to take you to my flickr site where you can click on high-resolution photos of each step. A-Wing The engine fits very well in the rear. Once you slide in the red engine in the back, you fold the two white colored flaps over it. It actually does a good job at holding the engine in without too much play. If you notice just in front of the canopy, there is a 2x2 space. I was thinking this is a good place for a R2 unit, but it's really there just so when the canopy opens it has a place for the nose to fit. Green looks nice for the A-Wing. Did you know that the A-wing was released twice as a stand alone set? Both of those were red. All of them used the same general shape, with the same rear thruster design, and same idea for big wing guns. This version in this set is the most detailed. Repair Bay The best part of the hanger bay is the crane. It moves side to side and the rope can be raised or lowered. The A-Wing can also be rotated. Not sure if it was done to give it the idea of maneuverability or just a way so the crane can get the engine in just right.. The top where the crane is located holds what appears to be two light panels on both sides to light up the bay so the techs can work on the ship. Bridge As I was building the bridge, it reminded me of some Greek structure with all the white pillars, which later just turned into walls. The back is where the hologram globe sites. There 5 places for key figures to stand with a control panel. Somehow this looks more like an afterthought. The Front of the Bridge came out better. The captain's chair moves and swivels just like in the movie. And just like the A-Wing in the bay.. Hey, they used the same idea twice. I see they can't forget to include a cup to drink. But that that seems so out of place. Final Photos Front shot. They included just enough of the Bay to make the A-Wing seem at home there. Just enough pieces. They did use a contrast of pieces to show that they aren't supposed to be joind like that. Grey for the bay and white for the bridge area. Rear shot with the two halves joined. I love the idea how the A-Wing's engine comes out. The long black stick is there to move the A-Wing i and out and also to give you the ability to swivel the ship. Not that you can see it, but even the hologram globe has detail on the inside of it. There are some yellow technic parts and a shaft to simulate the inside of what appears to be the death star. Close-up of Mr. Ackbar sitting in his chair contemplating how to say "It's a trap to get you to buy more Lego!" I kinda like the chair. It moves forward and back and rotates. Just like the movie. Smart idea to use grey guns as details to the display panels on each of the side chairs. Just two different focused views of the A-Wing sitting in the bay. I like the shot of where the engine is in focus. My rating Playability: 4/5. Very playable with all the minifigs. But unless you have it sitting on a flat surface, I can see this set breaking. Design: 3/5. For a set called "Home One Mon Calamari Star Cruiser" I was hoping for something like how they made a playable Venator-Class Republic Attack Cruiser. But I guess for what it turned out, they added 3 different play areas. None are "great". But all are average. Build experience: 2/5. Nothing hard to build. Everything fit just right. And no hard stickers to put on. Overall: 4/5. For a limited edition I wanted more than just exclusive minifigs. I'm giving it a 4 for the minifigs and the great design of the A-Wing. If it wasn't for that, this set would be about a 3 in my book. I don't think I would've bought it. Ah! I bet you were thinking no comment about the price? Ha! I paid $135+ for this. Now it's being sold just around $100. Way expensive. I sometimes wonder if Lego knows some people would sell the minifigs so they keep the price high so not to do so. :) Thank you for reading, I hope you enjoyed it! All photos are click able for larger, bigger-than-life picture sizes! You can see all photos used here, including the larger build pictures: 7754 Home One Mon Calamari Star Cruiser.

So its worse than mine then... Eww.

Sorry its a bit blurry. Taken at 2,500 ISO. Is this more/less crooked than yours? It seems ok.

Missprinted? In what way? I'll go look at mine.
-
Yes. TRU in Hawaii. It eventually came down a few bucks more.

Thanks to all for the comments on my review. I'm glad the pictures came out well. White on White background is never easy. But I didn't have another color to use. :) Not to mention, the wingspan on this is large. Made it hard to photograph on my normal table. lol.

Got any pics? Only thing that would stop it from opening correctly is the rotating pins .
