  1. I got my poster seperate from my UCS MF. Came in a padded envelope. #5k something. At least it was "normal" poster size, not like the poster that came in that other SW Lego set from TRU.
  2. Oh I want the first two. I'm at Legoland at somewhere in the middle of July. Sounds like it'll be out after I come home. Maybe that's a good thing. No way I could fit that in my bag to take home. :)
  3. Woah, wait. I didn't have time to read the whole thing, but new agent sets are out to buy? Oh please please release the helicopter. :)
  4. Thanks! Yes. Pictures does tend to go over the edge at times. :) I will eventually do a review on the: F1 #8157 as I made that one too.
  5. I'm glad you liked it. :)
  6. I love the Tie Defender. Yours is the first one that actually looks like what it should look like. I like it!
  7. This review will be on the 8157 Ferrari F1 1:9 I'm not a big fan of F1 racing. But that's not to say I don't enjoy a good Lego set. At almost 1000 pieces, on a scale of .10 cents a piece, that should make the set about $100. ere in Hawaii, it was going for $119.95. I'd pass on that. But then it went on sale. So I bought it. Now, it's even cheaper from Lego shop at home for $69.98. It's a very large and solid set. It's over 20 inches long, 7 inches wide. Very Ferrari red. This review is a type of photo review where I show at least 80%+ of the build process. I hope you like it. Set Name: 8157 Lego Ferrari F1 1:9 Theme: Racers Released: 2008 Pieces: 997 Price: $89.99/67.50 EUR/59.44 GBP Here are some quicklinks Bricklink, Brickset, and Shop@home Wanna see some pictures? Let's start with the normal box arts and manuals! Most pictures are click-able for mind-blowing, did-I-really-need-to-see-it-THAT-big photos! Box front Box rear For the back, there is a lot of detail. It shows the seat and tires turning, etc. Bag-o-parts Very easy. Everything is all numbered. Instruction books Instruction books are a bit smashed from being in the box. Sticker sheet Many stickers. Ferrari prancing horse, Bridgestone, AMD, etc. The build. It reads from left to right then down to the next row. Above in red was the build for the nose of the F1 racer. Very detailed. You can see how they even added the sticker in the nose duct. The next part is the under body of the F1. Here you can see the front suspension being created. No shocks. But you can see the tooth gear in the middle to help turn the front tires when you turn the steering wheel. The seat is created and inserted into the shell. Very detailed. You can even see the belt clips! And here you can see the cold air scoop located behind the drivers head being added. One piece design. The finished photos. All photos click-able to huge photo sizes! Side profile with the BBS rims. Front view. Very long model. I like this view. Rear view. Very clean. They included everything from the rear brake light to undercarriage airflow ducts. Top view. Here you can see the cockpit. I like how they detailed the seat belts are. Little camera shake, sorry. Nose spoiler removed. Very detailed. Notice how even the air duct on the nose has a sticker in it. Another closeup view of the nose. A good view to see the steering wheel. Nothing fancy with that, but it does turn the front wheels. Here the rear wing is removed. Yup, it detaches. Another angle. Here you can see how low it is to the ground. Also, you can see all the stickers being used on the rear spoiler. Front angle view. If you look carefully, you can see the ducting behind the front wheel. Full top view. So I cheated, it's standing on its side. Underside. Very similar to a real F1. Very smooth and the air ducting at the back helps the F1 keep hold of the road. In some races, the F1 creates so much down force, that it could be driven upside down on a ceiling if it had enough road to do that! Features This is very much a static build. No minifig can jump in and drive off in this set. The wheels rotate, steering works and rear wing is removable. Weighs like a ton and feels very solid. Only things that really break off when I was moving it around is the side view mirrors and the rear spoiler. Since they have the Ferrari license, they could add all the prancing horse logos and all the sponsor's logos. My rating: Playability: 1 out of 5. It is pose able. That's it. It's a display. I wouldn't mind putting this under a display case if I had one big enough just to keep the dust off of it. Design: 5 out of 5. Not much they could've done. Maybe put shocks or add a detailed engine. But what they did do was keep all the aerodynamic curves on the racer. Build experience: 4 out of 5. When comparing to other "racers" series sets, it was one of the hardest to put together. As a Lego set in general, anybody who could follow instructions well can make this set. There was nothing complicated. Overall: 4 out of 5. At $69.98 it's a good deal. For red parts or as a Ferrari lover. I believe this set is going on clearance to remove from inventory. So buy now if you want it. Thank you for reading, I hope you enjoyed it! 8. You might be right. I have it one hole too high for his nose area.
  9. This review will be on the 10186 General Grievous. Why yes, I do start all of my reviews with that line. If someone asked me if I would buy a Lego set of a humanoid type figure out of Lego, I would've said no, I'm not into THAT kind of set. So here is what Lego did to throw me off. They made a Star Wars set, which I love to build. They made robot, which I would build. Then they combined both together and made an awesome, no.. it's beyond awesome. It's Be-awesome set of General Grievous! Yeah, yeah. I love the movie Bolt. Whats not to like. Mr. Grievous stands 18 inches high, has 4 arms. And has four light sabers. Who wouldn't want to wield four light sabers! So lets get on with the show. Set Name: 10186 General Grievous Theme: Star Wars Released: 2008 Pieces: 1085 Price: $89.99 (I paid $29.98 and you can too if you order before it's too late from the lego store.)/22.67 EUR/20.17 GBP Here are some quicklinks Bricklink, Brickset, and Lego S@H. Wanna see some pictures? Let's start with the normal box arts and manuals! Most pictures are click-able for mind-blowing, did-I-really-need-to-see-it-THAT-big photos! Box Front Box rear Instructions Parts list Sticker sheet Features page Bag of parts Don't go blind with the colors. The "Pillow" is used to lower the sound of Lego moving around. Here is the second drawer. This one has nothing to quiet the sound. Since this set has NO numbered bags, this should be a interesting build. I can see why they made it for 14+ for the age. Hmm what's this doing in the box? Can you guess why there's a hood and a head? Did General Grievous eat a Jedi for lunch?? Maybe I'm just getting ahead of myself. The Build Oh so that's how they have 1000+ pieces. The stand used 64 of those 2x2 flat black pieces. These are the leg stands. If the black shows up well enough, you can see how each leg is built. Here is the completed plate. The underside has the round plate that allows it to rotate on the base. As you can see from the above photos, the feet is actually built on the plate. Interesting idea. I guess that way the feet can still look like robotic bones without it being to fragile to hold the weight of the figure on it. The legs and torso is now completed. As a whole, the figure really doesn't move, but it does look like that I could make him bend at the torso. The center body is now complete. Here is the front of the body. Yes, I know it looks like back, but trust me on this. Here is the back. Now if you think about it, they made it this way to hide the underside of the pieces and build on it so you can add things like the black spine you can see in the picture. Now the body is added to the legs and you can see the "guts" attached to his body. Oh look what they used for the Jedi hood and head. Maybe it's supposed to be a heart? Here you can see the white body armor and ribs. The white armor move up and to the side, while the ribs, shown open, folds down this way to show the inside of his body. Close up of his head. The head can look up/down and left/right. If you squint, you can see his yellow eyes and even the "red" of skin under the white mask. When compared to the original, his "ears" seem too small. AND I think Lego could've gave extra black striping for his head now that I see a picture of him.. All that is needed is to add the arms on. So without further ado here are finished pictures. Completed photos. Click to see full size. Completed shot with Mr. Grievous holding his four light sabers. Pretty smart. They used little hooks on the sabers to attach them to his hands so they don't fall out. Rear photo. Looks so simple. Can't tell that it was made up of over 1000+ parts! Here is a view of him looking up. This photo looks better when viewed full size. Looks like a large spider pouncing on his prey. Here is a close up view of his heart or guts or whatever you want to call his insides. Maybe he did eat a Jedi... Just kidding. Or not.. Oh yes, Lego was even kind enough to give two forms. One with two and one with his four. So with two hands, they added shoulder pauldrons. Side profile with only two arms. Here are the extras. Yes, that is a lot of parts, but per Bricklink, it seems correct. Features As mentioned above during the build, the head moves, the base rotates, his body opens to reveal his insides. It's supposed to be more of a static display then something to play with. So as it stands, it's not bad. I would've liked to see his head detailed a little more as his "ears" seem a little off for what it should look like, and he's missing his cape. My rating: Playability: 1 out of 5. It is pose able. That's it. It's a display. Design: 4 out of 5. Well done. Just some minor things. Notably the "ears" and maybe his insides could've been done better. Build experience: 3 out of 5. Easy to build. For 1000+ pieces, it was easy. I guess they rated it for ages 14+ because of the many small pieces, no numbered poly-bags and for having so many pieces. Overall: 4 out of 5. At $89.99 I might have bought it because I think the way General Grievous is made is be-awesome, but Lego's version isn't worth that price. At $29.98 it's a must have for any Lego Star Wars fan to have. Thank you for reading, I hope you enjoyed it! All smaller photos are click able for larger picture sizes! You can see all photos used here: 10186 General Grievous
  10. Oh geez. I checked about ordering something again just now. Sold out of the posters. In 2 days, they made 15k orders?? So your chance of winning a MF is err... 1:5,000?
  11. Oh man, wife is gonna kill me. I ordered the MLF. Please don't let it go cheaper for at least 6 months...
  12. Crud, I ordered my General Grievous 1 week too early. Hmm.. Now what can I order to get the poster... Btw, anybody know what size the poster is? Is it a wimpy 8x11 folded paper or something much larger? At least the hi-res picture of the poster is nice. Interesting that Lego put figures on it from upcoming sets.
  13. I would rather have Lego come out with a bunch of midi-ships. All priced under $25. That would make it under $30 in Hawaii and come with about 250 pieces. I liked the mini-ships but some of them break too easy. At midi-scale, they could release capitol ships with some detail. I would buy those. :)
  14. Sorry, as I mentioned, I didn't see any post about article. Sorry for the repost.
  15. http://www.starwars.com/vault/collecting/20090416.html There's more info there, I hope this isn't a repeat. Here is a cut from it. August 1st and a Walmart only! Fans of the galaxy's fastest "hunk of junk" can look forward to an all-new Midi-scale edition of Han Solo's legendary Millennium Falcon from The LEGO Group this summer, and only Walmart's getting them! The 356-piece set includes rotating guns both top and bottom, and rotating radar dish. Of course, savvy LEGO builders can add their own "special modifications" to the hull -- this is LEGO building after all! Jens Kronvold Frederiksen, a LEGO Design Manager working out of Billund, Denmark, is the artist behind the new Midi-scale Falcon, and answered a few of our questions about the upcoming kit: What are the challenges of designing in the "Midi-Scale"? Did paring back the detail make it easier or more difficult to come up with a compelling design for the Falcon? In general Midi-scale is good for building bigger vehicles. But some of the smaller details can be a challenge. Are you restricted to a certain number of newly-tooled parts for these kits? We are always restricted on new tooled elements on all sets! But here, as there are no minifigures with the model, there was no need for new tooled elements. The pared-back "Midi" aesthetic feels fun and lends itself well to desktop display for grown-ups. Are these just for kids, or do you have the adult fan in mind as well? The model is for both kids AND older collectors. The model has a good size for display, but it is also constructed so that it will not fall apart when playing. You might lose a brick or two if you reach point-five past lightspeed, though... Look for the LEGO® all-new Midi-scale Millennium Falcon exclusively at Walmart starting August 1, and be sure to check out Walmart's LEGO shop here!
  16. Thanks! I'm glad you liked it. I saw all the MOCs you made, very nice! One of these days, I'll try and add my Lego to a background besides white.
  17. Mine is that blue. :) JK. To give a bit more pop to the picture, the contrast was a bit higher. Sometimes I wish I had a different color background but I can't put up anything but white.
  18. Once you add a poll, there's no way to redo it without wiping the data, right?
  19. Lol! I left it off when I was looking inside the cockpit area. And I started taking the pictures. update: lol. I redid the heli and reposted it. With the cockpit. :)
  20. Thanks! And I have to test it out about the minifig, but I would say, no. The size is just a bit off. Although I think it could be modded to take it. The Heli is a speedboat now. I'll try and rebuild the heli on my next work day. :)
  21. Thanks! I'm happy you liked it. You can always see more pictures of other Lego stuff I have on my flickr site. Just click on my link below. A couple. I think, and don't quote me on this, but I was using either my Canon 40D or my Canon SD870 IS. I think it was the SD870 IS for this review. Btw, it's not always how good the camera is that makes the picture. I noticed alot of times, it was easier to shoot with the SD870 IS than my DSLR.
  22. To explain the Creator series better, here is a quote on what it is from Lego.com. What I notice from the Creator 3 in 1 series is they give instructions to build more than one set. In this set, you can build the main model, which is a a Cargo Copter, or two alernate sets. A "Piper" type airplane or a speedboat. This set has a special power part in it - a winch. We'll see how that works in the different builds. Set Name: 4995 Lego Cargo Copter Theme: Creator Released: 2008 Pieces: 272 Price: $19.99 (I paid $23.99)/13.73gbp Here are some quicklinks Bricklink, Brickset, and Lego S@H. Lets see what you get from the store! Front of box Back of the box Parts list on the box The parts bags The Instruction books Here are the two books of instructions. The first book covers just the helicopter build. The second book covers both the Airplane and Power boat build. The build With over 35+ steps to build the Cargo Helicopter, I tried to limit the amount of photos to just 4. It was a interesting design in that the cockpit part is actually joined by two technic pins. Youtube video of winch name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="<A href=" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>"> name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="<A href=" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350">OK, I'm a bit upset about this. I thought this set was an awesome deal for $23.99 when it included a "+Power Function" winch. But as you can see in the video, it's like a talking doll string. You pull it, then press the button to retract it. Not happy. Not sure why Lego kept the lightning bolt symbol next to the name , when it doesn't use a power. Extra parts from Helicopter build There's allot of parts left. But I'm guessing it's needed for the other builds. Finished photos of the Cargo Helicopter Side view of the Helicopter. Lego made the right height for the Copter. As you can see, with the cargo fully lifted, the Copter can still roll on the ground. Front view. Nice use of the white dish to give the nose a finished look. I also like the wide stance that the rear wheels give the copter. I bet it wouldn't be too hard to change the basic shape into some sort of military helicopter. Here is a rear view. It's amazing what Lego can turn two grey barrels into turbo exhaust for the engine. Top view. The blades span out just the right amount to give the helicopter the right shape to make it look like it could be lifted off the table if the blades was spinning fast enough. Here is a close up of the rear landing gear and engine. The gear has a "stork" leg look to it, but it works well. The orange slope you see just behind the engine is what you push on to retract the winch. Some eagle-eye people noticed I forgot to put back on th cockpit roof. So I rebuilt the whole model and added it. :) Here is a better view of the cargo. The center bar is what the hook grabs on to raises the container. I wonder what's in those yellow barrels? I hope nothing fragile, as there is nothing to keep it from falling out! Another view. The smooth black pieces above the container are there to rest against the hull of the helicopter when the cargo is up against the hull. Smart move. It gives the cargo helicopter a very finished look to it when the cargo is being held under the helicopter. Alternate build. The airplane. Very nice front view. It really does look like a "Piper" airplane.. Side view. A good view to see the wings. Besides being very multicolored, the wings do look angled enough to give the impression that the plane could fly. Also take note of the rear wheels. Very smart. By using the normal wheel holders without the wheels, it actually looks like mini wheels that some airplanes would have on the rear of the plane. I also like the use of the smooth tail section, by getting rid of the Lego studs on the top, it has a very aerodynamic shape to it. Here is a better view from the back. Not bad. Lego even added a little tail light. From this side view, you can see the little grey studs used to make up the engine exhaust ports. Nice detail on that. Also, you can see the winch motor. You can turn the propeller blades by hand. And then press the button to cause the propeller to spin. Don't expect it to fly off the ground. It spins kind of slow. Alternate build. The speedboat. Here is the front view. While you don't see the winch line, it's supposed to run from the winch motor through the center of the boat to the nose of the boat, and hang at the front. I didn't add it because I couldn't untie the knot I made for the hook, and I didn't want to cut it! Rear shot. Nicely done too. The two outboard motors look real from this angle. No blades, but it does look OK. The rear also has a spoiler on it. I like how they stuck on the radar dish that you see on some fancy speedboats. And here is the final shot. The under hull is detailed too. Lego used the curved pieces to give the boat a very aerodynamic shape to cut through the water at high speeds. Features The main feature of this set besides giving you the instructions and pieces to make 3 totally different sets, is the winch. I thought the winch was battery powered but it's not. I was very disappointed in that. But I guess that is why the set was "only" $19.99. Final thoughts Each of the three different builds, the Cargo Copter, the Airplane, and the Speedboat all look very authentic. If you think about it, it's very interesting to see how three totally different things can be made out of 95% of the same Lego parts. My rating: Playability: 4 out of 5. It is playable. Every build is sturdy and looks just like it's supposed to. Design: 4 out of 5. When you consider how many parts each build shares between the other two, it's very good design on how each build looks. Build experience: 2 out of 5. Easy to build. No stickers and the only thing hard for some is cutting the string and making knots. Overall: 3 out of 5. It was OK of a set. I still wish the winch was a powered version. Thank you for reading, I hope you enjoyed it! All smaller photos are click-able for larger picture sizes! 23. This review will be on the 8633 Agents: Speedboat Rescue. Quote from Lego.com- To quote Dr. Evil when receiving a present from his son "Are those fri&%in' sharks with fri&%in' laser beams attached to their fri&%in' heads?" That's right, you too can become Dr. Evil as Lego give you two Sharks with Lasers and missiles attached to them! Set Name: 8633 Speedboat Rescue Theme: Agents Released: 2008 Pieces: 340 Price: $40.99 (I paid $47.99)/27.87pounds Here are some quicklinks Bricklink, Brickset, and Lego S@H. Wanna see some pictures? Let's start with the normal box arts and manuals! Box Art Front of the box. The picture is the same as the manual. Do not try this at home though, as there are holes in the boat and won't float like some other water sets. Back of the box. I like the layout. It does show all the different things this set can do. Your actual use will vary. The Manuals The two manuals. I think they could've done it with one, but I'm guessing they wanted to keep this set easy to follow. Some pages only had one thing to connect. The parts bags You can see the sharks. Ouch! The jaws are detached. A few pieces are loose. Sticker sheet Nothing special. All stickers are pretty easy to put on, except the cockpit sticker. It has skinny ends so if you put it on wrong, it'll be hard to peel off to redo. Here's something I didn't notice. There is a silver star and the number 4 on the sheet. When you buy the big set like the Command Center, you get a ID card that you can put the stars and numbers on it as your own personal set counter. Neat. Too bad I gave my card away to my son. Spare parts I found it interesting there was a spare antenna. Sweet. Keep in mind that spare parts are random and may not include the same things as mine. The build "Augh! Don't eat me! Just shoot me with the fr&%ken lasers!" The figures and Shark is the first part. I never thought sharks would be fun, but... the jaws can be clicked open or closed so it can be left open if you wanted to. Who wouldn't want sharks with lasers. The Subpod The subpod. Really simple design. Nothing special on the inside. Finished. The green sticker on the front window is what I was talking about. Make sure you have it where you want it before applying it. Mine is like 1mm off to one side. You can't tell unless you're looking right at the front. Drives me bonkers but it's ok. The buoy A simple process. As you can see, the buoy is hollow in the middle. It stores the hidden jetski, and trust me, it puts the mini in miniboat. They used just enough parts to hold it together and that's it. Make sure you don't put that orange piece at the back of the mini boat all the way back. It should be one stud in. If you don't, you won't be able to close the cover for the buoy to hid the miniboat. The chain on the tower is height adjustable. You'll need to raise it a notch from level or the agent will be drowning. Muhahaha! On to the Agents Speedboat I could never figure out why Lego uses out-of-place colors. The green you can't see once the Speedboat is built, and the red, is just barley visible. I like the dual hull design. Looks like I built the front, but it's really the rear of the boat. Here you see the front and back half joined. If you look at the front hull, you can see holes in the floor. So this boat won't float. Not to mention, the stickers aren't water proof. You can see the engine in the middle and that grey flap in the middle covers the storage area when you push it down. The sticker on it is a engine. I guess its supposed to be a engine but for playability, you can keep stuff under it. Here is the other engine cover. I didn't put it on yet. You can see how it can swivel down to cover the compartment are. The other side I have raised still. Completed. It has a "flick-fire" harpoon/cable. A net launcher on the other side with a "flick-fire" missile next to it. See finished photos for more comments. Finished Photos Rear photo. Here you can see the loading dock for the subpod. Pretty slick, the sides glide the pod right up to a little claw that holds on the front of the subpod. If you push on the center engine on the boat, it'll push the pod off the claw. Front view. Here you can see (if you click on the picture for a larger view) on each of the twin hulls the words "Net storage" and "Spare harpoon". Since you can't open the hull, they made the storage under the engine flaps. Here is a closeup behind the harpoon launcher. The engine cover is open. You can see the line for the harpoon inside. The wheel...Not sure what the use is. It folds out wards so when you shoot the line, it'll fly. When you close the wheel, it can "hold" the line, but there's no grooves for the line to stay under the wheel when you rotate the knob. Closeup of the net launcher side. Here you can see the engine cover open and a storage area. Good place to put the net. The little red piece in the net launcher is what you hit to spit out the net. About the net launcher, it doesn't hold the net neatly. You really have to stuff it in there. Here you can see the subpod coming in for a docking. Close up of the front. Looks very long from this view. and you can see the air scoop for the center engine. The whole set A quick save for Agent Trace "Muhaha, you're too late! You'll drown Agent Trace!" said B.Jaw. "No! I'll save you!" said the Agent Chase in the subboat. Boom! The hidden door to B.Jaw's hidden jetski flies open and Agent Trace lands on it! "Noooo!!" Yells B.Jaw. "I'm an Agent! I meant for B.Jaw to tie me up. I stole his plans and I just needed a way to escape," said Agent Trace to Agent Chase. -The End. Features There are a few features found on this set. Most I described above. But as a recap, you do have: Includes Agent Trace, Agent Chase and Break Jaw minifigures, plus 2 sharks! Flick-fire missiles attached to one of the sharks. A net shooter. A subpod that docks to the speedboat. A flickfire harpoon and you can use the line as a zip line. There's a minifig zip line device. The engine compartments open on the speedboat. There's a hidden jetski in the buoy. Final thoughts The set as a whole isn't bad. I like the design of the dual hull design and how the subpod attaches to the back. For kids, it would have been neat to make it water suitable. But with holes in the boat, that's a no go. My rating: (When comparing to other Agent sets available at the time of the review 4/12/09) Playability: 4 out of 5. It is playable. I love the sharks and the design on the boat. Moving it on smooth carpet, it doesn't snag so since you can't put it in water, that's not bad. Design: 4 out of 5. This ranks just behind the Agent Command Center. Which I also have. And ahead of all the rest of the sets. Build experience: 3 out of 5. Easy to build. Nothing complicated and all parts was easy to join. Only not so good stuffs was the window sticker and how the net launcher doesn't hold the net well. Overall: 4 out of 5. At 340 pieces, and paying close to $48 for it, it was a bit much. But now's the time to get it. As of today, you can get it on Lego.com for $29.99 on clearance. Bummer I bought it 5 days ago at $47.99. Thank you for reading, I hope you enjoyed it!
