  1. What other sets? I think this is one of the better Avengers set out.
  2. I love it too. Best avenger set so far.
  3. No blades. I think that would've been to hard to do unless it was added by stickers or increasing the cost for more parts.
  4. You guys are so funny. You do know if Batman would be allowed to see the Qinjet, he would just have have to make his own in all black. Hehe.
  5. Glad you liked them. Took me a while to figure out how to do that build video. I do it once and don't do another for a LONG time and I forgot what program I used. lol.
  6. This review will be on the 6869 Quinjet Aerial Battle Set Name: 6869 Quinjet Aerial Battle Theme: Marvel Super Heroes Released: 2012 Pieces: 735 Price: $69.99/$79.99 EUR/69.99 GBP It was $74.99 here in Hawaii at the Lego Store. Here are some quick links: Lego.com, Brickset, Bricklink Wanna see some pictures? Let's start with the normal box arts and manuals! Box Front I love the box art. It screams at you to fly in the sky with the good guys. Box Rear The back of the box pretty much shows you everything that the ship can do. The cockpit can open and bend downwards like how the Concorde jet nose would bend down. Missiles swivel down and be flick-fired. And while not exactly as pictured, the mini-jet is launched by that little button on the top. There is space in the rear and the top hatch opens to the rear cargo area. The swivel wing tips I take it is from the real jet. Parts Bags Lego kept it simple by labeling all the bags so there wouldn't be a big pile of Legos to shift through. Polybag Bag I hope Lego continues to do this for more sets. It really does a good job at keeping the stickers and instruction booklets all neat and tidy till you open it. Sticker Sheet All the stickers are put to good use. *WARNING* Where you see a blue outline in that photo is how big each sticker is. Be careful when placing the stickers. Being most are "clear" stickers, if you make an error and place it crooked, if you peel it off, it'll get messy in the clear areas. Take your time. Instruction Books Yes. Book one is small. I wish they kept them all the same size as it would be easier to file it away after you're done. All covers are the same as the front of the box. Comic Book Cover I have not read the comics yet. This is book 4. Parts Lists All three pages. I see some interesting parts. See below. Interesting parts I don't see these parts in Lego sets. Golden buttons and that unusual half height SNOT helper. Although I did notice that piece in the Wolverine Helicopter Set. Extra Parts Lego is getting kind in their old age. You get an extra staff AND Lego removal tool. I must have like 4 of these now. Lego must've heard the outcry of Lego Kids everywhere needing help to take apart pieces. Even Technic sets come with it. Iron Man Minifig Wow. I see Lego went the extra mile for that flip helmet. Not only does Mr. Stark get two faces, the helmet flips up so you can see his face. It's a tight fit when closed. I'm happy. I just wish I couldn't see his neck. Black Widow and Thor Both Black Widow and Thor get dual faces. No weapon for Black Widow, but Thor has his trusty Mjolnir. Loki and foot soldier Loki gets his staff and his compensating-for-the-lack-of something horn helm. The foot soldier has both front and back printing. Looks nice! On to the build! First up is: Loki's Chariot Since there was only 7 shots, I thought I would just give you a contact sheet on the build. I haven't seen any Avenger movie preview with the chariot in it, so I don't know how true to the movie it is. It's a very simple build. Very bling. Lots of gold. But what else would a God be riding? Quinjet build I hope you like the video! I tried my best (hand held) to get the parts to line up nicely for this. I just love how this ship looks. It's very hefty. I'll explain more in the final shots of the Quinjet. Quinjet Rotation Here is a rotation of the Quinjet. I hope you like it. I have the rockets swung down from the wings so you can see them. Click on the video to goto youtube to view full screen at 1080. Quinjet Features Here is a video showing the different parts of the Quinjet that move. Quinjet Mini-jet ejection And last video is showing how the Mini-Jet would eject. A bit hard to hold and video at the same time, but I think you get the idea. :) Finished Shots of the Quinjet Front view with the nose straight and front of the wings straight and wing tips angled. I love this view. Doesn't look chunky in this view. Here you can see the missile launchers retracted. Front view with nose and front of wings angled down and wing tips angled down and lastly missile launchers in launch position. This view looks good for a "parked" view. Gives it a battle ready stance. Top view with nose angled down and front of wings angled. Lego did a fine job in giving details to all parts of the Quinjet. Front quarter view with nose down and front wing angled and wing tips angled forward. While interesting idea for the wing tips (I'm sure the movie does this) it doesn't hold well while playing with the Quinjet. It's very loose and tends to wiggle. Side view with with nose up and front of wings raised and wing tips lowered. This view isn't flattering. It shows how "tall" it looks. I saw some comic book drawings of the Quinjet and it was like this. I guess so it has room to walk in. You can't think of it as a fighter jet. Side view with the nose down and front of wing wip lowered. Somehow with the nose lowered it looks worse. Can't be helped. Its the only way Lego could make the front be raised and lowered without adding more Lego to the cost. Rear view . Here you can see the rear bay door raised. You'll also notice that the jets have a red/orange insert to give it the look of the engines being on. Also, now you can see that the engines are actually rotated at an angle. I like that look. Here is a rear view of both the top and bay doors being opened. Both doors open to the same area on the ship. Not much room in there. With the mini-jet launcher in there, it does give it a look of pipes and electronics inside. I'm not a fan of that red cross bar. I think it would've looked better in black or grey. Top rear angled view. Not bad view. You can't really tell how chunky the Quinjet is from this angle. It almost seems like it's holding a cargo container in the rear. Top view of the rear canopy taken off. Here you can see two seats. There is a computer console in thefront that you cannot see from this view. I guess Stark doesn't like being on fire much. There's a fire extinguisher included. You also get a good view of the shield stickers on the wings. Again, be careful on how you put them on. Comments: I think out of all the Avengers sets that have come out, this is my favorite. The Quinjet is sturdy enough to play with and has many features. And this set actually came with 5 minifigures, including Iron Man with the flip-up face plate. I think the only part lacking was the Loki's chariot. It seemed like a last minute thought. If you angle the chariot they way it's supposed to be, you can't stand it up on its own very well. My rating Playability: 5/5 Very swooshable. My son is dying for me to finish taking all these photos so he can play with it. Since this set gives you 2 bad guys with the good guys, you can actually have a vs match. Build experience: 2/5 Easy build. Nothing is too hard to put together. Except the stickers. As I have stated above, I like how the stickers (as squares) are easier to center, but take your time, if you mess up, clear part of the tape is very unforgiving in peeling off without it getting gummy. Overall: 4/5 I didn't give this set a 5 out of 5 because I factored in the price. This was an expensive set. It's on par with Star Wars sets. Also, I didn't think the chariot was as thought out as the Quinjet. Thank you for reading, I hope you enjoyed it! All photos are viewable in full size on my flickr site. Here is a direct like to my: 6869 Quinjet Ariel Battle
  7. I think that's more so people don't photocopy the invites to get in. It supposedly all black Friday deals a week early. I hope it's good.
  8. I got one. I'm still trying to get off on that day. I got 2 of 25.
  9. I, at first didn't want this set. Now it's growing on me. But, I just bought all the other SW sets. My wife is already ready to cut my card up. lol.
  10. B-Wing? Sweet! I'll buy any version. But I hope it's a UCS. One better made than that Jedi Starfighter. So many people made very good looking UCS, Lego will be hard pressed to beat them. I hope it's not to Minifig scale. You always have to "give" a little to shape to put the minifig in just right...
  11. I'm pretty sure that's what it is. The price point puts it above the kids to buy, but not good enough for afols to buy at that price.
  12. Rufus- My eyes are closed when I skimmed this review. I have it, and don't want to ruin the surprise! But I can already see what a good set this will be from when I scrolled down page. BTW, I like how you took the time to line up the parts. <-- I can do that. I'm a teacher.
  13. I love your reviews! You always get pics to compare the set to the real thing. I just built this set too. I like it. :)
  14. Finally had a chance to log in. Thank you all who liked the review. I tried to show all the sides so you could see how Lego tried to make it playable. I do have the other Hoths sets... Maybe I could see if I could join them together. I do wish this set was cheaper.
  15. This review will be on the 7879 Hoth Echo Base Set Name: 7879 Hoth Echo Base Theme: Star Wars Released: 2012 Pieces: 773 Price: $89.99/$63.17 EUR/55.56 GBP It was $95.99 here in Hawaii. Here are some quicklinks Lego.com, Brickset, Bricklink Wanna see some pictures? Let's start with the normal box arts and manuals! Box Front Yes it does say "limited Edition". That really means only selected stores will carry it. Like The Lego Store and Toys R Us. Box Rear Nice back pictures. It shows you what each moving part does. Some make sense. Others I think they added just to give more detail. Like the moving crane for the boxes. It goes nowhere and where you stack the boxes isn't even close to where the crane is. Parts Bags Nothing special here. The only bag that was separate was the Tauntaun. Sticker Sheet One sticker sheet Instruction Books Came cover on both manuals. Parts List Random Page More shots of what was on the back of the box. Minifigs Yes, they really gave the princess a Popsicle. Han Solo gets "Kenny" hood and a toupee. Luke and the princess get two faced. Ah! Two of my favorite pieces. The new 2-1B (Far left), and the red protocol droid R-3PO. And the Tauntaun. Oh, now that you see it in this picture, the grey brick is to fill in the Tauntaun's empty socket when nobody is riding him. Snowtrooper's heavy canon I like the design. The cabled battery/ammo box is a nice touch. Imperial speeder bike It looks good in white. The Build Process Top right is the finished right side. It joins to the left half on a hinge. In my build, I don't join them till the end. But in the manual, you build them joined. I did it this way mostly to keep the photos clean. I'm guessing, it's some sort of power generator. And the yellow thing is to help hold the Tauntaun's rein and saddle when not in use. Bottom right is the finished left side. Left side finished with Tauntaun resting. Here you can see his saddle and rein. The turrets on the top rotate and move up/down. Also, each set has a pair of blue flick-fire missiles on them. Finished Photos Here is the whole base. Some things to consider when playing with the set is you can keep it fully opened or closed or even partial like this photo. All works for some fine play time action! Base closed- From different sides Here is the base closed. You can see some warning signs. I'm Earth, so I can't read them. Back side. You can see the communication dishes that rotate and the crates on the right. How the crane gets them there is beyond me. The white icicles in front of the two entrances fall if you pull the stick holding them. This view shows the Tauntaun's gate which holds his food. Rotate the two levers and you can pull open the door. There is a rebel canon that is attached to base here on this side as well. Presumably to protect the entrance that has no blast doors. Final side. Here you have the top platform. You can raise in lower it, but it's hard to do that while it's on the base. The gun case can swivel down to give access to the guns from the outside. Finished photo of the base opened wide. Same photo but from the other side. Now you can see the gun case opened. Movie moments Han returning to base. Luke in the Bacta tank. Luke now out of the Bacta tank and Han and Leia waiting to see him. Other random photos Han and Chewie guarding the base from the Snowtooper attack. And the princess on the portable canon. Ready to give them heck! Comments: Ok, lets get this out of the way. This is was $90+. That's a heck of a lot of money for a small set. you're paying for the rare minifigs and that some stores won't get it. With that a side, this set does remind me of the Hoth base. Cave entrance, the "snow" pieces on the grey rocks. Part of me feels like they put this set together as a last minute thought. As I mentioned elsewhere, the crate crane seems out of place, even where they have you storing the crates when not in use. Overall size is big for the amount of Lego. They had to do that to give you lots of playing area. There's the hospital area, the war room, Tauntaun holding area, and even the exterior gives you playing area. The canon leads to outside where they gave you some Snowtoopers to attack. Even how the gun case flips open to give the troops access to it. Overall it does convey a feeling of being in the Hoth Base. My rating Playability: 4/5 Either to be setup as a diorama, or to be played with. I like it! Many moving parts. My son loves the set. But it does break easily. Which depending how you look at it, can be a good thing if you're shooting up the base. Build experience: 2/5 Easy build. Nothing is too hard to put together. Except the stickers. The one used for the tactical screen was a bit hard. It's something you have to get right on the first try because you're placing a clear sticker on a clear piece. If you peel it back, the sticker will leave a murky color on the clear areas. Overall: 3/5 If I don't factor in the cost, then this set is ok. A lot all the minifigs special. The R-3PO, medical driod, another Tauntaun and even Han Solo are all done in good taste. I can see it fitting well with the other ice sets. But... If I factor in the cost, then I would rate it a 2/5. At $90+ for a set that only 773 pieces, that is expensive. For a clearance price of $74.99 it would be more worth it. Thank you for reading, I hope you enjoyed it! 16. K.K. There was this Lego brick crossing the road and heh.hehe. wait. What do you mean Lego bricks don't walk?

  17. http://www.megabloks.com/Shop/MEGA_Bloks/Halo/ODST_29709/ I mean when compairing to the Halo line. I don't like those, but at least they look better than these "Heros" with marvel prints on them.
  18. OMG. I could understand minifigs. These "Hero" line figures are on par with those Megablok knock-offs. Not that happy with them.
  19. I couldn't find anything that I didn't have that didn't cost an arm and a leg. The Death Star was $400+, the UCS Jedi Starfighter was $109. So I couldn't bring myself into spending that much. So I bought a couple of the new space sets and got the poster instead. :( Some of those listed on the poster, I would've never counted as a UCS. Btw, my poster was 8609 of 23500.
  20. Aw man, is it just me or does this feel like a $20 set that's gonna cost alot more? I mean seriously, it looks too simple.
  21. I'm so jealous you got this already. Btw, did they do that again with the canons? Only give enough for half the ship?
  22. Wow. Just saw the pics of this ship. Somehow it has a wow factor of 10 based on the size. But something is missing. If those minifigs are included could this be the 1st UCS that's minifig based? Like the top pops off to have a bridge or something? A UCS needs to be something of greater detail. It's big. And grey. And... has lots of big grey flat pieces. I mean, a UCS of the Malevolence... Now that would look awesome. I'm sure they will make it. With it featured in the new Lego Star Wars Clone Wars video game, I'm sure they have plans for it.
  23. It seems to be a good set. I'm only on book one. Only able to build a little per day, but seems fun. The switch to operate the door seems to stick when switching gears is my only complaint so far.
  24. Nice review! I was so hoping to do a review on it but alas, no car here in Hawaii. I so want it.
  25. Thank you! So far its been on my self and still looks fine. I think it'll need to sit ther for a long time for it to be damaged.
