  1. There are six unique results: SHIELD, CRITICAL HIT, etc. If two six-sided die are rolled there are a total of 21 unique combinations. In order to roll SPECIAL DAMAGE, a hero must roll two SPECIAL DAMAGE the chances of which are 1 unique combination of 21 different combinations thus 1/21. It's been a while since I took statistics, so I could be off.
  2. That's correct, I thought you had put your emerald with your ruby and opal. Remember also, this is only for singular types, if someone throws out a duel type at you, you may not have any advantage. But I agree, maintaining WP for multiple weapons just so you can always have an advantage can be expensive.
  3. Not bad, I think the only singular types you won't have a 2x advantage against is vermin and electrical monsters. Other than that you should have a 2x advantage against everything else and a 4x advantage against beasts and fiery monsters.
  4. Actually the statistical chance of rolling SPECIAL DAMAGE are only 1/21 while chances of rolling a SHIELD are 3/7 so lucky heroes are more likely to roll shields. I know the feeling of enemies not being able to respond, but unlike other RPG's, the mechanics of Heroica only result in responsive actions on the part of the monsters and thus have a more difficult time of implementing any strategy that the QM would like to see occur. Edit: As an addendum, a lucky hero statistically has a 5/7 chance of dealing damage (Rangers have a 6/7 chance), and only 1/7 chance of taking damage via DAMAGE or SPECIAL DAMAGE.
  5. "Seem to be selling like hot-cakes, here ya are." Skrall handed over a scythe for another 115 Gold.
  6. Scythe: suitable to Rogues, Necromancers, Alchemists, and Artisans, so currently, no.
  7. Probably not. It's kind of hard to let go of doing 1500 damage in a single hit. Sandy, was there ever any intention to upgrade the weapons available in the Marketplace? I know that a few months after the game started the bumped up from WP 4 to WP 5, but were they ever going to go up again?
  8. "Seventy five gold would suit me just fine I think." Skrall handed the Precision Bow over before inquiring of the woman. "So, new to heroing are you?"
  9. It's sort of like weapons with special abilities, Anwyl still buys them back at regular prices even though they're sort of worth more. Also, anyone looking to sell any special equipment/weapons. Skrall's got 800 gold to burn and nothing much to spend it on.
  10. Yeh it's the same thing.
  11. The ogre took a sip from his tankard, "I do have an extra bow, can't say I picture ya bein' the archer type though. What sort of offer were ya thinkin' of makin', miss?"
  12. They should be.
  13. Before Skrall could even take a draft from his mug a voice inquired about one of the scythes, "My that was quick." The ogre withdrew one of the scythes strapped to his pack and handed it over to Sorrow, accepting the small pouch of 115 Gold. "Here you are. take care with it, that thing came from a beast four times my size. Have we met before?"
  14. Skrall tacked a small sign on the quest board as he walked back into the hall. For Sale: Wooden Shield (SP 5): 35 Gold Topaz: 75 Gold 3x Shark Jaw Scythe (WP 15/30 vs. Aquatic Monsters): 115 Gold each The ogre grabbed a tankard of ale at the bar before attempting to find an open seat.
  15. Skrall headed into the marketplace and unloaded some of the treasures he had acquired in the fields. He easily found a buyer for the Silver Ore for 60 Gold before he had the Emerald in his wooden shield removed by the blacksmith for 50 Gold, leaving him only 10 Gold richer.
  16. "Looks like I'll also pick up 6 of those Phoenix Incenses."
  17. It depends on the issue we're trying to resolve. If the issue is the gap between rogues and other classes using consumables than raising the price will not fix the issue, total removal would. If the issue is rogues are buying too many consumables than yes raising the price would fix the issue.
  18. OoC: Can extra GP be give to other people? Skrall strode over to Nur to hand him the Horse Shoe and Aqua Gear. "I think I'll try one of those shiny medals and perhaps two of those sacks of gold."
  19. "Hoke my friend, I believe you already possess the means to a weapon even more powerful should your patience withstand. Namyrra the mace is yours, everyone else 2 of these Titan Hearts a piece. If no-one else has any objections, I think I've seen enough of these fields. Let's head fer home." The ogre shouldered his bow and made ready to return to the entrance of the fields with the billy goat.
  20. While, it seems realistic, it really puts more work on the party leader as it's no longer as simple as putting the guy with the highest SP first in the battle order, he/she has to make sure they don't have too high SP. My inner QM really likes the rule because it means that players will be forced to attack either high level enemies or ones with really nasty specials instead of letting a counter-striking knight deal with them, however my inner player agrees with CJP in that it devalues knight classes. I'm more for the "mirror-type" counter-strike glove solution as it still respects the knight's purpose as a class and prevents the easy use of the wait-out strategy.
  21. There I think you're wrong, if you take a look at our first battle in the Eastern reaches we were nearly creamed and only due to a lot of consumables and some really good rolls were we able to even beat that one. It wasn't long ago that people started chatting up what would be the best team to take on the fields and now that we've got one that has been doing well it seems like people are saying that the fields are now too easy.
  22. Isn't that the point of there being different locations of differing difficulty? Also, I know that the QM's do impelemnt different amounts of monsters depending on the party so they do have some input on balance. I think the threshold monsters are set battles but everything besides that is QM dependent. Did you see the Eastern Reaches, even our party who's nearly bested two of the threshold monsters were barely holding our own.
  23. OoC: Unfortunately Skrall was using his Precision Bow which does less Damage. Skrall prepared to crunch down on a Health Core before taking aim with his Composite Bow at the Titan from the Back Row if Nur didn't succeed in healing everybody. "Nur, can you keep Hoke up? Alexis, if ya want to remain standing, I'd suggest usin' a Health Core if Nur can't manage to heal everybody." Battle Order: Nur Namyrra Namyrra Skrall Skrall Hoke Alexis
  24. "Keep yerself healed up Namyrra. If this doesn't work, we're goin' to have an even longer fight ahead of us."
  25. I understand that some QM's don't want to put more time into enemy design, but my point is that a time limit on consumables won't fix the problem and like Flipz says it will hurt more things than it will fix. Take for instance Meads, they don't affect the wait-out strategy but they'll be penalized by this rule. People can still employ the wait-out strategy even if such a rule was implemented. The only way to avoid the problem from an over-arching rules perspective, is to either change the free-hit mechanic or the "do nothing" option, neither of which I think people will be in favor of. Thus the only option in my opinion is better boss-enemy design.
