  1. It should be more circular.
  2. I think all the pilots at Endor just wore whatever helmet they had, so either the helmet from the set or an aviator helmet would work. I know there's one pilot that wore a helmet resembling the one in the set, and I know Green Leader (the one who flew into the Executor's bridge) had a helmet resembling an aviation helmet.
  3. I would disagree. To say that the sizing is only "a little off" is a gross understatement. Just look at a picture of the real thing and it should be obvious that the inflated cockpit destroys the shape of the ship completely. Not only the size, but the angle of the tunnel extending from the cockpit is all wrong, which in turn causes the mandibles to look even more awkward. And as I've mentioned before, the use of the 2x3 wing plates make the mandibles look skinny and elongated. And those equipment access bays should be huge, nearly as wide as a person is tall from what we see in Empire. Oh, and there's also a great big gap in the front that shouldn't be there. Detail-wise, there's less dark grey on this Falcon than there was on the last one, and there isn't nearly as much hull discoloration and exposed wiring as there should be, making the ship look too clean. This is an ugly representation of the Falcon at best, especially after the groundbreaking 10179 which has none of the issues I've mentioned save for the 2x3 wings (and it shows).
  4. Well, it's good for parts... Anyone else find it strange that we've seen minifigures for all the summer sets, even the advent calendar, except for the Hoth Base?
  5. Yeah, but this is Neo- '08 Clone Wars, so there's no way the Confederacy of Independent Systems would think of that. Therefore the base should be hot pink.
  6. Is it shiny? I thought the Scimitar, along with the Radiant VII, was one of the better-looking ships of Episode I, which just had a lot of bad designs (I mean, J-type 327 Nubian and MTT were ). It's sleek, it's not chrome-plated like the Naboo ships, and it's not made up of round lumps like the Trade Federation vehicles. The Scimitar's prow is supposed to be quite thin - granted, not as thin as they've made it on this, but definitely thinner than it's been on the last two renditions. And the bottom doesn't slope upward very much either. On the contrary, I'd say this newer Scimitar is a major improvement over 7663 and 7151. There appears to be a hinge on the nose, suggesting some sort of cargo storage, and in any case we all know the real reason LEGO made this set is for minifigure demand. Funny you should mention that - I haven't seen Episode I in a while, but I remember the Maul-Qui-Gon duel taking place next to the Nubian... I wasn't aware that they had re-hashed any obscure Clone Wars vehicles. Can you name one?
  7. That's like saying some U.S History teachers can't spell "Franklin Roosevelt". And in any case, if they've been informed of the correct spelling, shouldn't they use it? Did you even read my post? Because I'm definitely having trouble reading yours. Ah, I get it...
  8. Yeah, something like that... Could be a lightning gun. Colors aside, the mandibles seem too long but I can't say much more until I see more views. Seeing as it's in MLcad a top view shouldn't be too hard to get.
  9. Hey guys, remember this? You can just buy the minifigure off bricklink… It’s Millennium Falcon. We have a separate thread for this. It’s Millennium Falcon. And why the hate over rehashes? ? The set hasn’t even been released yet. Are you sure?
  10. Okay, who wants to tell I Scream Clone he misspelled 'millennium' on the front page? Er, did you mean to post this here? And what's an 'obiwan star fighter'?
  11. Nooo.... most of us wouldn't dream of gluing our LEGO together.
  12. I wouldn't say so. Although the mandibles are bigger, the port mandible isn't very well integrated with the rest of the ship, making it look unfinished. The cockpit appears to be even more massive than before (and they're still using that darn elongated piece), and despite that they still haven't managed to seat four. The equipment access bays have actually been shrunk, which is another step back. And the single pair of lights in the front just looks weird; they should have just left it as a tile.
  13. The Essential Guide is not a 100% reliable source. On the other hand, this is.
  14. But since you're using slope bricks to achieve the shape of the wing, the red markings won't extend all the way to the aft edge of the wing, which I think would look rather awkward.
  15. "Estimated time to firing range, fifteen minutes." "Dum dum duh duh duh dum, dum dum duh duh duh duh duh duh dum, duh duh duh dum, duh duh dum..." Seriously though, there's a limit to how thick you can make a thin surface. It doesn't look so bad with more compact vehicles like the T-47 or the Alpha-3, but I don't think it would be an appropriate technique for ships with thin wings like the ARC-170 or the X-wing. To each his own, I guess.
  16. There's the catch. I'm generally not a fan of LEGO's mini and micro sets because I think they compromise too much, making the vehicles only barely recognizable.
  17. Well, if you want to get right down to it X-wings are really more of a dirty white. Though I would agree that it's not exactly the correct fuselage color, I prefer LEGO gray for the X-wing because LEGO white just looks too clean. On the other hand, I'm glad someone shares my opinion on SNOT wings. (Brickdoctor, are you reading this? )
  18. Let's see, I know I found a couple somewhere... Front Side view, from Cato Nemoidia Top, from Coruscant I don't know where that second one is from, but the dimensions look about right. For larger models I would advise you not to go with canon dimensions, as those can be quite off (no way Vader's TIE Advanced x1 is actually longer than a TIE/ln). I'm certain that the proportions on Pepa's model are more accurate than those of Reto's - the difference in size of the noses of the two models should be a good indication. EDIT: For SNOT wings, you'd have to use Technic the way they did on 10212... or not, looking at the MOC Brickdoctor linked to.
  19. Biggie Smalls, Biggie Smalls, Biggie Smalls... That's a good idea. We could have a 'Links Index' divided into three parts. (KimT are you reading this?)
  20. Looking at this picture I'd say the overall length is about right. On my X-wing, one wing was 16 studs from the outer edge of the laser cannon to the inner edge of the engine, which is equivalent to the height of 13 1/3 bricks. But the section inside of the slope should be as wide as the entire engine, which itself should be roughly a quarter of the length of the wing, as seen in the picture I linked to above. How do you plan to apply identification markings? Will they just be decals?
  21. Well, you were arguing that the science-fiction elements of the Original Trilogy (e. g. the Death Star and AT-ATs) weren't any more realistic than those same elements of the Prequels (Lucrehulks, Hardcells, Venators). I simply meant that as the entire Star Wars franchise is space opera I can tolerate deviations from "realistic" science-fiction in that aspect. It's like simonjedi said. Whoops. Read my justification above. And as The Legonater just mentioned, the Original Trilogy is more realistic in terms of human emotion than the Prequels can ever hope to be. Not to mention that people who die in the Original Trilogy are people we're supposed to actually care about. I mean, Nahdar Vebb was in like, what, one episode before Grievous cut him down? I actually had a similar idea - what if we divided the LEGO Star Wars forum into Original Trilogy, Prequel, and '08 Clone Wars subforums? But then I thought, "nah, KielDaMan would never allow it." Ha-ha, very funny...
  22. As others have mentioned, bricklink is the way to go. And I would advise you to be more conscious of language conventions in the future (e. g. capitalize your 'I's and differentiate between 'your' and 'you're'), as this is an international forum and not everyone here is a native English speaker. This isn't YouTube/facebook/AIM/Myspace/Yahoo/flickr/an online chatroom.
  23. Sorry to sound like a mini-MOD, but everyone's posts are getting kind of hard to read... I'm sure we're all excited about the new minifigures but let's try and capitalize names and be mindful of typos and such*. How is a Naboo pilot a "Rebel" pilot? I'm pretty sure both of those points have already been mentioned. It's the Millennium Falcon... *In particular, Vassals with under 20-30 posts...
  24. It's space opera. It's not supposed to be realistic. If you want realistic go watch Star Trek or something. I think Brickadeer hit it right on the nose. I mean... "Hi! Your buddy here was about to be turned into orange goo. He picked a fight with a Dug. An especially dangerous Dug called Sebulba." "We will find out who's trying to kill you Padme, I promise you." "I'd rather dream of Padme. Just being around her again is... intoxicating." "You have changed so much." "You haven't changed a bit. You're exactly the way I remember you in my dreams. I doubt if Naboo has changed much either." "It hasn't..." "You are so... beautiful." "It's only because I'm sooo in love." "No, it's because I'm so in love with you." "So love has blinded you?" "Well, that's not exactly what I meant." "But it's probably true." Gaaahhh! That's why we're trying to be civil here...
  25. Considering the size of 7110 I'd say this is a bit too big. Maybe you're just used to the enormous model from 4501 and 8092. I would lose the tan... The side-mounted engines seem too far from the main body.
