  1. Well, I might as well name my army: The British Northwest Carribean Co., based in Port St. Brick (pictures coming soon) Ships: HMS Centurion, of eight guns In the shipyard: HMS Perseverance, of ten guns HMS Conquest, of thirty guns Armed forces: 8 dragoons (new redcoats w/ tricornes, gold epaulettes and backpacks) 16 line infantry (New redcoats w/ shakos, blue epaulettes, and backpacks) 16 marines/sailors (new redcoats w/ shakos and blue epaulettes) 4 Elite Marines (custom bluecoats) 4 Harbor Guards (New pirate captian torso - blackcoats) Command: Admiral Michael General Mark Duntley Captian of the Guard Raymond Smith Captian of the HMS Perseverance, John Richards Forts: Fort William: houses 10 soldiers and 5 guns Fort Matthew: houses 20 soldiers and protects the harbor
  2. Though I'm no expert on the subject, I believe a ship should be six times as long as it is wide, and two times as high as wide. X=width 6x=length 2x=hight
  3. I agree, I'll be modding mine a little bit, but I am pleased with the general look of the ship.
  4. Does anyone have any other offers? I'm placing a bricklink order on november 1st, but I would prefer to use this medium. Also, I have 20 cutlasses and 16 pistols to trade as well, if anyone wants to.
  5. Yes, it's a good symbol, but it needs to be about the size of a pirate flag from the new line. That way, it will be visible from multiple areas.
  6. Agreed. If I had seen all 3 decks, I wouldn't have complained. That looks amazing. Keep this project up, you're moving really fast.
  7. It's pathetic, isn't it. And also, if you check out the MOC gallery, you either come up with jedies, pirates and a couple of stormtroopers and soldiers and a description that reads: "tha pirats ar tryng to gt th soldrs treser! 20 votes to se whoo wins", or you come up with a picture of one of our MOCs under a different name. I've seen Apache's artwork, Zcerberus's port, PTV entries, even my MOCs (really!)... it's really annoying to have 9 year olds post MOCs under their own name and with terrible spelling. I pretty much avoid that forum. In my opinion, I think that the soldiers are the good guys, trying to defend their port town from the ruthless, gold obsessed pirates.
  8. *Thwacks head* I see. It does look good, and very striking. I understand what you're saying, and I guess it's a matter of opinion. For the 36 pounder, definitely the enlongated one with a gunmetal barrel. Do you think that you could show us a broadside picture? Thanks.
  9. Wow! Your ship is progressing really well! She's quite a beauty, your doing great. Though I'd reccommend a tan deck, black is a good color, also. I really like the cabin, and the interior is looking great. Good luck on this project!
  10. This is a really great ship! The proportions are perfect, and the shape is really nice. I would have reversed the color scheme, but I realise that not everyone has that many black pieces. How many guns will she have? Or, perhaps, enlarge or enlongate the base, or make it brick-built. That way, it will appear to be larger, and therefore more powerful. Good luck on this project!
  11. Sure! I like your idea, it might get this build moving yet. Sounds great! Maybe you can make a flagpole near it, and we can design a flag for our new nation. This settlement needs a monument. Glad to have you on the project, Steel Dragon. I think 30 and 34 are open. I'm not actually sure if we will ever meet, considering how far apart we are, and with airfare these days... Eventually, everything will be built in real bricks- I just don't have that many bricks of the right color in the real world yet. Basically the idea behind a community build is that a bunch of people get to gether to share their building experience. I think.
  12. Congrats Skipper, what are you doing? And do you think you could take on another square? We're fresh out of volenteers
  13. That's ok, everyone is like that sometimes. And yes, they should release BP's at intervals, like with Castle. This could be quite profitable for LEGO, so I think they might buy the license. Megablocks's Pyrates isn't doing so well, so they might sell the rights to lego. Anyway, it's mostly wishful thinking. On to WAVE 2: Escape From Kingshead: The island prison/fortress , controlled by the EITC, in which they do all of their less-than-legal deeds. Includes Kingshead Gate, the ramp leading up to it, a dock, and a hanging cage. Includes Jack, Pirate prisoner, and 2 EITC soldiers- $20 Kraken Encounter: The turkish fishing vessel (civilians, hint hint) that becomes the first victim of the kraken. Incorperates the ship bow and stern pieces of the Viking Longboat. Has a single mast with a large triangular sail, along with fishing nets, barrels, and crates. As for the kraken, it is made up of 4 sets of 4 interlocking segments which can be posed at different angles and are long enought to wrap around most ships. The set includes 3 turkish fishermen- $25 Cannibal Village: Includes the beach, several trees, 2 native huts, Jack's throne, a fire-pit, and a rowboat. Native's huts have removable roofs and detailed interiors. Includes Jack, Will, Joshamee Gibbs, and 3 natives- $50 Fort Charles Extention: Includes 2 towers and 2 wall sections- one with a jail built into the side, the other with a colonade. includes 3 cannon, Jack, Will, Lord Beckett, Elizabeth, 2 redcoats, and 2 EITC Soldiers- $60 Tia Dalma's Shack: Tia Dalma's house on the river. House is built on stilts, with a removable roof. Interior includes lots of voodoo items and mysterious junk. Includes a rowboat, Jack, Will, Joshamee Gibbs, and Tia Dalma- $30 Shipwreck Encounter: A wrecked ship built on a 16x32 baseplate, surrounded by wrocks. Built by SNOT, it includes the upper deck of a ship that is partially submerged and surrounded by rocks. Includes 2 sailors, Will, 2 fishpeople and Davy Jones- $40 Beckett's Office: A 2 story house, similar to MMV. On the first floor, there is a small barracks. The deck can be lifted up to reveal the cargo hold. A tan stripe runs the length of the ship, from Bow to 1 stud from the stern, where there is a yellow captian's cabin with large windows. Includes Will, Merchant Captian and 3 sailors- $60 The Flying Dutchman: Includes 10 guns on 4 midsections and a high stern. Similar to the Black Pearl in size, but with important details like a brig, captian's cabin with organ, tri-barrel carronades at the bow, and a barricuda prow. Incorperates Characteristic high stern. Includes Davy Jones, Will, Bootstrap, Jack, Elizabeth, 4 Fishies, 2 pirates and 2 EITC Soldiers- $220
  14. Oh. My. God. This is fantastic. The masonry technique is brilliant, as is the stained glass. This is just beautiful, As always, a great MOC. Excellent job, 5 stars
  15. Thanks, but I did include the interceptor- It's between "Rumrunner's Isle" and "Tortuga"- And it's quite similar to the ship you discribed, except I did not include the play feature (though I should have). Yep, but there would probably be five, and those would be between waves 2 and 3, when all the factions are revealed. The battle packs would be: Character (Jack, Will, Elizabeth, Barbosa, Governor Swann) Redcoats Pirates East India Trading Company (bloody murdering basterd blackcoats who issue a statement of marshal law at the beginning of the third movie and kill half of Port Royal's residents for acts it deems unfit) Davy Jones's fish-people ( )
  16. Though it is mostly wishful thinking, here are some sets I would really like to get from the first movie. I tried to make them possible and the prices realistic, because we all know they will be outrageously expensive if POTC is to be released. If you haven't watched it, you probably won't have any idea what I'm talking about, but anyway: Isla del Muerta: Cave, 2 normal chests filled with tresure, dark bley chest in the center with the cursed gold, Jack, Will, Elizabeth, Barbosa, And 3 undead pirates-$35 Fort Charles: 2 fort walls, fort tower, 3 cannon, 4 redcoats, Governor Swann, Commodor Norrington, Jack Sparrow.- $60 Port Royal: two houses (Will's blacksmith shop, Inn) , slightly smaller than midieval market village, dock, crane, dinghy, 3 redcoats, Norrington, Jack, Will, and 3 townspeople- $90 Governor's Mansion: 3 rooms, built like a doll house- includes dining hall, entry hall, and Elizabeth's bedroom. Well decorated interior+exterior. Includes a Horse-drawn carriage, Governor Swann, Elizabeth, Will, and 2 redcoats- $60 Rumrunner's Isle: Includes Jack, Elizabeth, 3 palm trees, Rum Cellar-$15 HMS Interceptor: Similar in size to the old Imperial Flagship, 2 guns on either side, 1 midsection, and the prominent yellow stripe. Well-decorated stern, and partial upper deck which can be covered by "grille" pieces. Includes Jack, Will, Elizabeth, Joshamee Gibbs, and 3 redcoats- $70 Tortuga: similar to port royal, but alot less organized- includes a tavern, a covered stable, a one-level house, a dock, a dinghy, Jack, Will, Elizabeth, Joshamee Gibbs, 2 pirates, a bar maid, and 2 pigs.- $90 HMS Dauntless- 6 guns, 3 midsections, removable top deck, well-crafted stern and cabin, prominent yellow stripe crossing gun ports, 3 masts, headrails+prow, realistic shape. Top deck features dinghy, ships bell, capstan, and steering wheel. Cabin is on the same deck as gun deck. Includes Commodore Norrington, Governor Swann, Elizabeth, Will, Captian Barbosa, 3 redcoats, 2 undead pirates- $160 The Black Pearl: 8 guns, Four midsections, Angel figurehead, Well crafted stern and cabin, Mostly black, 8 deck/swivel guns, detailed cabin, realistic shape, 3 masts, removable deck. Includes Jack, Barbosa, Will, Elizabeth, Joshamee Gibbs, 4 pirates, and 3 undead pirates- $200
  17. Freakin' awesome. Honestly, the 2 go perfectly together. I've started on my 3 builds, I still need an OK from thrash to use space 33. If anyone else wants to join in and put a MOC in somewhere, feel free to voluenteer! Oh, and just wondering, what was it again that we were protection ourselves from again?
  18. Exactly, thanks for the pictures. If you get any more, i'd be happy to take them off your hands From now on, please keep the topics to trades only, unless someone has a question. Thanks.
  19. I can't at the moment, but here's a piece description. Tricorner: a hat with 3 points, used on the redcoat soldier leiutenants. It has a spot to hold a feather. Pearl gold epaulettes: Brickbeard's shoulder pads. printed shakos: The tall, cylindrical hats worn by normal redcoat soldiers. It has the royal insignia and a red plume built in.
  20. I am building a redcoat army, and I need some uniforms. I plan on having 24 infantry and 16 marines, and their uniforms require some pieces I don't currently have. I need: 10 more black tricornered hats (high quality) for my marines. 16 pearl gold epaulettes for my infantry. To trade, I have 16 black, printed shakos, 16 brown pistols, and 20 dark grey cutlasses of high quality and from a smoke-free home. I will ship in the continental US and I would prefer to trade in lots. I request that the pieces I trade for be from a smoke-free household and be in good to mint condition. I am willing to accept offers, but they must be reasonable. I also will not trade in amounts less than 4 shakos. Please post your offers in this thread. If I find it reasonable, we can discuss shiping. Thank you in advance.
  21. Talk about a delayed reaction... Anyway, when do you think the next edition will be up? I mean, it's been a whole year now, has the concept been given up? And how about the comics? Them too?
  22. Well, you've got a good ship to start. I agree with Joey that you might need more money to build a better ship. Anyway, no one person can tell you the secrets to making a better ship, but I think that you need to start small and get bigger. Another good thing is to slope the sides of your ship, and also to make the lines smooth. But you did do good for being relatively new. Welcome to the forums!
  23. Hail the Pirate Lords ! TLG has smiled upon us! Now I don't feel as bad about the theme ending as I once did, this is fantastic. I love pretty much every aspect of it. I'll probably add a triangular sail to the stern, but otherwise, I'm so glad this was made . It's exactly what I wanted in a ship, and it was less than what I thought would be the cost. Now I'll have 2 ships in my navy, so you better watch out ( ) ptcruisen82, I don't think there will be any more ships this year, though it would be nice, I think this is the last pirate-themed set we'll see until we get pirates again. You could make a "superbounty", by combining 2 brickbeard's bounties like I did. They don't look half bad.
  24. This sounds great! It'll be the first EB countest i'll enter. I gotta pick up another soldier's fort before it's all gone in 2010. Good luck to all!
  25. Wow! It's come along really well! I can't wait to see the finished project!
