You're not Rick, are you?

I was able to display at Brickworld this year and had a little trouble when I first unpacked the boxes I had shipped from CA to Chicago: But was able to rebuild most of the MOCs I brought. There are some old favorites of mine plus some new buildings. I hope to be able to photograph them and post topics for each one before I pack them up into my parents crawlspace and head back to California. Fenrik Fox's cottage Gaellen Goat's cottage Brando Bulldog the Butcher and his wife Clarice Cow Wolfrik Walrus the Fabuland Baker Ranulf Rabbit and Beegan Bunny's farmhouse Fabuland Firehouse Fabuland Train Station Gryfon Goat's Mill Gordon Gorilla's cottage And here's a quick little example of how pulverized everything arrived at this year's event: Moments later: Thanks for checking out the topic and please feel free to leave feedback.

This was my fourth Brickworld, 3rd displaying, 2nd presenting and 1st as a coordinator. I spent a lot of time on coordinating the MOC cards and presenting and missed the social aspect this time. I know that for Brickworld 5 I will display with and near my friends and stay at the hotel so I can get out of Brickworld what I enjoy the most. Being around my friends and connecting with other AFOLs as a group. I also should take some extra vacation time next year. My family and friends really want to spend time with me when I'm in town and I need to feel I can commit time to Brickworld and still see the people I love and miss. That being said, this Brickworld was very rewarding but also very stressful. I was incredibly busy helping out with the event but my own display was a bit of a challenge as well. It began as a pile of bricks due to poor shipping practices: And came together all right in the end: Next year, I'll be part of the display with Stash, CopMike, I Scream Clone and Quarry whose Wild West display was awesome, not to mention nominated for Best Display! It was great to see Dave and Stacy and the ToTLUG display again: I realize that since so much happened in my life after last year's event I had no time to improve my train knowledge. So Dave has been incredibly patient with me the last two years, trying to explain to me why the way I build doesn't make the train go. My train keeps stopping, literally just quitting. Not sure why yet, but I hope to learn why by next year so I don't have to bug Dave or burn out my motor. The most inspiring model to me was Michael Rutherford's "Traders on the Rift." We also got to meet Norro! He's a great builder and an awesome guy and I hope we get to see him again next year: Other EB members we got to hang out with include DaleDVM: fallentomato: ricecracker: and Sir Nadroj: In the end, I was able to stay at the hotel an extra day and got that social aspect I had missed in the first couple of days. It really was an awesome event and I'm looking forward to being just as involved with Brickworld 2011. Thanks to everyone who made it such an awesome event.

Aw, damn. I should've thought of that. Next year I'll also be a Fabuland parts vendor. Duh...

I am bringing: Brando Bulldog the Butcher Dempsey Dog's Bookstore Gryfon Goat's Mill Fenrik Fox's Cottage Wolfrik Walrus's Bakery FABULAND Sherwood Forest (by CopMike and me) Captain Siegfried's Clam Trawler Walrus Island And a variation of this MOC with a new name and occupation. I'm also bringing the train I brought to Brickworld last year. I can't believe I haven't had the time to post it yet! My life has been a non-stop roller coaster since last year's convention. I have three new MOCs...Maybe there were four...Won't know for sure until I unpack it all. But, the whole layout this year will be the FABULAND cottages.

*Inexplicably, William stirs and rises from his slumber. Donna tries to get him to rest. Surely, he mustn't be up and about after being tranquilized twice in one day. But William is definitely awake and something about him looks different... This game will pause now and conclude in July. Please look over and discuss the clues and events in the discussion thread. Try to piece things together in the mean time. Thanks!

OLD Mafia and Mystery Games Index
Hinckley replied to MagPiesRUs's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
After this chapter of Red Moon closes, there is only one chapter left which will be delayed for a month. A new mystery can start in the meantime... There aren't any more big puzzles to solve for Red Moon, just whodunit, so people can participate in a new one and finish up Red Moon once I get back... -
*Diesel and Sylvia attack the specter with their swords.* *This spirit dissipates much differently than the wolf or DJ Nolan...* *In an explosion of red light the dark figure fades and is pulled into the Earth. * *The group decides to explore the baths, but on their way back through the Grand Chamber another ghostly vision appears...* *Siegfried Harcourt: He's gaining power by making sacrifices. Perhaps we need to make a sacrifice ourselves to end the cycle.* *One of the tour group says: "Some people call ghost sightings Psychic Imprints. The believe spirits are stuck reliving the same moments to correct a mistake or put their spirit to rest."* *Another psychic imprint appears in front of the tour group:* Monica Maltese: The scriptures said that we need to find the place where Vaccuus was first invited into the temple. Esurio brought him into the temple through a room that wasn't originally part of the structure. How is that possible? Jonathan Falcon: Maybe it's those baths. They seem a bit out of place. Siegfried Harcourt: It would be more obvious than that. And the room where the baths are was part of the original structure. It had to have been. The scriptures said he summoned something. What does that mean? Monica Maltese: Where are the scriptures? Jonathan Falcon: Mantino must have them. Monica Maltese: How will people be warned of this in the future? If we fail, the scriptures won't be around to warn people! Siegfried Harcourt: We only learned where the scriptures were by the guidance of the spirits. Hopefully, anyone who is stuck in our situation in the future will have spirits to guide them. Jonathan Falcon: After what happened to us in the baths, we should leave one of the swords there. Whoever finds that chamber will need the sword. *Before continuing to the Baths, the group is halted by another psychic imprint. This one of someone a little more recent... Johnson Willoughby: I know it's you. I checked the tour roster and your name isn't on it.* *The spirit of Johnson Willoughby grasps at his abdomen as he falls to the ground in a pool of ghostly blood. The imprint fades as Johnson Willoughby is dragged off towards the West Library where he was discovered earlier.

Dystopia - Confirmation and Discussion

I can't believe the entire game has run it's course before even two chapters of Red Moon could be completed... -
Red Moon Confirmation & Discussion thread
Hinckley replied to Hinckley's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
I'm going to split this chapter in two. I will do my best to finish this one ASAP. I'm afraid the game will have to pause after that. I am going on a business trip for a month and have to move out of my apartment before then. Then is Tuesday... Sorry to do this with the game so close to an end, and after you've all been so patient with the slow pace of the game. But real life has to take priority here... -
*The shadows snake into the courtyard again, ethereal tendrils reaching out from the jungle and beyond death. They form another vision*: Robert Mantino: While we were busy fighting off that tentacle thing in the East Library, she was taking gems out of a secret compartment. You know something about this temple, Monica. You've awakened the demons to kill us so you can have those gems. Monica Maltese: Jonathan, Siegfried, listen to me. I looked into his eyes and saw the eyes of a demon. It's just like that scripture said. Jonathan Falcon: We checked everyone's eyes... Monica Maltese: But if he knows you're looking he can make you think he looks normal. Remember the scriptures! Siegfried Harcourt: Let's all calm down. Robert, please stop treating the lady with such disrespect. We all want to live through this and the scriptures said we need to find the sku... *The vision is cut short and the figures swirl into an inky gray fog...* *...and into one of the shadowy robed figures.* *The robed figure moves aggressively towards the group.*
-
Aaron, why do you want to send messages to people already? You're a new member with only three posts. May I inquire as to what it is you have to message people about?
-
*The swirling shadows move quickly from the shadows to the courtyard. They swirl momentarily around the large urns before materializing into a vision: Jonathan Falcon: Monica, what is it? Monica Maltese: Here are the remains. Jonathan Falcon: How did they get here? Monica Maltese: I'm not sure I want to know. Jonathan Falcon: Where is Siegfried? Monica Maltese: I haven't seen him since the snakes came. Jonathan Falcon: Did they get him? Monica Maltese: I don't think so. I don't think they got anybody. I think the snakes are a vision. Jonathan Falcon: What? Monica Maltese: One of the snake seemed to go over my arm, but I didn't feel anything. That scripture we found said the one who awakened the demons would receive powers: superhuman strength, the ability to make others hallucinate...I think it's that Mr. Mantino. Jonathan Falcon: What makes you think that? *There is a loud roar. Both apparitions turn off towards the jungle.* Jonathan Falcon: It's back! Monica Maltese: Run! *The vision fades.*

*Ooops Yes, the tranquilizer gun was very loud to scare away cheetas or whatever that security guy said.* As the air glows a darker and darker shade of red under the full lunar eclipse, the group hears voices seeming to come from all around them. The wildlife goes eerily still, the wind stops blowing and odd shadows begin to move around in the jungle.

The group is severely disoriented after the events in the Ceremony Chamber. Everyone takes a moment to catch their breath after the tragic losses they have suffered. Unfortunately...evil doesn't take a break. The crown appears again. This time it floats only above Penny's head. She tries to shake it, but it follows her floating just out of reach. Nobody can grab it, no matter what they try. In addition, this time, the crown appears with a skull in it. The skull inexplicably begins to speak. It says "Crown the Damned Queen! Feed her virgin blood." before disappearing. The silence that follows that odd incident is shattered by a blood-curdling scream from the courtyard. The odd engine/chainsaw sound is heard again, followed by the sound of gunshots. Everyone rushes to the courtyard to behold a horrible sight: Sandy's remains lie on the altar. The tranquilizer gun lies on the ground close by. An unconscious William lays on the ground across from her. Donna rushes to his side and realizes that in addition to a tranquilizer dart in his neck, there is a large gash and a lump on the back of his head. Fred Thomas checks the tranquilizer gun to discover it is out of ammo. Due to the despair and odd onset of disorientation, nobody seems to remember who had left the room or where everybody was when they heard Sandy screaming. Objective Who is the one person who has caused the 8 murders in the tour group? How do you stop the cycle of evil to escape alive? Start keeping track of the evidence. Discuss what you have learned and seen. To solve any of these mysteries, PM the host. Solving it correctly will change the game play depending on your character and which mystery you have solved. Mysteries can also be solved in the thread by the group. Just reach a consensus before submitting a guess. You are allowed three incorrect guesses before you are comically killed off of the game, so think before solving. ________________________________________________ Rules for Game play (borrowed mostly from Dragonator's Mystery Manor) There are to be 21 participants. If you commit to the game you are committing to contributing to the story and sticking with it to the end. I am trusting you all not to drop out halfway through, as that is never any fun. The winner will be announced at the end of the game. Players will be scored along the way on certain criteria and completion of objectives. This will not be clear until the end. Ask questions for clarity along the way, but don't be surprised if the answers are cryptic. Of course, to win, you must survive… Attempts to solve the mystery or objectives can be postulated in the game itself. The truth will be revealed at the end. If someone solves the mystery before then, the mystery will play out and that player will be given points for solving it. Throwing out constant solutions will only get you killed. If an objective is to find out who stole something and you end up posting a guess of every other player, your latest post will be taken as your solution and you will be killed anyway, so just don't do it. You must search for clues. This means that an action must be specified. For example, you wish to search a room for hidden objects. The following is an example of how not to go about this: "I wish to look for suspicious or hidden objects in this room". Instead, you must be able to specify what you want to do. For example: "I would like to open the drawers of the cabinet." It is not required for you to specify exactly what you are doing and what you are looking for, but a generalised statement will not find you anything. Act like a detective and you will be fine. Dynamic Actions: Actions you wish to carry out without all of the other players' knowledge can be PMed to the game host, Hinckley. You may or may not be allowed to do what you request. Attacking: I have setup a system for attacking and defending that is needlessly complicated and I won't try to involve you all in the specifics. At a certain point, you may want to attack another player. PM me your attack and I will answer if it is plausible or not. Some characters just would not attack another player, based on their character description. Some characters are stronger than other when it comes to defense and counter-attack. So think before you attack. Life points: I am using TheBrickster's life points system, however I will not bother you all with the details. Just be careful and do your best to live. Host response time: Please be patient. You may bring the story to a point where you need the host to further game play. I will be on top of this game as much as possible. Please be patient with me between chapters as well. The game host is always right. Please don't question the rules or the info you are given. Take the info I give you and work with it. If you're terribly confused, please say so or ask questions. But, if I don't give you any further info, please be patient with the info you are given and try to work with what you have. Stagnant game: If you find yourself trapped in a room, it is because you need to find a clue or you've missed something. Don’t argue with the game host. You’ll be there until everything that needs to be discovered has been discovered. This game is meant to be fun, so enjoy yourselves! Please try to avoid editing your posts, as it can lead to suspicion against you. Just consider what you want to say before you say it or even proofread and you'll be fine. Failure to follow these rules will result in a warning. A second failure will result in the humorous death of your character. Cast of characters: Pleas note: more character info will come to some players from the host before each chapter starts. Sylvia Berent played by Svelte Chris Owen played by The Crazy One Siegourney played by Siegfried Richard Sexton played by Ricecracker Donna and William Falcon played by Dannylonglegs and WhiteFang Diesel Nolan played by Dragonator Penny Maltese played by Peppermint_M Sheldon Wills played by Shadows Samantha Cole played by I Scream Clone Tony and Ingrid Peck played by TinyPiesRUs and iamded Fred Thomas played by fallentomato Diana played by Sir Dillon "Dead" Jack Baxter played by Jim Butcher Hector played by Hinckley Stanton Sexton played by Striker Tour Guide Johnson Willoughby played by TheBrickster Quentin Mantino played by Quarryman Zachary Fortem played by Zepher DJ Nolan played by Millacol88 Sandy Sanders played by Zapper Brick

Hmmmm... I'll have to push that back to after Sandy's. Packing and moving to a new place now and still finishing up the Mystery Game. Sorry about that... -

Red Moon Confirmation & Discussion thread
Hinckley replied to Hinckley's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
New chapter will be up this weekend. -
*The first aid kit has been retrieved. There is one room left to explore plus the locked door to the "ship" room. This chapter has concluded.*
-
*It doesn't matter who that is, it matters what they are drawing you to.* *Sheldon and several others begin attacking the tentacles with the bones. The tentacles do not like being stabbed with the bones.* *Diesel begins shearing off tentacles with the sword. However, they just continue to flail about the room, trying to ensnare somebody...* *It seems whenever somebody takes a gem, the basin replenishes itself.* *Sylvia begins slashing at tentacles with the same result Diesel has.* *Samantha grabs a red gem and waves it towards the tentacles. They do not seem to be affected by the gem.* *Finally, someone is right. Ding Ding Ding Ding! Fred remembers the lever moving something but never seeing a result. The lever control a pivoting wall behind the panel. The panel was only opened after it revolved one time. The lever must be pushed again to see what's on the other side of the revolve.* *Penny and William push the lever down and the wall where the gems once stood revolves, revealing a lever. The pair do not hesitate to pull it...* *Siegourney comes to Chris's rescue and puts herself between him and the tentacles. They are up against the gate, which begins moving...* *A pissed off Donna attacks a tentacle with her Zach (or Stanton) bone. The tentacle, after being stabbed by the grieving mother several times, withers and disappears.* *Diana hides behind Ingrid who seems to be doing an excellent job keeping the tentacles at bay.* *Chris Owen finds the strength to lunge for Rich and pulls him away from the tentacle. Once Siegourney realizes what is happening, she helps Chris drag Rich out of the Ceremony Chamber under the retreating gate.* *Sylvia switches to a bone and stabs her way past the remaining tentacles, while Diana sees the opportunity to escape behind the swashbuckling blond.* *Ingrid and Tony kick some major tentacle, bone-stabbing the remaining tentacles on the north side of the room into dust.* *Sheldon grabs Sandy and retreats to the safety of the Grand Chamber.* *Donna and Diesel, together, stab the living crap out of the remaining tentacles until they are all vaporized.* *The group, safe once more-at least for the time being-reunites with William and Penny in the Grand Chamber.*
-
*Diana once again saves the day by solving a puzzle correctly. Although the wheel continues to count down back to its original position, the puzzle triggers a door in the wall. The large column in the center of the north wall pivots to reveal a large urn and a ghostly figure in robes.* "Do not be afraid," He says, "My name is Dayus and I am a guide for your quest. You have survived the traps of this room and are now rewarded with access to these gems. The green and red gems sit in this urn. You shall each take one to guard you through the rest of your journey. The bright red gems will protect you on the path to the good and light side. The dark green gem can also protect you, but only if you choose the dark path of the evil demon Vaccuus. The choice is yours. Penny's grandmother knew this stone would protect her granddaughter and that is why there is one in her necklace. The gems that Sylvia carries have the same properties as Penny's necklace. So do the gems in this urn." "As for DJ, I have some grave news for her family..." "The trap that has caused her current condition is a blow dart containing a shard of a dark gem. Once the granulate from this gem entered her blood stream she is as good as lost to us. The gem carries part of the being of Vaccuus and had already consumed her body. However, her soul can still be saved. I believe you know how that must be done." *Dayus glances at Diesel.* "I wish you luck on your quest. Beware the families that remain intact. Vaccuus and his followers will concentrate on breaking you up. They thrive on pain and sorrow. The more tragedy you suffer, the stronger his servants become and the stronger Vaccuus himself becomes in turn. I cannot help you further on your quest. This temple is haunted by the spirits of some of your loved ones. Their souls wander these halls trying to prevent others from succumbing to their fate. They cannot help too much though, for as you saw with the young Stanton, Vaccuus can claim their souls for his own if they meddle too far. Master Harcourt is bravest and best at evading capture. The Physic Impressions of the Lunar Eclipse are near. Heed them. They will guide you on your path..." *Diesel and Donna knew what must be done to save DJ's soul...* *Donna couldn't watch as the young Diesel advanced on his wife, who was turning grayer by the moment...* *The bright spirit of the young DJ emerged from the gray mass her human form had become.* "Fear not my love," the normally quiet DJ told Diesel, "We will be together again some day. My soul is free now. Thank you. Take care of my parents. I cannot risk my soul's escape, but I can help you by telling you that there is one in our group who has caused all of this harm. I love you my sweet Diesel. I love you with all of my heart and my soul..." *After her spirit disappeared, nothing remained of her body...* *After Dayus disappeared, Sylvia found a second sword had been placed over the urn of gems...* *Dayus's voice rang through the chamber: "Use this weapon on your quest and beware the minions of Vaccuus. Now that you have survived the Ceremony Chamber and proven yourselves virtuous and worthy, they will be coming for you..."* *No sooner than Dayus's voice faded, the wheel clicked into it's original position and black slimy tentacles burst through the chamber's alcoves, searching for the members of the tour group.* *Tony and Ingrid fought valiantly against the tentacles, but they were getting closer and closer to grabbing Tony...* *Siegourney and Rich try to move the feeble Chris Owen out of reach of the horrible monsters...* *But, Rich is grabbed by a tentacle and tossed up in the air.* *Meanwhile, Penny and William stand in the East Library idly staring at the wall while the others fight for their lives.* "Too bad we're too lazy to re-read the other chapter or even suggest things to touch or look at..." *Luckily for everyone involved, an apparition shows up to point them in the right direction...* Each participant should PM their choice of gem to me...

Red Moon Confirmation & Discussion thread
Hinckley replied to Hinckley's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
I am swamped and way behind with updating this topic. There is a major update on the way leading up to the conclusion of this chapter. It is almost finished. Hang in there. I hope to get things wrapped up tomorrow night. In the mean time, perhaps you guys can help Penny and William figure out the missing clue by re-reading the East Library chapter and figuring out what could've been missed... Thanks, as always, for your un-ending patience everybody! -

*This is the correct solution and it triggers quite an amazing phenomenon (which will be up shortly...)* *It's not the statues. The statues are both gone. You may remember interacting with them after you woke up in the East Library after being tranquilized...*
