  1. Then again, maybe I'll get to posting some more tonight: Brekyn Bulldog, the FABULAND Fire Chief Full Gallery on BrickZone.net All of my FABULAND creations I wasn't too happy with this one when I first finished it, but it grew on me the second time I built it. It was pulverized during the great Brickworld UPS shipping disaster of 2010. The randomization of bricks is a new technique I like to utilize. Don't look, just grab. The random effect is very cool, in my opinion. The four types of brick are tan, tan tile on headlight bricks, new medium nougat and some very special FABULAND brown bricks. Some other shots of the Fire Station: I've been meaning to use this arch for a modular City Train Station but it hasn't yet come to fruition. I've had a silver bucket for a while in hope I would need a bell for something. I'm happy with how these doors turned out. But, do they open? No... And the truck is a bit of a recycle job, although I do like the style. I don't mind all the trucks in my FABULAND layout being similar. I wish I'd had more time to make this more unique though. There's always time, though... Full Gallery on BrickZone Enjoy and, as always, please feel free to leave feedback Thanks!
  2. Another MOC from this year's Brickworld. Gordon Gorilla, FABULAND Mason I meant to post this sooner, but as has been the case for me lately. Life just kept getting in the way. I'll try to get all the MOCs from Brickworld up this week, but you'll probably see them after Thanksgiving I apologize for the poor photography. I had to do a makeshift photo setup in my parents' basement the night before I left to go back to San Diego. I'm leaving the Fabuland Builder's Guild creations at my parents' house so they will be easy to bring to Brickworld every Summer. As much as it hurts to not have them with me, it's better than shipping them to Chicago only to open the box and find them all pulverized...which is exactly what happened to me this year... Full Gallery on BrickZone.net My other FABULAND creations Does this MOC look familiar? That is because it is a re-build of a MOC intended for the Kingdom of the Lakes, my "Castle" story which is now three years late... The original MOC was Pell's Cottage, which I have actually removed from BrickZone.net to prepare for the first chapter of Kingdom of the Lakes, coming God only knows when. But, it's written and ready to be filmed, just a lot of building standing in the way. Pell's role has changed considerably since I first started writing. He is no longer a woodcutter and has no use for a quaint little cottage. Interesting tidbit for those who follow my website: Even if Pell's character hadn't changed the figure needed to. When I first joined Eurobricks, I grabbed a photo of the Pell figure and used it as my avatar. Pell has become Hinckley, the bucket-stealing wedgie victim. He would be wildly inappropriate to use to portray Pell. More pics from this MOC: I'm particularly fond of this door: And yet another complicated chimney to discuss: Full Gallery on BrickZone.net Enjoy! And, as always, feel free to leave feedback. Thanks.
  3. No! Never. That is one MOC I will keep intact for as long as I can. It makes total sense. You end up being forced to consider the texture of every brick you choose. If one means a certain texture, it can't possibly represent another texture. Brick=stone? What planet are you from? I struggled with the shutters. This is the version I was happiest with. I'm fine with them being flush, but I really don't like the color. But, what color was I going to use for wood after assigning textures to brown, dark brown, tan and dark tan as stones already? Duh. Sorry. I had to photograph these quick. It was the night before my plane left. None of the new MOCs are photographed well. I had to throw together a makeshift setup in my parents' basement. Thanks for the advice! And thanks to everybody who commented and provided feedback.
  4. I love the shape of the park, I like the layout. I like the tiled ground. I really like that you put a pattern into it. I like when there is thought put into every detail like that. The archway looks a little thin for a stone arch. I would imagine it would crumble in real life. It looks more suited to the geometry of the LEGO bricks than it is to representing a stone entranceway to a park. The cross doesn't look like a cross to me. I think with the Technic pieces, it looks like it's supposed to be ornate, like a Spanish style cross, or something in Old World stone work. It doesn't work for me as a war memorial cross. The base is great. I really like where it's heading, I just think the cross is not great yet. My favorite part, though is the water fountain. Brilliant little bit there.
  5. We call that an echo. There may be an explanation for all of those things, like you said, but the sum of them altogether... especially the direction-changing fireball is pretty freaky. Strieber! I read that book when I was 11 and sometimes still can't sleep thinking about it. I was just talking about this to my best friend yesterday. I used to sweat profusely I was so scared trying to fall asleep at night. That book almost made me go insane. Every noise in my house was some thing coming in to get me. Have you ever seen the movie version? It's not great, the book blows it away, but there are a couple of freaky parts. Some things from the book are very well captured. Others...nah. Okay, ybmagpye has reminded me of another story that happened to me also when I was 11. I was at a sleepover with about 20 other kids in the sixth grade. We were 11 and rebellious and we were out to cause trouble. It was around September and just starting to get cool but still nice enough that we were outside for most of the night. The kid who's house it was at lived in a forested area of the Chicago suburb we lived in. The properties were set apart by a lot of trees and the roads were not on a grid, they were windy and private to discourage people from coming back and bugging them. So, we all went out real late to break windows. Seriously, that's what we set out to do. There was an abandoned house and we were going out to break windows in it. Twenty of us. No matter how stealthy we were, 20 kids is never inconspicuous. However, we went to the house, a kid on crutches used his crutch to break the window. At the sound of the glass breaking, the lights at the property next door turned on. So, we all ran. Most of us stopped a couple blocks down in one of the foresty patches. One of the guys flagged us down to stop us, so we could listen to hear if anyone was chasing us. That way, we could get off the road and hide in the trees. So, we look back down the street and there's a lampost at the intersection where we all turned. On the other side of the intersection, from the lamp post, is a stop sign. There's a person standing under the stop sign. At least I think there is. I can't tell. It looks like a person, but it looked weird, like what you see after staring into a light for too long. And then it waved. And then it started dancing. It would walk to the edge of the trees and then back to the street and then stop and look towards us. But, there was such a weird quality to it, I couldn't say I was actually seeing anything. I thought fear was just playing tricks on me. I was 11 and had just read a horrifying novel about alien abduction by Whitley Strieber, so I was used to my mind concocting things to be afraid of. So, I just shrugged it off. Later, when we got back to the house where the sleepover was, one of the other guys said "Did you guys see that guy dancing by the stop sign?" I got chills. He went on to describe exactly what I saw. Nobody else had seen it and I was new to the school, and on the edge between liked and disliked so I just went along with the crowd and didn't tell him I had seen it. But, the fact that someone else saw it means something, or somebody was there. Just not sure why anybody would behave that way and why it looked so weird...
  6. It's back up... Maybe there will be a preview set in December as they've done before for Atlantis and other themes.
  7. Perhaps you could post a separate topic for advice on building instead of posting this in somebody else's MOC topic? That would probably help it get the right attention and get you some better answers. To get rid of the gaps, use brackets: I'll separate this discussion into it's own thread, if you like.
  8. I noticed that. Confirmation would be great. Then I could frontpage the news.
  9. Excellent work lightningtiger. This is the first MOC of yours that I'm responding to, but I see that you build a lot. I think you've got a great eye for the proportions and you made all the right choices here to make a LEGO version of the loader. I have two criticisms, one small, one big. Small criticism: the portion of the back of the loader where you've used the dark gray 1 x 2 x 1 1/3 modified brick with curved top: I'm not sure why you've built this taller than on the original. All of the other proportion are the same. Maybe a 2x4 45 degree slope would work well here? Or some of these: Big criticism: It'd be nice to see some SNOT work on this one. The shape of the original has very specific proportions and it'd be nice to see some sleeker angles and even tighter proportions. The back of the IRL loader has a thinner panel and doesn't come out along the edges so much. Your loader has a bit of a wide megablocks in comparison. Maybe playing around with some 1 x 4 bricks with side studs or brackets, and some plates and tiles would give it an even better shape. Nitpick: I like the colors of the original better. A green one would be cool, but I'd rather see it with green where the red is and the rest of it white. I know those liftarms don't come in white but perhaps using some different pieces for the liftarms could work. Overall, I think it's an excellent build and represents the original well. I hope you don't think I'm picking on you. I just see that you build a lot and I thought I'd give some advice on how to challenge yourself or get some more detail out of what you're doing. Keep building, keep up the great energy! Thanks for posting so many great MOCs and keeping our Town Forum active.
  10. Odd. That page is down now. Even though it still links to their products page...
  11. Would you believe they're already out of stock? Thanks for pointing this out lightningtiger.

  13. That is probably meant more to be a fig pack. The ATM and ATV are both really light on pieces. Everything's official! Time to pin the topic! I think it's good for minifig scale. The last one was enormous. I really love this dog, as someone said, especially with the printing. The backpack, yes. I need 100! Please don't use so many emoticons. 14. If you read the topic you would see that we've already pointed that out and are taking care of that. Maybe you should follow more closely. Come one, you knew that screen name was gonna come back and bite you one of these days. And they're "ads," not "adds." Sorry to pick on you. It was fun, though.
  15. Nannan, I moved this topic to this forum because I believe it will receive better attention. BSTF forum is more for people wanting to trade and looking for good deals. This forum is higher in the list and is more likely to be seen by the philanthropic. Best of luck! I love this idea and I hope this year is very successful.
  16. From EB member and Brothers-Brick contributor Nannan:Hello Eurobricks, From now until early December, you can buy a custom Lego creation made by Lego fans from around the world. All proceeds will be used to give Lego sets to underprivileged children during the holidays. This is an annual opportunity where Lego enthusiasts use their creative hobby to support a great cause. As buyers, you can own the original creations from a diverse array of builders and customizers, several of whom are among the best at what they do. To get started, visit the store on Bricklink to purchase a creation. Many of your questions can be answered there as well. Take a look at a sample of what’s for sale below. More items will be constantly added throughout November, so check often! We accept creations for the fundraiser until December 1st. We also accept monetary donations at the store. For either form of donation over $50, you will receive an engraved Creations for Charity 2010 keychain assembled and glued by LEGO Certified Professional Sean Kenney and topped with a real gold-plated Lego brick from ChromeBricks. I sincerely hope you’ll take part in this event and help us set a new record. You make a lot of kids happy. Merry Christmas! . . . I will greatly appreciate it if you can spread the word. Thanks! -Nannan Discuss this news here
  17. Happy Birthday Peppermint_M/Janice! Have a good one filled with friends and LEGO, of course!
  18. (via The Brothers Brick)"We regret to announce the sudden and unexpected passing of Dan Jezek, owner and founder of BrickLink.com. Dan will be greatly missed by all of his family and many friends at Bricklink and around the world. A memorial fund is being set up and will be announced at a later date. If you wish to send condolences, you may do so via e-mail to condolences (at) bricklink.com." Josh at Brothers Brick puts it best, I think: "It is quite possible that there is no other person who has affected the Adult Lego Fan community as much as he did. The hobby would be much the same if any of the other fan sites had never existed ..., but the hobby would be a very different one if Bricklink had never been. We owe Dan an enormous debt of gratitude." Bricklink - In memory of Dan Jezek 1977-2010 Discuss this news with the Eurobricks Community here
  19. I bought two of the airships off of Bricklink a while back. A while meaning I still lived in Chicago. I mean to make Steampunk zeppelins out of them, but never got around to it. I'm glad you did, though! Of course I love the story. Way to add to a great MOC with an awesome, creative, fun story. I love it. I really love that you incorporated the zeppelin piece into the whole airship instead of just having the ship hang below it. The cargo bay beneath and the bridge wrapping around it are a cool concept and you pulled it off nicely in the build. It's hard to appreciate the shape of the ship when the zeppelin piece is very rounded. But, the "sculpting" you did of the ... (I'll make up terms here) elephant tusk staircase and the roundy part are excellent. I love the rotor housings and the engine...block...room...something. It's well built, I'll just say that. Cool design! Way to nerd up the story with your superior brain and technical mumbo-jumbo. Great job! Good to see you building. Wish I could It's all about me
  20. Awesome creation, Siegfried. This is one of my favorites of yours. It really shows off your smartyness. It's nice to see you tackle a complicated Technic build. Really cool Hero and awesome back story. As always, I love the creativity that goes into the story that revolves around your MOC. My favorite part of your MOCs are these elaborate, goofy and creative stories that accompany them. Haven't seen a lot of Hero Factory MOCs yet, but I have noticed the pieces seem more advanced than the Bionicle molds. Or maybe I just like the faces. Anyway, it's awesome to see that green wheel put to good use and I really like the organic look you achieved for Von. The one thing I wish we had with LEGO was a beast factory, that looked organic instead of metallic. But, what you've created manages to look both. Very cool spikiness to go along with your smartyness. Awesome work, Sieggy!
  21. Respect my smartyness -because I've been extra smart this week! Meaning, I've been an idiot.
  22. I don't think you appreciate the joke. It's a clever entry MaskedBuilder. Great sense of humor!
  23. I'm from Chicago and work for LEGOLAND, which is owned by Merlin, not LEGO. Hinckley trivia! And thanks to you for making my birthday weekend special! Thanks you Alice. Great to hear from you. Hope you are doing well.
