Unrest in the Forest, Day 1: Rush
Hinckley replied to Walter Kovacs's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
Well, he did say this : I don't like the definitive "that's why he's flailing". We can't know it's why (unless you're a Maple), we can only opine. I've just thought of something potentially disturbing: If Alastair is Scum, and I'm saying if then his request for Bruce to help disband the bandwagon could be really telling. The entire assumption behind asking Bruce is that he's the Speedy Oakiest of Oaks. That would mean if Alastair is Scum, he's asking who he sees as the Town leader to disband the Town bandwagon. The request assumes that all the voters are Townie. How else would the entire bandwagon fall apart? Maybe Maples would lose confidence in it too... Maybe my thought isn't fully thought out. But I thought it was worth discussion. -

At least you said nothing. So Larry's not exonerated? It sounded like you cleared him. Way to metagame, by the way. Perhaps we can judge everybody by their previous behavior. Then we'll win, right? -

"Your" is a possessive. "You're" is the conjunction of "you" and "are". And you're not right. A Maple might defend a Maple for such a thing and I stated it's possible (and that's my original feeling) that a Maple would defend an Oak to appear helpful! Don't unvote for the wrong reasons. Larry is still Scummy! -

Lemonade out of lemons. I'll agree but we also shouldn't discard the possibility. This is all an "if" anyway... It seems Scummy to me because nobody is even lynched at this point and momentum still could've gone anywhere. Everything is magnified in Scum perspective. Granted, I think Alastair has different cognitive processes than I do but I would've started with "I'm an Oak" not "I'll make you a bet". That just sounds manipulative. Asking might not be Scummy, but suggesting for the sake of gambling is, in my opinion. I agree that you're making a good point. No clarification has been made about the random vote idea...which is just a terrible (perhaps Scummy) idea... -

I read too quickly the first time and actually missed this part of your post. This is really Scummy, although you have broken the rules to bring us the information. I like my vote on Larry, but Unvote: Larry Larch (TheLazyChicken) and vote: Alastair Pear (Brickelodeon) Catrina may be super fluffy but she's right about one thing. An oak should be willing to sacrifice himself for the greater good. If you're an oak, why do you need to plea to someone in private to save you? A true Oak would be trying to find Maples, not trying to save their own bark. -

How did he break rule 6? Oh duh. Sorry. Now I see it. -

I'm not sure anyone trusts you. They shouldn't, at this point, anyway. There's no reason for anyone to trust anyone at this point, at least not if you're an Oak. The Maples know who they can trust, of course. But just because only two people are voting for you doesn't mean the rest of us "trust" you. Simmer down, little sapling. -

It's not too late. Her prolonged fluff did ping me as well and you've made really good points about her contributions since. Something is weird in the Catarina/Hazel/Alastair triangle. I guess I'll be added to her Maple list now. He would have to be an Oak to mean that though, right? -

I can't speak for Hazel, but I'll repeat my suspicion: it pinged me because it was just a defense. You didn't add your own suspicions, you just defended someone, specifically Berty (more than Bobby, in my opinion.) Again, I find this Scummy because Scum perspective puts you in the state of buddying up to Townies, appearing like you're contributing (by defending) but forgetting the point is to find Maples. It was a ping because it seemed like a subtle Scum slip. "I'm contributing but I'm not accusing anyone but hopefully making some friends." I've seen it happen before and even done it when playing Scum. I'm not suggesting Berty and Bobby are Scum, just you. -

Interesting. You would switch that vote (for someone nobody else voted for) in order to get a lynch. But, what do you think of Alastair Pear? What's your opinion on his level of suspicion? -

What??? You were wrong to justify her vote for a random player because you thought she be at a different intreenet running machine. :wall: Am I even talking to the same person? I'm not a fan of Alastair's answers, but I hesitate to move my vote over. Is Alastair terrible at communicating and the Scum are taking advantage trying to ensure an Oak lynch? I've seen many situations where some Townie digs themselves a hole on Day One because they absolutely suck at communicating. The whole Hazel/Alastair/Catrina triangle is odd. There's a lot of bickering going on there. I'm trying to make sense of it. -

You can drop the "or two" part. It was one. You've made a really good point. While the contact has been suspicious, it wasn't definite. As I've said, Bruce contacts me on Day One in every game we play, whatever that means, since IMHOTEP. But, what really bugs me is that he hasn't shown any suspicion to me at all. I know I'm not a Maple but I'm the only one who should know that. Aren't I worthy of at least a little suspicion? I don't think his behavior so far is too far outside of his normal game play, but that certainly doesn't exonerate him. It's really hard to hear someone say this. Claiming to be the strongest Oak of the day can be over-confident or Scummy. You've played both ways. You've said to me in private that you think Alastair and Berty are definitely Scum. What about me? Why have you got such a strong Oak read on me? I've gotten zero scrutiny from you. Absolute zero. -

Maybe he meant two many times. I think she was insinuating you made a Freudian type. Either way, it's clearly a typo. Freudian typo, I meant. -

Maybe for the same reason you chose to contact me privately and tell me you thought Alejandro and the other people contacting me were Scummy. Sometimes it helps to see what you can get out of people in privacy and anonymity. But Alejandro revealed himself without me needing to and I got to see how William and Bruce reacted to the discussion of Bruce's suspicion. If I had just come out and said "Bruce thinks William is Scummy" I wouldn't had a chance to see how William reacted to my contacting him privately nor would I see if it made Bruce nervous that I was contacting William or that it was being discussed publicly after William revealed the communication in the day thread. So, then last ask you the same question. Why did you come to me privately and tell me you thought Alejandro and the other people contacting me on Day One were Scummy. What did you hope to gain by telling me that in private and not saying it to everyone in public. And now what are you baffled about my behavior? Can you be more specific? -

Internet aside, she says she read the Day and only came up with puns and maybe she would randomly vote. Nobody cares about her internet excuse now. The answer you got pinged everybody but somehow satisfied you. That's what is suspicious about you. -

This bugs me even more. Bold added for emphasis. There's a lot more than puns in this discussion. I don't know if you're a lazy Oak or a Maple that thinks it's a viable excuse to not cast a vote, but neither helps us find the Maples. -

I am surprised you are satisfied with her plan to vote for a random player. How does that satisfy you? -

I'm not convinced my vote is in the best place, but I've seen Scum perspective before where a player thinks they need to ingratiate themselves with Townies and just defend players either to make friends or to appear like they're making positive contributions and forget that they should be finding suspicions, not rationalizing other people's suspicions away. That did make me laugh out loud. Even better is that Hazel offers to throw out a random vote.
