Lego Superheroes 2013 Rumours & Discussion

There is a reason why the show is called the Ultimate Spiderman. Nick Fury, like some of the others, are based on their Ultimate Marvel appearances. Ultimate Nick Fury was modeled after Samuel Jackson on the agreement that Sam would play him in future films. -Omi -

It isn't uncommon for comic book movies to have more than one villian. The TDK trilogy had 3-4 antagonists each from the comics for the movies. Iron Man 1 and 2 did well with the pantheon of villians too. Superman wouldn't be different. The original movies (particularly I and II) had both Zod and Luthor. -Omi -
WW2 and general warry-ness avoidance on the part of LEGO corp.

I know, and I made a point of just making the models that were in such war, and the other 2 that preceded and followed. In a sense, a possible loophole (even though Lego strictly states no military, but there is always hope). And I ended up getting into this debate, which I didn't mean to insult. But back to the point, Lego can get away with Green army guy in a tank VS tan army guy in a plane. Generic uniforms like they did with the Indy sets. No specifics, and you choose who the bad guy is. And of course there will be that certain group that will bicker about it, but at the same time, they will bicker over anything. A custom "terrorist" fig made by BrickArms was mistakenly associated with Lego and the people were like "shame on you Lego for doing this", when Lego was like "uh we didn't do it". -Omi -

Right, so who was the good guy and bad guy? There had to have been one of each. You missed my point, which I applaud you for. There was more to WW2 than just Nazis and Germany. Or are your history books not up to date? So why not a theme called "War" or "Battlefront", not World War? Are people that insulted by tanks and stuff? I underestimated the sensitivity you have when it comes to tanks. But not the entire role, which is what I am saying. Everyone here is just cancelling out everything else that happened in WW2 and just makes it all about tne Nazis. -Omi -

I just did. Except the Cold War was mainly between USA, England, Russia, and China. Nazis, if any were around, were pretty much stamped out. Communism was in and fascism saw its way out. -Omi -

Fair enough. :P I just like avoiding assumptions sometimes, especially if a newcomer comes in and mistakes it for facts. :/ -Omi -

Because it wasn't Nazis at war. It was the Axis powers (which believe it or not, alos included countries other than Germany) VS the Allied nations. The Holocaust was just a piece of what went behind the scenes of WW2, but it was never what the war was about. It was preventing invasion and facism being spread over the entire world. Not a lot of us even knew what was going on until after we went into to stop them. We didn't go in to stop the Holocaust. We went in to kick Hitler off his pedestal and kick his megablocks out of Europe and help -everyone- that was affected. Then we have Pearl Harbor and the atomic bombs. Were Nazi's involved? Nope. Ben Afleck had more involvement with that than Adolf Hitler did. This topic is, but my responses were more of a solution of getting around that "ewwww WW2" vibe everyone is giving off. Must I repeat the whole "would anyone be offended by tanks and stuff?" And they didn't. So what did a protest on the movie have to do with it? No but it stereotypes today's demographics. Is the present not as important as the past? And back on the good guy VS bad guys. In the Western theme, who was the good guy? The Cowboys? Or the Indians? The Cavalry? What about the Pirates theme? Pirates? Islanders? Armada? You have a blending of different cultures right here. -Omi -

I don't understand why you are surprised. Sorry but I grew up with the Green guys vs the Tan guys. That's a logical way to make it happen. And I said inspired. Doesn't have to be entirally based. No I didn't, because everyone protests, and it probably wasn't that important anyways. Besides there has been backlash with the Friends line, and yet Lego is still making them. -Omi -

I didn't know Mr. Freeze dressed up as Batman in The Batman. Please refer to the quote I cited, cuz that was who I was talking about. Right, and that artwork could have been used for Batman. -Omi -

I don't think of Nazis when someone mentions WW2. I think of WW2 when someone mentions WW2. Plus the Nazis wasn't the only thing. There were other things going on during that time. And 6 year olds already do, just in different forms. GI Joe is a good example if you delve deep enough. And aren't you over-generalizing just a bit? I said Lego doesn't have to make Nazis if they were to make stuff inspired from the World War and Cold War era. Nazis weren't involved in WWI and definately not involved in Cold War. -Omi -

Well he doesn't look like that in any shows or comics. Lego is known to mix up designs in the sets. This set uses the Batsuit inspired by the one in the Buron films (the utility belt is the dead giveaway, plus the suit is all black which isn't a trait from the comics and cartoon as such), while Two Face uses the design inspired from the animated series. This set has Riddler based on his Frank Gorshen outfit and Bane from the comics. This set has the Batsuit inspired by The Dark Knight design and the set is included with Harley Quinn, who is based on her animated series form, and plus she was never in the movie. Same applies with this set with the TDK inspired suit included with the Joker based on his non-TDK appearance. These don't make sense. The mix up designs formula was also used with the new Batman sats, with another black suit Batman mixed with comic Two Face, and Tim Drak mixed with Blue Batman. Right, and ok? I'm talking about what Lego uses for references in designing their figures and them mixing them together. I don't care what Rocksteady does, as they aren't involved. Also that Robin may not be based on his AC design, as that design is actually Damien Wayne originally, and Robin has used hoods before in comics. -Omi -

Well seeing as it was earlier posted that Freeze is based off his Arkham City design, the White Batman can be based off his white artwork from the game, which isn't a freeze suit, and could be with the Arkham set instead. -omi -

This is going with the assumption they would actually make Nazi minifigs, right? Cuz they don't have to make them. That's the problem with the first page, which I read, is everyone jumped to conclusions with the whole "Nazis blah blah". Cuz like I said, would anyone really be insulted by tanks and stuff? No, of course not. Cobi and Oxford monopolized with military themes without involving Nazis. -Omi -

The same reason Gandalf the White was discussed as being a Gamestop exclusive with a Gamestop manager confirming it, and then ruled out as false with Elrond being the fig. Prelims always change, am I right? -Omi -

I don't see a problem with tanks and guns and stuff inspired by World War and Cold War eras. But given Lego's stance on the issue, give it 50 more years. Cuz really, who would be insulted by that? -Omi -
