LDD 4.2.5 is out
Superkalle replied to Superkalle's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
I think your critism is just and healty. After all this is LEGO Company we're talking about, so the quality expactations should rightfully be very high! But as Calabar said - there was no software changes planned at all in this release - it was only about removing DbM+LU. That new bricks were added was just a bonus. About the screen resolution issue - if I were you, I'd write to LEGO Consumer Services and tell them - with screenshots and all, just to make sure it's reported and documented. -
LDD 4.2.5 is out

It's not to hard to wrap them around manually to be honest. And that's how you'd have to to it in other CAD-tool, so you have to view the "connect" feature of all the other 99.9% bricks in LDD of being something out of the ordinary, and the chain+wheel as the standard for other tools (It might even be a template for the tracks + wheel, but maybe someone else knows) -
Hello everyone OK, after some intensive work mapping the new bricks in 4.2.5 to BrickLink counterparts, here is LDD Manager 0.99! New features in this release: - Full support for 4.2.5 Or rather for the bricks that existed in BrickLink as per today, January 20th. For example there was a few Collectible Minifigs series 6 utils that weren't yet parted out at BL, and those are therefore not included. But otherwise it's all there. - Color substitution analysis. This is kind of a cool feature. If you've ever had a MOC or official set, and wondered if any of the colors can be changed to something else, this is for you. A typical scenario would be that you've made a MOC with some nice trimming in some color. Now you wonder, can ALL those parts be replaced by an other color, for example Red or Lime. Or if you have a set, like the 3177, and wonder which other colors that can be built in. - Similar part info If you've used a part in LDD that gives you a warning "Color does not exist", then this feature will search the database if there is any similar LDD part that exist in that color, and you'll be notified. Basically what this does it bridge over similar parts in LDD, for example 60212 and 3788. It will also give you a warning if you do the classic mistake of using the 3066 1x4 Brick without pins instead of the 3010 with pins. - More advanced batch LXF replace I added the possibility to use color as criteria when batch replacing or deleting bricks from an LXF-file. It's not a feature you would probably use very often, but if you need it, it will save a lot of time. - Updated Brick and Color reference info LDD Manager has a very accurate and up to date BrickLink to LDD color mapping. It also has the only search function that I know of that allows you to find bricks based on their attributes (i.e "which bricks have a 3.2 mm bar AND a Technic Hole). I'd like to take the opportunity to say a big thanks to Aanchir who helped me to map all the new decorations to BL counterparts, and to Bojan for some other help. Download Download LDD Manager here. And be sure to check for updates now and then. And as usuall - if you find any bugs or miss some feature - let me know.

Yes, it seems a handful of SW torso decoration have been removed. But no wigs (or other parts for that matter) have been removed. -
LDD 4.2.5 Bugs

Yes, I think you're right too. It seems to be one of those cases where we have a part in LDD that is "in transit" to being made into an Assembly. Extended Mode is still very much a fan oriented "snapshot" mode in the sense that we get also the parts that are in the making. -
Adding to ok13's comment: 1) You've used the incorrect green color on the truck. It should be 28-DarkGreen 2) The garbage will actually fit in the bins...if you can jolt them in there. What people normally do (if they are in the mood for some advanced stuff) is to build some scafolding and "build" the banana and fish into the bin. It's cool to see Batman with headgear and cape

LDD 4.2.5 Bugs
Superkalle replied to Zerobricks's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
From what I understand, when a new LDD release is released, they take a snapshot of the brick that have been completed up until that moment and release. The good thing for us is that we get our hands on the very latest bricks, the bad thing is that some "series" of parts (like Collectible minifigs) apperantly get choped off. -

You should defintetly contact LEGO customer services and let them know about this weird situation! The new LDD palette is certianly very odd with so many pieces that have never been produced in that color . They could have made the palette 1/4th of the size it is today and only included high volume parts/color combinations, specially since bricks are not possible to order anyway. And that there is no connection from LDD to PickABrick seems to be making a lot of people confused. -

Well, that is the odd thing; because all the parts actually have ElementID's. So I guess at some point in time they were registed in the LEGO part database and assigned an ElementID. Perhaps they were made in small batches for internal testing, or just as placeholders for parts-to-be, or maybe for LEGOLand use? Here is an example of such an odd colored brick: 3937 ROCKER BEARING in Transparent Green...with ElementID 393748 Actually, looking through the palette, there are actually quite a few of these "odd ones" whre the ones that are sticking out are the transparent colored, like with 4229 and 2417. -

I agree - only DbM is closing. PaB is still open for business. -

You're right - it is weird that LEGO does not want to increase/promote brick purchaes through Pick A Brick. I'm guessing it's expensive for LEGO to pick orders through Pick-A-Brick, and maybe they think that model builders (for example using LDD) would only order very few of each part (one of that, three of that etc) to make a model. I think LEGO want Pick-A-Brick to be more of a bulk buying store. Having said that, I think it's strange that they don't just imposse some limits on the amount of bricks that people need to purchase. That would be the easy way to solve the problem. An other reason they may not allow buying bricks from LDD, is that there is some work to make sure that LDD only has the parts that Pick-A-Brick offer at all times. Imagine the frustration if you make a model in LDD, and then you find out you can't buy the bricks because LDD and Pick-A-Brick was out of synch. For LEGO I guess it's a quality assurance issue. In any case, I think LEGO have a communication problem here because many people don't understand why they can't buy brick at Pick-A-Brick through LDD. -
LDD 4.2.5 Bugs

You have to click twice on the chain part. First time it shows you the green arrows around the brick. Second time there is no green arrow, but if you then rotate (with the wheel), it happens. At least for me. -

If you go into building guide mode, and then click the "Generate HTML" button, at the end there is a list of parts. Is that what you mean? PS: if you have a lower resolution screen, the navigation buttons in the HTML pages will unfortunately be out of view - you have to scroll down for every next page....it would have been better if the buttons where placed at the top of the page. Of course it's not crashing the program on purpose. It's a bug in LDD (and a nasty one). It's been discussed earlier somewhere here in the forum (but I can't remember where). -

I'm not sure what that comments is supposed to mean. What do you mean "every new print"? That is just boardering on funny to make bricks smaller Maybe it's a feature. -

Yeah, I heard that the reason it is 3 high, is because it can then use a standard Technic pin, and then designers can easily chose to make it with or without friction depending on pin used. So I guess we pay for that one plate extra height with increased versatility.
