Fixed. You have to try harder Balthasar Nah, just kidding - this one was tricky, I have to admit. The trick was to....Well, I'll make that a challenge out of that to everyone else. Ps: Don't attach your files to the post for anything else then temporary stuff. You only have 100kb of space. Instead, start an account at Brickshelf and link the files here. I think we have a guide how to do that somewhere (don't we Calabar ) 8256_fix.lxf

about XT4's torso
Superkalle replied to bacem's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
This definitely seems to be a brick bug in LDD. Just noticed that actually any size shell/shield won't snap to 98590. -
Are you sure it's not supposed to be 60594, because 6016 fits into that?

That is true. But I guess you have to weigh this against the user base. I'm just guessing that the number of user would be very small (no offense bbqqq ). IMHO, the custom bricks are mostly to validate/play around with ideas, not to use as a key building block, since they can't be used IRL. I still maintain it's a good idea, but it should be very clear that the custom bricks are not LEGO-bricks.

I guess with LDD it would be a problem since people may become confused which bricks are only virtual and which are produced as physical bricks. So for TLG, I think they will continue to maintain a strict "physcial bricks only" policy. Also, a comment/feedback on Mecabricks and the custom bricks; is there a way to make it even more clear that they are just custom bricks. It's very difficult to tell for a casual user that those bricks doesn't exist in real life. Maybe put them in a section at the bottom of all the other brick categories? And maybe there can be some sort of notification message when people open a model that contain custom bricks - "Please note that this model contain some bricks that have not been made as physical bricks"...something like that. Even though I like the idea with custom bricks, I also feel it must be very, very clear that they are just custom bricks.

You used the wrong plates. Replace 1x12 Dbley ones with 1x10's and the the bows should fit.

Hi drofnas. Welcome to EB I had a look at your model regarding your errors, and I think I found the cause why there was so many. I belive that at some point during your building you have (maybe accidently?) rotated the model slightly. I can see this, because in may places, alignment is off by a fraction of a millimeter, and using the rotation tool I can see that some parts are not always perpendicular against each other. Have a look at the attached pics and you'll see what I mean. I tried to fix the model, but had to give up after a while. I think the only way to get it right and have all the pieces fit correctly is to redo it from scratch (or at least dismount it a fair amount). Sorry, it may not be what you wanted to hear, but I think it's the only way. (Pics are only temporary. Let me know when you've seen them and I'll remove them). EDIT: Images removed

Isn't it about time....
Superkalle replied to BasOne's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
I'm not sure about you building the entire frame yourself Alisdair. Kind of takes away a bit of the RCB idea. Still I can see why it might be needed since Technic is a bit more difficult to just "add on to". Still, I wonder if there is some other model that can be built with Technic elements and where everyone could start more from scratch. Or have you kind of homed in on a truck? -
[Software] LDD Manager
Superkalle replied to Superkalle's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
@clizara - Isn't that a BrickLink question rather then a LDD Manager one? Or have I misunderstood. -

This is as good as any place to discuss. Alasdair, why don't you present your idea a bit more! -

At the moment we have Alasair Ryan offering to host a Technic RCB Alasdsair - are you still up for it? Anyone else? If so, now is the time to step up to the plate -
Wow, that was a more serious collision error - we're talking about a millimeter or so IRL, so clearly an illegal design from TLG. My only guess is that IRL, the neck-part is flexing so much that the jetpack will snap on anyway. I'll have to think about a fix for this (if there is one).

Ah - the dreaded illegal-by-technic-brick-offset thingy. I managed to fix this though, by placing the minifig last - see attached file. 8631_jetpack_pursuit_fix.lxf

It's a great idea. To be honest, I think we're looking for volunteers to run/host it (at least that's what I recall). Regarding topic, I guess that whoever volunteers pretty much gets to chose So if anyone is up for it - holler! -
LDD Timelapses.
Superkalle replied to Alcom1's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Yeah, this was really interesting to watch. Great job (And the train model was really cool too ) -
Looking at it, I found that it's actually not the slope that is the problem, but the 1x1 round plates at the rear. If you remove them, the tyre will fit. I looked at the building instruction, and can confirm that you built the model correctly. So in this case it's a matter of a model done at TLG that was never test built - otherwise they would have caught the error (since the 1x1 round plates clearly intersect with the tyre)

LDD Field of View.
Superkalle replied to Alcom1's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
As far as I know, there is no way to change the FOV inside the LDD GUI. If you want to get a "screenshot" in a different FOV, your best bet is to use LDD2PovRay and generate an image that way. Oddly enough however, I found that if you edit a LXFML file and change the FOV to something, for example "fieldOfView="30"", and then SaveAs to some file name, the preview PNG-file inside the LXF will have the FOV you stated. Off couse, that small PNG can't be used for much, but still an odd little quirk, see below -

That is even weirder. I think we need a proof-picture on this one as well.
