  1. same here, in fact i dont even know many stores that sell lego now woolworths is closed. just argos and toys r us but their selection locally is awful.
  2. for 'professional' its not good or detailed enough to be quite blunt. im not saying i could do better but when you put such a price to your work it does lead to judgement. as a piece done as fun or with no price attatched to it, its amazing and without the pic of a person in it too you wouldnt realise how big it was.
  3. Here is my first moc since joining the forums, its an 8x16 snowed in scene cut out into the 'action'. Partly inspired by the simpsons episode but not meant to represent it. After being stuck for weeks, canabilism was the only answer to get the energy to try to dig out. A search rescue is also looking for any signs of life. I hope this is posted in the right part of the forum, sorry if it isnt. I dont think i've used any rare parts but thought i'd upload it anyway MrChris
  4. i see your also from the UK, i wouldnt bother TBH the Euro rate now means it will be very expensive compared to what your used to paying.
  5. about 50/50 s@h and official shop. woolworths was good for indy but they will be closed down soon. i like shop at home but postage seems very dear, most online stores give free postage and US gets free for over 99$ so would be good to have UK free postage over £75 or less. plus the shop gives the stamps... im sure it costs loads more to drive (about hour and 15, but i get 61mpg apparenty) but you get the stamps so it seems better value LOL.
  6. should i buy greengrocers and castle tower raid before or after christmas, i'd prefer to after but will they be discontinued for 2009?
  7. really like the western series so this MOC is great. western sets (the bank, jail and shop) were some of the last i bought before hibernating for many years. good find
  8. another vote for BTTF!! the townplan set's town hall reminds me of the BTTF clocktower!
  9. Lego disneyland/world would be great, all the buildings to cafe corner standard, a train with station, maybe some of the rides. I cant imagine this would ever happen though. Lego austin powers would also be cool, it would be like a humerous version of agents Pirates of the caribbean as a subset of the new pirates range would be good perhaps to replace Indy if and when that goes (I like the series but think it will only last another year or so) mrchris
  10. im thinking UK prices will rocket as our currency has plumeted :( no 2009 sets anywhere yet so not sure. I wonder if prices will fall again for USA as maybe the rises were made when oil had rocketed but now its back down again the costs must have falled a lot for bricks being moulded now.
  11. The giant minifig reminded me of the great sets i saw on my holiday! Went to S@H and couldnt resist. With the £1=$2 back then i probably should of tried fitting some in my suitcase, ah well.
  12. my friend at work sent me this and we came up with some great dark ideas for lego models that would get the awful UK press up in arms. I dont think i should repeat some of them though.... but i might try and make some dark humoured scenes when i get time
  13. I work with someone who apparently used to do this for a job... i dont know him well enough to ask him about it though
  14. The range is ok, certainly best ive seen (toys r us in general) apart from lego shops. they have offer when you spend £75 at moment but you have only a week or two to spend the bonus £20 after christmas.
  15. Hello from Chris :) First post after getting back into it after over 10 years, i had a loft full and was tempted after seeing cafe corner in florida downtown disney, eventually bought a set after the mega mini fig washed up on the shore here in the UK and it made the news. Am currently building a table in my loft and washing 10 years worth of dust off my town and boxing it orderly!! it used to be on the floor but... im getting old(er)!!! its survived very well though. have already bought about 5 sets, unfortunately most of my bricks are the old colours - i love the new range of colours so need to stock up on them before i can get some MOC's going. anyway hope to become a reg and will try my hardest to keep to the EB standard!! mrchris :pir-skull:
