  1. new argos catalogue has some of the new indy, power miners and construction sets in, no pirates though.
  2. Market street is as close to this as you will get then, so its possible a similar building and price range will come out thats also a 32x16 building rather than 32x32 (i dont count the side bit on marketstreet!). lots of the suggestions in this thread would work well as a half width building.
  3. I cant believe they destroyed that amazing farm. Nice work
  4. Agreed, these cheaper detailed buildings already exists with the creator line so dont go cheapening or down scaling our cafe corner style sets

    Fire House

Brilliant A theme that is on my moc list so really liked your pics. I never imagined the shutters would work well in a building to cafe corner standard but this prooves they do.
  6. I would love lego to make an advert with a man riding a cow singing, similar to the Ambrosia (custard) advert we had in the 90's, although it offended lots of country folk
  7. A department store would be great, and lots of detail on the inside with different items on each floor, and there are many worldwide which have great architecture so it would be a realistic set. A mall or shopping centre as we call them is a great idea but would need to be massive so i dont think it will happen and they are usually quote modern might not be as interesting unless it was based on e.g. that famous one in Sydney, now that would be something!
  8. "Today, we simply call them Legos" No 'we' don't. Only Americans use that term, everyone else finds it annoying well deserved fortunes though, unlike banks or oil tycoons.
  9. So was I actually
  10. about 30% higher than RRP. sometimes they have offers that say 25% off and they are still dearer than elsewhere.
  11. Wow, its something i wanted to do but didnt think it was realistic, certainly wont bother now ive seen this and how good it is
  12. Just built this but didnt unwrap it
  13. unfortunately stock is quite low in the shops i know of, argos may have some stock of new sets when the new catalogue is out on monday so worth a look if your still here then. depending on the spare time you have you can get the train to one of the lego stores. You can get to bluewater in about an hour, same for milton keynes.
  14. Hopefully it was a good year for them, after all more sales = more sets and choice :) as long as people are buying what we consider good sets of course
  15. i voted pieces, as at the moment i am trying to boost my new colours as most of my collection is the original colours with just a few brown and old grey. So if its in the sale and has good pieces it doesnt matter on design i'll buy it just to harvest. on a related note which UK store has the best pic a brick selection? I've only been to MK. But If i could vote twice it would also be for design, cafe corner and greengrocer and most of the new pirate sets and some of the castle sets are great. Chris
  16. It looks nice, i cant say im a fan of bright red roofs though, if only it was dark red
  17. I think it was maybe this, although it was actually my sisters, but possibly i had smaller sets before that i dont remember when i recieved
  18. Noticed it around here too. Local Toys r us had hardly anything, about 1/3 of shelf space than before christmas and majority was star wars. Hamleys in London (tourist trap rip off!!) they have about 1/4 of the space. in the shelf marked up with lego city logos it has some cheap tat in its place. They seem to only have Bionicle and star wars, almost no city, brick buckets, Indy etc. Even amazon seems to only have 3rd party sellers with stock but they are charging 2-3 times for each set which really annoys me as a lot of people do not know the RRP so then think that lego is poor value (£130 for the pirate ship!) Argos should have some in the new catalogue, hopefully new sets but their range is lacking compared to when i was young and they had 4 pages, now its lucky to get 2.
  19. do you mean pick a brick online or in store? in the stores, the selection (my local-ish store at least) the selection is poor and seems aimed at kids with mainly 2x4 bricks and no 1x* bricks but at least one part i cant find online, the shrub, unless i remembered wrong what i got last time! in store you also pay per volume rather than item. i dont know which is better value i guess it depends on selection, id love to buy a whole tub of tiles but they dont stock them near me (probably as it would be so cheap compared to online per piece!)
  20. if only they will re release the blue 32x32 base plate
  21. are there any rumours of some good creator buildings for this year. the town house was a great set i managed to pick up after it was discontinued but i got the last one and would love some more sets which are good to build and then use for moc buildings with a large number of good coloured pieces. or if only they did a brick bucket of just tan, greys, light blue, dark blue and dark red.
  22. Wow thats quite some haul. I got none but bought a few myself shortly after - Greengrocers, Castle market street and pirate island. And have ordered online some pic a brick and a couple of sale items to harvest the bricks from :)
  23. Don't worry I was being sarcastic
  24. they should remove the upper age limit from the boxes for a start. anyway, as an adult i can now afford more than i got as gifts or with pocket money all those years back, so thats a positive, right. but as im cool im not going to and instead im going to spend it on crack.
  25. With piece count some UK boxes have them and some dont. Im not sure if UK boxes are just europe boxes, some clearly are as they are multi lingual. I doubt its legislation but maybe what TLG think the target market want in the region. I like the piece count and even more the complete item list on the box which some have but i usually checkout the online lists first if i know what im after.
