Sincerely, I hope it will crash, seriously crash. Because Lego should not be about price or profit, but just about fun and construction. If only people could stop buying all the sets just for resale (B-wing anyone ? Future Technic challenge 4x4 crawler anyone ?) ... I would be so happy.

I just bought the Lego StarWars Super Star Destroyer 10221 for 300€ on Amazon France (promotion finished now). I don't know when I will find time to build it and space to display it, but I think it's a great investment :)

As an industrial designer, I have to tell you that I see the world differently now that I think with 3D printing and yet I am sure I am far from being able to imagine what it will be with 3D printing available to the masses. In terms of Lego, I think that even though the possibilities are incredible, the build quality will take time, really. Because the materials are not ready yet for 3D printing and we don't know how they react over 5, 10, 30 years. But yes, it's definitely something I am looking forward to. For example, I am dreaming of some sets made of funny materials like ceramics (so minimal and elegant :-) ) or wood composites (warm and raw :-) ) !

Hi everyone, I am starting this new topic to share with you a little story and a project. I am a photography enthusiast and I have been for nearly 10 years now. I recently came back from my dark times and I am currently starting my collection of Lego Technics and Star Wars sets. This is the story of how I came back to the Lego world. I am currently finishing my studies in Shanghai and a few months ago, I decided it would be cool to shoot a mini-movie of a car model in the streets of the city to share with my family and friends back in Europe. Looking at all the options that I had (in terms of small car models) I came across the Lego Technic 8081 (that you see in the video below). After a few days, that was it, I WAS BACK, I could not resist. And at the same time, I was discovering the possibilities offered by my new camera (Nikon V1) in terms of movie shooting and image quality. If you are interested in more on this subject, just ask but for now let's just say that it offers me the ability to take cinema quality shots but for only 1-second-shots at a time. So this topic is the place for me to share with you this adventure. I started to think about the project, finding a song or two, planning places to shoot etc. And of course I built the Lego 8081 ;-) The video below is a "test" shooting I did recently to check how cool (or not) it would be. I think it turned out great ! [Please, do not hesitate to load it in the highest setting : 1080p to really appreciate its image quality in fullscreen] I would love to get your feedback and to share this entire experience with who is interested :)

I am happy I found this topic, I was just studying the feasibility of rendering Lego models in famous softwares. Guess what, it is very complicated. I did not know if I should start a new topic to talk about this or not so I'll post here. After a little work and some luck, I was able to render some cool things (look cool imho) from the models I found here on eurobricks. So they come from leocad files (most are broken so I used ones that were ok) as well as ldraw files. I then converted to .3ds and .stl and put them in 3DS max. From there, I just played with my 3D software. The renders you see here took 10 minutes each. I would like to know if some people are interested to produce some cool wallpapers and renderings. I would be really happy to render your creations, all I need is leocad files :) So actually I wanted to start a topic about these possible collaborations together ! Image Image

I would love to be able to export the files in any format that is useful in other softwares. .3DS, .igs, .stp, .obj, anyone ! It would help the community do beautiful renderings and would really be a good thing for the people who maybe don't have the money to get the models in real pieces, to have some beautiful visuals. It would also really help in terms of movies and animations, like A LOT.

I find both nice. The one I don't like is the 42008-B !

I think I am a newbie in terms of Lego compared to you guys but I cannot wait to get this set. I would like to know if you think it will be very hard to get (like sold out in 2 hours) or do you think it will be alright ? Will it be available only on S@H ? I am also scared of all the ebay-resellers rushing on it since it's a "limited edition" and not leaving me one :(

Do you think we could start to see non-transport UCSs ? Like the R2D2 ? I would love to see small items of Star Wars in large scale as UCSs :) For example : - Light sabers - Droids and small robots - Guns / arms - Accessories and more !

Do we have any rumor or ideas about the next (end-2013 right ?) UCS starwars set ?

I think in todays 's open internet world, having such amazing discounts just for the USA is horrible for the rest of the world. It is already the case in electronics all the time, US get the best prices on everything we use everyday. We say it is because opening to a new market is complicated because of patents, laws, technology rules etc. But Lego has no excuse :( It is really saddening, they have good margins, they should be a little more fair.

Zblj, I have a question about the 41999. I am very tempted by the 4x4 9398 also and I would like to know if they will be exaclty the same (appart from the top cover) or if there will be other differences. I can't wait to get my first radio controlled Lego :)

A few days ago I ordered the Tie fighter. I decided to wait for this afternoon to build it. Let the construction begin :) EDIT : and I finished it !

USA list I am so so so so PISSED OFF that we don't get the B-wing in Europe. I can't tell you how sad I am to see Lego do this. Does anyone have an explanation ?
